Building work in room next door (room 34). Requested to have an additional room, no one available to assist at reception, in fact I never saw any reception throughout the duration of my stay. No one updated us and said the main ferry to get to the Daintree is out of commission so any Daintree/Cape Trib trips are not possible.

The room was clean and very cool with the air con and fans. Kitchen facilities were great for breakfast. The gardens and setting were very peaceful. I did not like the fact that we stayed there for 6 nights and the rooms were not serviced. We only got one set of towels for 3 people which was not sufficient and clean enough for our stay.

Rachel (9/5): Cheap stay and lovely staff - The property is in a great location, they have 2 pools which was great for when one pool was busy. The pool water was a bit murky and lots of dead leaves etc in it, pool floaties in the pool should probably be taken out as they were smelly and mouldy. The rooms are a bit outdated and the shower screen opens inwards rather than outwards so was a bit of a mission if you were going int eh shower after someone and the tub was slippery.

Easy walk to the shops , beach , peninsula and marina . Room quiet . Pools lovely and Balinese style surroundings with lots of greenery make your stay relaxing . The staff in particular Griselda were lovely , friendly and helpful. We had the room serviced about six days into our stay and it wasn’t done very thoroughly. The floors were not washed .

The room we were allocated was on the third level 35 steps up, we are seniors and getting our suitcases up there was extremely difficult, no help was offered. The room was on the corner of Mowbray and Owen the traffic noise was terrible, as the rooms are just wooden slats no windows you can’t shut it out. We asked to be moved but that couldn’t be done. We left 2 days earlier to find some peace and quiet elsewhere. We were offered a free night next time we came back. But unfortunately we are probably to old to do that.
Kiwidreamer (8/5): Overall an Enjoyable Stay - We recently stayed in the Daintree Junior Suite and enjoyed our 5 night stay here. Information and support received in the lead up to our stay was great. The suite was almost as shown on the website although there were a few minor details not up to the standard of the rest of the unit. The biggest issue for me was the state of the hairdryer which was sticky to the touch and not pleasant to use. This was mentioned to reception the morning after arrival with an indication that housekeeping would look at this however it was not replaced while we were there. The second key to the unit did not work when used and we almost got locked out outside of reception hours (luckily we checked unlocking before closing the door and switched keys). It appeared to be bent and was replaced for us with another key. A couple of decorative details did not appear to have been upgraded along with the rest of the unit (e.g. inside of the wardrobe and a broken bedroom shutter screen). For the price we paid I think these could easily be addressed and improve the overall impression. Other than the minor niggles we were happy with our choice. We loved the view to the pool from our balcony with just enough privacy to enjoy sitting there. The pool was the perfect temperature for us, not too hot and not too cold. We did wonder why the spa pool wasn't warmer but that wasn't a big issue for us. We always managed to find a couple of loungers by the pool when we wanted them and liked that there was a variety of seating areas both in and out of the sun. The balinese feel of the resort and lush planting added to the experience. Really liked the location too, easy walking distance to the marina, restaurants and shops (including a Coles supermarket) in one direction and 4 mile beach in the other. If the minor niggles were addressed this would be a 5 star review.

Kerry Biram (3/5): I enjoyed my fortnight at Hibiscus, and staff were helpful whenever I had a question. - Location of room: I had requested a ground-floor room so was dismayed to discover I'd been allocated a room on the 2nd floor. Fortunately another guest helped carry my suitcase upstairs. There was no staff on duty by the time I arrived. Pool: It was pleasant, but very difficult to get out of if you weren't quite fit and had good arm strength. You have to be able to haul yourself up by your arms at only one spot in the pool.

The unit we had had been recently ungraded and was nice and comfortable to stay in over a longer period. We particularly liked the walk in shower. The staff were very pleasant and helpful when it came to booking transfers and answering our enquires.
Susan (9/5): We will return more often. - Location is fabulous. Easy 10 minute walk to the beach, restaurants/pubs, shops and supermarket. It has two pools surrounded by a tropical garden. Sun lounges for sunbaking and covered rotundas with lounge suites for sun shy people to sit in the shade. Every apartment has a balcony area with outdoor furniture. There are laundry facilities (washers and dryers). Under building car parking. It was very quiet at night. The staff emailed me about sight seeing opportunities, dining guides, as well as offering to book airport transfers. We have returned to Hibiscus Gardens many times. The second pool was undergoing deck repairs and, as they were done quickly, the pool was reopened before we left.

norahl2013 (8/5): Good to have a change of scenery - Very good for young/fit people as there are a lot of stairs. I always check and book a ground floor room as my husband has a knee problem. Our room was three steps down which was good, the only problem for us was there was no sun coming in and as we are from Queensland we found the room cold and had to put blankets on the bed. In summer I am sure it would be fine. There is a heated pool and another pool, but needless to say that most people were in the heated pool. As with all resorts, this caused a lot of screaming from children, but sometimes the adults were making more noise and encouraging the children. There is no restaurant, but cooking facilities in the room, and an outside deck with a table to eat at, or there are some tables round the pool. Loungers are not too many and the umbarellas are very small so would not keep the sun off. The location is very good - close to the Wharf for going on trips and close to Macrossan Street where there are plenty of eateries and shops.

Things are starting to become a little bit outdated in the room but that’s pretty standard for Port Douglas and it seems like they’re already on the way with works to keep the place fresh.
bretts181 (2/5): Bali inspired disaster - Our experience was not a good one. When we first arrived we were told our room had a leak and we were put in a smaller studio room that overlooked the car park. Two days later after complaining we were finally moved to a two bedroom apartment. We had initially booked a 1 bedroom apartment. We were told to try not to use the whole of the apartment!! Our accomodation was booked through luxury escapes and the Manager at Hibiscus Matt kept asking us if we had received a call from them. This had nothing to do with luxury escapes it was down to bad management of the resort, not very good customer service and we believe they had double booked our room. Matt the Manager originally said he could give us vouchers as compensation but all we wanted was the room we had booked and we felt we were being lied to.The pool was cloudy and the other pool could not be used due to construction in that area. The apartment we were moved to was nice but we lost three days of our holiday staying in a tiny room overlooking the car park!! (We were only in Port Douglas for 5 nights) The resort is situated on two busy roads and is very busy day and night. We would not stay at this resort again and would not recommend it.

GaryandLesleyTravel (10/5): Great location close to town, the marina and the beach. - Our apartment was spacious and comfortable and the location was ideal, it had everything we needed for a very comfortable 7 night stay, it contained all the basic estentials including but not limited to AC, ceiling fans, a good bed, great bathroom and shower, TV, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, cutlery, plates, glasses, tea and coffee making facilities, wardrobe storage and bucket and spade. Outside we had a table and chairs on our balcony above the pool. The apartment had great wifi, shared paid washing and drying facilities and under cover parking. The layout of the apartments in this complex allows for an open privacy which we enjoyed. Thanks for having us.

The toilet was very old, the bath was tiny (only use for a child!) , and the TV was old with limited free to air channels. Surprised that a 4-star hotel charged extra for fresh towels, turn-down service, and use of basic facilities like the laundry. A few updates would go a long way and make this place amazing.

Beautiful & clean, spacey apartment and Angelique in reception was so friendly & welcoming. Very private rooms & the pool has a beautiful tropical feel to it. Close walking distance to beach & town to just be able to ealk around. We will definitely will stay again. Our favourite place so far in Port Douglas 😍
