Guest Reviews
- Lance (10/5): Had a great stay and will be back again. - Easy access and off the street parking.
- Christine (1/5): Don’t waste your time or money here - The view was the only positive thing about this stay I was appalled at the state of the place, the photos don’t reflect the state of the property at all (upon further investigation has been noted in many reviews) why put an image of another house on the profile? We thought that’s where we were staying….filthy couch, we booked for a balcony only to be told after payment it was out of action, according to previous reviews it’s not been a recent thing it’s been MISSING forever it seems. False advertising, don’t advertise what’s not there. Bathtub itself has been painted and was dirty. Tiles grotty, cupboard remains broken. Gauze has holes so can’t keep door open as owner suggested. Booking.com should investigate this. Don’t waste your money or time here.
- Greg (1/5): Cancelled our accommodation 3 hours before we were due to check-in so we were left scrambling to find an alternative pla - Didn’t get to stay as they cancelled on us 3 hours prior to us being due to arrive.
- Celia1120 (10/5): - Location and view Beds were too soft for me
- IEVA (10/5): We enjoyed our stay -
- Bernadette (8/5): - The view and location were fantastic Oven was broken,
- Saeid (5/5): Nice view and location - The ocean view Not enough consumables like paper towels and the bathroom is old
- Thomas (7/5): - Der Blick auf den Ozean ist unbezahlbar. Das Badezimmer benötigt dringend eine Renovierung. Ist nicht mehr up to Date
- John (8/5): We had a lovely 3days and would come again. - position and view needs repairs to bathroom stairs. needs repairs to bathroom cupboard doors
- Stephen (8/5): - Unforgettable view, stunning Communication questionable, disappointed there was no outside seating area, but understand there was a problem with the verandah.
- Brian (9/5): A very enjoyable stay - Location excellent
- Karen (9/5): - Fabulous location - a home from home Shame re balcony
- Stephanie (7/5): Perfect location for an overnight stay - The location was great for one night stay and view was stunning. Plenty of space within the apartment for the 4 of us. There were no aircon units in the bedrooms which would have helped as I was unable to open the windows, they were taped down.
- Sandip (9/5): - Nice cozy apartment with a great ocean view. Very clean, close to the local stores. Ticks all the boxes for a nice and comfortable stay. The apartment is a bit old needing some maintenance though not something that would bother you on a short stay. The balcony is out of service. Would have been great to have the balcony but the host communicated in advance about this.
- Edward (10/5): Quiet town but lovely apartment - We where skepticism about the view looking edited on the photos. But the views out the large window were incredible! Beds are comfy, nice open lounge area. Would highly recommend.
- Margaret (8/5): Good -
- Andrea (8/5): Sensational view, very comfortable well appointed property - Amazing view, convenient location and well appointed comfy accommodation Parking was a little tight but visitors park v good. Verandah not there- understand it was a building issue
- Deborah (7/5): Good place to stay and watch for whales, amazing view - The view of the ocean was amazing. Apartment was cute. We happened to be there on a cold day and the apartment didn’t heat up very well. The bathtub was flaking off paint and wasn’t cleaned from the last occupants.
- Michael L (8/5): -
- Kwai Aun (10/5): - Awesome Seaview. It has everything we need and walking distance to the beautiful town.
- Tracey (10/5): Absolutely beautiful.. clean, family friendly and can’t wait to go back. - Location and view The neighbours
- Anne (8/5): - The view was fabulous There were no fans or Aircon so it would be very hot when the weather is warm
- Stacey (9/5): Everything you need in a great location with an amazing view - The location was great and the view was spectacular
- Ekaterina (8/5): - Beautiful apartments with a wonderful view. Spacious, bright, and comfortable, with heated mattresses that made the stay cozy. However, the Wi-Fi was not working, and since mobile internet in this town is quite weak, we had no connection inside the apartment. Also, part of the bed linen was not clean.
Overall, these are very nice apartments with plenty of space and great potential for a comfortable stay.
- Belinda (9/5): -
- Emma (10/5): Amazing 😍 - The view was amazing. The unit was beautiful inside and we'll set out. Comfortable beds. Did I mention the view 😍 Nothing. It was amazing xx
- Reboy (9/5): - The vew Mobile reception a bit poor on Optus
- Shaun (9/5): -
- Angele J (6/5): Eden is a great getaway location. - Location was fantastic. Great view. Walking distance to shops. Comfy couch and plenty of space in the kitchen. Good hot shower and water pressure. The plug in heater only just took the chill off the room even at maximum setting and it was pretty cold at 13 to 15 degrees during the day so we had to leave this on a lot more than a more effective heating system would require.
