Guest Reviews
- Christine (3/5): It was described as a studio flat with fridge and microwave. It had neither, just a big empty space. There was a kettle - Comfortable beds and a decent bathroom. Pillows as thin as a slice of bread. We had to ask for many missing things.
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Stéphane (6/5): Ok for a short stay, but no charm - Good location, quiet, beds were comfortable Room in the basement with dirty entrance, some missing equipment (bed lamps), no AC
- Victoria (8/5): Great location from Bayswater or Queensway stations. Near to Hyde park. Lots of local restaurants - Location was excellent.
Hotel clean and tidy.
Towels and water provided. Room could have been bigger as had 3 single beds.
The amount of stairs to get to the room.
- Lorinda (8/5): Very good -
- Tracy (6/5): Served a purpose but wouldn’t recommend - Its location is perfect and the staff (when present) were polite and helpful. The very tired room with either boiling hot water or cold water for the shower, the waste water held in the sink due to poor drainage. The window was kept open with a piece of 3x2 wood and the mattress needed renewing. There was no fridge as described.
- Julie (2/5): Disappointing & I would not recommend staying here. - Location The whole place is a desperate need of a good revamp. Not worth the premium price paid even with the prime location.
Old fashioned, stuffy, small room. Bathroom (if you can call it that!) tiny, crammed into one corner of the room. The shower did work but was far too hot & we could not make it cooler.
Walls all scuffed, floor covering a bit loose. A real case of make do & mend everywhere.
- Deena (1/5): Worst hotel stay in my life - Nothing, just the location They made us climb 5 flights of stairs and carry our bags at the same time. No1 helped us with our bags at all. It was unbelievably hot, to the point where we struggling to stay in the room and continuously sweating, we asked for fans multiple times with no luck. One of the staff said it should be cooler in the morning. Water pressure for the shower was terrible.
- Claire (2/5): A bed to sleep in at night. - Location Extremely run down.
- Stephanie (7/5): Nice - It was close to Hyde park, near lots of fast food places the room was lovely The workers were abit of a flirt
- Jemma (5/5): Done what it needed to do! - It was beautiful from the outside and in a good location for what we needed Very dated, broken chairs in the room and not very clean.
- David (6/5): I would rather spend more at another place - Location was great Reception not helpful, they could not even provide an extra pillow. Another family arrived from Singapore and found out their booked room was unavailable and got one down the street (overflow room). Reception is only attendied certain hours. Receptions guys are not customer service oriented. There is construction noise heard throughout the day. Limited emergency evacuation signage.
- Holly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bryce (7/5): Good -
- Cheryl (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michelle (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (4/5): Okay but not what we paid for. Never again - Nice location No kitchenette like we were promised, uncomfortable beds with the worst pillows ever and when we asked for extra pillows they had to go into an empty room and get it from there so we only got one. Our room was five stairs up and there was no lift, the hallway smelled like mold and one of the fans was broken so it was very hot in our room
When we were going to collect our bags after we had checked out the doorbell didn’t work and we stood outside banging on the door for about twenty minutes before some guy (who looked like he just had woken up) opened the door for us. This was around two in the afternoon
- Christine (5/5): Good location, lovely staff. Crap facility - Good location. Staff were lovely Toilet in our room didn’t work and smelt. Water wouldn’t leave bottom of shower until toilet was flushed. Toilet loud.
One bed was ok, the other had a terrible lean on it.
The stairs were scary
- Ramli (4/5): Other than the location of the hotel (which was v.good), it was a disappointing stay in London. - The location of the hotel is very good, near Hyde Park, shops, eateries and transportations. The hotel did not have any elevator. We had to climb the narrow stairs to the 4th floor. The rooms were hot during summer months and there was only one small wall fans inside the room, it was very uncomfortable. The small kitchen provided did not have water supply at the sink.
- Abbey (6/5): Pleasant - Good location and friendly staff. Somewhere easy to stay if you don’t have a big budget. We were the 4th floor which had multiple staircases and no lift so that was a struggle with luggage. We randomly got a waft of a sewage smell too which wasn’t great. Our beds felt like they were holding only by a screw. No room to move about and the bathroom was sooo small. Very hot as well even though there was a fan.
- Aileta (7/5): Good - It is near bayswater station, very good location to stay when going around London. The room is clean, easy check in and check out. The only downside is there is no lift so it might be difficult if with heavy luggage or with mobility disability.
