Guest Reviews
- Roy (1/5): -
- Rowland (1/5): I can not recommend staying here. Avoid this place - It looks like it has the potential be a wonderful place. Large rooms, views from balconies could be nice. The property has been allowed to be run down. Overflowing garbage dumpsters, junk left out to be seen including vehicle wrecks. The rooms were cleaned very well and the restaurant, hot tub and pool have all been closed by inspectors. Even though they continue to advertise the usage of these facilities. It’s a shame.
- Moreno (1/5): - Nothing. All.
No pool
No spa
No restaurant
Water in the room doesnt work
No horses
All dirty and abbandoned
Closed from the Interior Health Authority
- Geof (7/5): Good bad and ugly - Inexpensive Long bumpy road in, not the cleanest, no breakfast as promised. Looks like resort has issues with govt re hot tubs and undrinkable water.
- Trent (3/5): - Only reasons I chose the place was closed Hut tub, pool, diner all shut down by health department
- Alokozai (7/5): It's my good exploration in the 100 miles - Location Nothing.
- Shane (1/5): Terrible - Nothing Garbage everywhere old rotten mattresses outside,
- Bobi (2/5): This resort used to be beautiful and amazing! The dining room, pool, lobby and the rooms. You now dr - Room was decently clean and the price was good if you are ok in an environment but wouldn’t recommend taking kiddos there! Lots
- JIN (9/5): Third time visiting and enjoying so much of the view and nature - Gorgeous view Standing on the side of cabin balcony, saw lots of infant diapers were dumped outdoor at the cabin foot .
- Scott (6/5): -
- Braithwaite (2/5): Unfortunately won’t be back, not safe - I liked that we were basically left alone and didn’t have to deal with a lot of people/other guests I didn’t like the run down ‘gonna be murdered here’ vibe on the driveway up. Lots of run down and abandoned buildings and cars. Also advertising states breakfast is included only to find out there’s no restaurant open and you can’t use the pool because the health authority has shut them down.
The water isn’t safe to drink
The price was good but wouldn’t risk the stay again after finding out they are operating without permits since March 2025
- Debie (8/5): - Clean quiet Nothing
- Brandle (7/5): -
- William (1/5): The first thing I met was dead fish in the fish tank, should’ve walked out at this stage. - Was probably beautiful 30 years ago. It’s a junkyard.
- Fla (6/5): -
- Lisa (4/5): -
- Suzanne (4/5): - The grounds were amazing, trails everywhere. Unfortunately they no longer offer a restaurant, pool or fitness room. Most of the cabins are rented to long- term Tennants.
Staff are very kind.
My room was quite nice but noisey. U hear thru the walls. A loud group of people next door kept me up until 5am one night. I ended up leaving a day early because of it.
- Deanna (10/5): - Great staff and very comfy beds
- Alison (7/5): - Friendly staff, and a great gym!
- Charla (9/5): Was a very pleasurable trip ! - Liked pool n hot tub. Care taker was nice. Quiet. Nice view. Patio nice Need new bed. Lots of garbage outside mattress fridges. Etc.
- ralph (5/5): -
- Braveheart (8/5): -
- Kelly (1/5): only way to sum it up is the movie "Deliverance " - I could not believe what this place has become. It used to be a place you would be excited to bring your family. Now it's a shit ( sorry about the language ) hole. The pool and hot tub were shut down by the health department. Most units occupied by transients or low income. Trucks in the parking lot with engines being removed. Garbage everywhere. Did not leave there feeling refreshed at all. The pictures you see on booking.com are at least 20 years old. Booking.com should verify places to avoid these misleading establishments.
- Maddison (4/5): Disappointing -
- Walker (3/5): Not what it used to be, do not believe Website 😭 - Remote and rustic area Run down, false advertisement using the old business website, used to be a beautiful resort back in the 80's and 90's... But now it no longer has Spa services, or dining options, and the pool and hot tubs were dirty and there were long term residents that had lots of junk and garbage around the outside and a few seedy characters....
- Junko (8/5): Quiet and clean - Was conveniently located, quiet and clean. Ken was helpful in recommending a delicious place for dinner. Lots of room to park the work truck, easy check in and out. Breakfast was a little simple. Maybe even adding some local fruit would have been nice.
