- hariette (8/5): Trotz der Kleinigkeiten sehr zufrieden - Die Lage und das Schlafen in einer Art Kabine mit Blick auf den Katzen. Es war ein wenig eng für 6 mit dem Gepäck

- John (10/5): Unique experience pioneered in Japan! Fun for the whole family. - My family loved this unique experience! Support the rescue cats! Very fun place for anyone. It was fun sleeping near so many when we missed our cat back home. Everyone should give this place a stay! It’s a capsule hotel so we knew it wasn’t going to be the most comfortable going into it so we stayed up late in Osaka and woke up early because of a couple new comer cats fought :P Only downside is comfort but we didn’t come here for that! I do wish there were shirts we could buy in person, not online.
- Natalie (10/5): If you are a cat lover visiting Osaka you have got to stay here!! - I am a crazy cat lady and finding an accommodation where I could stay beside cats (rescue cats) in a traditional Japanese Ryokan was a dream come true! The Ryokan is centrally located in Osaka and beautiful, clean and is all cat themed. The staff was super friendly and as part of our stay we got to have a private hour with the cats after the cat spa closed. The cats were soooo cute and sweet and are all up for adoption. The owner has a great heart and wants the best for the cats. I loved watching the cats from bed and can only dream about coming back. Leaving the cats! :(
- Nicole (10/5): Memorable, comfortable and fun! - This was such a unique experience for our family travelling from Australia. It was so much fun watching the felines from our capsule. Great memories. The air conditioning was inconsistent.

- H. (10/5): Amazing unique lodging experience for my kids, clean and comfortable and so much fun! - We only stayed one night here during our trip to Japan, but both my kids said it’s the coolest place we’ve *ever* stayed. If you enjoy trying unique lodging experiences, I highly recommend this spot.
I’ve always wanted to try a capsule hotel, but it’s difficult to find one that allows children and families, so this was a gem of a find.
The owner of Neco Republic Cat Ryokan appears to be a mom running a small business, and she was responsive to messages, kind to my kids, and went to extra effort to help sort out a question regarding payment through a third-party booking platform.
The kids adored having their own “sleeping cubbies” and sliding doors, with one wall being a window onto the adjacent cat cafe. There are ceiling-level catwalks (haha) and other climbing structures for the cats so that everyone gets a good view. They named all the cats, discussed their personalities and antics, and drew in the cat-themed guest book. The space is tiny—it’s a capsule hotel, so you’ve basically got a 3’ x 3’ x 7’ cubby to sleep in, with a little lockbox, and the space outside of that is shared (although on the night we stayed, I think we were the only ones there). So don’t expect to spread out your luggage or eat meals here—but the fun of it is the novelty.
The location is great for exploring a fascinating neighborhood with lots of restaurants and konbini nearby. Subway station is right at the end of the block.
The capsule sleeping spaces actually felt quite roomy and luxurious, with woven mats, wooden walls, and solid wood sliding doors. The bathrooms and other spaces were very clean (and I’m picky) and the shower was delightful, with great water pressure and adorable cat-themed soaps and shampoos.
If trying a capsule hotel is on your bucket list, like it was mine, and/or if you’ve got animal-loving kids, this is a sweet spot.
- Aimee (10/5): Perfect for cat lovers. - The location is very convenient for sightseeing. Obviously the major draw is the cats and they did not disappoint - this lodging was my teen daughter's main request for our trip and she enjoyed having time with the cats after closing. The variety and breadth of amenities were unexpected and appreciated. My allergic-to-cats mother-in-law did not experience any discomfort in the Ryokan (she elected not to enter the cafe)
- Kim (9/5): Superb -
- Roos (10/5): Lovely cat stay - So many cute cats! Facilities were clean and new. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend!
- Rachael (9/5): Great catty stay - Loved this unique stay having the chance to sleep next to the cat cafe and watch all the cute cats. The space was all cat themed throughout even the shampoo and conditioner. Enjoyed our free hour with the cats alone. We had lots of fuss and played with them. It was great to read about the information on them all and the great work the team are doing with rescuing them. More of an authentic stay sleeping on the futons. Great location.
- Victoria (10/5): A magical stay for cat lovers! - Amazing stay - friendly staff, lovely cats, comfortable accommodation with lots of lovely touches, and a really convenient location (moments from the closest metro). Thank you.
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - I loved everything about it. It was really adorable! It being a cat hotel, a ryokan style, and a capsule hotel gave 3 things Japan is known for all in one place. I would stay here again. We stayed for one night and I think that was the perfect about of time.
