KYC (1/5): Worst experience ever – avoid this place! - Be warned: the host will charge you an additional security deposit right before your arrival. This is unusual for Airbnb, and you have no choice but to pay it since your booking is already confirmed. My advice: Do NOT stay here. There are plenty of cleaner, better-maintained apartments in Melbourne with more professional and honest hosts. If you do take the risk, document everything with photos the moment you arrive — every stain, every corner — or be prepared to lose your deposit. I travel year-round and this was my worst stay ever. The apartment looked clean in photos but was right next to a trash room — the smell was awful. When we arrived, the carpet was dirty and stained, triggering my daughter’s allergy. We moved it to the balcony and never used it. The apartment was not clean: mold in the washing machine, greasy kitchenware, and a bad odor throughout. We had to clean ourselves just to settle in. After check-out, the host falsely accused us of damaging the carpet and refused to refund our deposit, blaming us for not reporting the mess earlier. Completely unacceptable. You’re better off staying elsewhere in Melbourne — this host is not honest, and the place is poorly maintained.
