• P (10/5): I was in the Wollongong area trying to find a permanent rental for my daughter and her dog and I found this place on boo - Very warm and friendly hospitality. Great facilities and a very comfortable bed. The sauna and hot spa were sensational and then the massage chair ensured my sleep was long and deep. I will definitely be back again and in all my travels over the years this place was very special. Highly recommended. There is nothing to not dislike about this place.

• James (6/5): A Poor Stay at Lakeside Shared Manor - The patio, the pool, the hot tub and the sauna were great. The breakfast was cereal and blackberries, toast, bananas and apples. Eggs were unavailable. The room was unacceptable. It was small with nowhere to put anything. We had to deal with our suitcases on the floor in a very cramped space. We had to leave our clothes on the floor at night as there was nowhere else to put them. The closet was filled with the owners' belongings. The bed sagged. In the morning, I discovered that the two cross boards underneath the mattress were not attached to both side rails! The ceiling fan was incredibly noisy no matter what speed I put it on. The owner advised it needed to be replaced! He turned the downstairs air conditioning on to try to cool our room, but then turned it off when he went to bed. Luckily it was a cooler night so we were able to open our window to breathe. However, the birds woke us up early as the window was open. We were only given one coffee in the morning as they had run out! It was as if the owners were completely unprepared for our visit and negligent in their maintenance. They shouldn't have rented this room.

• Leanda (2/5): A NO from me! - The proximity to the funeral I attended. I have noticed that previous negative reports the owners personally attacks the paying guest instead of listening and accepting comments, but here goes. The pool/spa was green and not usable. Was told it would be cleaned the next day. Didn’t happen next day or the next. The kitchen drain was clogged and noisy. As I came down for a funeral I just wanted a place to relax before and after and watch the tennis. The guest TV had no connection message. Something about not connected to aerial. When reported to house sitter, she couldn’t do anything. The owners were overseas for an extended holiday so no cooked breakfast or people to talk to. The house sitter works two jobs so sleeping in between. I went elsewhere after the funeral as this place was totally unsuitable. Forfeited my money. Before you attack my comments as “ingenuous” please know that I took photos. I have also travelled widely and this is the first time I have left a place early.

• Clairol (4/5): Disappointing - Had a private toilet and bath. The ads did not specify that the room is on the second floor. Not good for the elderly. The entrance is not presentable. The clothes line was placed right before the main/entrance door and there are rubbish piled beside the garage. My first impression when we arrived was "we were in the wrong address".

Owners were helpful and showed us around the house. As a paying guest I thought I would have less contact with the owners. I was using their Jacuzzi and it was never mentioned for how long I could use it. I was about to leave it when I was told that it was over. My friend and I felt very uncomfortable with the situation. As a paying guests I believe this should have been notified before.

One of us was much more disappointed than the other. Nice welcome, but the home is not configured well for multiple guests. And the 'keep out, cameras in use' note on a door left us feeling rather uneasy. Also, we found the mattress was exhausted and unlikely to offer guests a good night's sleep.

• Helen (5/5): Thanks for the warm welcome It was not how the space is advertised to be however . - Very welcoming family and a generous breakfast. We fell in love with their dog Mojo! It wasn’t actually what was advertised. The room was not air conditioned, there was not tea / coffee facilities or flatscreen Tv in room. Shared the space with a very friendly teenager however was not expecting him to be in the shower when we were told was our private facilities Felt a little overwhelming coming home to him playing video games in the space we thought we could relax in so retreated to our room. I feel a little bad saying all this when they are a very welcoming family.