- Mike (3/5): I would not return to this place, nor recommend it to anyone I actually cared for. - The air conditioner worked Upon being checked in the owner could not find my reservation and after several unsuccessful tries I found and provided the confirmation number and finally It was found. I was hastily dismissed with “If you need anything call” Nothing was mentioned about any amenities or services offered, not even the breakfast that is listed as included in the price of the stay. The room looked clean-ish but there was some pervasive off putting smell that was somewhat mitigated with a good airing out and spraying of some deodorant etc to try and mask it. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable resulting in a sore back upon waking. The grounds and buildings are dilapidated, complete with various junk sitting around in plain view, including a pile of old mattresses just off the end of the balcony and doesn’t even come close to vaguely representing the pictures on the website. I saw zero evidence this accommodation represented a “resort & spa” Perhaps that’s just the legal business name??
- Stephen (5/5): Passable -
- Deb (4/5): We felt a little uneasy with the residence living there, a man was walking down the path with an axe - The owner was friendly.
The view from our room was nice Removing the mattresses from the side of the building, removing the play apparatus from the community fire pit area, have working blow dryer in the room, have a clean coffee pot, dust the fan more often.
It wasn’t very well kept up
- Anna (5/5): Comfy beds but I wouldn't stay here again - The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean There are lots of long term people living at the resort. Also the pool/hot tub have a notice that they are not in compliance with the health authority.
- Kristen (2/5): Very poor - Facilities were very unique in a historic setting No blankets on bed. Shower curtain stuck to our body because it was installed too closely. No batteries in TV remote. Included breakfast was NoN existent! Literally no food was present in kitchen. We left without eating anything. Complete waste of money
- Asbjorn (7/5): We liked all the decorations and the room was great - It was a very interesting decor. I am sure this was a very fancy place in its time, but not anymore. We were greeting by several police cars as they were raiding the place for drugs and firearms. However, we decided to stay as the host assured us we were safe and gave us a nice quiet room.
- Liyun (7/5): Good -
- Greg (5/5): Nice location, fairly clean room but outdated and poorly kept place. - Beautiful location. Close to main highway. Clean room. Garbage all over the place. Poor maintenance. Room relatively clean but food left in the fridge.
Long term residents messy and noisy. $125!advertised-$165 actual. Unfriendly staff person. Restaurant closed, no food or beverages available. Breakfast served too late (8am start).
- Denise (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (8/5): Very good - Cost effective Too much junk around. Owners should clean the place up.
- Anthony (3/5): Poor -
- Douglas (1/5): Bad -
- Lorriaine (5/5): Passable - Room was ok. Garbage bins outside hadn't been dumped in weeks and was all over the ground. . Worry about bears. No phone in the room. Back door nob to balcony broken. We got locked out of our room and had to use another patron who was in the next rooms cellophone to call the one and only person who runs this resort to come and open our door .I also had to ask for a blow dryer. Walking around the bathtub needed to be redone. Grass outside was approximately 2 feet long. The toilet in the lobby area couldn't have been cleaner.
- Robert (3/5): HUH - No towels, were to go to Tim Horton's for breakfast but clerk didn't tell us we needed a q r code so no breakfast.
No check in clerk, no wifi iNo clerk at check in dest, no towels, no wifi told to go to Tim Hortons for breakfast, but were not informed about the Q R code, so no breakfast from them. They are charging full price but not providing anything. other then a place to sleep Help from staff,
- Matt (5/5): Not a bad place to crash for a night but nothing special - The place has lots of potential but obviously things are done on the cheap.
- Christiaan (2/5): This place should be taken off of Booking.com - This place has great potential. Unfortunately, it is extremely run down. I'm not sure how booking.com can allow this property on their website.
I use Booking.com with the trust that properties would have to maintain a certain standard being on the site.
This property is not the case.
Beautiful location. Unfortunately, it is a dump. Trash and abandoned vehicles scattered around the property, guests seem to be long-term residents, strong smell of cat urine in building, we even had the dirty towels of the previous guest in our room...
