• Patrick (8/5): Great for a short term stay. - Reasonably well placed, just 15 minutes walk from the airport metro line, it’s in a nice area which has strong LGBT connections. Room was very small so only comfortable for short stays. Shared bathroom was no big issue although it is effectively a wet room. Kitchen area was okay and provided enough to allow some level of self board. Noise levels in late evening can be high but not too concerning. A smoke alarm was beeping one afternoon but after flagging it to the staff they sorted it.

• Aaron (8/5): A well-located, good-value stay with clean comfortable rooms, with a few manageable downsides - Perfect location for my needs, with easy access to everything - shops, bars and cafes. The room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable, with plenty of room to settle in. Despite being shared facilities, the bathrooms were cleaned daily, well maintained, and never felt busy or inconvenient to use. Overall, the stay was simple, comfortable, and very good value for the location. There is no lift, so be prepared to carry your luggage up three flights of stairs. I also saw two large cockroaches in the common areas, which was unsettling for me as I have a bit of a phobia, though I appreciate this can sometimes be part of staying in older pub-style accommodation. Also worth noting, the coffee machine appeared to be out of order and there was no note indicating this. I had bought coffee pods, only to find I couldn’t use them, which was a little disappointing. When i reported it the staff offered me some instant coffee powder, that was nice of them.

• Ming (7/5): Great value for money for oxford street but needs some improvements - Great location and overall good value for the location, helpful staff members, the place is perfect for those who likes night life of Oxford Street. Rooms are quite spacious and kept clean as well. One thing that really bugged me was the absence of hangers/stands for towels in the bathroom and in rooms. Imagine going to the shared bathrooms to take a showers but there is absolutely no place for you to hang your towels and cloth...... there are also nowhere I can hang my wet towel in room. Also instead of giving bar soaps, which is very wasteful as we hardly ever use up one, the hotel should consider liquid soap dispensers in bathrooms, which is much less wasteful and would probably save the hotel money.

• Peter (8/5): Great Value and Excellent Location Please fix the TV - Checking process getting faster when you have been before. Great location very nice rooms large and suitable with shared area, clean bathrooms, excellent value for money. TV in shared room has not worked for weeks, and has not been a remote in bedrooms to run your own TV. Have to provide personal details to log into the hotel internet for the TV, very odd, happy to do that for personal use but for the HOTEL TV? will stay again great place.

• Juan (3/5): - The location. It's central, but also in a noisy commercial area. It's not really a hotel, but a bar full of gambling machines (a mini-casino) that rents out rooms on the upper floors. It has poorly equipped shared bathrooms and a small kitchenette that I didn't use. Upon arrival, you're forced to pay an exorbitant deposit of AUD 100, which I'm still waiting to get back (I've been told it could take up to a month!).

• J (7/5): - The location is ok near many restaurants. Staff was nice. AC works. The room is nice, but tiny. It is quite busy area and you can hear a lot of noises. The walls are thin and you can hear everybody showering and going to the toilet etc. But you don't hear noises below from the bar. I didn't really like to give all my credit card details to them. Breakfast would be nice. WIFI works only in the bar, not in the room.

• Julie (4/5): - Comfy beds Staff had no idea. Was Rudely woken at 1am and told I had to change room as they had put me in the wrong room. Really hard to open the exterior door to get back into the property after hours. I actually couldn’t open it and was locked outside for ages

• Mason (8/5): Great rooftop retreat! - The room was great, even with the shared bathroom, the apartment was clean and big, and I'm only sorry that the weather was too bad for me to take proper advantage of the rooftop courtyard. I think it was a record heatwave, and the aircon made a valiant effort to keep me alive. The shared bathroom is probably a sticking point for a lot of people, I found it clean, and there was only one occasion when I had to wait to use the facilities. The only big problem I had was that the tap water tasted very bad in my room. There was a drinking water spigot, but either the city water is bad or the filter is desperately in need of changing, I had to go and buy water (not good in the heat wave!!)

