Guest Reviews
- Amy (6/5): Liked the farm and it was close to a party we were attending but needs a facelift. - The farm for the kids to walk to The rooms looked nothing like the pictures and I wouldn’t class it a resort as such.
- Geesje Andrea (7/5): Leuke locatie om langs de wijngaarden te fietsen. - Mooie locatie. Middenin de wijnstreek. Segway tour door de wijngaard. Restaurant aanwezig en zwembad.
- Bruce (8/5): Appropriate to our travel plans - Food at resturant very good and value for money. Shower over the bath dated and a little difficult to use.
- Mitra (8/5): -
- Donna (10/5): Family friendly accommodation and activities, nice pool and close to wineries. - Friendly staff, comfy bed. Close to wineries! There wasn’t anything I could say bad about it.
- Florian (10/5): -
- Danielle (1/5): Horrible - wouldn’t ever stay here again - This property is so run down. It really needs to be renovated if it wants to keep operating Outdated
Noisy, could hear people next door talking
Bathroom fan sounds like it was going to take off
All the furniture is so old and uncomfortable
- Else and Shaun (8/5): - It was a nice location to spend some days in the Hunter Valley. We liked the facilities with the view from the restaurant's patio, easy bike hire for getting around for visiting wineries on the Hermitage road. The cottage we stayed in was very nice and a quiet place to be.
- 843dorianm (10/5): Best stay in the Hunter - Hunter Valley Resort and Farm is a relaxing stay in the heart of the Hunter, with wineries within reach. The accommodation is lovely and tidy and very private, and all within an easy walk of the restaurant and bar. The restaurant serves five-star meals at pub prices. The resort is great for families with all the animals and romantic for couples alike. We would stay again!
- 524russello (10/5): Great Experiences & Great Memories - Such a great place to stay. Convenient to travel to wineries, the rooms were simple but exactly what we needed. Food and beverages at the resort were fantastic.
- 674yangz (10/5): Great place for relaxing! - The Hunter Valley Resort and Farm is a lovely place for a relaxing holiday trip, located on the Hermitage road and has a number of vineyards closeby, just need to walk in and enjoy a friendly win tasting experience. The resort itself is also well managed with friendly staff, clean rooms, and many entertainments you can expect from a resort. We live in the hunter room which is quite spacious and close to the pool and laundry. The food at the taproom is also quite well served, strongly recommend their ginger beer.
We also booked a hot air balloon experience to see the sunrise, which is very impressive and memorable.
- Thiary (5/5): -
- G5215FOtonic (10/5): Great weekend in a lovely location - The staff were super friendly, and the service was great. We really enjoyed the wine tastings that were included in our package, and actually learnt a lot about wine making. Would definitely recommend!
- Ellen (8/5): -
- Nina (7/5): - Coffee was great as was the wine/farm tour Cockroaches in the room
- Alison (10/5): -

- 713fransk (10/5): Perfect location for a stay in Hunter Valley - It was a comfortable stay. Very nice location.
The restaurant was perfect. The people at the location were very kind and helpfull.
- Bryce (10/5): -
- Gaurav (10/5): Everything they have for a family with kids - Everything
- Patricia Ruth (8/5): Brilliant short stay would go back for longer - Peaceful in lovely location and plenty activities available. Delicious food in the bistro. Nothing not to like
- 578adrianb (8/5): Good Option for Staying In The Hunter Valley - The accommodation is set centrally in the Hunter Valley in a peaceful location and benefits from an excellent Breakfast and dinner service.
The rooms do need updating but our room was very large and was well equipped.
- Kate (7/5): A fantastic place for families with children well catered for - Breakfast was a good selection and a good kids menu was available More attention to detail in the room would be good as we had a broken slate in the trundle bed. I need a firm mattress due to a back injury and I should have stated that when I booked
- Emily (7/5): Lovely property but was expensive for one night. - Lots of different animals and the scenery was beautiful. The food was nice. Most the staff were friendly. Prices on some of the food and drinks were expensive. And the spa cabin had a dirty bath line, also dust on bedside tables. Microwave was outdated for heating up bottle can’t select 30 second and can’t but an average size bottle in to fit have to use a cup. Tap water in cabin wasn’t drinkable. In description for room service to order meals and drinks it should state on booking websites that no alcohol room service.
- TKLMonaghan (10/5): Ticked all the boxes for our family - We really enjoyed our stay at the Hunter Valley Resort. It ticked all the boxes for our family. The rooms were comfortable. The restaurant/bar is nice with lots of veranda seating and a large green space for the kids to play in. Breakfast was nice and the wine experience included in our stay was great - both informative and enjoyable. It was hot when we visited so didn't spend much time at the farm.
