Guest Reviews
- ACCESS: My property is only accessible by boat (which is directly across from Don Jorge's dock). It is a VERY short ride that takes about 2 minutes.
- FOOD & DRINK: There are no stores, supermarkets, or restaurants on my side of the river so make sure to bring snacks or drinks with you before you cross the river. (You can find two small supermarkets right across the river before we take you over. If you need to go to the store, you can let me know at any time). There are also a couple of restaurants as well right on the docks (Don Jorge's and Las Vegas)
**The water in Sierpe is NOT SAFE TO DRINK and may cause some stomach issues so we suggest you bring bottled water with you, or I have bottled water available on the dock for 500 colones or $1.00 USD. **
- CHECK IN: I will shuttle you by boat to Oso de Osa anytime after 2pm (the standard check-in start time). You will receive 1 free boat shuttle to and from the property per day, additional trips across the river are available for a minimal fee. Early check in MAY also be available for an additional fee. Simply contact me on WhatsApp at 506 8969 8635 and I'll bring the boat over to Don Jorge's or Las Vegas!
- Lucy (9/5): Great place in Sierpe - Peacefu place to stay in Sierpe. Our host Wade was excellent, making us coffee in the morning and ferrying us over the river whenever we needed. The bed was very comfortable and we loved sitting on the dock in the evening. The toilet and shower were a little dirty.
- Alessandro (10/5): Immerso nella natura. -
- Riccardo (8/5): A stay in nature. - Excellent communication with the owner&manager, who is also extremely available and friendly. He honestly made the whole stay better for us. His dogs are friendly and lovely.
The cabin is very basic but that's what we paid for. It has a capacious fridge; no hot water but we really did not need it. The whole property is immersed in nature. Fireflies at night! Nevertheless, just two minutes by boat from the main turistic meeting point.
The village is a very quiet rural one. I think the bathroom needs some refurbishment and maintainance. However, no accidents or funny smells.
Considering how vast is the property, maybe the cabins could have been placed a bit more distant to each other.
- Vero (10/5): -
- Daniela (10/5): The most relaxing time in the deep south!
- Dianne (4/5): Neglected and run down. - The setting is beautiful and the place has real potential. The owner was super helpful before we arrived and quick to reply to queries. Reiner was looking after the place while we were there and he was very friendly. Getting to and fro by boat was easy. The whole place appeared to be neglected and run down with the chalets lacking maintenance. We used our own towels rather than the one provided. It had a lot of promise so was disappointing and the worst accommodation we stayed in in Costa Rica and we did stay in other cabins or rooms of similar cost over our 3 week trip.
- Wim (9/5): Superb - Very beautiful cabinas in an idyllic location. The boat was not available all the time to go across.
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional - Totally remote place, beautiful and peaceful.
- Elias (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pepita (10/5): A brilliant experience - Thomas the host who happily ferried us back and forth and the amazing location and Marley Nothing
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Mote (10/5): Peaceful - We really enjoyed our stay at Oso de Osa. The host was very accommodating and made sure everything was perfect during our stay. We cannot recommend his cabanas enough.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - Its a super chilled place, you really have the full Jungle experience. The Owner that rents them is really cool, he helps you with anything and also brings across the river whenever you want.
There‘s a dog named Marley, also a amazing dog, he protects all the cabines.
- Don (8/5): Very good -
- Stefan (7/5): Good -
- Cornelia (9/5): There you will find peace and tranquillity - On the way to Drake Bay we stayed one night in the Oso de Osa Finca y Eco-Resort in Sierpe. The accommodation is located on ‘the other side’ of the river, i.e. not directly in the centre of Sierpe. Our host therefore picked us up by boat and took us to the accommodation. He was always ready to take us across if we wanted to go back to the village for dinner, for example. The accommodation is very simply furnished, there is no luxury, but you have everything you need and it is the ultimate nature experience because the cabins are located directly on the river and next to the adjacent forest. You can find absolute peace and tranquillity there. We were the only guests that night, so it was really quiet. There is a deck with hanging chairs and armchairs from which you can watch the river. That was really relaxing, you can also see some animals (birds, crabs, crocodiles, etc.). You don't get any food on this side of the river, so you should take food with you if you need it. Nothing.