Had to chase up the owner for instructions on how to get the induction stovetop working. It would be great to provide an instruction sheet for this. The kitchen supplies were absolute minimum, and it would be helpful to provide a few more basics than just tea, coffee and sugar.
- David Morgan (1/5): - Beautiful view from the lounge marred by the fact that the balcony area was out of commission. The shower area was filthy. The enamel on the bath was peeling off and the shower head was dirty. The adjacent window and sill were also filthy. From a health & safety perspective, this apartment should not be rented again until a new bathtub has been fitted and the whole bathroom given a deep clean.
Tape had been used to hold down the bug shield on the window in the front bedroom. However, the tape had come adrift and it leaked very cold air throughout the night. The window and surround were dirty.
The Internet did not work at any time during our stay.
- Culpan (8/5): Overall our stay was very good, we do hope that strata gets the balcony replaced for the summer. It was unfortunate we d - Location to the centre
The view Unfortunately no balcony
No internet
- Minas (9/5): Amazing. Will book again. - Clean, great view very comfortable and X conveniently located A few more kitchen utensils would be handy, but feedback passed on and gladly received
- favret (9/5): What a beautiful place to stay on holidays! - As soon as we opened the front door, the view was breathtaking! This place is just amazing: beautiful view with amazing sunrise, bright , clean and well decorated! The beds are so comfy! The place is cold but there was a heater for each room which was keeping us warm ( a plus for the main bed with heating blanket!), my boys were able to walk to 2 different wharfs for fishing. The place was walking distance to the shops and the pub ( with pool table) and right next to the Killer Whale museum! The kitchen has everything we needed for cooking, coffee machine and coffee. We were able to wash our clothes as there is a washing machine… we had a fantastic time! We had an issue with the internet but it was fixed with the help of the lovely and very responsive owners!
- Alison (9/5): Beautiful views and a great location! Cosy little place! We had a great time! - Beautiful views!
Great location!
Washing machine was great (thanks for the power too!)!
Loved the coffee maker and dishwasher! Very minor things! But a couple of extra kitchen things would be great - grater and a can opener and a couple more drinking glasses!
Hot water in the shower doesn’t last when you have a 2 adults and 2 kids to get through the shower.
- Elizabeh (7/5): Good -
- Cathy (8/5): Clean tidy apartment with a great view of the ocean at a reasonable price. - Great view of the ocean.
- Linda (5/5): Passable -
- Jasmine (7/5): Enjoyed our stay, would definitely stay stay again. - The view was incredible, very tidy and decorated beautifully. The main bedroom has electric blankets on the bed which was amazing because we stayed in winter. It was quite chilly in the mornings/nights and the heaters didn’t put out any heat. Also my partner had a shower and ran out of hot water after 5 minutes but other than that it was a great stay.
- Loris (7/5): Good - Location and view great. Listed as having air-con but didn’t have it. Only had convection heaters which had been listed, but weren’t very efficient on cold nights. Bathroom in need of an update to match the lovely renovated kitchen/living area.
- Hedin (7/5): good location and great view over the bay - the view was magnificent and the hot water was plentiful for showering Attention to detail could be improved, toilet seat was not fitted to the toilet, some light globes needed replacing. Whilst there was no central heating there were enough column/panel heaters to warm the premises as it was cold at night. the main bedroom window was not sealed properly which, when windy outside, caused the window to rattle and was a bit breezy. it was only windy one night so was not a major ordeal.
- Izak (1/5): Bad - The view and the sofa. The windows didn't close properly. The shower looked dirty. All the linen had stains on it and didn't smell nice. There was brown hair on everything. The deck was removed (not as advertised). The bottom step at the staircase was broken and we almost got hurt when we slipped on it.
- Russell (10/5): A comfortable stay very close to Edens famous Whale museum and the only market at Imlay street. - The property (Unit 4) was very comfortable and as per the description. I had read a lot of the previous reviews and was a bit concerned on some things, especially around cleanliness, mosquitoes and the mesh door.
When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised on a lot of things...
1. Parking was available and every unit had 1 dedicated car park, extra visitor parking and ample roadside parking. Be aware though that roadside parking is usually first come first serve, as the museum does attract a fair bit of tourists.
2. The Eden whale museum is adjacent to the townhouse units.
3. Entry to the unit was via a lock box and instructions were well informed before arrival. Arrival time was 3.00pm and we reached after 4.00pm as there was heavy traffic from Sydney. One set of key was provided, and it would have been great if we had another set. Not a deal breaker though.