- Mariana (8/5): Very good -
- Iris (8/5): Great room! Charming rustic buildings. - Our room was clean and comfortable. Sheets and towels were great. Quiet location. I think the proprietor is finding it hard to find staff. He did the best he could to make us comfortable. There was no mention of a pool or breakfast. When I inquired about breakfast he gave me a couple muffins. The resort has so much potential but lack of staff, funds and/or desire is taking a toll on this diamond in the rough. Or maybe we just came during the off season.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christina (7/5): Good - beds were comfortable said breakfast was included but couldn't find staff at 7am so assumed there was no breakfast
- Calliopeem (5/5): Basic, okay for the price - The staff member was very nice, did his best to help me find what I need for breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable. If you need a bed to crash for a night, it's an okay stop for the price along the way. Don't expect much. Run down, some neighbours were partying loudly outside with unleashed dogs. The whole motel complex seemed to know each other, which was nice in a way, but strange come to a motel party outside my door. :P
- Steve (5/5): Possible destination for a family getaway. Some shortcomings when you are in a hurry. - Clean and quiet rooms, nice view, nice property. Would be good for a family getaway. It may not be suitable for business. There was nobody available at the check-in, and I had to stand outside for a good 10-15 minutes waiting for staff to arrive after calling the number posted. I had informed of the check-in time ahead of time via booking.com. At check-in, although the room was already paid for, I had to leave my credit card information, and the staff was writing down CVV2. This is in breach of protocol. It took the staff good 5-10 minitues to figure out which room to check me into over a phone call. If I recall correctly I was given a key without a fob, and no directions to the room in the dark on a rather large property. I had to ask explicitly for directions. Staff said to the effect of we are sorry we are still trying to figure this out. They have a nice property. They just need to get up to speed by enrolling in a hospitality programme. I heard that Cornell and UNLV have good programs.
- David (7/5): Good - The room was fine with everything one needed. The property was shabby and unkept. Quite a bit junk around the grounds like old mattresses. The large steel garbage containers were overflowing. It almost appeared abandoned on first impression.
- David (4/5): Site and facilities are beautiful and have great potential but management/owners are below par. - Room was okay. It was clean and large but that did not make up for the rest of the resort. I was lead to believe there was a restaurant on site and that breakfast was included. Restaurant was closed and breakfast was abysmal. No choice really other than some Costco muffins (stale) and bread for toast but nothing to top the toast with. There were boiled eggs.
Check in was a hassle as there was no one at the desk. Someone came out of the spa but told me she had nothing to do with my stay. Had to call the desk person who eventually arrived, with no appologies.
- April (7/5): What we needed. Not busy, relaxing, quiet, private - Quiet, view, Fix pool an sauna, great potential.
- William (3/5): Avoid - It used to be a nice place No restaurant, no bar, and breakfast is a joke
- Ryan (4/5): Disappointing -
- Troy (1/5): Absolutely regret taking my family and grandkids there for Xmas - There was absolutely nothing we liked.
This place has been turned into low income housing. This place was amazing before new owners bought it. Place is falling apart , garbage everywhere, says it’s a health spa but there is no spa. Says there is a restaurant and bar but both have been closed down and haven’t been open for a very long time. Says there is skiing and rentals but it has been closed again for a long time.
Mattresses, box frames and garbage everywhere.
We found dirty panties in cupboard and another set of panties in our bed. Stains and hair on linen's on all beds. Not sure what was running down multiple walls. We had to wash walls and clean everything ourselves before we could unpack.
I would never recommend this place to anyone.
It is very sad to see how rundown this place has become. Absolutely everything could be better. We had a horrible experience. This place needs new owners to put it back to the glory it once was.
This was a real shame to see and stay at.
- Mia (8/5): Very good -
- Kimmie (4/5): Disappointing -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the pool and hot tub! My room was clean and had a beautiful view! It was nice and quiet too.
I'm excited to head back during the summer or later in the winter!
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miguel (8/5): Very good -
- Ray (5/5): Passable - Business is obviously experiencing difficult times that does not enhance their efforts to meet customer expectations.
Most unfortunate!
- Allman (7/5): We arrived in the evening and left early next morning. It was excellent value. - Our room was comfortable, clean, quiet and warm. The Manager was very helpful.
