Guest Reviews
- Bk_M (9/5): - Great choice if you plan to stay in Binalong Bay. Comfortable size of the apartment, with a nice view of the ocean (over the houses in front). Walking distance to the local bar/pizzeria to grab something if you do not want to drive Dishwasher was not working when we stayed, but hopefully something that will have been fixed by the owner by now
- Kathryn (8/5): - Great location. Comfy bed. Dishwasher didn't work. Some windows didn't have fly screens and there were lots of flies around. No batteries in the bedroom tv remote. Builders working right behind the unit and could see in.
- Anne (8/5): We had a lovely stay at Binalong Bay and thoroughly enjoyed the Bay of Fires and exploring the local area. - Location was excellent with easy access through to the beach. The accommodation was clean and well presented. We loved the little friendly wallabies in the yard. Unfortunately, the dishwasher, coffee machine and bedroom tv remote were not working during our visit and there was no internet access provided.
- Linda (2/5): Too Tired to be honest about the listing and see to basic maintenance. - The beds were clean and comfortable, and it was easy to book and get into the property. The location is good and would be quiet, had there not been a building site next door, overlooking the property. Property not as advertised.
A building site next door, which was not in the advertised pictures. Constant building noise and people working. Lack of privacy, therefore, in the bathroom, as there were no blinds or curtains, just frosted glass, meaning we had to shower when the building site was empty.
Appliances are not working. On further reading, this has been the case for over a year.
Smelly couch and cushions.
Accessibility to the property is not advertised. Several steps to the door.
Wifi wasn't available on the first night, had to email the host, who didn't reply until the next day. It could have been easily solved with a display of it in the property, like everywhere else we have ever stayed.
Complained via Booking.com, who issued a $96 travel credit for a stay that cost us nearly $700. Note that Booking.com stated "we were unable to reach an agreement with the property," meaning Booking.com gave us that and not the people who can't be bothered to see to the tiniest of details or be honest in their listing of the property.
We have given the hosts ample time to resolve the issue as we are all human, but its clear that everyone else who has raised issues have been fobbed off in the same way.
- Resi (8/5): Fabulous location and facilities, just be aware this property has several steps to navigate. - View across the bay. Very low water pressure for shower.

- Charles (5/5): Disappointing - Excellent location - quiet street and close to beach etc. Shame we weren’t informed about the building site at the back of the house in advance. Fortunately we were there over a weekend so no idea how noisy it is during the week No responses from agents (seems to be managed by a letting company) to raised concerns. It didn’t really live up to expectations:
Dishwasher doesn’t work (from re-reading reviews it seems that it hasn’t worked for over a year). Inside it is caked with old food and smelly as previous visitors presumably put dirty plates in (unrinsed) and then had to take out again and hand-wash (as did we). If it’s not going to be fixed than there should be a note on it and the dishwasher tablets removed and the dishwasher cleaned.
Washing machine is very nice to have - except no powder/liquid at all is provided (though there is an old mega-pack of liqui-tabs in the cardboard recycling, so clearly there has been some in the past). No instructions either.
No spare toilet roll at all provided (unlike everywhere else we have stayed)
Only two coffee pods / 4 tea bags, no milk for two days (the only self-catering place in 8 weeks that hasn’t provided enough coffee/tea and some longlife milk). Coffee machine hadn’t been cleaned out. Surely just easier to provide a plunger?
No pre-warning of building site at back of house, fortunately we were here over weekend so didnt impact us
Outside recycling bin was full to the brim. I was sent a schedule via email but nowhere was requested to do anything with the bins. Why not just leave a note out for people?. Bin-day is Monday so they will another collection day missed unless someone puts them out on Sunday night.
The drive is a long concrete one, single car width. No way to turn car round so needs reversing. Description says room for two cars, not any more as a big shed had been installed under the house, which also means the car has to be left in the sun all day.
Garden is looking tired and brown, contrary to photos in description.

- Missy (10/5): - Great property for a family of 3. Super comfortable beds and pillows! Very clean and was so well equipped. We would have liked to have stayed another night it was so good. Nothing it was all fab!
- Krysia (9/5): A very comfortable stay in an amazing location with a stunning view. Easy access to beach and eatery. The idyllic Bay of - Fabulous location with great views of Binalong Bay and easy access to to street with only eatery Poorly maintained decking and torn cushions for outdoor furniture
- Sharolyn (8/5): -
- Marina (8/5): - The most fabulous location. Well furnished and comfortable bed. Great shower. Dishwasher didn't work.
- julie (9/5): Lovely Binalong Bay getaway - We loved our stay at this cute little cottage. Very clean, quiet and comfortable with all that we needed for a lovely 2 night stay. Easy walk down the path to the beach.
- Ranken (10/5): -
- Desiretoretire (9/5): We had a great stay here and it’s just a few minutes from the beach/rocks. - This was a very nice place for our stay. It is a separate, self contained small housing unit with terrific views of the Bay of Fires. It had everything that we needed. The driveway is very narrow with no room to turn around once you’re all the way up. Just be careful.
