• Tamar (1/5): Dishonest, greedy host. Terrible experience. AVOID this host. - nothing! READ CAREFULLY: Dishonest, greedy host, and possibly fraudulent practice. I will start with clarification: the host and I have been on direct WhatsApp communications days before my arrival, and I am fluent in Portuguese (just to discard any thoughts of misunderstanding or miscommunication). Upon my arrival to the apartment building, and after my taxi drove away (I arrived from the airport after an international flight), the host started telling me that my apartment is not available. He started with a story of a breakdown, continued to another with last minute problem with the current guests, and after a few minutes it was clear that he simply double booked it (admitting that as I am traveling alone, he decided that I do not need a large apartment). Then he showed me to a third floor (no elevator) small bedroom with kitchenette in the corridor, as a replacement, and gave me the choice not to stay there at all (he could have communicated this in advance, but chose to wait until I get there after my flight). He gave me a ridiculous discount, as if the few dollars are the solution to everything.I stayed as it was too late for me to look for another place. The place was horrible, noisy and unpleasant. There was not even a bottle of water left for the guests who arrive )and you are not supposed to drink tap water in Praia), nor anything else. An unprecedented bad experience (and I use booking.com and Airbnb.com for over a hundred reservations per year.
