- Suzanne (9/5): We had a wonderful stay and the host was very attentive. - Lovely, spacious accommodation. Nothing
- Martin (9/5): Host was very friendly. We had a bit of a mix up with our booking, she was really nice and helped us - It was a nice little house, quite neighborhood. Close to attractions, and amenities.
- Edward (8/5): Very good -
- Grace (5/5): Good price, great location, rude, condescending, argumentative hostess. - The location was perfect... right in downtown. The kitchen had plenty of cookware, tableware, and utensils. The home was very clean. The beds were comfortable and warm. Utilitarian. The house lacks all charm. Utilitarian gray, one piece of bland artwork on the walls. Obviously a rental. Owner takes no pride in appearance.
The hostess was rude. The listing said there was a parking space in the back, and then the hostess messaged me that we should park on the street. (We found it was because the driveway was not shoveled.) When we rented our car, the guy told us to plug in the engine block, or the engine would freeze, and we would need a tow. There were no extension cord long enough to reach the street parking space. When I messaged the hostess, she said she would bring one in a couple of hours after she was finished attending a gala. She didn't show up or message that she was going to be late, so we had to buy one. She got angry when I asked if she would reimburse me, then showed up without calling first and became so argumentative and insulting that I had to ask her to leave. Also, twice during our stay, some guys showed up and entered the locked garage, which scared us because we were not notified that anyone would be in the house with us. They were making a ton of noise and made us really uncomfortable because we didn't know if they were just going to come right into the house proper. A quick heads-up from the hostess would have sufficed.
The kitchen was clean but there is very little counter space to work on due to the massive microwave taking up most of the space. We also had to buy more toilet paper as there was not enough supplied for the week we were there.
So a clean space, warm beds, and a combative hostess who was derogatory and rude. I guess if you're okay with the potential for conflict then it's a good deal.
- Jennifer (9/5): Comfy home base in convenient location with warm responsive host - This was a very comfortable home base for 3 friends, with a very responsive and supportive host. Jean responded quickly by email or phone anytime we reached out, which made for a very relaxing stay. When she found out we were in town ahead of the 4pm check-in time, she let us check in several hours early. She also was willing to take care of the clothing rental return (we left a bag of clothes behind for the rental company to coordinate picking up from our host). Jean has a very pleasant rental place, and interacting with her was a pleasure.
About her place:
The living room was fun to hang out in, and while the kitchen was lightly outfitted, it had everything we needed. We appreciated how the kitchen already had some foods (oatmeal, tea, condiments, enormous jar of peanut butter) for us to use. The bathroom was stocked with soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The location was very convenient - we were a 15-20min walk from many things, like the grocery store, City Hall, Snowkings' Festival, Niven Lake. We could catch a bus or taxi from the end of the block easily, and probably could've used the hotel shuttle system from Nova Inn if we wanted. If you like winter birdwatching, the living room window was perfect for regular ptargmigan sightings. While the dishwasher and fridge ran very very quietly, the forced air heating system is loud enough it would regularly wake our lighter sleepers overnight. The last day+night we were there, we could hear some kind of loud rhythmic mechanical sound that went continuously, like some kind of enormous sump pump cosplaying as a telltale heart.
On balance, it was probably still quieter (and definitely more comfortable and peaceful) than a hotel. If I were to return to Yellowknife, Jean and her apartment would be the first place I look up for accommodations.
- Tomomi (10/5): Owner Ms. jean has a great humanity. She helped us when we lost our way at minus 25 degree. (We had trouble along the wa - It has pretty much anything you need to stay there. And it was very clean and air- conditioned and it much worked. It needs a little tip to open the entrance door with PIN number key, but it is easy once you get a knack of it.
- Shane (10/5): Perfect. - Every thing was spot on. nothing. loved everything
- Li-yun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (8/5): Nice space for our family with 3 bedrooms. Within walking distance to new and old town. - The location was in between old and new town which worked out very well for us as we went to both areas frequently. It was on a quiet street just off the main road so was very convenient. The ktichen sink did not drain properly, but the landlord has arranged for a plumber to come by. We did not use the sink much so it did not impact our stay.
- Wesley (10/5): Exceptional -