- Bianca (7/5): We had a lovely time. - Amazing view and comfortable bed. Could have done a bit better for the price.
- Steph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (6/5): Too Tired would be a better representation of the property in our opinion. A little love is needed! - Cleanliness, view, location and bed comfort. Entrance with gates was too narrow and the driveway access meant we needed to reverse out each time which was difficult as visibility was limited. The property is large enough to add a turning circle. Shoe stand is the first item you see when entering the unit, it was bent and would be easy to repair/replace. Wifi is promoted but we could not find a passcode and there were no instructions for the operation of the induction cooktop or coffee pod machine, they would benefit from a compendium with the details. As the property's water supply is from a tank and there is a filter under the sink, it would be good to know the cartridge is changed regularly and satisfies potable water requirements. The bathroom requires a renovation (the main disappointment about the property). There is mould around the base of the shower, along the skirting board as a result of continued leakage from the shower basin or framing and also mould around the window frame. Loose towel rail under the window and the toilet roll holder is just about ready to fall off and, there is no heating in the bathroom which in cooler months, makes it very cold and possibly contributes to the mould issue. Leaving a small amount of toilet paper on the roll is a bit of a turn-off, knowing others have used it before and the soap container on the basin was not full and had not been wiped clean, another turn-off. Overall, the bathroom is in desperate need of some TLC. The blind on the main window in the bedroom had partially come away from the rod at its base on the right-hand side. Finally, some of the kitchen drawers do not open as they are intended (a push to open system) requiring the user to pull them open from the side or underneath. You might read this as being picky but, in our experience, attention to detail is important and helps create a feeling of being the first guests to enjoy the property. Our comments here are meant as constructive suggestions for improvement.
- Robyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant - It was advertised as fully fenced and was not - we took our dog which caused some issues
- Steven (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable and lovely view.
- Janine (8/5): Very good -
- Bernard (7/5): CAN do better; house needs significant refreshment - L’emplacement du logement avec vue mer
Logement propre et confortable dans l’ensemble, assez bien équipé No indication in the housse for internet connections ; we ask for it via email; received but not working; we then had to call; finally’ we identified thé issue: password given by mail started with a capital letter While it should havé been without; in summary, clear written instruction in the house ( like every where else) would be welcome; finally, poor internet connections ( by comparison with other location
2 tea bag and 3 coffee capsules for 2 days…. Somewhat limited … ground coffee available but no filtres
House by itself would need a significant refreshment : old paint on walls’ old furniture, some with dysfonction, especially in the kitchen
- Valerie (9/5): Relaxed stay. - The property was very clean and comfortable. Easy access to everything with a great view.
- Irene (7/5): Good - Too tyred was in a good position, it was quiet and close to the street and beach. The host was very responsive to messages, we had an issue with the TV and the kitchen needed a new frypan, the host came the next day to fix the TV and with a new frypan in hand. The stairs up to the house would be a problem if you had mobility issues, but the view up there was very nice. Also, it's a pity there wasn't a turning circle, some guests would find the driveway challenging.
- Bruce (8/5): Very good -
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely comfortable and well equipped house with great views of the Bay of Fires Coast & quiet location. All good, thank you :)
- Turnbull (10/5): A perfect place to relax and enjoy Binalong Bay - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this lovely well-appointed holiday home. It is a short walk to easily access the beautiful beach and the only cafe in the area, but off the main road and is very peaceful. Clean and comfortable throughout. Responsive owners if communication needed. Highly recommend! Everything was fine.
- Marsland (10/5): Cozy & clean place perfect for a couple getaway - A very cute, cozy & clean place that perfectly suited our needs. The walk way between streets allowed for quick access to the most beautiful beach which we loved.
- John (10/5): Pleasant house close to hiking and beaches. - We enjoyed having enough room to spread out a bit. The kitchen was well stocked and we ate in twice. We enjoyed hiking and the lovely beaches. If you love great food, try Furneaux. There are stairs up to the house.
- Steven (9/5): Great stay in beautiful location. - Great view and spacious 1 bedroom unit. The washing machine was convenient. Stairs with luggage, but then you get the view. Could not find a wifi password in our package of information.
- Gerard (9/5): Superb -
- Helena (8/5): Great location and view from comfortable clean accommodation, but needs attention to detail - Location and lovely sea view from balcony ( it said garden view so this was a bonus) A number of small details:
1. Bathroom bin not emptied since last visitor
2. Took a long time struggling to find Wi-Fi on router which didn’t work- had to email in the end and did get prompt response but bit of a pain on holiday
3. Hob not working and no instructions. Oven ok. Had to cook pasta in micro which wasn’t great.
4. Dishwasher dispenser full of old tablet and the whole thing did not work.
Both this and the hob should have had instructions, even so I think they were faulty.