- Jarno (6/5): Cheap spacious hot room - Quite cheap hotel, comfortable beds, good space in the room, good shower and toilets. Very good location near Queensway and Bayswater metro stations. Easy access though our triple bed room was in the ground floor. Okay curtains and window opens/closes. Bed sheets and duvet covers were clean but occasionally I think there were some old stains. Didn't bother us but it may disturb someone. The same with beds itself they weren't the cleaniest if you took a look under sheets. Beds were not made every day but mostly yes.
Originally we had 4 towels, one for each plus one into bathroom, but after switching to clean ones we only got 3 back. I didn't like that.
There's no aircondition and during hot 25-35 days and 19-26 nights we were a bit sweaty. There was a big fan on the wall blowing air on the beds. It was okay and noisy. We were able to sleep regardless but for some this could be a deal breaker.
There was supposed to be a kitchenette and a fridge but they had just taken them into repairs/change or whatever. We didn't see them at all during our one week trip. Very disappointed!
Just outside the window was a construction site and they started every morning before 8:00 o'clock. It wasn't too vig deal for me because of the constant noise from the fan. Anyway, it wasn't nice and it spoiled the view.
- Carla (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gemma (2/5): Joke - Location We booked this hotel as we where going to a festival in hyde park- i called the property last Tuesday (26/6) at 10am in the morning to ask about early check in as we would be arriving at 8am the man on the phone said iv put a note on your file just come leave ur number and we will get the room sorted for u first and call when ready- we got to the property they said we don't have ur booking on our system only booking.com, eventually when he found our booking I said that I had called about early check in and that the man had left a note on the file explaining- he said there was no chance that rooms whould be ready between 3 and half 3(check in is 3 so why later?)- I said but we called and where told it would be okey and we would most likely get the room about 12 after it had been cleaned (concert started at 3 but gates opened at 1 so there would be no time to get ready any later than that) the guy behind the desk wasn't very helpful and really just didn't care at all, attitude wasn't great from the begining- we sat around for a little while trying to work out a new plan as we where not going to be given the room early we asked if it was okey to get ready in the lobby as we had no where else to go, he said yes and so we did while we where there we seen at least 4 check outs and heard a man knocking on the doors and saying house cleaning (so rooms where getting done while we where there..) a family came in early for check in (going to the same festival that we where) and the man behind the desk told them to come back at 2! So how come they where getting in early? Anyway we finished getting ready left our bags in the office and asked if someone will be here late to check us in as we wouldn't be back untill 12ish he said yes and we went on our way this was at about half 10am.
- Anonymous (5/5): Reflection for money, one night was fine - Location was brilliant for concert in Hyde Park.
Able to leave luggage until we were ready to leave for home
Fast check in and out
Fab shower with products provided The heat in the down stairs family room, no natural air
No blinds on the windows
- Jessica (1/5): Dirty, unhygienic and not a pleasant experience - The location Dirty, unclean and not what was advertised to us. Our room had mouse/rodent poo, cigarette butts and stains on the walls and mattresses. The tap in the kitchenette (as it was advertised as) had no running water. We did not receive any courtesy of advising us that there would be renovations happening in the rooms next to us - by this I mean complete refits of the kitchens so the disruption to us was high.
The best thing about the property is its location.
We left after one night even though we were booked for three nights as we couldn’t stay another moment.
I would not recommend this hotel to other travellers.
- Hugrún (1/5): Bad - It was very dirty and broken chairs, not for family The bed where good
- Kamil (8/5): Okay for the price and location - The location was terrific. Metro was right around the corner, it was next to Hyde park, and there was a tourist bus station nearby as well. Very spacious room with numerous beds. The outlets were not very good. Most of the USB slots in the outlets didn't work. The bathroom had a bad smell most of the time due to smells coming from out of the sink's plumbing. The top of the bed frames were very dusty and there was no kitchen area. The room only had the bathroom sink, no microwave, and no fridge.
- Victoria (7/5): It served its purpose but we won’t come again would look for something else in the area - 24 hour check in. Great location. No air conditioning. Bathroom was small and hard to get dressed in. Poor water pressure. Nothing felt clean. There was a pigeon in the hall.
- Anonymous (1/5): Our stay here was horrendous and not at all worth the money spent. - When I booked this hotel it was called “The Chapter Hyde Park” I booked it because it led me to believe it was located next to the concert area. After a few weeks of booking they changed the name of the hotel back to “The Chapter hotel”
Completely false advertising because they knew a lot of people would be interested because of the concert in Hyde park. We were a 50 minute walk away from the event.
