Guest Reviews
- Kina (6/5): - The location was great. The accommodation was good with one large bedroom, a small kitchen, a small loungeroom and a bathroom. The second bed did not have clean sheets, so one of us had to sleep on a dirty bed. There was no kettle so we had to boil water in a pan to make a cup of tea. The shower was tiny although it was usable.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - I think the owner has made significant improvements to many of the hotel rooms. After reading some negative reviews, I was expecting an old, moldy apartment, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were no mosquitoes or mold, and the place was very clean - thanks to the owner using mosquito devices. The kitchen was well equipped with all the necessary utensils and pots. Plus, it’s conveniently located very close to Ospedale. I wish the rooms had brighter lighting, as I found the lights a bit dim and the rooms felt quite dark. Also, the owner or staff sent a money transfer link before check-in, which at first made me a little suspicious, but after paying, I did receive all the proper instructions. One thing I missed was access to a washing machine- having one would have been very helpful, especially while traveling with a toddler.
- Demetri (4/5): Disappointing - Floors were dusty, some kind of sediment at base of the bed sheets
- Xoxosibila (7/5): Good - I stayed with friends for 2 nights. Overall the apartment was clean but some of the dishes were dirty and the sheets that were folded in the closet were stained. There is a weird toilet seat in the bathroom which is smaller than the toilet itself but it served it's purpose I guess. The biggest problem was that in the bedroom there is a glass door that leads to the attic and even though it's blocked by stuff it still was quite creepy to sleep there. Even though we knew there was no wifi I do have to say that we assumed venice would have some sort of public wifi available for tourist however this turned out to not be the case and while we managed without it I do have to say that having wifi would've made the stay way more comfortable and it's definitely a necessity for tourists coming there.
Overall I am happy with the stay, the place wasn't moldy or dusty, the floors were cleaned, the bathroom was clean and the view on the canal was quite pretty. The location is close to all of the main attractions in the city and the apartment is exacly where the owner said it would be. The place could use some love maybe a couple of new furnishings as everything is quite old but I suppose it still works out as intended
- Noah (10/5): Excellent stay in a quiet and easy accessible area. - Very homely and convenient location with good facilities in walking distance from all major tourist attractions. Host was very clear with check in information and the apartment was very clean and well equipped. No WiFi - but good mobile data coverage in the area.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good - Property was clean and pretty spacious for two people. The view of the canal and the location were amazing. You’re away from the tourist crowds, but not too far from main attractions either. The host says you have to take all the trash from your stay and throw it out in a bin about a 3-5 minute walk away before leaving.
- Justine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Burkardt (5/5): Sleeping was uncomfortable to say the least. Otherwise a good home base and a good value for what it offers. Mosquito ne - Location was good. Quiet and walkable. Mosquitos! I had one window in the living room cracked (apartment was still hot despite it, and I woke up in the middle of the night with mosquitos buzzing around my ears, unable to sleep at all. 14 mosquito bites on only my arms.
- Melissa (10/5): Old World Charm with Clean Thrown In! - We loved the feeling of living somewhere that Venetians have lived for a long time before we arrived.
The beautiful built-in cupboards in all of the rooms were very aesthetic. The fact that we could open windows on the canal and watch boat traffic go by all day was very pleasant, but in this hot weather, it was even more pleasant to open up windows on both sides of the flat and get a breeze going through in between! The bathroom was decent sized and everything was very clean when we arrived.
It would’ve been nice to have had a second fan as there is no air conditioning and we had to keep moving the fan around. Two fans would have helped keep the few mosquitoes from being able to land on us at night. There were not many, but because it was so hot we had to keep the windows open all night (and felt perfectly safe in doing so!), and so a couple sneaked in.
More than anything, however, we truly appreciated the tranquil setting and loved sitting in the windows on the canal, reading our books, and enjoying the different traffic going by. We also loved being close enough to the co-op grocery store that we could walk there quickly and then reliably find our way home!
Finally, we loved that San Marco Piazza was not too far away, and there were plenty of interesting restaurants and shops in between that were not too expensive. Bonus-A vaporetto stop within easy walking distance!
I highly recommend staying in this area of the city! It was charming and the bedroom was very spacious.
