Guest Reviews
- Elettra (10/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): Comeback defenitely required - Friendly staff - helped me a lot
- Olivier (7/5): - Super café le matin. Chambre un peu petite
- Federica (7/5): -
- jdeperry (9/5): Would stay again ! - I loved the little cafe entrance and hangout area morning and afternoon. I ve been very welcomed by the staff, all very friendly and helpful. I like to have my private room, it was simple and confortable :) Nothing really, like everywhere in Vietnam, it s a little noisy because of the street nearby.
- Guissela (8/5): Fair for the price - It is in a good location
The beds are ok.
The staff is nice and kind. Unfortunately the girls who were in that room made noise every night at midnight. I reckon one of them was for the long term at the hostel and every night was moving plastic bags ( maybe packed her belongings into it) but I had to tell them to let us sleep.
If you are looking for socialize it is not the hostel.

- Hoang Yen (8/5): - Its been many years since I last tried staying in a dormitory room . Not bad . For the first time in my travel life, I lost my keys & it happened in the most illogical way ever : I always leave my keys on the bedside table, after take a nap on afternoon, they were gone.( this happened on the second day I stay here )Can anyone explain why? Im 100% sure i lost keys in room . Who took them ? And why ?Becoz I didnt even lock the cabinet during my stay here . This not really about like or dislike, just wanna share to people.
- Shige-o7331 (9/5): - 静かで便利 特にない
- Kim (9/5): -
- Trung hieu (10/5): - Phục vu va sạch sẽ.
- Đức (8/5): -
- Güneş (9/5): Superb - It was close to airport and they are providing locked storage for luggage toothbrushes and towels. Nothing
- Gerry (7/5): Good -
- Philip (9/5): A comfy place at a slight premium. - The rooms were kept clean, the bathrooms were clean and functional, and the place had a water purifier to reduce plastic waste. The only complaint is that when I would sit on the first floor many people smoke right in the cafe/lobby. There are cheaper places, but if you want a nicer experience, it may be worth it.
- Skroz (9/5): Superb -
- Kerttu (10/5): Exceptional - Really good location!
- Alexander (5/5): just another average shabby SEA hostel - pro:
staff friedly though
in middle of city center (dont know if that should be considered as a pro thing at all, I would reccomend to avoid district 1 and go somewhere else, if your not planing to hang out in Bui Vien everyday...)
price ?! (actually I had better for half the price in VN, but yeah its in the city center so...) con:
fake reviews (like with pretty much everything in Vietnam, aways read the bad review first!!)
rooms to tiny for the amout of people
not enough bathroom
not realy clean
a lot of rude costumers who dont care about other people, staff does not set/force any rules
its constantly loud because of nearby club
at least one bed next to window fells like birds living next to your head
bed not comfortable
hostel sells worst SIM provider ever (better go to Viettel-store outside tourist area!)
- Hindrawati (7/5): Good -
- Carl (10/5): Easy and zero stress - Great location. Easy to get to all areas on my list for this trip.
- Timotiejus (1/5): Bad -
- Chanakant (8/5): Very good -
- Vy (7/5): Good -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - The hostel is clean and well run and you can sit in the cafe area and socialize, efficient laundry service available also,
The ticket offices and pick uo point for sleeper buses to many destinations is convieniently nearby on the same road near Mc Donalds.. lots of eating options around and a nice shady park to sit in and watch the world go by, No complaints!
- Yoo (9/5): Superb -
- Ddaedalus (8/5): Great place to stay on a budget - Great staff–so friendly and helpful. The location is very good, near the tourist center. It is affordable. The common area is like a cafe. Good internet. Storage lockers are conveniently located in the room, with an area for shoe storage also. A fridge to store your food. Beer for sale. Because it is located next to a market, it can be loud in the mornings, around 5:30 am. This isn't the hostel's fault, simply a note. The bathrooms outside of the bedroom (on each floor) could have more attention.