There’s no lift there, we were put into what I can call a tiny attic space which was completely horrendous. I made this booking in November of last year. It wasn’t a clean place it was run down and extremely dated. Staff were not friendly or nice .
I would 100% not recommend this place.
- Ertan (1/5): Keine nicht - We just liked the location of the facility. I can say that the other elements are very bad and terrible. We kept it as a suite room, but it was very small and not clean at all. Our sheets have not been replaced for 4 days. The room was never cleaned. Although we said that water flows very little from the fountains, nothing has been done. I had trouble taking a shower. They didn't even put toilet paper, we wanted to give it that way. In short, it's terrible except for the location.
- Cristina (5/5): decent for a few days - Location - nice area, close to both Queensway and Bayswater underground stations, iron + board available in the room zero soundproofing and it's very loud during the night,
no air-conditioning; just ventilators
bathroom sink was slightly clogged cause it was draining very slow
no matt to step on when getting out of the shower
towels weren't changed daily
- Shezana (7/5): Good -
- Yvonne (5/5): Location good, price normal for London, room not worth the money - No Breakfast available, but that is fine, easy to reach with underground, hat was the reason for the choice. Shower looked rather new and clean Very small room, handle of the "wardrobe" broken, but you would not want to store things in there anyway. Stariway to the room would not be suitable for some people.
- Kätriin (6/5): Improvement is needed - Location is great and room was spacious:) Was able to see some trash that previous guests probably left. It was also super hot in the room and the air conditioner provided didn’t really help, although it was turned on all the time.
- Jordan (7/5): Good -
- Janthia (6/5): Perfectly adequate if you just want an ok place to stay. - The staff were friendly and tried their best to be helpful.
We had the basement apartment which is spacious with comfortable beds with clean bedding and plenty of towels provided. The shower was good.
The locality was just right for what we wanted to do. The hard flooring was grubby and the carpet didn’t appear to have been vacuumed thoroughly.
There were no instructions on how to use the cooker but we were able to use the microwave.
Washing the dishes we’d used was tricky but we did our best!
- Gorski (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (7/5): Good -
- Jagdish (5/5): Good location - Location No life or air con
It needs a update internally
- Charles (5/5): Ok for price good facilities in room oven microwave to cook a meal - Clean good price good location for the Royal parks Staff only interested in lounging around on front steps quiet time from ten pm noisy in hotel constant banging of doors and loud staff conversations till 2am
- Casey (10/5): Perfect location, easy to find, parking available, and exactly what we were looking for on our visit to London. - The property is perfectly adjacent to Hyde Park, nested between two major tube stops, and surrounded by numerous amenities and fantastic restaurants. It was easy to find, and the staff was very responsive. There was construction being conducted on the backside of the property starting rather early in the morning, but it just forced us to get out and start our day. Parking on the street is available however I still got a ticket even though I paid through the RingGo app.
- Dean (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (1/5): Awful was misled by photos of this hotel advertised on Booking, com, - Nothing checked in went to room very disappointed so left immediatly and went to book another one elsewhere the hotel in General
- Spalding (5/5): Passable -
- Ping (6/5): Pleasant -
- Walid (10/5): The stay was great. Room is clean and cleaning service cleaned room every day. Staff was nice and - Excellent location. Very quiet area. Clean. Close to grocery store and main train station. Next to Hyde park. No elevator, but already mentioned in the description.
- Ecem (6/5): Pleasant - Great location for a first time tourist. Super small room. Squeezed beds. Extremely dirty toilets. Beddings werent clean either. Window does not close in the room. Broken ironing board.
- Dawn (10/5): Clean. Friendly staff. Very Near Hyde park, and a very good price considering where it is. - I loved the hotel, it's old, so you have to expect a few little scratches here and there. But to me, it adds to the charm of the place. The entrance, hallway and stairs are beautiful. The room I stayed in with my son had everything we needed. It was clean and plenty of room. And the view was so pretty, lots more stunning london buildings. It felt very homely.
I think I'd like to move in !
It's Very close to Hyde park too. And close to the shops.
I wish I could have stayed longer. The staff were so nice too, very helpful. I'm definitely going back ! The building was quite warm. But in the rooms there were big fans, but i did stay on a very hot day. And it is the uk.
And there's no lift , so could be an issue for some people.
I can't really say I disliked it at all.
