Guest Reviews
- Celia (8/5): - Very clean, good size bedroom - but you do need towel rails for towels to dry! For a very new build there are some opportunities to improve - such as outdoor seats for the balcony or perhaps a more intimate lighting for the living area - which is way big and bright downlights are a bit tricky when there are no blinds on the living room windows
- Gerard (10/5): - Amzing house with everything you need and excellent views.
- Ian (8/5): - Nice house. Well equipped but half of the TV remotes had flat batteries or were missing batteries. No kindling for the fire but we left some.
- Lois (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend - Lovely home with magnificent views. Nothing
- Chee Meng (10/5): - Beautiful, comfortable property, fully equipped kitchen , easy to cook your own meals, books and games provided, comfortable beds and each bedroom has a TV.
- LC (10/5): -
- Jake (9/5): -
- Loralei (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (7/5): Fairly comfortable - Spacious, comfortable lounge Getting heavy bags upstairs. Shower doors need repair don’t close from inside. Deep freeze iced up door not closed. Toilet not cleaned.
- Tracey (8/5): -
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional - Great views, stunning kitchen! The owners have taken care of every little thing that may be needed to make the stay comfortable. Communication with Emily was great, thank you!
- Shanna (10/5): -
- Helz (7/5): ok - It was just ok
They need a coffee machine
Location and outlook disappointing
- Liza (10/5): -
- Brian (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - Great views, cleanliness of property, taxi service into and out of main centre was friendly and punctual. Was perfect for our stay. Driveway was in need of improvement and flyscreens need installing to keep insects out at night.
- Skye (6/5): - Tepinyaki plate
Comfortable beds and lounge
Large open living/dining
Games
Big TV
Pantry supplies were good Could only lock the main bedroom area door from the outside.
Shower screens need to be lifted to close.
Wifi didn't reach 2 of the bedrooms
Only about 20mls of laundry detergent available
Steep stairs to front door
No full length mirror anywhere
Was hot and stuffy in bedrooms (pedestal fans are provided but when the heat really hits, they won't make a difference)
No proper driveway, very uneven and bumpy to drive on.
Dryer takes forever
- Gillian (7/5): It was a beautiful home however, because of the reasons mentioned above, we would not stay there again. - It was a beautiful, comfortable home with a great, well equipped kitchen and a lovely fireplace which was set up, ready to use.
Fantastic view.
The beds were comfortable. The driveway was extremely difficult to negotiate as it’s mainly uneven dirt.
The entry, external stairs, were very steep & difficult to drag suitcases up.
The internet was a major problem that had been mentioned by previous guests but we managed to fix this ourselves by using our own power cable.
The washing machine combination drier didn’t dry the clothes well.
Blind in the main bedroom was broken and the en-suite body wash, shampoo & conditioner were pretty much empty. We also think the product, that they were using to refill, was not the same product as the bottles. The scent was unpleasant.
The living area flooring was lifting in places and needs repairing.
There was some mould on the ceiling in the main bathroom.
- Megan (6/5): It was adequate but not a stand out. - The showers were nice with good water pressure.
Very easy check-in and check-out process. The wifi didn't work for the duration of our stay.
The beds were hard.
Couldn't find all the remotes for the TVs.
No window coverings in main living room.
No heating in the main living room apart from the fire.
- Donna (9/5): A comfortable modern oasis - I liked the modern openness of the property. There was plenty of room to park the cars and the fire place was lovely for the chilly weather we encountered. We would definitely stay there again. We had trouble finding stations on the TV and the stairs wouldn't suit everybody, but we're fine with us.
- Anna (10/5): Spacious home. Very comfortable. - House on the top of a hill. Very clean and well appointed. Large kitchen. Great stay for a family. Beds a little small.
- Harvey (10/5): fantastic kitchen and fire -
- Cora (8/5): - Great location and fantastic views. Not enough rubbish bags or cleaning products.
- JOHN (7/5): - View, seclusion, close to town Driveway, door to main bedroom wouldn't stay shut, no blinds in lounge / kitchen
- Hannah (10/5): - Everything!!! Beautiful location, amazing value, house was so clean and fresh. 10/10 would recommend to anyone, and plan on coming back with my family next time. The driveway needs doing. Not ideal for smaller cars at all, but did not affect our stay
- Belinda (10/5): Amazing view and comfortable lounge - Amazing fire place, lounge and view Shower screens need fixing
- Rachel (8/5): Warm & comfortable accommodation - Very comfortable accommodation. Lovely view. The wood heater was a must during Tassie's winter, so we enjoyed that. The driveway is in need of maintenance, especially for small cars to access.