- John (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tiago (8/5): Very good - Ok! Good place Ok. The breakfast was too simple
- Michelle (3/5): Price is ok if you just need somewhere to sleep for the night - The price Its rundown not like the pictures at all, it has no spa, no restaurant & the pool have all been shutdown by interior health
Though the beds were comfy there were stains on the sheets
There breakfast included didn’t start until 8:30am & I have no idea where is was suppose to be
It was dark outside with no lights to come into the building, but don’t worry at 3:30am the outside lights came on & lit up the whole room
When I went to check out in the morning the door was locked & there was no where to leave the key
- Ralph (4/5): Rundown, and unfriendly owner do not stay there. - It had a fridge, the bed sheets and towels were clean. Ample hot water and the Wi-Fi worked brilliantly. Great pool and hot tubs although one hot tub didn’t work. The gym upstairs was good We were greeted in the hallway with used sheets that had not been moved by cleaning.
The room was very dirty, the floor had not been cleaned and there was dust everywhere, even found a hair grip just under the bed. The curtain was not blackout. There was no plug for the sink.
The whole place is run down and has been left to rot basically, the owner / front of house was very unfriendly. He tried to over charge us for our two night stay, he was set the payment up for $322 when it was $267? Skimming us he tried to. If you are unlucky enough to stay here check the price you pay as I read something at the reception about a 14% gratuity to be added to bills.
There were homeless people living there, an agreement with the government apparently.
The breakfast was minimal, with wooden throw away cutlery and paper plates. The dining area was very dark and dingy.
The route to the gym was not lit and we could not find a light switch, we had to use our phones to guide us, my husband knocked his leg on chairs in the hallway getting there. We understand that this was once a nice place, years ago. The advertisement on booking.com needs to be changed as some of this is false advertising. There are no horses there and you cannot get a hack, which we wanted to do.
- Candace (4/5): Disappointing - It could be such a better hotel. The setting with views of the forest behind is stunning. The place was rundown. The pool had been out of commission for ages without notification. We specifically booked this place on a road trip to enjoy the pool as a respite from the long drive.
Standing near the pool in my swimsuit, there were loads of tubes and what looked like a pool cleaning apparatus. Rather than tell me the pool didn't work, the staff asked for my room number. This used to be a nice place to stay.
- Hyett (7/5): Good -
- Kerry (9/5): Great location, clean rooms. - Location was great, room was clean and comfortable, and the cat on the property was very friendly. No complaints. We were double-billed upon checkin with a mixup between Booking.com and the temporary fill-in staff, but it was eventually fixed.
- Leslie (5/5): Passable -
- Hester (3/5): It was terrible. - Pretty location We were put in a room next to a permanent resident who smoked. Laundry & trash & personal items littered the outdoor patio which served as the entrance for 4 upstair units.
- Michelle (3/5): When we checked on they assigned us a room, he walked us to our room and unlocked toe door and the room was dirty. He th - The bed was comfortable and was close to where we needed to be. Very rude at the check in. The rate advertised for the nights we were there was advertised on their website for $50 less each night, wouldn’t do anything about it.
- Kim (8/5): It was a pleasant environment over all - It was cute, a little rustic like a ranch. They give you coffee and sugar in your room but there was no cream or whitener for your coffees. They had a tiny continental breakfast, but therer was no milk for the cereal and there was nobody around to ask. If you do want anybody, you have to phone a number and wait so we just left and went and got our breakfast somewhere else. The place was lovely, but there was just no staff to help you with any little questions.
- Sandra (3/5): Would not stay there again - Location was good for an overnight stay Very dated and dirty. Poor renovation.
- Karen (5/5): False advertising - Clean rooms This is not a Spa resort as per description..
Poor continental breakfast. Stale muffins, coffee cream had soured, no milk for the cereal.
Pool and hot tubs were not working.
- Darren (5/5): Run down facilities but great location - Beautiful location Property is quite run down but has enormous potential. The pool was empty. There were cars in the lot that were in differing states of repair. It looks almost abandoned.