4. The unit itself was very clean. The bathrooms were clean, the towels were clean and there was sufficient bathroom toiletries like tissue paper, shampoo and body wash. There was a shower curtain, and although this was made up of cloth, it would have been great to have a plastic shower curtain, as it is easier to dry and wont remain damp. I do understand that plastic curtains also come with its own set of problems, so I would not make a fuss about it.
5. Bath Towels and hand towels were provided in sufficient quantity for our 4 night stay. Even though the towels had a bit of a coarse texture, it did its job and surprisingly dried up pretty quick.
6. 2 Binoculars were provided and general room aesthetics, wall hangings and table top show pieces blended in very well with the white colour of the apartment. Facilities included washing machine, portable air con, press and stand, heaters, clothes stand, extra blankets amongst others.
7. Kitchen had a medium size 220l fridge, microwave, induction cooker, all necessary induction style utensils, lots of crockery and cutlery, coffee maker with basic supplies. 1. We would have loved to have some itinerary plans. Eden is a very quiet town (expected as it is the last recognized town of NSW on the sapphire coast). We did visit a lot of places as well, including Boyd Tower, Eden Rotary lookout, The Whale museum, Cocora Beach, Davidson Whaling station, DIsaster Bay lookout. Our trip to Green Cape Light house was suspended mid way as it is a 20km gravel road, requiring a 4WD on most good days.
2. A diary on memoir log book would have been great to keep notes and recommendations for future guests. We did miss
writing paper.
3. It would have been great to have some extra dish washer tablets (eg. two tablets a day) for future guests. We did carry extra tablets and also some laundry detergent, just in case, so we got through.
4. It would have helped having some instructions on the induction top functions. We were able to figure it out, courtesy my partner, who happens to be a renowned chef, but to hear her murmur to herself on this unnatural challenge, was rewarding enough :-)
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - The view is incredible, especially at sunrise. Location is great, beds are comfortable and the check-in and communication is really clear. We'd definitely stay again.
- Hayley (5/5): Basic accommodation in a stunning location. - We had to do a lot of maintenance ourselves, like fix windows, clean the filters in the two vacuum cleaners, clean the filter and drum of the washing machine, thoroughly wash all kitchen utensils and plates before use, fix the toilet seat. We had to supply our own toilet paper, tissues, laundry detergent, dishwashing tablets, as there were none or not enough.
Having said that, the location was absolutely fantastic, the beds comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.
- Lisa (6/5): Ok would reccomend it to people as next door to the whale museum - The patio had been demolished but we didnt find out until after payment. There was no instant coffee and v few tea bags we were older and uncertain about using a coffee machine.
- Diana (8/5): Very good -
- Marlene (10/5): Spectacular View. - Fabulous location. Cant help the weather
- Debra (8/5): Very relaxing. - Great location, fabulous view. Very clean, well styled and comfortable. Walking distance to shops.
- Steve (8/5): Great location, lovely view. - Great view, and great couch to enjoy it from. Keep your bedroom blind down as next unit stairs have people walking past looking into bedroom.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Had a great time with family. Lots to see and do. Eden is a laid back town but nice and relaxing.country side beautiful.
- Thelma (10/5): Exceptionally pleased. - Over the last 10 years we have stayed in around 200 bookings.com accommodation The Blue Whale would have to rate in the top five of these..
- Roja (7/5): Good -
- Chia (7/5): Good location and clean - Pretty clean and easy to find Bit old and run down which is out of my expectations
- Leigh (2/5): Very poor -
- Paula (7/5): Good - The view was fantastic. Easy walk to town centre. The beach was 2 kilometres away, where in the photo it says across the road. Well, the security door on arrival did not work. That door kept flinging open. Fly wire on door had holes in it. The bedside lamp did not work on one side. The shower curtain needed a clean, so we dried it out each day over the bath. The hot plates on the stove were hard to use as there was no information about the combustion cook top.
- Alicia (9/5): We had a lovely stay in Eden, it was very relaxing. - The view was amazing! The large glass window made the apartment such a lovely place to be, looking out over the water.
- Tony (7/5): Good - The view, the location. Frying pans need changing, food sticks to pans when cooking. Nowhere other than bathroom to hang swimming costumes or clothes when wet.
One frying pan still had food on it from previous guest.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joshua (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shooksy (5/5): Pleasant holiday home - The view is spectacular, and being just a short stroll from all the shops of the main street is really convenient. The unit is fresh and bright, and the renovated kitchen is fairly well appointed. The major appliances all work.
The sea breeze does a decent job of keeping the apartment cool. But really, it's those full length windows looking out to the ocean that are the star of this show. Despite what follows, our stay was pleasant and we enjoyed our time here. The following is offered as an attempt to provide future guests with a detailed understanding of any issues which might affect their comfort and enjoyment during their stay.
