- Josh (3/5): - I booked At The Beach in the Aegean building for my partner’s birthday, hoping to make it a really special weekend away. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing, especially considering how expensive the unit was. When we arrived, we were told the lift was faulty and that we would need to stop on every floor on the way down from our apartment. We were also told the garage remote was not working properly. We were understanding of this, but things just kept going wrong. The WiFi did not work at all throughout our stay. We could not stream anything in the evenings, which made it hard to relax. It is difficult to say if it was due to the old television or poor internet connection, but either way it was unusable. Halfway through the trip, the rooftop spa stopped working. We let the owners know and they came to have a look, saying it needed a new part. There was no apology, no offer of compensation, and no concern shown that the main feature of the property was now unusable. This was frustrating, as the spa was the highlight of the unit, especially since it does not face the beach. There was also an unpleasant smell on the rooftop, like mould coming from the gutters, which was off-putting. Then the lift completely broke down and we had to use the fire escape stairs for the rest of the stay. Going anywhere became exhausting, especially being on the top floor. The day before checkout, the owner sent a message reminding us to leave by 10am. While I know this is standard, it felt unnecessary and a little inconsiderate given all the issues we had. There was no care shown when things went wrong, yet a lot of focus on making sure we left on time. I really wanted this to be a relaxing and memorable birthday weekend for my partner, but it ended up being stressful and disappointing instead. For such a pricey apartment, the experience did not live up to expectations at all.
