Responsive to emails and phone calls instantly despite being a last minute booking. Little unclear where to book in out of hours, but it was late and once we found someone, they were incredibly accommodating

Not comfortable at all so please a normal double mattress still make everyone's stay so much better!

- Olivia (10/5): Would return now that we know what to expect - It was a cool experience with my teens to stay in a tent house like this. There are no extra blankets or towels supplied. So if you sleep cold, bring extra blankets. Also, The wood burning fireplace was meeting too much smoke into the tent itself, we had to turn it off and open the door flap. Maybe operator error but the smoke didn’t let me sleep well as I was paranoid we would die in our sleep.

- Chelsea (2/5): Accommodation needs to be more clear on the website. Thankfully we entertained ourselves and got on with it but awful va - The log burner was nice. They also give you a free bag of logs everyday so we always had plenty. The private toilet as they say on the website is a portable toilet which they tell you to only use as an emergency when you need the toilet in the middle of the night. The rest of the time you are meant to use the toilet block which is in the same room as the showers so they absolutely stink. The showers were shared and I can honestly say they were the most disgusting showers I have ever seen. They have a sign outside that says for camp guests only but no one enforces it so anyone and everyone used them. There was clumps of hair everywhere in the women’s the floor is rusting or just general wear and tear. The floor was also full of water every time you went in so you were either staying in someone’s dirty shower water or god forbid urine which was definitely the case in the men’s. In the men’s there was always tissue everywhere and it stunk beyond measure. My partner couldn’t have a shower the entire time we were there because the men’s was so vile. To top it off they had a school staying the same week we did. We were only told on the first night that the showers would be closed for an hour. The rest of the week we had to figure it out for ourselves. The tent itself was lovely but the double bed is not a double bed it’s two singles pushed together. This was a big issue for us as my partner is 6,6” so as you can imagine he really struggled. We stayed during may so in the day the tent was lovely and warm but during in the night it was absolutely freezing on the first night we were literally shivering in bed trying to sleep. We spend our second day there shopping at Asda for things that would make our stay more enjoyable like getting a couple of fluffy throws and more warm clothing for the night. To top it all off when we arrived our safe wouldn’t work and we had to sit in for at least half an hour whilst they tried to fix it. In the end they ended up just giving us the safe key to keep hold of as they couldn’t get it to work properly.

- Athena (5/5): - Was very pretty . Very uncomfortable beds . No extra bedding for cold nights and it was freezing . We had 1 cup and 2 glasses , 3 plates and 5 folks for 6 people . The toilets were always dirty , the showers always uncleaned also . Infact the same sanitary bin with the contents spilling was the same for two days . We needed to warm up so went to the coffee shop and was served 3 cold coffees. Im not a picky person and we did enjoy our stay but it was basic . For the price it was cheaper at other locations .

- ROSIE (5/5): Fun, novel way to spend the night. But not ideal in the colder months! - Loved the novelty of the camp. Great fun to watch the surfers. Tents were well equipped. The tents needed to be better resourced for the cold weather. Either tell guest to bring extra blankets or provide them. We needed a lot more fire wood to run a fire for the evening. Despite being seemingly in the country, nearby roads and a railway made it quite a noisy night.

Accommodation didn’t smell very nice. Hadn’t been cleaned to the best standard - still ketchup all over the dining table from the previous guest. Staff not on hand and had to search for them. Shame the bar and restaurant closed at 8pm

Unfortunately, the 1st night we had storm Dave which meant a very disturbed sleep (out of your control I know) The 2nd night was even worse as we had a group of men in the tent next to us.. They were extremely noisy until about 2am!! We contacted security several times who was very good at trying to resolve the situation but unfortunately the men didn't listen. My husband had to go talk with them & then fortunately they took notice.. I'm hoping from this bad situation we can gain a form of compensation?? Many thanks
- katie (2/5): Too cold for a stay in April - The space inside the tent was good, the parking and access to the tents was also very good. The tents were extremely cold at night, despite us using three bags of wood for the log burner, we still struggled to keep warm. On the second night, our 2-year-old was particularly affected and woke up so cold in the early hours (her hands were freezing) making it difficult for her to get back off to sleep. The staff were very helpful but unable to provide heaters. We also experienced some rain coming into the room. The staff were helpful in responding by taping up the window and changing the mattress the following day, which we appreciated. However, the space still felt damp and the overall stay was not as comfortable as we had hoped.