- JamoJ (6/5): Great location, average accomodation - Beautiful location, average accomodation.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage and whilst the location and scenery were divine, the actual cottage was sub par at best.
We arrived to discover the glass door couldn't be shut or locked properly as the lock appeared to be broken so our cottage was secured by locking the screen door.
Shortly after when turning on the tap in one of the bathrooms we were soaked with water and while initially I thought I must have turned the tap on too hard, we soon learnt it didn't matter how hard the tap was on the water sprayed all over the vanity and yourself and then to top it off everytime the toilet was flushed or the shower had been used the pipes would squeal for the next 10 mins.
Not the worst place we've stayed but for the price it was disappointing and it certainly wasn't 4 star. We stayed at another location the following week for the same cost and it well exceeded this venue.
We would only stay again for convenience but would definitely return to the farm and restaurant again.
- V5794TXbrianl (10/5): Serene time on the Farm - We had a great time at the Resort & Farm. We spent a lot of peaceful time roaming the grounds, taking in the sunsets, and dining at the restaurant. Our cabin was spacious, clean, and everyone who helped us was super friendly. Would love to visit again.
- Nirajan (8/5): -
- Rodolfo (10/5): - Great experience! The rooms were clean, and the staff was the best—so friendly and helpful. There were lots of activities to do on-site, so we were never bored. Would definitely stay here again

- Rachel (9/5): - A lovely site to walk around. Spacious room with a nice view. Highly recommend the wine tasting experience, we had Kate running ours and she was incredible!
- Erin (9/5): -
- Samudra (10/5): -
- Huynh (8/5): I stayed there with my family anh my friends, we had a very good time there together. - The accommodation is quiet, the scenery is beautiful, and the restaurant has a stunning view.
- Pratistha (7/5): -
- Arora (9/5): Satisfying - View, location, amenities were excellent. It was raining and its and open property. They could provide umbrella to guests for inter property hops
- Lisa (8/5): -
- H4558OGkarena (10/5): Give it a try. You won't be disappointed. - Hunter Valley Resort is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bar and restaurant are lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. It's a quiet, family run resort and I would definitely recommend staying there. Lots of fun activities that we'd like to come back and experience.
- Ward (9/5): Hot , hot , hot. Okay - No time for breakfast. Fringe. Little bigger. More plates.
- marleneo755 (10/5): Our go to place to stay - Hunter Valley resort is a great place to stay whether couples, groups or family. Staff are friendly and accomodating. Having Four Pines brewery on site means there is no need to go anywhere else unless you want to as everything is there to enjoy! The beers on tap can be enjoyed with a lovely menu full of delicious choices. For the adventurous ones, you can enjoy visiting the farm animals, segway rides, horse rides and archery with more adventures planned.
The Heritage rooms are spacious and the beds comfy.
- jacquig504 (10/5): Relaxing sampling wine chilling fabulous - 5 star brilliant atmosphere was relaxed but classy wine tasting and lovely restaurant and the food was Master chef worthy
- Aussie987689632 (10/5): Weekend away - Lovely roomy cabin, big comfy bed, clean as a whistle. Great breakfast and dinner at restaurant. Cabin is split into 2 residences but no noise from occupied neighbouring cabin.
- davidhE2721RX (10/5): Great family experience in beautiful surrounds. - A great experience in a family run business. We had an excellent lunch at 4 Pines Tavern which is very conveniently located on site. Very friendly, helpful staff even though the place was packed. Thoroughly recommend. The room was a really generous size and very comfortable with a courtyard perfect for enjoying a glass or two of local wine. We were lucky enough to have a room that overlooked the mountains to the west. It is just a little bit off the most beaten track but well worth a few extra minutes. Excellent nearby cellar doors as a bonus. We got a great deal for a last minute stay. Overall a really sensational find by pure chance. Looking forward to our next visit!
- O2065BHmelissaw (10/5): Work conference - One word- Amazing! It was great for team bonding but we all were able to have our room. Beautiful location, great staff..
- Poulikakos (10/5): -
- Prashanth (8/5): - Good bistro on the property and lot of activities for kids A bit too far on the expensive side of it for kids activities in the farm like horse carriage for two was $100
- B7029BJpault (10/5): Great Farm Stay, Great place. - We stayed here for two nights with the kids and just had a lovely time. The food at the restaurant was delicious, the staff and hosts were friendly and helpful. The kids loved the horse-ride and the animal feeding. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a nice getaway to the Hunter Valley. We'll be back again!