The mattress in the master bedroom is super firm. I understand some people prefer a firm mattress but it made me sore and made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. That wasn't improved by the broken blind (rod not attached to control pitch) meaning daylight of a morning whether you like it or not.
Dusty tops of cabinets and bugs on bathroom windowsill appear to have been accumulating for a while. The holes in the mesh and gap under the front screen door lets bugs in, but there weren't many during our time there.
The toilet seat is poorly fitted, meaning your bits are at risk of being smashed between the seat and the bowl every time you sit because when it moves it snaps down hard.
As is often the case in holiday rentals, the knives are dull, the batteries in the TV remote are very weak and the water pressure is average. The inclusions are cheap, which is fine, except that the toaster only really cooks on one side of the bread, the vacuum cleaners barely suck and the promise of air conditioning is covered by a portable unit stored in the bedroom closet (with a window exhaust kit but no window in the living area to put it in) - the sea breeze did a good job of keeping the place comfortable throughout our stay though, so it's really unlikely to be a factor.
There was coffee and tea, but no sugar, no bin liners and no spare toilet paper. If you're staying for more than a day or two you should probably be providing for yourself anyway, but don't get caught short on the loo!
It may not affect most guests, but the unit sleeps five and there's only seating for four (four dining chairs, four lounge seats).
- Britney (7/5): Excellent Base for our exploring - Location was AMAZING! Lack of dryer and air conditioner was a downer.
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional - The kitchen and the view The mattress wasn't overly comfortable
- Peter (7/5): Great view for whale watching. Bring your binoculars. - Great view of the bay where we watched many whales playing. The apartment had all the things you need and quite spacious with a bottle of wine on arrival. Even small binoculars. Will be even better when the balcony is put back. It’s showing its age although it seems fresh. It might be hot in summer without aircon. Towels were hard.
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional - The Blue Whale was in a fabulous location - a 1 minute walk to the main street, shopping and restaurants. We loved the view from the main loungeroom window - we could see the Whales jumping - AMAZING.
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional - The view is amazing when you walk in! Very comfortable stay and good value for money. Great spot for a weekend getaway with friends. They have added some new decor since the photos, a nice touch. Excellent location, quick walk to town and the beach. Even had a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived! Would love to come back when it’s warmer so I can go for a swim in the ocean.
- Aaron (8/5): Very good - The view and the price were awesome 👌
- Palmfish (6/5): Adequate for the purpose and fullfilled our needs for a reasonable cost. It would have been so much better with attentio - Very good location Bath/shower was quite rundown and mattresses were poor and quite uncomfortable.
- Paula (6/5): Pleasant - The veiw was amazing, the bed was comfortable, kitchen was revamped and had everything we needed. The blind in the main bedroom was broken, the toilet seat is broken ( have the bruise to prove it), the unit did not have a deep clean, in the bathroom there were hairs that were not ours, no cutlery basket in the dishwasher, no balcony, windows need a clean.
- Tracey (7/5): Tidy and quiet apartment with lovely ocean views - Tidy apartment with great views of the ocean. Quiet apartment block. Easy parking. Walking distance to both the wharf and town. Balcony has been entirely removed (as per Q&A on listing) so views are only possible through the window. Bath/shower recess due an upgrade soon.
- Alysha (1/5): UNIT IS FILTHY - DO NOT BOOK - The only quality that would be positive is the location and view from the window. The balcony would also be great when it reopens. The whole unit was dirty, hair )what looked like both human and pet hair) around the place, poor quality furniture and dirty bathroom with bugs, dirt, dust and cobwebs everywhere. Lack of basic toiletries (like handsoap).
- James (8/5): Great value for money. - Well presented little apartment in great location and amazing views. Balcony needs replacing but we were appropriately warned of this at time of booking. Shower could do with an upgrade.
- Ann (5/5): Beautiful view - Beautiful view Need to look at what is offere
- John (8/5): Location and view were everything and more - The location and view Just needed a little more attention to cleaning and the bathroom was extremely cold (I stayed during Winter)
- Roberta (10/5): Would stay here again. - Fantastic view. Great location walking distance to town.
- Kerry (7/5): Good - The location was perfect. A beautiful view of the bay. As it was very cold overnight an extra blanket would have been helpful. Heating was average.
- Jeff (7/5): Good -
- Joni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (7/5): Good - Beautiful view from the loungeroom and kitchen. Great location, easy walk to shops and restaurants. It was very cold when we were there and there were no extra blankets, and the heaters were not very effective.
