Guest Reviews
- Kwame (8/5): Really good stay & host will be back -

- Nigel (5/5): just adequate for a short stay, good location for horniman' but in need of maintenance - good location , good price, very handy for our visit to horniman gardens where our son works bits of room felt very tired - wall coverings peeling off , skirting boards detached from wall, leaky shower[ despite being patched up with tape] lights over beds that flash different colours [ most annoying when trying to read!!!]
- Carleen (3/5): Poor - Staff pleasant, room look and smells nice. Bathroom was messy.needs a lot of cleaning up and upgrading. Shower doesn't work properly
- Karl (5/5): Convenient and cheap, but you get what you pay for. - Convenient and private. A quiet suburban street. Had everything we needed. State of repair. Some things didn’t work, it was dirty and unkept in general.
- Kronberg (1/5): Pass - Smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. The windows were open when we got there and we couldn't close them due to the smell. We ended up leaving and not staying either night we booked. There were signs posted for no smoking, but those rules weren't followed. The bedding was also not very clean.. hair on pillows. There was a half eaten biscoff in the kitchenette. It was on the 4th floor.
- Anna (4/5): Okay for a night or two, not more - The staff was really kind and helpful and we could come back at night at whatever hour we wanted. The position is good, the house is in zone 3 near the Forest Hil station so it's easy to reach London centre within an hour. Cleanliness is clearly not a priority here. It needs to be severely improved. It could be okay for a night or two, but not for more. We stayed for 7 nights and came back home with lots of bug bites and in general very disappointed with the status of the room and bathroom.
- Victoria (2/5): Not impressed with how dirty it was - The parking was free It was so dirty, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable
The facilities were awful
They used so many extension leads it didn’t seem safe everything was tangled and so poorly organised
There was bundles of hair caught up in the cables
The toilet was dirty
Bathroom was ok, but not clean
The “garden view” was of next doors garden so not exactly garden view
The staff were friendly and polite.
- Galambos (9/5): Superb -
- Veronica (1/5): Bad - Nothing at all
It was dire, dirty, a health and safety hazard but Sharon was welcoming See above
- Hayes (1/5): Never again!!! - Location was good Bed very old and worn, squeaky when you moved. En suite was disgusting, didn't use the shower or basin. Dirty used towels left on the shelf, previous occupants shower gel etc left in the shower. Fridge was noisy, kept switching on and off all night. Hardly slept due to feeling itchy all night. Shocked to find a place like this on Hotels.com
- Jeanette (5/5): Passable. Not suitable for people with lots of luggage or a long stay - The home felt secure and within a safe area. Beds comfortable. Plenty of water, tea coffee biscuits available. TV had Netflix. Free wifi right. Home is next to the Horniman Museum and gardens, which was lovely. 15 min walk to station. Lady was very pleasant and welcoming. Room wasn't the most pleasant but passable. Awkward and small for 2 people staying for a week. No wardrobe or space under bed to put suitcase Room very warm. Lots of extention leads plugged into extention leads into third set of extention leads - not the safest way forward. Saw a cockroach or mouse trap on floor between bed and wall. Shower was hard to work. Shampoo/conditioner was empty.
I sadly left an item at the property, and was contacted straight away and was offered to post it back free of charge but the item never turned up. :/
- Wheeler (10/5): Exceptional - It has lovely scenery and a very comfortable space.
- Valerie (4/5): Disappointing -
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were amazing and the room was equipped with everything you’d need for more than 2 days stay even. It was very clean and not very far from the local tube station and only 30 mins from London central it’s ideal.
- Fraser (10/5): Exceptional -
- Szeyuen (9/5): pleasant - definitely recommend! - - easy and simple self check in.
- plenty of refreshments and facilities.
- staff was very communicative.
- very decently priced and will come again!! - took a few minutes to figure out how to use the shower, but we managed!
- Chiu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andy (7/5): Good - It was basic accommodation but was great for a couple of nights.
- David (8/5): Very good - Lovely owner, beautiful location, tea and coffee in the room, possibility of early check-in, possibility to return late at night, comfortable beds Beautiful bathroom, but the massage shower is out of order and the shower is only with a hose without a shower head
- Ayla (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kah (9/5): Small (but cozy!) - Basically, everything! Especially the steam cabinet (steam room, the shower thing). There is a small fridge. Don't be a facepalm, and forget to plug in the plug of fridge. Took us 1 and half a day to notice the unplugged plug. My friend commented that the fridge wasn't cold, lol. Not really dislike, just minor inconvenience if you expect yourself to go back and forth to your crib/stay multiple times a day. It is a bit over an hour by bus. The nearest bus station is 5 min walk. There is a bus going directly to near China town. It stops almost in front of the Phoenix Theater.
- Derek (7/5): Met my requirements handy locale for stay - Friendly staff ample facilities clean comfortable beds, secure. Shower complicated and could be cleaner.
- Jenny (6/5): I am unlikely to stay there again. - Pleasant friendly host. Good situation and convenient for visiting family. It could have been cleaner. I came away with insect bites. The bed was uncomfortable for me.
