Guest Reviews
- Maureen (4/5): Disappointing - Great location and right beside subway but this is HK so bedroom small. Hardest part is going through the Indian section down stairs but for the money and convenience to the convention centre it was great . I never felt unsafe or afraid even though I was by myself .
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arcee (8/5): Hkstaycation - I like the staff specially miss KC she is awesome what ever you ask and you need she will give you exactly and she is very polite and kind The lift from the building it's so crowded and always busy.
- Jumeida (6/5): Pleasant -
- Yolly (3/5): Poor - Poor My expectation is not the same as you see in the picture.i did not finish my stay there not cimfortable i booked a deluxe but it was not what i expected.
- Dmitry (1/5): Absolutely disgusting - Good currency exchange rates downstairs in the building and access to the metro, bus and Star Ferry. I've never thought I would write such review but it's the right time.
The property doesn't match booking.com description because they'll give you any random room. There are few dozens of properties in this building which is called Chungking Mansions. So the company which has a license can operate several hotels, hostels, etc. They can put any name: "Tokyo Hostel, Moscow Hostel, Whatever Hostel". Once the customers feedback will drop below zero, they may close or rename it.
Regarding the property. Tiny and dirty room. Leaking and broken plumbing, extremely noisy AC, not working TV. Wi-Fi is 0 or 1 of 4 bars and can connect only in the corner of the room. To enter the room you need to use the access card which is one per room, not per person. Before that you need to use the same key to open the lobby door. So if you are not alone - you need to wait the person or enter/exit together. There are cockroaches and its eggs everywhere in the lobby, on the floors and some of them are trying to enter the room.
To get to you room you need to use the elevator which is always full. So you can wait for 20 minutes. Optionally you can use the staircase from your floor and walk 8, 10 or more floors up or down. And guess what? On the next day the elevator broke and it was the only option. The floors are extremely dirty and some people are smoking there regardless of the huge fines for that. Downstairs there is a big, smelly and noisy market.
If you ever played videogame "Stray" you will understand the atmosphere there.
NEVER EVER stay there!!! Even if you need to pay extra 100 USD per night for another place - do it without any regrets.
PS. As per reviews Davao Hostel is not the worst accommodation in this building and considered to be clean comparing to another ones. ALL people whom I met were complaining.
- Ashok (1/5): Bad - Nothing Service bad
- Emerita (1/5): Bad - Lcation. It was conveniently situated in a central area, which made it easy for us to access nearby attractions and transportation I recently stayed at this hostel with my family for three nights, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it for families with kids or seniors. The room we were provided was extremely small & dirty and barely accommodated us for sleeping purposes
if you're on a tight budget and don't mind sacrificing some comfort and cleanliness for a lower rate, this hostel might work for you. Otherwise, I would advise looking for alternatives that offer a more pleasant stay for families.
- Chrisgin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elaine (1/5): its not a good stay if you,re with family because the room is so small..hardly to move.. - accessible to attractions the room so small
the area not good..dirty
not good staff
- Ira (7/5): Good - Clean. Station is just below the block We paid additional 200 dollars on top of the total bill shown here on the app.
- Yan (5/5): If you want to be respected, you will not choose this hotel. - 1. Most female staffs are nice. They tried their best to help me get the best room they couldn't find for my price. 1. The female receptionist, who is probably the only female in the front desk, is mean. She doesn't like customers to question her about facilities usage in the room or anything about service. The impression she gave me is to try to make customers look bad so she might get some kind of satisfied or she just could feel better herself.
2. The first room they gave me was bigger but the wash basin was leaking, which made brushing the teeth impossible to be done without wetting the shoes. It wasn't a big problem but the female receptionist didn't like it when I told her what was wrong in the room.
3. Everything in the second room was okay except for opening the door. They had this kind of door opener which was a piece of metal to slide in a crack of the knob. If you don't pay attention to look for the font or the back of the metal, the door will not open. For someone like me who never used such thing to open a door, the female receptionist was really getting a chance to make me look stupid. I was just happy to leave by the time I finished my stay with them.
- Grace (1/5): dirty with bugs we do not recommend you to stay here even if its cheap - the location of the property is okay no problem with location the place is dirty with bugs, towels have extra charge, even if you pay for cleaning fees they did not clean our room, every corner of the area is infected with tiny bugs that might go through your ears while sleeping the smell of the room is also not good
the elevator has a long waiting time
- Emilyn (3/5): Not recommendable - None AC not cooling, sink clogged, faucet broken, no towels unless asked
- Emilyn (4/5): Staff not friendly at least after a long flight, all we need is a greeting and smile. - There are food and groceries nearby. Train and bus also. Layout of building, room not prepared, have to ask towel.
- Jason (1/5): ****WARNING DO NOT BOOK!**** - Nothing. We left after check in as the rooms were disgusting Left because it was disgusting
Staff laughed at us for this
No refund offered
No attempt to fix
The absolute worst. Do NOT BOOK
- Danielah_uribe (1/5): Bad - kind staff it was located inside a busy market. inside the room: the toilet didn't flush, I found some insects as well
- Jynne (8/5): Very good -