- Denise (10/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Lou-ella (9/5): Superb -
- Shirley (10/5): Despite the stairs, we really enjoyed the stay and the house was amazing - Very modern Lot of stairs
- Margherita (5/5): I’m sure there are better options around. - House was quite warm when we arrived late on a dark winters day. Difficult to identify house on a dark night. No numbers visible from the street.
House is half finished, garden poor, no bedroom light fittings, only one bedside table lamp in the ensuite bedroom, superficially clean ( don’t look under the couch!) or at the windows. The front room was huge but not cozy it comfortable to sit together.
The distant views are beautiful. But tbe neighbours views poor.
Disappointing stay. Luckily it was only for one night.
- Christine (8/5): We enjoyed our time away just some minor things done and would have got a better review. - The outlook was stunning. The beds were comfortable and there was lots of crockery. It was very airy and lots of room. They had firewood and no kindling. No dishwasher tablets. Only 1/4 teaspoon of dishwasher powder. Husband went fishing and tried to clean fish downstairs and no taps turned on so went into laundry and top half of tap was missing so water sprouting out of tap. Also very hard to park in yard as there are many holes. No bedside lamps in one room and only one in each of the others.
- Jillian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (9/5): A lovely modern home with a cosy fireplace & VERY comfy beds!! - The property is very new & modern. We found everything to be excellent.
It was fine for us, loved the fireplace & BBQ grill, but may be worth advising potential guest of the stairs in case of impaired mobility issues.
- Frontin-rollet (7/5): We had an enjoyable time as a family. Thank you - Good size and modern Laking some finishes but this was explained in the information book at the house. The street name was not spelt correctly on the website and in the information book; this caused confusion when trying to find the property.
- Julie (9/5): Had a fantastic stay at this very well equipped house. Felt at home immediately. -
- Collins (10/5): Exceptional - Such a beautiful place to stay.
Everything is brand new and comfy and clean.
We left some belongings behind and the staff were quick to organise them to be posted, such a relief!
- Leighann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anzhelika (9/5): Superb - It was a very relaxing vacation, a beautiful villa in order to stay with the family.
- Heidi (10/5): Great View- big and airy - Location, view, beds comfortable, lounge room nice and big, great kitchen. Driveway needs doing.
Didn’t know about stairs.
Found cockroaches in house.
Flyscreens in windows
- Shirley (9/5): Superb - Loved the view and the kitchen which provided all cooking facilities and beautiful cookbooks.
Enjoyed the walk into town and back.
- Victoria (9/5): overall, the stay is wonderful. Good memories of such beautiful house - Clean, spacious, well maintained Provision of full length mirrors & bedroom dustbins preferred
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Milissa (9/5): Large yet cozy with great views - lots of lovely space with amazing views
Beautifully appointed interior with modern facilities
The hibachi grill was an added bonus that I loved cooking on We had our 89yo mother with us. It would have been good to know about the stairs up to the house.
For such a gorgeous kitchen with all the mod cons there was no serving platters for the food (1st world problems)
- Barry (9/5): Very happy with our stay very relaxing - Lovely situation No issues
- Michelle (10/5): Extremely comfortable house with fantastic views - Very comfortable spacious house with excellent views. A home away from home. Beds are extremely comfortable. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need including basic pantry items. Fireplace made it very cosy on a cold miserable night and heated the huge living space. Games were a welcome addition at night. Large balcony to take in the views was lovely but needed some furniture out there. Just wish we had booked for longer than two nights. Outdoor furniture would be nice. Driveway is very rutted and some cars may find it difficult.
- Karyl (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic place, very modern, lots of room and so wonderful to have a wood burning stove.
Bathrooms were very modern and clean. Great to have shampoo, conditioner & body wash provided.
The couch was massive, and it was great to have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It's good to have under house parking. There are lots of really great kitchen utensils, etc, which were appreciated. Upmarket appliances, toaster, and jug were Sunbeam, not cheap brands. Lots of crockery and cutlery.
Lovely views to the Bay.
Speedy response from host when we had a few problems, even personally attended on a Saturday night! Now, that's service. Thanks Emily. A few things- there are 18 steep steps to the front door, which was OK for us, but some may find them a bit of a challenge.
The wifi was a continual problem, dropping out constantly despite resetting many times. The morning we left, it had been out for 4 hours, and even though we reset it twice 1 hour before we left the house, it still wasn't working upon our departure.
The shower screen doors don't close properly (need re-aligning), so water does tend to accumulate on the floor.
