Guest Reviews
- Chris (10/5): The view was sensational. Don't worry about the steep driveway. It's fine. Other reviewers are weak! - Fab location. It was clean and cold enough to use the fireplace, so we had a cosy stay.
- Melissa (7/5): - Clean and tidy accommodation. Stunning views. The drive up to the property is not great. Very steep and sharp corners, would not be good for inexperienced drivers. Wouldn’t book again knowing the driveway to get to the property.
- abigail (10/5): - Loved the location and view and very comfortable Blue carpet on steps looks tatty whilst the rest is great
- Gemma (10/5): - Great property overlooking Bicheno - tucked away in the hills but not isolated. Clean and comfortable - exactly what we needed.
- Dr Sonali (9/5): Relaxing private retreat - Stunning scenery. Relaxing retreat. Love the wooden interior & expansive ocean views! The gravel road was quite slippery due to rain on our arrival.. had to park the car at the base of driveway & carry bags uphill. A 4WD would be best on a rainy day.
- Myfanwy (10/5): Magnificent - This place is absolutely beautiful, the views are beyond amazing. Beautifully fitted out and a perfect place to stay for anyone visiting Bicheno
- The Tobe (8/5): Great place to stay if you do not want to be in town. Great ocean and sunrise views. - The view was incredible. The place was appointed nicely. Beautiful artwork. Kitchen had all the pots, pans, dishes, glasses you would ever need. The quiet. The nature. The trees. Sunrise. Beautiful. The drive up from the main road was very exciting! The washing machine. It is a combination washer and dryer IN ONE UNIT. Very weird. There was no operation instructions. Clothes washed OK but the dryer function left a LOT to be desired. It did not dry well. Clothes came out extremely wrinkled. And damp... IF you could get them out. Three times we did laundry, we had to UNPLUG the unit for 5 minutes so the door would unlock.
The house smelled very strongly of wood smoke when we arrived. The second night we found out why. There is a great wood stove that heats up nicely but it puts a LOT of smoke into the house when you open the door to stoke the fire.
- Jenny and Mark (10/5): Sunrise to sunset, treetop paradise! - From the outside in...
The scenery
The roads
The location
The garden
The driveway (it was amazing if not a little scary the first time (for Jenny 😜))
The setting of the home on the block
...
Then you get inside...
And the photos are good, but the real thing is amazing!!!
The layout of the rooms
The lovely big bathroom/laundry
The furnishings
The equipment in the kitchen/dining
The colour scheme
The artwork
... THOSE VIEWS!!!!!
This is a weather watching, whale watching, bird watching, flora & fauna watching delight.
Couldn't have asked for anything more... except to stay longer perhaps...
Didn't see any whales, but it was fun to keep a lookout, and what a perfect vantage point.
Safe to say, we LOVED our stay, and Bicheno is a lovely town too. I didn't like that I almost got the car stuck on the drive in... but we overcame that little glitch.
- Melissa (10/5): Best spot in tas - Peaceful gorgeous beautiful home slice of paradise definitely will be coming back Nothing everything was perfect
- Glorbri (9/5): Fantastic stay - It was peaceful and wake up in the morning with a view of the ocean. The driveway. This was very steep and rough.
- Kaylene (10/5): We loved our very unique family stay at the Tin Dragon. Our party of 6, including 4 teenage/young adult children wer - Unique stay, roomy, lots of food and kitchen supplies, games, books, dvds.
- Stephen (8/5): Accommodation lovely but driveway discourages leaving the house unless you have a 4WD - Exceptional service when we arrived on a cold soaking wet afternoon to find there was no firewood and the fire hadn't been set for our arrival. Tony arrived in the dark and pouring rain with a big load of firewood and then set about getting it going. It transformed our total view of the property and our arrival. The driveway is a nightmare. Steep, twisting, deeply rutted. A real shock on first ascent. Wouldn't attempt it in the dark.
- Grant (8/5): Very good - beautiful view tv not working
- Rhonda (7/5): Spectacular view but layout not ideal for 3 couples - The view was spectacular. The house was clean and linen was clean. There was a BBQ and a well equipped kitchen. The second bedroom is a thoroughfare to the third bedroom. To give privacy to those in the second bedroom the people in the third bedroom have to go outside, along the deck and back in the front. This was not great in the rain and strong wind!
Beds in room 2 & 3 are very hard. The driveway is very steep, fine for AWD and 4 WD but not great on cars lower to the ground.
The only toilet is in the bathroom.
- Sarah (7/5): If you have a 4WD, go for it. Otherwise the views aren’t worth the crazy driveway! - Beautiful home with spectacular views. Comfortable, well set up and good beds. The driveway is terrifying. I would have been fine in my 4WD, but in a rental, we struggled to get up it. As a results we cancelled most of our plans and only went out once, during the day, when we could come back in daylight.
- Lyn (10/5): We loved our 3 day stay. The house is spacious, comfortable, great kitchen, spectacular views! - Beautiful property in a stunning location. Very quiet and private. The gravel driveway is very steep and slippery.
- Craig (10/5): It was one of our top 3 stays on a 21 day tour around Tasmania. - On Arrival we didn’t know what to expect but once we got past the challenging driveway the views were absolutely amazing with almost 180 degree ocean views so within minutes of unpacking we were sitting on the large deck enjoying the views with a glass of red in hand. Although there were only two of us there were beds available for another 5 guests. The kitchen was generally well equipped and living areas generally comfortable. Driveway is a little challenging but the views are worth the challenge.
Only one toilet and bathroom.
- Darcie (8/5): Fantastic accommodation! - The property was beautiful and great value for money. We wish we had stayed much longer! Its only 5 minutes drive away from Bicheno, so it was also very convenient. Incredible views and great wildlife around the property The driveway is VERY steep and the gravel at the centre of the driveway comes up very high at some points, to the extent that it scraped the bottom of our car, so for most of our stay, we had to park the car towards the bottom of the driveway and walk up to the house. If you have a car that is close to the ground (like the hatchback we had), be careful!
