• Lindsay (1/5): Do yourself a favour and stay ANYWHERE else - nothing I have never been so disappointed or disgusted by a stay in my life. From the moment I arrived, it was a nightmare. Firstly, the property was impossible to find — no one local had even heard of “Escape Life @ Port Douglas.” There were no contact details provided until after booking, which made it even more frustrating. When I finally arrived, the first impression was appalling. I had tripped over on a cracked uneven ground that needed to be fixed outside of the property. The front door was stuck and almost impossible to open or close properly. Inside, the place was filthy. Thick dust covered surfaces, the carpets stank and were visibly dirty, and worst of all — there was faeces left in the toilet. Absolutely unacceptable hygiene standards. The bathroom was mouldy from top to bottom, especially in the grout and shower area. Broken tiles littered the loungeroom floor, and the lattice up the stairs was caked in grime and dust. Every surface felt neglected for months. The furniture was in terrible condition — the wicker chairs were torn, the plates and cutlery were a random mismatched assortment, and there wasn’t even a proper set of cups or glasses. To top it off, there was old food in the couch cushions. On Saturday night, I accidentally locked myself out because the door was so heavy and jammed, and it was nearly impossible to reach the host for help. The lack of responsiveness just summed up the entire experience — careless and unprofessional. Overall, this property was disgusting, poorly maintained, and falsely represented. It should not be available for guests in its current condition. Do yourself a favour and stay anywhere else — this place completely ruined what should have been a relaxing weekend.
• Grace (10/5): Perfect family vacay! - We loved our stay here. We booked this resort with a few other families and all had different villas. Ours was by far the best. The host provides some handy basics for the kitchen so you dont have to dash to the shops right away thankfully. The pool lagoon was phenomenal! We had kids a variety of ages and they all loved it. Lots of shallow and deep parts. *the map does look like there are two pools and a BBQ area, however the 2nd pool and BBQ area are totally inaccessible and it seems its for another part of the resort. Location was too far from town to walk with kids, but some of the adults enjoyed the exercise in to town. We didn't use the resorts small cafe/bar/restaurant, so cant comment on that. Highly recommend booking this place. We would love to come back one day again.

Lovely and clean. Would recommend this host and accommodation. We love the pool here. A quick drive to town and short walk to the beach. The resort restaurant isn't open for dinner only pool snacks.

• Jenna (9/5): It was a great unit in a great location. We would recommend it to any family traveling to port Douglas. - The amenities were fantastic. The kids loved the pool, and we loved that the unit was fully stocked with all the essentials you could want on a short stay. They provided plenty of towels, had access to all the streaming apps on the tv, and washer and dryer. They also had things like tinfoil and cling wrap which are rare in most holiday rentals. One more we had the water turned off in the entire unit. We chose to go out and it was resolved once we returned, but we were given no warning that the water would be off.
• Guest (9/5): My kids say it's the best place they've ever stayed! - We loved the accommodation was fully self contained so we could do our own shopping and cooking. It made things so much easier having a laundry to wash and the kids loved staying in a two story place. The place had a warm, light and bright feel but still felt fairly private. The pool was amazing being that it was a lagoon style with little smaller pool pockets off the main pool, with a waterfall, cave and little island in the middle of the pool. The kids absolutely loved it and it felt interesting having different little areas to swim, rather than just a rectangle pool. The resort had a gym, but as this unit is privately owned we didn't have access to it. We are gym junkies and would have appreciated using it, overlooking the pool. I never saw anyone in it, so an option to pay per day with the resort would have been good or to have the owner's gym key as part of the stay. I would stay here again, pending the gym being available to us. To note, the host never advertised it as being available, but since the resort itself had the facility we assumed it would have been part of the deal, so that was our mistake.

• Lorraine (9/5): Very enjoyable stay in a lovely unit in a great place - The unit was comfortable and well set out. It was also private and quiet. The pool was lovely. The staff at the resort were very nice and so was the owner Valerie when I spoke to her on the phone. We rode bikes when we wanted to go into town or caught the shuttle bus. Because it wasn't the peak season the restaurant wasn't open but that was ok because there were other resorts with restaurants close by.

Quiet surroundings Host was very helpful and replied promptly during our stay when we had a query Shower design made the floor very wet so perhaps supply a thicker bath mat to use so your not using the bath towels to soak up water.

• Alissa (10/5): A comfortable stay with great facilities. - Ammenities at the accomodation were great (two pools). An easy, short drive into town so a good location. Hosts were easy to communicate with and instructions were clear. The accomodation was clean and neat and very homely. Pillows weren't great - a little too hard/thin. A couple of our guests also got eaten alive by mosquitoes overnight and we aren't quite sure how they got in (maybe through the aircon?)
• David (9/5): Definitely recommend - Great location property well equipped and great value for money. Would recommend this property. We stayed at property for two weeks, just a small thing that would have been handy would have been a vacuum cleaner.

• Natasha (9/5): Relaxing, restoring resort style retreat you will love! - Spacious two storey apartment, towels provided, clean linen , comfy beds not too hard, some pantry items like flour etc available to use, fully equipped kitchen , full size fridge , working dishwasher, close to lagoon pool (less than 1 min walk) location perfect to shopping & supermarket/coles, restaurant precinct. Highly recommend Sailaway sunset day tour ( no wind is best), Shaolin cruise, The little larder for b’fast , The tin shed for seafood & under $22 for bargain clothes.highly recommend bargain rentals cairns for car hire too. Perfect destination to escape the stresses of life & get done much needed Resort style R&R , enjoy ! To getting use to Walking up & down stairs in apartment, makesure you have good joints with no issues.

Owner kindly had staples available if needed like laundry powder, pasta etc. Nice pool in the resort and about 3kms from the town. Owner easy to communicate with if needed. Property showing it’s age and some areas need a good clean.
• Lisa (9/5): A lovely well-equipped unit not too far from town. - The property was clean and tidy and was well equipped with kitchen and laundry facilities. The property was nicely furnished with good Wi-Fi access and air-conditioning. The unit is located in a nicely presented resort with a lovely pool area only a very short walk from the front door. The hosts were very easy to deal with and were very responsive to communications. We were there for 9 days and it would have been good to have more than 1 bath towel per person for that long a stay. We did have a pool towel each to use separately, and we used the washer and dryer to wash the towels regularly which made it ok.

• Niranjan (9/5): Comfortable stay with everything you need in a serviced apartment - Awesome place to stay. Accommodation had everything. Lot of space for a family of 4. Good pool on site. Bar/restaurant/coffee on site for purchase. It was like a home away from home. A little far away from the town centre to walk but if you had a vehicle, easy to get around to town.
• Andrew (9/5): An excellent stay, with very good communication with the owners. - Overall layout of the apartment, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Excellent pool available. Easy and very helpful communication with the owners. Some difficulty in obtaining keys from the lockbox. As we were a group of three with one of us attending a conference the possibility of a second set of keys would have been useful. However we obtained a set from the resort manager, which was very helpful.

Thought it was a bit rough and weird that toilet paper (and basic supplies eg. laundry powder) was only supplied for 1 day then supply your own which is tricky when only visiting for 6 days.

• Briggs (8/5): Great place to stay - We loved the pool and surrounds, very clean and tidy, not too far from town and the shuttle buses were excellent service and great wsy to get around. Wasn't much to dislike, found it comfortable, good value for money.