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good - small bungalow in the jungle, super quiet and relaxing. Wade is extremely helpful and well attending. i loved my two nights here, listening to the frogs at night and relaxing in the hammock at the dock. having Marly (i think is her name?) coming late in the evening to spend the night on my doormat and leaving early morning felt like extra protection from the wild jungle life 😊
great to have a short break in your trip. some fixing might be good, for example the toilet was loose and felt like it could break through the floor anytime.
- Andre (10/5): Exceptional - Peace and quiet place, becoming one with nature, friendly owner, deck by water with breeze,
Very good matress and fan , planty of animals, horse, chicken, sheep, birds, lizard, alligator,
If want quiet place to relax and enjoy nature in a rustic style. This is your place to be
- Olivia (10/5): A unique and relaxing experience. - An amazing stay. The property is on the opposite side of the river to the main town and can only be accessed by boat. Wade, the owner was very helpful and provided transport whenever it was needed. He was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to book our tours on request. The property is very tranquil and beautiful. There is a very pleasant sitting area overlooking the river where you can watch the world go by. It certainly was an experience. There was nothing to dislike, for us it was perfect!
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Great location across the river (1 minute boat) from Sierpe. Wade is very accommodating in ferrying you to and from Sierpe, but as he pre-warns you best to collect snacks/drinks before heading over for the night. Grounds are nice to be in - we watched sunset with macaws flying overhead and the cabin was very comfortable.
- Mark (8/5): Simple accommodation close to the ferry departure for Drake - This is about the experience not the comfort, don’t come here if you want to be pampered, do come here if you want to take a walk on the wild side Didn’t realise until we got here that there’s no food on this side of the river in Sierpe so we had to go back over .
If we’d known in advance we could have planned better
- Dru (1/5): Filthy & Expensive - It had every reason to be a good stay as the setting is excellent It was filthy, tiles were falling of the shower cubicle. The shower dripped all night. A block of used soap was offered as an amenity! The bathroom floor was covered in previous visitors hair and scum. There were hundreds of ants which bit my feet when I put on my sandals, I had to wear trainers to go to the loo!. I think the damp, frayed towelI was used for the dog, surely not a guest? I would have left but was trapped as you can only access the cabins by ferry, and Wade had gone to bed. The worst place in my month long trip by far. No offer of a refund or some compensation, over priced and not recommended. Every guest getting the ferry back across the river was complaining! A shame as the place could be great.
- Kj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - Wade was a great host
- Lukas (10/5): By far one of the most special places we stayed on our Costa Rica trip. Wade is an absolutely great, personable and atte - Very quiet place on the other side of the river bank. Wade (host) picks you up by boat (at any time) and looks after his guests very attentively and has lots of exciting stories to tell. We were only here for one night and would have loved to stay longer in this magical, deserted place in the middle of the mangroves. If you're lucky, you might see crocodiles nesting next door. It's very simple and rustic there, you shouldn't expect luxury, but that's what makes it so special. You should definitely stock up at the supermarket beforehand, you are travelling to a "desert island", so to speak ;-)
- Anders (10/5): Exceptional - What an incredible place to start a journey to the rest if the Osa Penisula. Do yourself a favour and make it across the river. Its magic. Thank you Wade.
- Kamie (10/5): Awesome place!!!! - Awesome property! We saw Toucans and Macaws right outside our door and our cabin was clean and comfortable. Wade is a superb host that went above and beyond for us. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again when in the area.
- Leonie (8/5): Fun, unique and friendly. - This was a unique experience! Wade, the owner, made our stay very entertaining. He was accomodating and friendly. Seipre is a bit off the travellers path, but it was a worthwhile stop to have a different experience.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - after our first night in san José we wanted to find some peace and quiet and wow, this was perfect! wade (the owner) is very friendly and will help you with anything you ask. it was the perfect start to our vacation in Costa rica and I would recommend everyone to stay here!