It was OK for us because it's winter, but they only have pedestal floor fans, no air conditioning and you can't leave the sliding doors open at night as there is only fly screen sliding doors which have no locks, no security grilles. There are no fly screens on any of the windows, again, being winter, no problems for us but if booking for summer, may be a concern with mosquitoes, etc.
- Julie (9/5): Enjoyed the stay very much, very relaxing. - Wood heating and the view Stairs a bit steep
- Joanna (9/5): Our stay was everything we wanted. Photo of sunrise from lounge room window - Location was fabulous! Sunrises incredible. Kitchen was so well equipped. Fireplace was perfect. Close to town and easy to get in and out of street. There wasn’t anything we disliked about the home.
- Kristie (10/5): Stunning beachy stay - Love the views and the loungeroom area Nothing it was a beautiful accommodation
- Minami (9/5): Relaxing stay in a big, roomy house for a family with children. - We loved the wood heater... Their facility was fantastic also. There were lots of board games and the kids were entertained.
- Lenny (10/5): Exceptional - This place was seriously a dream! just exceeded all expectations. It was clean, comfy and had beautiful views. Especially for someone like myself that enjoys cooking it was a real treat to have a Teppanyaki grill. N/A
- Daniel (9/5): Superb -
- Greg (10/5): So nice to stay here. - Exceptional property with everything provided. It was such a lovely place to stay at. Very comfortable - loved the wood fire :-). Thanks
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Stephen (10/5): Great place to relax and unwind with friends - Modern. Comfortable. Best lounge ever. Log fire. Quiet. Nice views.
- Triffett (10/5): Exceptional - Very relaxing, had everything we need
- Norris (9/5): Superb - The view, out lay of the house The steep stairs and lack of driveway
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing views, great location can just walk in to town.
- Louis (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Superb - Everything No bins in bathrooms
- Della (9/5): Very nice home with lovely views of St Helen’s. - Nice modern facilities with lovely water views. Spacious rooms with full kitchen, laundry facilities and fire place. Very clean. The property was situated at the end of a very steep street hense the lovely views, however not ideal for everyone. A steep external timber stair case leading up to the house made lugging suitcases inside difficult.
- Michele (7/5): Great place, just needs some more attention to the finishing off. -
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (7/5): Good - Very modern and well furnished. There are 15 or 16 steps up to the accommodation so transferring our luggage from the car was a chore. The property is located in a residential neighborhood a bit distant from shops and entertainment.
- Jennifer (7/5): Delightful new home, well appointed, clean and comfy with views to the bay beyond. - It practically brand new, lovely open layout and perfect for a family, great having two bathrooms as well. Lovely balcony to see the bay and mountains below, somewhat spoilt by the neighbouring house that occludes a good bit of the view. Sadly there is no garden so a lovely on a wasteland, there was rubbish (pizza boxes, cans, paper) along the back fence line in the weeds not sure if it was the last occupants or the neighbours action. The plants on the balcony and inside the house were stressed from lack of water one was dead, we livened them up with a good watering. For us a garden in which to wander and enjoy would have made this a near perfect stay. Oh the driveway is unsealed and potholed so enter gently. There is no food to speak of so make sure you pack anything you need for meals. Even salt and pepper, oil for cooking etc.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Christina (9/5): We had a fabulous time at Bayview Lodge! - Stunning location! Exceptionally clean and extremely well stocked with everything you could wish for. I think that the property needs some blinds/window coverings in the main living area.
- Andrew (8/5): Short, relaxing - Very spacious & beautiful views & quiet area Wasn’t sure why it didn’t have an air conditioner as it was quite warm! Also no fly screens on windows so couldn’t open windows of a night in case of bugs!
- Helena (9/5): Superb - Very well set up holiday home. Very comfortable and great location with fab views
- Lilian (9/5): Superb -
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - excellent location, beautiful house with every facility you could need nothing!
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachelle (7/5): Good - It was a great location, the house was new, it had 3 bedrooms, we enjoyed the Teppanyaki grill! The views were great and the kids enjoyed the TV’s in every room! There were no single beds in any of the rooms (which we were aware of through booking), the vinyl wood floor planks kept popping up and were uncomfortable to walk on and ventilation wasn’t the best. The house was very warm wherever the sun was and in the main room (which was where the sun ended up in the afternoons) there were no ceiling fans, the windows only opened on one side and the side you could open had restricted opening mechanisms and the door to the deck in the main bedroom was on hinges and wasn’t able to be secured open. In summer on a hot day - this could be a problem for some. The internal sliding doors would also not stay fully shut if you wanted to keep the kids noise out of the main bedroom. There was also no way to keep the swing door open at the back of the house which would have been useful for airflow.