- Cristina (1/5): False advertising! DO NOT STAY HERE! - The location is nice and quiet. False advertising! There is NO pool, no sauna, no hot tub, no restaurant. All of it has been closed for over a year and it does not pass public health and safety AND they just ended a lawsuit. AND they tipped themselves $27 on the room ! Got it back because I brought it up but otherwise they would have overcharged us and kept the money. Breakfast … bring your own!
- Brian (8/5): Great - Cleanliness and solitude No breakfast for early travelling
- Hyett (7/5): Good -
- Frederick (9/5): Superb -
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (7/5): Good -
- Gordon (9/5): Superb - Excellent quiet location for those who want to stay away from the downtown area.
Large comfortable room.
- Gavin (1/5): Terrible. Wouldn’t go back ever. Spa??? Definitely not. Dirty, unprofessional staff - Nice area Front desk clerk booked me in while dripping wet as he was hanging out in the closed hot tub. Pool was closed. Bed had clearly had someone in it before I got there. Crumbs in the sheets moldy muffins in the fridge
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Ken (7/5): It was a pleasant quiet stay. Overall it was good. - Breakfast was really good, a great location. The room we were assigned to should have been checked to be sure it was clean & setup from the previous guests. We were promptly given another room. Our room only had one set of towels, should have been 2 sets especially bath towels. There was no bath mat.
- Lorna (6/5): A little disapointing - The bed was comfortable and it was very quiet. The curtains didn't block out the light and there is a fanlight at the top of the door with no curtains so it's very light. Their website says that there is a restaurant but there isn't. It's all very run down and neglected. Such a shame because it could be lovely.
- Colin (7/5): Good -
- Trudy (5/5): Passable -
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional - Gym is amazing, ken is great he is the owner and goes above and beyond to do things for his guests. Property has history Some rift raff but that’s about it could use some updating but it’s good.
- Terrence (6/5): Pleasant - The staff that assisted us were great, the owner was not around and had he been would have asked for refund, he told the staff to charge us more than we were confirmed and to put in a mediocre room, she refused. That is the only reason we stayed at this property. Not as advertised, no free breakfast, kitchen closed by health department for months as was spa and pool. No facilities available whatsoever. Had to drive 4 miles for dinner. False advertising. Only stayed because staff went beyond for us, not owner.
- Sean (7/5): Good - Spacious clean room, friendly professional staff, comfortable bed Breakfast could be improved (fruit, choice of cereals, for example)
- Rindisbacher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kyle (8/5): Very good - The gym was awesome and the beds were super comfy. Sheets were clean. The place is definitely not a spa. It has lots of potential but it’s def not there. Pool/hot tub shut down with list of infractions. Breakfast was not there even though was told when booked there was breakfast included. Place is run by the homeless that stay there as the owner has other properties. Owner is easy to deal with over the phone but definitely felt sketchy. Would stay again but only due to the price it was and the gym.
- Josh (2/5): This was the biggest let down of any place I have ever stayed at.But I did not see any cockroaches or bed bugs which is - The view from the porch. Completely false advertising. The website said it was a working ranch with horses and offered guided tours . It does not have any horses . Turns out the horses have been gone for a year. There was no breakfast. The pool and spa and hot tub were not open . There are supposed to be to 2 restaurants on site which were closed down. The window to the porch didn’t lock so there was 0 security . The long term guests in the cabins were sketchy and made my family feel unsafe . There is almost no lighting at this”resort “ for safe walking and driving on the property at night .2 random dogs walking on the property at all hours . The owner overcharged me by $5 compared to what the price was listed on booking.com.
if you google the owner he was sued by former employees who he fired as he only wants Asian employees who will work with no over time pay.
The pillows smelled like urine.
- Toni (3/5): I would say 100% misrepresentation by both booking.com and on the “resort spa” website. - Has potential to be amazing No indication on booking.com or on actual website that the pool, hot tubs and spa are not currently running. Operator made us pay upon check in and overcharged rate quoted by booking (I did not notice initially). When we arrive we had no idea where to check in, main building was locked up. And the included breakfast was cereal and a muffin (which we did not partake in). The room had no blackout blinds, and a light from the balcony shone in the room all night…also no plug for the tub…not only could we not soak in the advertised hot tub but we couldn’t even have a bath. The floor had such a big heave that the bathroom door could not be shut and then reopened without the use of force.
