- Shaina (10/5): We enjoyed our stay at Iris B and B and would happily return. - Irina was an absolutely amazing hostess. When we arrived she offered us to change rooms so our family with two kids would be more comfortable. We had an amazing view of the river canyon through a picture window. Irina helped us call a taxi to Haghpat monastery where started a lovely 12km hike to Sanahin, which I’d highly recommend. And she organized a taxi for us to continue on to Dilijan—all at decent prices. The meals were also simple but tasty: breakfast of eggs to order, pancakes, and yogurt with homemade jam/bread/cheese. We ordered dinner each night as well and she made a different meal each night and we enjoyed both of them. Beds were soft but comfortable. Water was hot but ran out quickly due to solar power (ideally, take showers while still daytime!) The place was 4km out of Alaverdi and we didn’t have a car, so we needed a taxi to come and go. But not terrible as long as you aren’t in a hurry!

- Kristina (10/5): Truly hospitality at its finest! - The place is a stunning oasis - especially the all-wooden section, which feels so special! The interior is beautiful, and the fan was a real lifesaver at night. We loved spotting so many interesting animals and insects in the garden. It was also wonderful meeting other guests at dinner. The breakfasts and dinners were simply delicious - everything home-cooked, with homemade jams, and we felt so well taken care of. Irina and Marina, you have created a truly special place. - yiting (10/5): - Located about 3km from Alaverdi town center (a 40-minute walk), Iris Guesthouse is accessible by marshrutka from Tbilisi - just ask the driver to drop you at the guesthouse to save some walking distance. I arrived at 11pm, and was immediately touched by Armenian hospitality - fellow passengers kindly contacted the host and helped translate to arrange my pickup. What a warm welcome to Armenia! Though I'd booked a dorm bed, the host upgraded me to a private room with bathroom since I was the only guest. The room was spotless and even had a charming little balcony. The meals were another highlight! Both dinner and breakfast were generous, featuring homemade jam that was to die for. The dolma was honestly the best I've ever tasted - I still dream about it! Such memorable hospitality - I truly hope to return someday.

Si è offerta di tenermi i bagagli durante la mia visita ai monasteri,cosa che per noi ciclisti può essere molto importante, nonostante alla sera non mi sia più fermata lì a dormire una seconda notte Colazione ottima. Dispone di una bella veranda per stare al rientro dalle gite. La struttura è un po' datata, potrebbe essere rinnovata un po'.

- Angela (9/5): Will stay again next time in Alaverdi - The room was cozy, comfortable, and full of character. Our host Irena was kind and accommodating, and gave our family a room upgrade free of charge. The home cooked meals were super tasty and an excellent value add-on. Our children enjoyed their room and visiting with the friendly cats. And the sound of the rushing Debed river was the perfect white noise to put us to sleep after a long day on the road. Our stay was slightly disrupted due to unexpected problems with the hot water; however Irena and her team worked quickly to resolve the issue. And we were still able to use hot water in one of the bathrooms.

But the room we stayed in was pretty small. There were no cupboards or storage space. However, we did not mind as it was for one night. The owner, Irina, is a gracious host. She is warm, friendly, and most importantly, can speak English.Her cat is a marvel. We felt sad saying bye to him.

Bella e grande la zona comune, con la possibilità di cenare e fare colazione (a pagamento) nella struttura. E' possibile assistere anche a cooking class, cosa che trovo molto interessante per approfondire la conoscenza del cibo armeno. La nostra camera spaziosa e accogliente e tutto molto pulito. Ci hanno tenuto compagnia anche i tanti gattini.

Non vi era Irina, proprietaria del B&B ma c’erano Marine e sua figlia Tatev che hanno saputo colmare perfettamente la sua assenza. Il loro sorriso quando ci insegnavano a fare il tipico Gata è la cosa che più ci porteremo nel cuore in questo viaggio fantastico in Armenia. Il resto del B&B è comodo, in mezzo alla natura e perfetto per chi vuole fare una tappa al nord dell’Armenia!

- Mary Malissa (10/5): - The guesthouse owner takes great care to make sure guests are warm and comfortable. She also helps with any travel you are doing. You can even contact her and let her know which minibus you are taking to the town nearby and ask her to call the driver to tell him to let you out at the guesthouse. The house is a lovely old place, like grandma's house. There are nice views of the canon from it and you will sleep peacefully to the sound of the river below.