- Zeynep (10/5): Good location, confortable bed and room - Big room Nothing
- Kartushina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Megan (5/5): For the price, you kind of expect a few things to be off, but overall it wasn’t a bad stay. - The location was very good. Right opposite Hyde park, 3 minutes from the tube, food places and a Tesco express also around the corner which was handy. A good sized TV with Netflix and other streaming sites build in. The room was very very hot, the wall fan just blew out hot air. The window would open but right outside our window was a building site which they would start working from 8am and it was very loud even with the window shut. The shower door wouldn’t shut properly so the water would leak all on the floor.
- Veal (6/5): Pleasant - Location Doors locked after certain time for check in
- Md (7/5): Good -
- Khan (2/5): Very bad experience - Only good thing it’s close to centre T.v would not work and staff was not bothered changed batteries on remote did not work when asked if we could change rooms got told they full no rooms but did not see one person the whole time we was there 🤷🏽♂️
- Mahmud (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (1/5): Absolutely terrible hotel. Steer clear! - It was located in a fairly good position, and the space in the room was great. Very spacious. I would say almost everything else. The receptionist wasn’t particularly welcoming, the room was dirty, broken, shower did not work, bugs in the main bed, bugs in the shower cubicle. The sink was blocked, bed and floor extremely creaky. Was extremely disappointing.
- Polly (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (4/5): Very noisy but good location - Location Very noisy
- Alejandra (8/5): Very good -
- Hamad (10/5): Unbeatable location with serious value for money - Check in and checkout process was seamless, staff were attentive to any queries I had during my stay and provided extra towels and tea for free which was a huge bonus.
Overall, especially for a short work trip, I’d highly recommend as the location is unbeatable being at the heart of Hyde park.
- Hussein (10/5): Amazing staff and location - The staff were great and very helpful , the location was amazing and local to many good restaurants. Hyde park was a literally 2 minute walk and the train stations were even closer
- Moin (9/5): Best location to stay in central london - The property has clean spacious rooms with a great location easy to access and friendly staff. A great value to money. I would definitely stay again. Nothing.
- Francisco (5/5): Passable -
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Krystalle (7/5): Value-for-money stay - For the price and what it is, it's very value-for-money. We had the Family Suite on the ground floor and had low expectations due to the reviews, but our low expectations were definitely exceeded lol. The suite comes with a small kitchenette and even some basic pots and pans. Location at Queensway was really great, right next to Hyde Park between two tube stations, with many excellent food options (check out Queensway Market!). We also had housekeeping every day, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The pillows and bed were too soft and the toilet was a little small, but I guess you can't complain much for the price and convenience.
- Richard (2/5): Great location but for the amount charged should renovate the whole place - Its location Most everything else the room was not level and was a pokey loft affair we had to sleep the opposite end of the bed as otherwise blood rushed to our heads. The room was also dirty, at the very top of the hotel with a hard climb ( no lift )
- Jones (7/5): Great locatikn - Location is great to lots of attractions
2 tube stations 5 minute walk with restaurants, cafes nearby.
Price was good value Room was very warm but fan was provided.
We ran out of tea and coffee but more was supplied without a drama
- Richard (10/5): Very pleasant stay in this hotel. The room was clean, the staff friendly and helpful. - Clean rooms, comfy bed, helpful staff and very good hotel location. -
- Musa (7/5): The location is very strategic considering its closeness to bayswater and Queens way subway stations -
- Zain (10/5): Exceptional - Location , friendly staff
- Mary (6/5): Needed last minute booking . - Last minute booking & beds clean Walls dirty, carpet dirty, lots of stairs.
- Coong (5/5): Passable - Not happy giving room is top floor
- Joanne (9/5): Clean, tidy, warm and welcoming - The location was ideal for my mother and I as we had tickets for Kensington palace in the afternoon, theatre tickets for one night and tickets for the Chelsea flower show the next, so wanted a location that was pretty much in-between the two. This hotel suited our needs perfectly. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating to us. The rooms were very clean and tidy, plenty of hot water on demand and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were warm and had everything we needed
Clean towels, kettle tea and coffee, water, fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board. Full length mirror and plenty of room to move around the room. My only thing is the stairs!
But i knew about that when i booked! So it was expected
- George (7/5): Good -
- Alina (10/5): Exceptional - Location, clean , staff friendly Stairs only
- Dilatchio (8/5): Very good -
- Iqbal (8/5): Very good - Beautiful decor, spacious rooms and great staff! It was all good there was nothing i disliked.