- Hongli (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexandros (10/5): The room overlooks a cat cafe - A very unique stay. The room overlooks a cat cafe!!! As a guest, you are also allowed free access to the cafe for an hour. Good location, within walking distance from Dotonbori and many places to go out to. In hindsight, I find the property rather expensive. Also, there is not much privacy, as the cat cafe customers can look into the room, unless you have the blinds drawn. Perhaps a special window/mirror would’ve helped with this, so you can still see through cats without being seen!
- Bec (9/5): Cozy :) - The facilities were amazing and I felt so comfortable in my bed :)
I liked that we could see the cats through the glass anytime we wanted. I wish the glass was one way glass, as it was a little awkward to look through while customers were in the other room haha
Other than that, it was an amazing experience :)
- David (4/5): Cute but that's about all - Cute idea of having a room overlook the cat cafe with a free hour per day of play with the cats It was much more of a hostel than I expected. The sleeping quarters are little niches (tatami with futon) that overlooks the cat room. Cute idea but uncomfortable. My wife and I ended up getting a room at a nearby hotel.
- Amelia (10/5): Perfect! - The bunk beds were cute. Super clean too! Can see the cats through the glass. Bathroom newly renovated and clean. Nothing.
- Dongzhu (9/5): Superb -
- Megan (9/5): An amazingly unique kind of stay. - The unique set up of capsule style ryokan with big windows for viewing the cats. The inclusion of one hour in the cat cafe. Excellent location. All toiletries provided. The futons were a bit hard and could hear movement from upstairs.
- Carole (10/5): Lovely quiet cat hotel - The cats were very well looked after. We had a lovely time playing with them. The staff were very attentive to the cats and spent lots of time cleaning up and feeding them. It is also a rescue and 2 were adopted while we were there. The hotel / Ryokan was very comfortable and clean. There were lots of lovely places to eat nearby. We would definitely stay again It was all perfect
- Hammad (10/5): Exceptional - It was fun to stay in a cat cafe. Kids loved the extra hour provided to us for the private time with cats.
Location was fantastic with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.
- Jenny (10/5): Purrfect! - We loved how kind and friendly the staff were and the pure experience of it. It was a traditional style layout, and we hadn't realized you actually book the entire room. The facilities were clean and it was so fun to just watch the cats play and sleep and exist. The location was amazing, easy to walk 15ish minutes to major Osaka locations. The only things we didn't like were the smell (if you aren't used to cats then it will be jarring, but we are used to it so it felt familiar, and my tall partner had issues sleeping on the futon.
- Inkeri (10/5): Perfect stay for cat lovers! - The cats! The sleeping pods have a glass window where you can gaze at the cat cafe space, and following what the kitties are doing is endlessly captivating! Staff was friendly and helpful, and we really loved the fact that this is a rescue cat cafe, where rescue cats get another chance at a better life <3
The attention to cat themed detail is crazy, even the body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower were cat themed!
And, hostel guests get a complimentary 1 hour in the cat cafe with the cats, either after closing time for other customers (20-21) or the next morning before opening (11-12) so you don't have to share the cats attention with other customers. The staff helped us get acquainted with the cats and told us what kind of approach each of them enjoys, if they like to be approached (some are still very reserved and keep to themselves, which is very okay, of course). The sleeping pods got quite hot during the night, but that's to be expected, and the opportunity to look at cute cats before bedtime and in the morning more than made up for it.
- Nathaniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): We hope to stay here again!! The cats and the hotel guests alike have a comfortable, happy home when at the Cat Spa & - We had the best time at the Cat Spa & Cat Ryokan by Neco Republic Osaka. It was wonderful spending time with the cats, watching them play and interact. I love the window that looks into the cat sanctuary from the bed, it’s such a special experience. Our stay here was one of the best parts of the trip! Would highly recommend staying here, we LOVED our experience and it positively impacts the rescued cats when supporting this property! There wasn’t anything that I didn’t like! We had a wonderful experience.
- Michael (10/5): Amazing - Had an amazing stay. It was a unique experience. The staff was very helpful and friendly and it was lovely to get to spend 1 hour alone with the cats. It was really nice to read about the cats and to see that they where well looked after.
- Ashworth (10/5): Purrfect experience. - Amazing experience, spotless facilities, lovely decor, great staff and wonderful cats.
- Heather (10/5): A cat lover paradise - As a cat lover, this was an amazing experience. But also to experience a ryokan. The sleeping area was comfortable and we might have an idea of why many cats prefer boxes to sleep🤭 We were just a little bit too excited to sleep tightly as we could miss some action with the cats.
You can choose when you would like to have one private hour with all cats. We chose right after the closing time on the same day of our check-in as we couldn’t wait any longer to meet the lovely felines. All cats have been strays and are being well taken care of at this place.
Each character is respected and they have enough space to retreat. The staff is very nice, kind, and attentive, and even though English skills were lacking, we could communicate well.