The log burners are brilliant and really do keep you warm in the main room which has so much space and a sofa, big table and chairs/ bench. The kitchen is very limited with only two small electric free standing hobs. A small fridge to keep other food a drinks in too though. I surf at the wave so its great to store your board and get changed before and after. You can bring your car down and park in numbered spot matched to the tent you are staying in and leave it for the duration of your stay. The staff are so friendly and helpful and really do add to the experience and atmosphere of the whole place. Having to leave :-(

- James (8/5): Great value family stay in fun safari tents - Great set up for families which the kids loved. The safari tent had three bedrooms, including a double and two with bunk beds. It was comfortable, quiet and with good amenities in the tent. We arrived at sunset which was beautiful. The restaurant and facilities at the Wave are good, if a bit pricey. The shower area is shared with those using the wave (despite signs suggesting campers only) and could do with updating to include better changing areas / privacy etc.

- Andy (8/5): Very Nice campsite - The campsite is well laid out in a field beside the wave, which is seriously impressive. We loved sitting on the café sundeck with a drink, watching the surfers until sunset. The tent itself is thoughtfully set up and comfortable. The wood burner is a nice touch, although it doesn’t quite heat the whole space, so worth bearing that in mind. We’re not seasoned campers and only stayed one night, which was great fun. That said, I think we’d have struggled to stay much longer. For camping though, it’s about as close to five-star as you’ll get. One big thing that lets this place down is the toilet facility, the floors were flooded with water and not well kept. plus the breakfast cafe is also a bit pretentious, £8 for a sausage and egg sandwich which couldn't hold a candle to a Gregg's!

- Nicola (4/5): Don’t expect a peaceful sleep! - We have stayed and surfed before and the location is easy to get to & the tents are generally great. The staff (with the exception of one) on both visits have been great, friendly and helpful. The beds are comfy and there are good basic supplies, such as logs for the wood burner and tea/coffee. The facilities are generally cleaned to a good standard too. Unfortunately the first time we stayed we were kept awake by two rugby groups, the children were still running wild gone 12, but more infuriating was the fact they were banging on the side of the safari tents (of other guests). This time we were kept awake by loud music and singing. On both occasions security did speak to the parties but they carried on after they left. Come 10pm the noise is meant to be considerate to others. It’s obviously not going to be really quiet as it is basically a glorified campsite! But people need to be kicked off site if they can’t keep the noise to a reasonable level after numerous warnings. Having your kids woken up and unable to sleep isn’t acceptable considering it isn’t cheap. The services of the tents are generally really good but there aren’t any protective covers on the mattresses or pillows, which is a bit grim, in my view. Also simple things like a hand towel and washing up liquid would be appreciated. The sink on both occasions didn’t have a plug to keep water in, so washing up is pretty wasteful on the water front. On this visit they were clearly staff shortages as all the dirty linen from the previous guests was left on the veranda! These things do happen but sadly it means after two visits and two expensive sleepless nights we won’t be staying again. Prior to 10pm, it was lovely seeing all the children running around and having fun though. Perhaps they need to think of having a family area away from a party area. I know on both occasions we weren’t the only ones upset/disturbed by the noise….families beware!

- GEORGINA (10/5): Absolutely prefect - The beds were comfort, the staff were very friendly, the fire inside was lovely extra and made it feel like home (even better than home). I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and can't wait to return again. Added bonus is they have made a car park near the tents so the walk is a minute to check in and to our tent. A toaster would of been great (unless I couldn't find it) :)

- Johnny (8/5): Love the wave lake, love the instructors. Can’t be helped that we’re 3 hrs away…. - Made our own breakfast. Campsite right next to the lake, so that was handy. Winds and rain made for noisy accommodation (not easy to sleep when the tent is flapping hard and rain is drumming on the roof). The tent hadn’t been cleaned properly, the huge cobweb over the loo, with the dead spider in it was evidence enough of that. Otherwise it was fine.

Timings were very wrong for staff hut closing (couldn’t get more fire wood) and the restaurant closed 3 hours before the notice board said. Early check out, rush in the morning.

- Miguel (8/5): - The perfect place to surf at the Wave and the staff was very helpful and friendly The outdoor bathrooms are shared with The Wave users, not in the camp. There's only one toilet in the tent so you don't have to go out at night.

- Greg (10/5): Great trip to the Wave - Great value for money with excellent facilities and friendly staff. Minor things - The accommodation could do with a bit of storage for clothing and more places to hang jackets or towels, especially when trying to dry them.
- Amy (10/5): Cute and relaxing stay - Lovely, relaxing stay in our own little safari tent with a nice warm fire. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay! There was no tea/coffee/sugar or wood when we arrived. Considering the sort of accommodation, a small bottle of milk in the fridge wouldn’t have gone amiss.
