- Robert (1/5): Terrible experience. - Nothing Firstly, the automatic directions to the location provided through booking .com were incorrect. They led us too a location about 1 km distant from the actual apartment building. This was uncomfortable and unsafe late at night in an unfamiliar city. We managed to obtain a new map link from the property representative which was correct. Secondly we had to wait on the street as we again contacted the representative to open the double garage access gates as we had no code. When we finally parked our car we were unable to access the apartment as the door code we were given did not open the door. After many attempts the door alarm activated which was embarrassing. We did arrive later than was expected due to heavy rainfall and dangerous driving conditions. This was communicated to the representative and acknowledged. As we were exhausted my wife and I decided to go to another hotel for our stay. There was little else we could do at the time. I contacted booking.com as soon as possible to explain what happened. This meant calling the UK from Brazil. I spent over an hour, most of it on hold, with their CSR. I was told I should have called them the night we could not gain access to cancel. I explained that this was not possible. As it was it took me 30 minutes of searching the internet just to locate the contact number to call. Obviously they don’t like phone calls. After promises of a follow up email to me within 24 hours none was received. I was advised an exception full refund request would be would be submitted to the rental property and I would be advised of the outcome. No response or additional information has been received as of this writing. As a longtime happy booking.com customer I have never had an issue before. After this experience I will no longer use booking.com. If something unusual happens they will not stand behind their clients. Hard lesson learned. I am out of pocket for $285 Canadian dollars and immeasurable frustration. 😢😡