- Caitlin (10/5): Beautiful view and great place to stay - Easy to get to. Rooms were very clean. Beautiful view Nothing we didn't like really.
- Michelle (6/5): We loved this apartment but even though heaters where supplied it was very cold - The property had a great location beautiful views but unfortunately the veranda was out of use
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hilary (9/5): Lovely apartment, stunning views - Very comfortable well appointed apartment. Perfect for a long or short stay. Stunning views
- Vicki (9/5): Mesmerising view, contemporary and super relaxing - From the moment we walked in the door, our reaction was WOW!!! The floor to ceiling plate glass window enhances the gorgeous sea view to maximum effect. Even tho we arrived in heavy rain, we could see the wonderful vista, and it just kept getting better with the changing weather and skies. It was mesmerising.
The unit itself is very contemporary and modern and it has a very relaxing beachy feel. I loved how the artworks and decor fitted the location perfectly.
Everything inside was spot on, comfortable, relaxing and set up for a perfect holiday. We had to drive around the block a few times to find the unit in the pouring rain. Because it is called the BlueWhale Seaview, we were looking for a sign to that effect. I understand that it is not a complex, and the block has private residents. I think a description of the building (red brick, square in appearance, next door to Whale Museum) would have been helpful. We eventually found the street number but it was very faded and couldn't be seen from the road.
We were also disappointed that the balcony was unusable for safety reasons, and weren't informed until the day before. As it looked like it may take some time to be replaced/repaired, it would have been helpful if that was included in the description on the booking site. We lamented constantly how gorgeous it would have been to have been able to have breaky, coffee etc in the open air enjoying the view.
- Wendy (7/5): Good - Bathroom needs attention, we were very disappointed we couldn't access the porch, it would have been great to sit on the deck, have a coffee, drink but a notice on the said it was unusable, we were not told that when we booked
- Kelly (9/5): The Blue Whale was a wonderful place to stay with its sweeping oceanic views and proximity to cafes - The apartment had a wonderful view. It was the perfect size for the two of us and the location couldn’t have been better. Easy walk to cafes and town and a hilly walk to the wharf. We had a great stay and would recommend The Blue Whale - Sea View apartment for a relaxing break.
- Keith (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Nice views No access to balcony.
- Geoffrey (7/5): Good -
- Susanne (8/5): We would be happy to stay at this apartment again - The location of the property is AMAZING
We could watch the sun rise over the ocean from the loungeroom window every morning.
It was also right next door to the Whale Museum and within walking distance to the Main Street and all the shops and a few hotels / restaurants.
There was also off street parking which meant we didn’t need to drive the car unless we wanted to go sight seeing. The main bed was too hard for me but I’ve notified the owner about this, a mattress topper would suffice.
All bed linen was good
- Giovanna (5/5): Passable - The view from the lounge was great...the location was good. When we arrived we were looking for the name sake to identify the place...nowhere to be seen. It sits in a red/brown block of flats, really should be an Air bnb! The place wasn't very clean. On arrival, I was wiping crumbs of the kitchen bench, cleaning previous occupants' food scraps in the fridge, etc. There was no access to the outdoor balcony due to strata issues - unsafe! When I mentioned the lack of cleanliness to the owner, she told me to complain to Booking.com, no offer of an apology...disappointing. There are better places to stay in Eden, I suspect.
- Oonagh (7/5): Very nice area to visit - Location & View Security door was unable to be locked (no key available)
Front door lock needs upgraded to a more secure lock
- Tracey (7/5): Good - The view was spectacular and walking distance to town
The inside of the apartment was new and very clean and would have been fantastic if the patio was useable The property looked very shabby and-not looked after on the outside
The apartment had no aircon , just stand alone fans and a portable aircon that did nothing for the hot days we where there for, had very uncomfortable sleep from feeling hot
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Vanessa (10/5): Wow. What a view. - Wow what a view. I can see the view when I cook my toast ,are at the dinning table and when relaxing on the couch. While the complex is older this unit has mostly been updated. The kitchen has everything you need except we didn’t use it. The Main Street is only a short stroll away with quite a few eating options.
The bedrooms are spacious
The whole unit is beautifully styled and very clean.
I did take over the whole couch relaxing so if the unit had the extra guests I am not sure what they would do.
There is 2 car parks which were fairly close to the one set of stairs to the units entrance.
We had lovely weather so didn’t need to use the stand up fans or portable air conditioning. There was portable heaters too so all conditions are covered.
I really enjoyed my time here and felt at home. Beds were firm which I think some guests may not like but didn’t bother me.