- Hosseinpour (2/5): Not recommending at all- Disappointing - I gave the 2 points only for the location. other than that not happy. * No lift in this building, DO NOT book in this hotel if you have big luggages.
* Usually in hotels staff help you in carrying your luggages to your room but here they don't. they only helped us in carrying one bag out of 5.
* old building, old toilet, flush is not powerful enough to flush your disposes in one go. you have to keep flushing for another half and hour after you finished your job. The water flow was so low so the flush tank was taking 15 minutes at least after each flush to fill up. So uncomfortable.
* Toilet has no ventilation so it was damp and disgusting smelling.
* Only one half used toilet paper was provided and tge first day we finished it and realised there is no more toilet paper provided. Asked the reception they gave us paper towel to use but not dispose in toilet imagine with a none ventilation toilet how disgusting would it be. We ended up purchasing our own toilet paper although we were there for only 3 nights.
* we asked for room make up and one of our towels became dirty during our use so we put in on the floor to let the cleaning staff know she/he has to provide new one but instead when we reached hotel we saw all the used towels were folded and left on beds and we couldn't distinguish the one that we put on the floor which one was it. Very unprofessional cleaning staff.
* We had been provided shampoo and bodywash but we saw one if the bodywashes is having slightly different colour than others and we realised it's a half used one from pre house guest and they have added water in the bottle to make it look full!!
* No dining table provided in this room. It was so uncomfortable to eat food or drink on the bed or or heater.
* What we received was different than the photo. The photo was for other room.
- Isadora (7/5): good price, clean place, not much comfort - clean hotel, great location, a bit of a small space, but enough to fit us, good price shower a bit weak, fridge wasn't working a 100%, long stairs (they tell you that when you book, so we were aware, I'm just pointing it out in case someone misses it, cause it was quite a climb up to the 6th floor with our bags). warm room, not sure if it will get too hot in summer. we thought there'd be a washing machine, but there wasn't one.
- Robert (7/5): Good - As a fairly regular short stay traveller to London all the boxes were ticked. Working and warm shower, comfy enough bed and good location especially for the price. Not really a case of didn't like, but if you are a person of certain stature, you'd very much struggle with the bathroom! Although that is the case with most budget hotels so just a case of eyes open/get what you pay for.
- Sherifi (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff. Very local to two train lines
- Jaouad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ahmed (1/5): Bad -
- Adv (10/5): “Exceptional stay! Impeccable service, clean rooms, and perfect location. Highly recommended!” - Location and staff Nothing
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Saddam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lineu (4/5): Disappointing - Well located. The floor was not clean, and water would accumulate in both the sink and the shower, leading to flooding. The bed was noisy, the windows failed to block street noise, and the TV was not functioning
- David (1/5): If Aldi did hotels - Nothing The room was ultra basic, one of the worst I’ve stayed at to be honest. Bathroom poorly designed and maintained. A 50p-sized bar of soap for my stay, 2 very snall shower gels. No toilet paper ( had to send a text at 3am to the night watch guy to ask for toilet paper) as I discovered this only when I needed to go. Out of date, hard stuck together sugar, coffee sachets. I had to manually fix the aerial into the tv to get a signal. There is no soundproofing, as I could hear the guests next door through the walls. But I suppose this is what you get re reflected in the cheap price, but never again.
- Siodhbhra (7/5): Good - Location was excellent.
The staff were very helpful.
We were not in the room often just to sleep. They forgot to change the towels and refurbish the tea suger and milk.
- Adv (10/5): I had a wonderful experience at Hyde Park Hotel. The location is perfect, right near the park, and the staff were incred - Location and staff Nothing
- Lawangeen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saddam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (6/5): It was ok slightly over priced for what it is - Room was lovely and big, gorgeous big windows and extra bits like plates, tea ect. Shower was lovely n hot and had fans in room. Cleanliness was a big issue. Pubes and what looked like blood spots on the bed, beds uncomfortable and when a poo mark was left in bathroom. When we went down to tell staff with a picture they said no they checked it n we must have done after being in room for 5mins.
- Emma (7/5): Good - Great location
Great for sleeping
Helpfull staff Stairs- a lot of stairs to get up room
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (7/5): Great Location, good beds. - Location is great!
The beds were good, we slept well.
TV with Netflix and guest account ready to use was available. Check in was flexible and friendly. Room was clean. Even a small fridge and kitchen is available.