- Carmen (6/5): Nice but needs some maintenance. - Location Needed some maintenance on veranda area.
- BruceH1331 (10/5): A two night getaway!! - Enjoyed a short break at Hunter Valley Retreat. Enjoyed a dinner in the Restaurant & breakfasts. Staff were most helpful, as we were a tad late on arriving the Resort receptionist contacted us to check on our estimated time of arrival. It was colder than expected when we arrived. Pleasantly surprised our room was nice & cosy. We stayed in units a short distance away from restaurant which were pleasant & quite. Lovely waking up to the sound of birds. The resort was conveniently located to many attractions, spending a wonderful morning walking through the Hunter Gardens.
- nerinas2022 (10/5): Great place to stay. - Lovely place to stay in the Hunter. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The restaurant served great food and the pool and grounds beautiful. Will stay again.
- Carolyn (7/5): -
- Laura (10/5): -
- Bova (8/5): It was really enjoyable - Comfortable and bright rooms. View from bar/ rest restaurant. Really good atmosphere
- Brandon (6/5): -
- Steve (8/5): -
- Rani (8/5): -
- lordesx (2/5): Check it out. Very misleading. - This deal at first advertises two night stay at the resort from $162.
When you go further into the deal it’s only 1 night. It appears to be a catch. Resort have been aware for two weeks and yet the same ad is up.
- 428bellindah (10/5): Weekend from HEAVEN - Omg this farm was THE MOST AWESOME place to spend a weekend in the hunter!
There is nothing better than waking up to the gorgeous sunrise on the beautiful balcony of our very comfortable guesthouse, and then wandering down to “the farm” to pat the beautiful horses😍
I love all the animals so much, they were the highlight of my stay! The cheeky ostrich is a character! Love him❤️
Could not fault anything. Friendly reception, nothing is a problem, rooms beautiful and bed so comfortable🥰
Food at the four pines is amazing, i can highly reccommend the fried apple pie yuuummmmm
Thanku so so much guys
- 1g2r3v (10/5): Recommended - We enjoyed our stay! Great value and the onsite facilities were great! Recommend the wine school and wine tasting. Family run business was welcoming and personal.
- Emily (8/5): - nice having the activities and four pines on site, facilities inside the room are basic but clean, a little dated but was perfect for our one night stay.
- Ruth (8/5): An excellent place for families, as well as for couples. - Facililies were fine. Wine tasting and explanation, plus movie - all excellent. Shower in the bath
- Kristie (8/5): Fun stay :) - Loved the activities on site, farm, wine tasting, pool/tennis courts
- Connie (9/5): - They have lots of fun activities on site suitable for all ages. The beds are really soft
- Matthew (5/5): Great location and lovely staff but outdated, out-of-order facilities - Staff were lovely and very helpful! Air conditioning in room didn’t work, neither did the television.
- Lisa (10/5): Overnight - One night stay, so didn't really get a chance to experience all on offer.
was good to have pub a very short walk for a good meal.
- Tjaarthina (10/5): Will be back - So relaxed and the staff were amazing.
- Mathew (2/5): Overpriced and poor standard of accommodation - Good location Rooms were way over priced for what they were
Paid for a family room and just got a trundle cot with a thin uncomfortable mattress
Bucks parties everywhere at the bar and not a good environment for children. Definitely will not return
- Leanne (10/5): - A lovely property, staff were helpful and kind. Room was very spacious and room was clean.
- sonyal607 (10/5): Beautiful Resort, Incredible Staff & Dining! - Our stay at Hunter Valley Resort was nothing short of perfect! Katie and her amazing team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for from start to finish. The resort is stunning, with beautiful surroundings and a warm, relaxing atmosphere.
A special mention to the restaurant team — every meal was a highlight thanks to their friendly service and attention to detail. We left feeling relaxed, well looked after, and already planning our next visit.
Highly recommend Hunter Valley Resort for anyone looking for a memorable Hunter Valley getaway with exceptional service!
- 974luciei (10/5): Great getaway - We throughly enjoyed our time at the Hunter Vally Resort and Farm. We loved the beautiful setting, the relaxed atmosphere, the helpful staff and the knowledge we gained of the wine making process.
- daniellehY2933DP (10/5): Perfect family getaway - Always such a lovely stay, our little ones love seeing all the animals at the farm. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food is fantastic as well. We will definitely be back.