Didn’t have any trouble with noise and stayed there on a Saturday (granted they didn’t rent out the top part any time I was there) Wifi didn’t work in my room, and the AC unit leaked water onto my head while I slept. TV didn’t work either

• Julian (7/5): Good for the purpose of our trip and near by to the places we wanted to visit. It’s ok if you are not too picky or snob! - We had a very nice large room in a very good location and even though it was part of a Hotel (bar/events venue in Australia) it was quiet and quite enjoyable 1. For some reason cockroaches find the way in a couple of times. The bed was clean but a bit soft for my taste. We shared toilets and bathrooms and, they were ok but the base tiles of them needs to be better clean. Also people have to be pointed on how to use better the bathroom so. it doesn’t become too wet for the next person to use. (Mats available in the shower rooms and not necessary in the rooms).

• Maria Ariadne (10/5): Very good location and overall good value for money - Very clean rooms and excellent location. It feels like a flat share, so you rely on the other occupants to be respect the quiet hours.
• MJ (8/5): Great comfortable room with all the amentites in an amazing location. - Great location. Amazing space and amenities including huge roof terrace just for the top floor studio. Not enough cutlery for all the other kitchenware. No dishwashing liquid/tea towels but could put straight into dishwasher.
• D'Angelo (7/5): Not bad if you're not bringing large suitcases - Good location, clean shared toilet, comfy beds. Good natural light in the rooms. There's access to a shared kitchen for preparing basic stuff. It's not designed for people bringing suitcases. The accomodation is upstairs and it can get really exhausting to drag your baggage all the way up after a draining flight. It's ok for short stays and bringing just a bag or a carry-on suitcase.

• Arie (8/5): 2 Weeks at Gasslight Inn - We arrived at the Gaslight Inn only to find that for some obscure reason the booking had been cancelled in their records. We really wish to thank Will the bartender that was on when we arrived as he was able to arrange and shuffle their bookings to fit us in for our 2 week stay. A big thank you to Will as we were able to enjoy the use of their top suite for 4 nights then changed rooms to a room we had booked. There is a lovely communal lounge area and kitchen with Nescafe coffee pod machine which took the Aldi coffee pods snd a microwave for heating up if you needed to. Regarding the kitchen area, it was a shame that there were no forks or spoons to use, or a tea towel or paper towel to wipe your dishes after using them. The other issue was the amount of dust we noticed under the bed in the 2 rooms we stayed in. This was noticed when i dropped sometging on the floor andcsaw the dust built uo.

• Sonja (9/5): A great value proposition for the area - Had the huge room with the deluxe terrace on a Saturday night. The bed was extremely comfortable, the private terrace is enormous with a lovely view of Centrepoint Tower. Fantastic huge kitchen and a dining area. The bar next door and downstairs were absolutely pumping out the music all day, which was totally expected, and this ceased at 1am promptly. This is a great venue in terms of the location just 50m back from Oxford St. Entrance is kind of through the gaming area which I did not like, but it's a very minor drawback. The gentleman at check in was extremely helpful and showed how everything works. They will take a $100 hold on your credit card when you check in. This place is an amazingly good compromise in a party central location for the price. Having to go downstairs where all the other rooms are to use to shared bathrooms in the scheme of things is a minor inconvenience.

• Paige (3/5): Couldn’t stay here again. - Close to the CBD and bus routes. Extremely noisy, pounding music until 1:00am from both the onsite bar and the bar next door. As a solo female traveller, the shared bathroom and communal areas feel unsafe. Room was nice however unclean, had a damp smell with rust/water damage on the walls and roof, bed consisted of two sheets over a mattress. Pokies downstairs is a bonus however smells terribly of cigarettes constantly. Was locked outside the building for roughly an hour when my key wasn’t working, tried to contact staff, had no reply. Wouldn’t stay here again unfortunately. Some staff were very friendly and helpful, otherwise barely said a word or acknowledged you.
