• Tracey (1/5): Didn’t like the look of the property. - Never stayed. No parking at all. Just looked like someone home in the ghetto. Plus it was raining so hard we literally couldn’t get out the car to make a fair assessment of inside. But from the look of outside, I would say no.

El desayuno era bastante contundente y se servia en una fuente de soda al lado de la cabaña. En ese mismo lugar se puede cenar de regreso de los tours y los precios son bastante convenientes. El alojamiento dice que tiene estacionamiento incluido pero en realidad estacionas el auto en la calle, lo cual en La Fortuna no es problema porque es una localidad muy segura y al parecer la policia local no pasa multas.

• Marissa (10/5): - The location of the hotel is great, about a 4 minute walk to the park and many restaurants. Breakfast is provided at the soda right next to the hotel, which was delicious! Air conditioning was provided in the room at an additional cost of $10 a day. Definitely worth getting the AC. To me, the hotel was a great price for everything provided, a steal! Plenty of natural light in the room. WiFi worked great, TV in room, a little kitchen with a mini fridge and plates, and cups. The bed was comfortable, the comforter was a sheet and a throw blanket. The water in the shower was cold, but you got used to it. A locked gate in front of the hotel for extra safety. There were cold showers

• Luminita (6/5): Clean bed and friendly staff, but the bathroom smell was difficult - I stayed three nights at Tico Bed and Breakfast. The location is very good, close to the center, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The staff are very kind and welcoming. The food at Soda Lulu is also very good. Room number 1 was clean, with fresh sheets and towels, and the bed was comfortable. The room is very old. The walls are darkened and have many holes, and the space feels a bit depressing. The biggest issue for me was that the bed is very close to the toilet, and there is an unpleasant smell coming from that area. There is no door between the sleeping area and the bathroom, only a curtain. If you are not very demanding and you are looking for a low budget place, it can still be an acceptable option.

• Veronika (3/5): ich kann das einzelzimmer nur als notlösung empfehlen - die lage ist zentral die ganze umgebung wirkt ungepflegt und lieblos. ich weiss nicht, ob die grösseren zimmer in einem besseren zustand sind aber das einzelzimmer hinter der restaurantküche ist eine zumutung. schon der enge zugang ist mit abwasser von der waschmaschine überschwemmt, das zimmer selbst ist winzig, es riecht nach schimmel, der am duschvorhang und in der dusche auch sichtbar ist. klimaanlage und kühlschränkchen funktionieren nicht und der ventilator lässt sich nur mit mühe einstellen. es gibt keinerlei ablagefläche. alles wirkt desolat und schmudlig, ich habe mich nicht wohl gefühlt!
• Hit the Road (5/5): Disappointing... - The food was great and the staff friendly, and the location near the centre of town was ideal. Also secure off road parking. The room was poor, with a sink that did not drain properly and no hot water , and the shower area needed to be improved. I was disappointed as I had expected much better.

• Rachel (10/5): Amazing hospitality in a comfortable room. - We enjoyed the hospitality from the owners. They are very kind and provided a great place to stay in a safe part of town. For the price, you can't beat it! The bed was comfortable and the lighting at the porch area was cute! The room was most likely built by the owners (shower has a camp feel) and while it is not luxurious it is safe, welcoming and comfortable. We would recommend and stay again! (USA)

• Greg (4/5): Having stayed over 8000 nights in the hotels in my life, by far the majority of which I would recommend, this one I woul - The hotel had quite a great breakfast with scrambled eggs, rice, and beans, patacones, cheese, a tortilla, and coffee. The hotel owner was quite accommodating when I did not like my first room and allowed me to switch from the single room for two nights to a double room for one night. I booked a single room that was built is 161 ft.². I stepped it off and it was more like 49 ft.². With the bathroom included it was perhaps 70 ft.² Very, very misleading. To get to the Rome, you had to step over this cinder block wall. It seems as though the room that I was in used to be a storage room. The room next to mine was a storage area. Also, the Internet would not hold the signal, it keeps dropping me from the Wi-Fi.
• Iffat (10/5): Amazing host - For my stay in La fortuna, I booked this single bed rickety budget hostel because I was supposed to be out and about from 6 am to 8pm. I just needed a place to shower and sleep. I didn't care about all the concerns people raised about the noise, messy furniture, smell, bugs. I spent my budget on tours. Well, not surprisingly, my flight got delayed and instead of reaching at 4pm, I reached there at 2 am the next day. All the negative reviews started to create a melodrama in my brain as I feared of being left out on a street as no hotel would accomodate me at that time. I sent the message to the owner, who assured me to not worry about my stay. Despite living away from the property, they drove at 2 am and gave me the keys, while updating my stay to a larger room with a queen bed. Yes you can hear rain pattering on the fiberglass roof, the restaurant staff tappering in the back, saw a big fat cockroach behind the musty fridge. But you get what you pay for. And honestly, I was accomodated much better than what I booked. I had a clean bed, towels, hot water and a fulfilling breakfast. The place is close to almost every tour company homebase walking distance to, amazing restaurants and shopping places.Thanks so much for your generosity and the great treatment like I am your family! If you want  soundproof walls, insect free place, there are 100s of options around La fortuna and Bocaarenal.  Please keep that in mind before booking these kind of hostels.