- Andora (6/5): Easy to get to even though it’s not in central London, it has everything you need but it needs a good deep clean. - The room had everything we needed, a mini kitchen with kettle, microwave, fridge, private bathroom, and the beds were comfortable with extra blankets and towels too.
The host was very helpful with all the instructions and letting us check in quite late due to late flight arrival. They also let us check out a bit later as my friend was sick during our stay.
The location is very good. An easy bus ride from the centre of London, about 50 min on the bus or 30 min by taxi. The bus stop was about 10 min walk from the property (at night you have to go around as the quickest route is through the Horniman gardens which are closed at night).
The area is very nice with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby (although there’s a steep hill to get there). We enjoyed the Horniman museum, the gardens are beautiful and the museum is well kept. There’s a cafe at the museum too. It does need improvement with the cleaning. The bed sheets and towels were ok, but the room is generally very outdated and there a lot of corners that look like they haven’t been cleaned in a long time.
Also, be mindful that It is a small room for two people. But that didn’t bother us too much, we made it work.
- Aileen (9/5): Superb -
- Lydia (10/5): Fabulous stay in an excellent location - Great location and the host had really thought of everything, she had provided all the facilities we could possibly need, and many more. Strong disinfectant smell to the room but easily solved by having the windows open. We appreciated how clean it was.
- Sandra (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (8/5): Very good - A nice, quite well-equipped room with basic cooking facilities. The area is beautiful with the Horniman Park just opposite. However, it is VERY hilly making the walk to or from the station, bus stop or shops (which aren't very far) quite an effort! Access information was sent a few days before arrival and it was fairly clear. Everything was OK.
- Lev (7/5): Good - It was very clean It was very small and far away from the center
- Bechthold-byerly (8/5): Comfortable room in a nice location - Sharon is always friendly and provides some little snacks which is great. The location in a beautiful and quiet street very close to Horniman Park suits me very well.
- Maria (4/5): Disappointing - Host was very friendly. Location was good for us. Bathroom was dirty. Lighting in the bathroom was very poor. No mirror in bedroom. Dark brown bedlinen was very off-putting.
- Jim (8/5): Very good - Friendly welcome, easy access with key/fob etc, good location, free parking, good value.
- Nikola (5/5): Not bad,not great. The place is not clean enough, especially bathroom and shower. But did the job - Location is good and owner was friendly. Shower and toilet were not clean enough. The shower is almost unusable with broken showerhead
- Bettina (8/5): Very good - There was everything we needed, the room was warm and cozy, Sharon had even provided some snacks and coffee/ tea. The location in a beautiful residential area close to Horniman Park and Forst Hill station suited us very well. No complaints whatsoever.
- Nyree (5/5): Easy access to buses and ok as not in room all the time. - The outside and the security property with a fob to access. The bedroom floor wasn’t clean the electrics for the fridge microwave and toaster were a health hazard the shower in the bathroom didn’t work very well advertised a a private bathroom, but it was a shared bathroom.
- Elias (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you Sharon for your kindness and warm reception, We were pleased to stay in your home during our short trip, you left a good impression on us.
- Matthew (8/5): Perfect for a quick overnight stay - Great location. Quiet. Clean. Perfect for an overnight stay.
- Andrijana (1/5): Bad - I couldnt even come to London, due to my health problems. I wanted refund, but they refused...
- Lionel (2/5): Avoid this place, until this bug issue being solved - This room is well equipped and has a good location Unfortunately, insects from behind the wall covering were getting to the beds. It was a bad experience that spoiled the rest of my staying in London.
- Doru (9/5): Thank - Thank you Thank you
- Riggs (9/5): Friendly suburbia delivers an epic stay - The welcome made us feel special and we were almost treated like family by Sharon & her family. Very friendly, always willing to help out to make our stay a pleasant one. The room we stayed in had everything we could possibly want and a lovely outlook onto the suburban Street. If you like Suburbia with a little peace & quiet then this is the property for you. The nearest shop is a little trek away & the terrain is quite hilly but don't let that put you off. Forest Hill is a pleasant suburb with excellent bus links to the city & other outlying areas including a night bus that drops you outside the nearby Horniman Museum with a shortish walk around the streets back to the property. Forest Hill also has an Overground station with regular trains to Croyden, Crystal Palace and Highbury & Islington (where you can link with the tube network to the city). The aforementioned Horniman Museum is free to visit and well worth doing so if you're into curios collected by Victorians. The Aquarium & Butterfly House does charge admission. We didn't visit these so I can't comment on them but the area was very busy with families enjoying themselves in the museum & surrounding Park when we visited. A small Sunday Market sells local produce & goods and, for the children & young at heart, there are Alpaca and sheep to look at. If you're looking for reasonably priced food & drinks then you can't go wrong with a visit to the local Wetherspoons (The Capitol) in Forest Hill. Sainsburys and a Tesco Express can provide you with groceries etc too. I had never stayed in this part of London before but the Big Home in Forest Hill was an amazing introduction to the area. I would highly recommend this property for anyone who doesn't want to pay over the odds for a city property and likes a bit of peace and quiet now & again, and the wild Parakeets always amaze me with their antics. I can't really put anything here as the property was lovely & the owners treated us amazingly
- Sofyan (6/5): Pleasant -