The sleeping area is clean and has a lot of nice amenities. The bathroom was very practical and well thought through.
We recommend staying here without hesitation and would love to come back again one day and buy something from the souvenir shop to support these cats and the facility. This is one of the few places where the cats' well-being is taken care of. Their work is ethical; you can even adopt a cat after some process. Although the air ventilation was working hard it of course still smells after cat. But what other to expect being so close to all of them? So all in all, nothing to complain about :)
- Kathy (7/5): Good - Good location and fun cat decor The futon mattresses were there thin
- Molochai (10/5): A must!! - By far the best and most memorable place we stayed during our visit to Japan!! As a group of 4 we got the whole place to ourselves. The bed capsules were spacious and the futons were warm and comfortable. Being able to see the cats through the glass at night was a wonderful experience. The bathroom and shower area were wonderful, very clean and equipped with the best amenities. With your stay you get a free entry to the cat cafe durning business hours or before opening or after closing if you prefer to be alone. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and the cats were well taken care of and very playful. It's important to point out that this is one of the few places in Japan that takes good care of the cats and acts as an adoption agency as well, other places are not ethical. I cannot recommend it enough! I loved everything
- Teo (8/5): Very good - Good location a short walk away from a train station and within walking distance to ebisu bridge in dotonburi. Konbini right outside the door, plenty of dining and play options around. Love the cats and the chance to interact with them. 100% would go again, most suitable for party of 4 or more with the whole property to yourself.
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gigi (9/5): A MUST stay for any cat lover! - Definitely unique and a MUST stay for any cat lovers!! The cats were so cute!! Bed/ futon is quite hard, but as we were out and about every day until late we were so exhausted that we didn’t minded that much. 😄
- Kristine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grace (5/5): cute cats but stay somewhere else and visit instead - the cats were cool but we only had 1 hour to play with them despite living in the same areas as them. location was convenient too lack of ventilation and activities to do. at night the cats were pretty loud and you couldn’t turn the lights off completely so it was hard to sleep at all
- Carrie (9/5): Recommend! - Definitely a must visit place if you like cats. There was A LOT of rescue cats in the Ryokan, about 22 in total. If you're a cat lover, this is it. Best part is you get to spend some time with the cats at their café other than being able to see them from your room. You get the whole living area to yourself or your travel group.
- Clara (8/5): Great experience for cat lovers! - Great experience for cat lovers! Fotos match well to reality. We had the whole room just for us. All clean and well equiped. Being able to see the cats play while in bed was quite a fun experience as well as enjoying the cat cafe side just for us for one hour. Our host was quite nice and despite not speaking english, google translate bridge well comunication between both parties. The sleeping space is with futons so it can be a bit hard if your are not used to it. If you close the shoji separations to sleep it gets quite warm but leaving them open then the air con is somewhat noisy.
- Faith (8/5): Nice staff, cute kitties, and nice amenities. - Our stay was great! We loved the decor and vibe of our space and of course having the kitties on the other side of the window was amazing. There were also two toilets which was really nice. The mattresses were pretty uncomfy but okay for our one night stay.
- Leo (8/5): cute as - very cute. taste of traditional ryokan accomodation. all the cats ofc. the staff very lovely the sleeping mats were not particularly comfortable. also too many lights in the room not able to be turned off
- Jen (9/5): Superb -
- Tristan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sirimon (9/5): Stayed there for our cat-loving kid and enjoyed it overall. The room looks like the pictures. - Very clean. Good amenities - shower, refrigerator, hair dryer, towels, toiletries. It's one long room with 8 sleeping pods which set up for your group. Location may not be ideal but we did walk to/from Shinsaibashi and Kintetsu-Nippombashi. We can look at and hear the cat cafe until closing.
- Bryan (8/5): Very good -
- Cha (7/5): Unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. - Interesting layout. The entire ryokan is given to you even though you are not a party of 8. One of the staff is helpful despite not being able to speak english. Not so close to public transportation. Cat allergen and smell transfer to the ryokan section sometimes. Small room.
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - After some confusion at check-in (go to the cat cafe and let them know you're checking in for the hotel), we were shown our sparkling clean family room. The bathroom and excellent shower were private; you sleep in small segmented mini rooms in traditional Japanese fashion, with a mattress on a tatami mat. It is not the most comfortable night of sleep you will ever have, but it will probably be one of the more memorable. You look at the cats through the glass from the sleeping area; and you get a sense of how they live when the people leave for the night. You can then go in at 11am the next morning and have an hour with the cats before everyone arrives. it was so bizarre and amazing. The sleeping area itself had a ton of amenities: a fridge, hot water, a hair dryer, skincare products, in addition to towels and slippers. the bed was not very comfortable and one cat was meowing all night long.