- Yuvati (10/5): -
- unclechownza (6/5): Not very enjoyable - The room is very basic .. very stuffy a/c doesn’t work.. the bed was very comfortable the grounds are beautiful.. the restaurant for breakfast has to be run by the slowest people ever .. who must be working for slave wages cause everything is way too much effort.. the menu is very basic.. the food is average and then paying the bill is like taking out a home loan .. trying to pay for it .. maybe use this place as a last resort
- Abir (7/5): -
- kelvind799 (10/5): Great place to stay - This is the 2nd time we have stayed and found it very central to wineries and surroundings. Bistro and bar are great. Rooms very clean and reception staff were friendly and helpful . Will definitely stay again .
- Danielle (8/5): - Wifi needs to be improved, hand soap is too high for the bathroom sink, dish soap should be available if dishes are provided so they could be washed and reused. Bed was comfortable.
- Joanne (10/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Jacob (7/5): - Good bar/ restaurant. Beds were comfy. Welfare of the animals could be questioned.
- 220shiraleec (10/5): - We had an amazing overnight stay at HV resort & farm. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, the food was great and the cabin was very clean and comfortable.
We actually had fun at the wine tasting as the host was very entertaining and we loved visiting the farm and all the animals- which could only be made better by being a bit more hands on as I would of loved to cuddle the baby deer or even the cute donkey!
- Ebony-Jayne (9/5): Perfect stay for my family - Perfect location. Staff were lovely. So much to do. We walked around the farm and fed animals with the kids. Comfy rooms walking distance to everything. Food was amazing 10/10. Lots of games set up at restaurant so kids can play while dining or waiting for food. Hot water system was very noisy when in use and the hot didn't go extremely hot. I had a shower not needing to use any cold water.
- Careen (7/5): Good -
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Giulietta (9/5): Superb -
- Oliver (5/5): Passable -
- Nath (1/5): Bad -
- glynism107 (10/5): Don't judge a book by it's cover - We received a voucher for a three night staycation. We turned up in poor weather which got progressively worse with rain and high winds. We were expecting a flashy resort so we were unprepared for what we arrived at. However, have you heard the phrase don't judge a book by its cover?
We were welcomed at the front deskby a very pleasant lady who gave us our key and directed us to our motel style room - great, no stairs just a simple path to negotiate and car parking out front.
The room was double the size of a normal motelroom and had comfortable armchairs at one end of the room and a comfortable bed at the other. Views over the mountains in the distance and a grass lawn in front of it accessed by glass doors and another set of seats and tables. It was unfortunate that the weather was so inclement or we would have sat and watched the sun setting
while having a drink.
Everything opened and shut, there was a good hot water system and eachroom is air conditioned - very good on a cold winters night.
The restaurant did not fail for the two nights and two breakfast we enjoyed during the stay.
We didn't partake of any of the various pastimes that were available: segways, electric bikes, a pool, a farm and several others because to be frank, we are a little bit old.
We were presented a voucher for a wine tasting and a tour of a wine museum when we picked up our keys but having worked in the wine idustray for several decades it was like taking coals to Newcastle so we didn't bother but I would think that a couple going there for a quiet weekend away would find them very useful.
The staff were all lovely, especially in the restaurant, nothing was a problem. The bar, which is 4 Pines orientated, was also something we didn't use but there were plenty of people there.
When we finally fell into bed each night we slept soundly because the beds are so comfortable, fortunately we had until 10.00am to depart because on the last day we slept in until 7.40 - this from two people who at home are regularly out of bed by 6.30am.
It is a long way out on Hermitage Road so be prepared for a drive, it is not in the middle of all the wineries but there are several close by.
We will be going back and staying again in another two or three months because we had a lovely restful time but if you have children I imagine spring/ summer would be the perfect time, all the attractions of the resort will be available for the kids and you won't have to leave the resort.
- Barry (9/5): Superb - Liked everything, short trip so didn't get to test the dining or entertainment, otherwise may have rated 10/10 Nothing
- Alison (7/5): Good -
- Explorer46862492935 (8/5): Two Night Stay in the Hunter Valley Resort - The resort facilities were excellent and the location was great for exploring the Hunter Valley area. We dined in the restaurant twice and had a lovely meal both times. We also enjoyed the Wine School
- Gail (10/5): Spacious, clean rooms. Great food & beverages. Cute farm. - Spacious clean rooms. Great food & beverages.
- Vanessa (8/5): Very good -
- Erin (10/5): Extremely pleasant and comfortable weekend - Very clean, tidy and well
Presented. Cosy, beautiful view and was nice and quiet
- 482gayd (10/5): Kevins Birthday - The rooms were nice and clean - staff friendly - nothing too much trouble for them
The food in the dining room was delicious and the wine tasting was very informative
Tables and chairs on the verandah were great for having drinks with friends in the other rooms. We all took our chairs to one verandah and had drinks and nibbles
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