- Sunet (9/5): Superb -
- Cloud (9/5): Superb -
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - Great house and lovely views. Very comfortable.
- Stefanie (6/5): Misleading description, no wifi available - The house is very stylish and modern and offers great views. The wifi did not work. We called the property manager to figure out the issue, she told us she would ask the owner. Never recieved a follow up and internet didn’t work for the whole duration of our stay. Please do not put ‚free wifi‘ or ‚wifi available‘ in your description if you don‘t offer it. This is misleading and people who relay on internet/wifi will prefer to book elswhere.
- Hillier (8/5): Very good - It was very clean, well-equipped and comfortable There is effectively no working internet connection, which was very dissapounting.
- Kirsten (10/5): Amazing property, wish we could have stayed longer. - Loved the location, property was immaculate and comfortable. We wish we could have stayed longer. Views are beautiful! Facilities are perfect and the house has such a cosy feel. Ample space for families, we loved everything! The only suggestion I could make is some cooling. We arrived on a very warm day and it was hard to cool the house down.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Great views and well set out great facilities would recommend .
- Jane (9/5): Superb - Beautiful house and stunning views. Beds were very comfortable. The WiFi had no internet connection. We did use the cooking facilities which were great, but was surprised to find that some basic things like a dishwasher tablet and salt and pepper were not available.
- Sina (8/5): A great modern comfortable space with amazing views - Access to a kitchen was great 😊 Main toilet was not flushed 😳
Excessive pink mould in the ensuite shower.
No working Wi-Fi
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (9/5): Superb - Beautiful house, though the openess and extensive windows meant there was a sense of a lack of privacy in the common areas.
Loved the choice of spare blankets in the rooms, so big and soft.
It was great to see live plants in the house, we have them all a water as they all looked like they needed a bit when we arrived Some instructions on how to use the cook top and other appliances would be good. I simple folder with this info could be kept at the property for guests in case they can’t figure it out independently like we did.
The lock box with the keys in it was very difficult to open.
- Howard (10/5): Comfortable and fun. - Everything was excellent. Especially enjoyed the teppenyaki bbq hot plate in the kitchen.
- Karmen (10/5): Exceptional - This property was amazing! Not only was it in a great location, it had beautiful views of the ocean, and was quiet, clean, and roomy. No detail was spared in this house and was a lovely place for us to stay while in St Helens. We didn't want to leave! The host was super helpful and very pleasant to communicate with. If we are ever in St Helens again we will definitely look at staying here again. Nothing
- Maureen (9/5): Refreshing - TV Wifi network id and credentials didn't work
- Mark (10/5): Excellent spot -
- Nikita (10/5): Perfection. - Property is brand new, well-appointed and very well positioned. Everything has been well thought out, such as the frosted window that can be opened to allow you to look over bay while you’re taking a bath, speaking of the bath, it’s almost big enough to be classed as a small swimming pool, very luxurious! the views are amazing and the wood fireplace is divine. The only thing we didn’t like was something quite minor - that there are no lamps in the bedrooms.
- Chien-pu (9/5): Superb -
- Shane (10/5): It was comfortable we stayed in. Stunning - STUNNING
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerwyn (9/5): Loved our stay at Bay of Fires Lodge, stunning property and amazing views. - Loved the open style of the home. As a group of for ladies happy to lounge around and relax our only comment is that a more sizeable coffee table in front of the lounge would have been beneficial. In summer an outdoor dining table on the deck with the amazing views would be great.
- Janet (10/5): Wonderful place for couples or a family. We would definitely stay here again. - The views are amazing! I don’t think you could get views anywhere in St Helens. The house is so well appointed, the rooms are large and comfortable, the kitchen has everything we needed and the wood fire was absolutely magic! I think the only improvement would be some window coverings in the living and kitchen areas as we felt very exposed at night.
- Serlina (10/5): Exceptional - Outstanding stay with a family if 5 beautiful home and would definitely book again location amazing ... house clean modern and welcoming very enjoyable stay only wish it was longer
- Nicole (9/5): Beautiful home with amazing views - The best location. Practically brand new house.
well equipped with the basics. Has a washer/dryer which was excellent. The door would not lock, a very rocky driveway with no secure parking. The house is not quite finished with some items needing remedying such as electrical chords hanging out of the wall.
- Yiyun (10/5): Exceptional - The house is big and well equipped. The host gave us very detailed information before check-in, which made our check-in very smooth! We saw a white kangaroos understairs, which was great!