5. Only left the back end of a loo roll in bathroom, eventually found some in a cupboard but again a nuisance.
6. No tea bags as advertised, only coffee and an empty tin, some of us depend on our morning cup of tea and would have bought some had we known.
6. Long concrete driveway with no turning circle and too high to roll a rental car onto grass… needs widening so one doesn’t have to reverse a very long way.
If all these things were remedied ( and apart from the last easily could be) it would be a 10, as it’s a very nice accommodation in a great location close to a beautiful beach.
- Lucia (10/5): Excellent property - Clean ,comfortable, walking distance to the beach and great value for money.
- Jenny (10/5): Too Tyred was the perfect place for our short stay. - Perfect location with a view towards the ocean and a short walk to The Hub restaurant.
- Greg (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (8/5): Very good - Quiet street with easy walking distance to the beach and the one restaurant. Up a a hill with a great view of the bay.
- Chris (8/5): Too Tyred - Quiet, good view. It was fine for our needs. Only criticism was the property looked a little tired in places. Excuse the pun.
- Christine (10/5): An excellent place to stay. - The house was immaculate in cleanliness and furnishings. A great position in a quiet setting. It felt homely. The price was very reasonable. Only 13 minutes from St Helens for dining out. I couldn't find anything negative about the property.
- Andrew (10/5): Everything you could need in an excellent location - We were grateful to experience coastal living in an excellent location to the beach and nature reserve walks. The facilities of the house were well thought out with everything we could need, including coffee pods, hairdryer, washing powder, as well as body wash and shampoo
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Neat cottage with lovely views of the Bay of Fire Driveway was long and there was no place to turn around
- John (8/5): Very good - There was no Bath mat or hand towels otherwise very good .
- Christine (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (9/5): Calm and beautiful stay. - Lovely house, excellent location, beautiful view. Nothing.
- Leann (8/5): Binalong Bay Escape - Great location to explore the bay of fires region. House had everything you need and was spotless, spacious and comfortable.
Our host was lovely and responded quickly when I reached out.
- Sueby (9/5): Lovely beach town - Close walk to the beach, excellent property with everything there you're needing. Hosts mentioned prior to arrival that there is no supermarket close so you have ample time to pick up supplies if required. Not used to a house moving with gusty winds 😅
- Renee (10/5): Delightful stay in Bicheno with everything you need. - Fabulous location. Detailed notes about the property and nearby from the owner. Very comfortable and well set up.
- Christine (10/5): A sweet cottage with views & a very comfortable bed for a perfect stay just right - Comfortable cottage with everything we wanted to enjoy our time away. Perfect view and deck & big front windows made the most of the views. Nothing we can think of, a relaxing spot in a perfect location
- Nadi (10/5): Exceptional - We really loved the place. It has all what you need. We even baked a cake during our stay. Location is good. Short distance to the restaurant in Binalong Bay. Loved everything.. Nothing to dislike..
- Kirby (9/5): Superb -
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (7/5): Great location and amazing views! - Fantastic location. Comfortable accommodation
Perfect for exploring Bay of Fires. Great views as well. Very well equipped kitchen with nice coffee machine. We are a very fit couple in our 70’s but some others might find the flight of stairs up to the entrance a challenge with luggage.
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb -
- Diane (10/5): Beachside Binalong bliss in beautiful larapuna Bay of Fires. - We loved the location and having a whole place to ourselves. Too Tyred was a lovely relaxing place to stay for a couple of days and we could happily have stayed a few weeks. The accomodation is one road back parallel to the beachfront, a short walk down a walkway opposite to the beach or rockpool areas - stunning white sand, crystal clear aqua water and impressive boulders with famous orange lichen. The house is a great size for two or a small family with a well appointed kitchen, with coffee machine, and everything thought of for your stay. Lovely comfortable bed, clean place with nice bedlinen. There are outdoor chairs, table, BBQ and kayaks that we did not use. Easy lockbox access to get in and easy communication with the hosts. Meresta is a great cafe/resturant just a short walk nearby (only place in Binalong). Top tip to get your provisions in St Helens as no shop in Binalong. Would definitely stay here again. Kookaburra sitting on the fence post, wallabies spotted in the neighbours garden and pelicans chilling in the bay. This place is paradise, don't tell too many people! But if you do, let them know Too Tyred is a great place to stay. There was nothing to not like. An outdoor shower might be good for hosing off after the beach but that's being fussy as there was a hose!
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Danny (10/5): Binalong Beauty - Excellent location overlooking Binalong Bay. Close to the restaurant and beautiful beach walks. The house is cute & comfortable, perfect for a couple. It had everything you could need. Updated kitchen & appliances were nice. Coffee pod machine was a welcome bonus. Highly recommend this house.
- Bronwyn (9/5): Beautiful Binnalong Bay - Very comfortable accomodation. Everything you need. Perfect