• Juan Carlos (1/5): Estafadores profesionales - Tienen buenas palabras y parecen buena gente y luego son unos estafadores profesionales. Te ofrecen un cuchitril infecto que allí no hay quien esté, y luego te ofrecen algo un poco mejor por 45€ la noche y claro lo coges, ya que al llegar tarde no puedes buscar nada mejor. Es otra chabola sucia, el frigorífico no se limpiaba en años, lo abrías y había un producto lácteo caducado y otras cosas con olor nauseabundo. Llevo ya un mes en Costa Rica y no he encontrado un sitio tan asqueroso y a ese precio.

• Hannah (2/5): This is not a Bed and Breakfast. It is ok if you want a very small room. - The breakfast was good. However, since most tours start at 6:00 A.M., and the breakfast window is 7-9, I only was able to eat breakfast once or twice out of four nights. The host was able to offer me additional nights when needed. The location is safe (although I think all of La Fortuna is safe) and not too far from the main section of town. Please be aware that this is not a Bed and Breakfast, at least not in the U.S. or European sense of the word. It is a room behind a restaurant, and there is no one who stays there overnight. The room in the picture is not the room I was given upon arrival. When I arrived, it was unclear where the B and B was. There was just a gate with a sign and some apartments in the back. I had to go into the restaurant to find someone to help me, which was confusing. The room behind the restaurant is extremely small. There is barely enough space to bring your suitcase inside. The host offered me a different larger room (the one in the picture) for an additional upgrade; however there were some issues with this space. If you only want a bed for a night, the smaller room should suffice. Otherwise, I would say that for the price of the larger room, you would be better off staying in a hotel.

Super breakfast. The distance to the village can be covered on foot in 5 minutes. We would go again in a heartbeat.

They were clean and nicely decorated. I did not like that I had to pay up front for my entire stay when I registered online and had not seen the property. The booking said non-refundable. I don't know if that was a booking.com policy or from Tico BnB but it started my visit with a bad feeling. I was asked to change rooms after 4 days and my second room was cramped. It had a double and a single bed. That left no room for a seating area. It would have been a very nice room with only one bed.

Wilbert, Lulu, and their family were incredibly friendly and easy to communicate with both before and during my visit. The gluten-free breakfast was delicious, especially the coffee! The location is in a quiet area but still very close to the centre of La Fortuna and great restaurants. Highly recommend!

• Lucas (7/5): Great budget stay with good breakfast - Nice stay and value for money. Good breakfast! The deluxe room is not fully enclosed so there can be insects in the room. The wifi did not work inside the rooms, but very well outside!
• Taka (10/5): Amazing location; kind and friendly owner; great breakfast; great deal! - Owner was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful; made great breakfast. Also had a very friendly/kind bilingual lady co-host there that helps out the owner (because I'm still working on my Spanish!). Great deal and amazing location - although next time I'll probably book the place with the AC, not realizing how hot and humid it gets there at night! Finding the location was difficult at first (I helped another guest also find the place - she was also walking around the area looking lost). The "on-site" parking is really impossible (too tight), but the area is super safe and there is plenty of street parking nearby.
• Mckenna (10/5): Exceptional - Close to everything, yet still very peaceful. Lulu and Wilbur are absolutely wonderful hosts and will help anywhere they can. When I return, I will be staying there again!
• Tamara (9/5): Cheap room for solo traveller near La Fortuna center - As a solo traveller I enjoyed my little room near the center of La Fortuna. The owners are super kind and made me a delicious breakfast every morning. /
• Seidl (10/5): Einfach toll - It was so nice They have to tiny little dogs who are so sweet and only want to cuddle They are really caring and just easy going in any way 🩵 Responding to messages immediately also booking tours spontaneously!!!!🧘🏼‍♀️ An allover great place to stay in famila Environment and atay save also travelli g alone in an foreign Country The bed was awesome and suuuuper clean fresh linen Also very good cusions Plus 10 bedwise🦋🦋🦋 The room is simple just as i like it. You can prepare coffee or tea hang in your patio with a riny aquarium👌 Das ich nach Hause muss weil der Urlaub vorbei ist