- Colin (7/5): Overall good - The cleaner came in the dorm very early and was banging about cleaning and tidying......
- Jong (10/5): clean -
- Bijan (1/5): Bad - Rude reception staff during my day checkin. No refrigrator to put my items there. I asked the staff to use my medicines in fridge in ground floor he replied angrily no fridge for you . Not even a glass for drinking. Dirty bathroms. Highly not recommended. High noise from the street and retailers.
- Lbee (9/5): Superb -
- Olzhas (10/5): Recommended place to stay - Saigon Style Hostel & Café is a great and safe place to stay.
Hostel is located centrally. Park, bus station, supermarkets, ATM, pharmacy, cafes, restaurants, market, massage salons, strip bars and Bui Vien party street was near the hostel, within 1-5 minutes of walking distance. It was very comfortable that there is a noisy fruit and food market in front of the hostel.
My 8-bed mixed dorm room was very clean, with bathroom and toilet. Clean bed with towel has been provided. Cleaning lady was cleaning the room every day and replacing used towel with clean and fresh one. There is a big locker in the room. Internet connection was on/off first days, but then stable rest of my stay.
Hostel team informed me about some repairing works and asked to move to other 6-bed dorm room after couple of days of staying in 8-bed mixed dorm room. Bathroom design of the 6 bed dorm room was unusual: Bathroom door can’t be opened fully as it hits a sink. Toilet paper holder was installed weirdly. ;0))) But everything was okay and possible to use.
Warning: There are a lot of stairs in the hostel. No lift/elevator. It will not be easy for travelers with huge bags or suitcase to walk up/down.
Overall, everything was perfect.
Hostel team was a great joy and asset.
Thank you very much. What made me sad:
1. Hostel doesn’t have kitchen for travelers where we could cook own food or even electric kettle to make own tea.
2. Bathroom door in my 8-bed mixed dorm room was so creaky and noisy each time when somebody opened it during day or night time.
3. Some men travelers sprayed entire bottle of their perfume on their bodies each time before going out. I had headache because of that perfume smell in the hot air. I don’t understand why people use perfume in a hot and humid tropical country.
4. A man in my 6-bed dorm room used toilet but never flushed it. It was uncomfortable to go to the bathroom when “nature called” and see somebody’s piss or poop in the toilet.
- Dwelch (10/5): Exceptional - 4 bed dorm: Fantastic location, very friendly helpful staff, good café, good prices, big locker.
- Marieke (7/5): Okay for a one-night stay - Considering the low price, you can't expect much. However, for a one-night stay, it was a good experience, though I wouldn't stay longer. The female dorm was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially when I arrived at midnight due to a delayed flight. They thoughtfully asked if I preferred a lower or upper bunk. The location was excellent, conveniently close to the main bus station with direct bus access to the airport. The WiFi connection was excellent. The bathroom in the female dorm was dirty, and I encountered a large cockroach. The shower hose was broken, adding to the inconvenience. The bed curtains in the female dorm were too short, allowing light to filter in whenever other guests left the lights on. The hostel lacks soundproofing, so all indoor and outdoor noises are easily heard. A large market in front of the hostel generates a lot of noise, making it unsuitable for light sleepers—something you might have noticed when checking the location beforehand. Additionally, there is no elevator, and the narrow stairs make it challenging to navigate with large suitcases.
- Sharon (3/5): Poor - There is a market downstairs, and there was noise all night I couldn't close my eyes. I was upstairs in a bunk bed and it was really close to the ceiling I got a hit on the head that made me dizzy, I arrived late from the flight and there was no hot water, the room and shower were not clean, there was a smell of mold, in the closets and in the room itself. I felt like I was in the street, I closed 2 doors and ran away after 1
- Elise (8/5): Very good - The bed was comfy but I was on the upper bed and it was too close to the "ceiling wall' The location is a little bit too far from the center
- Young (10/5): Good Location - The location is good for walking the downtown area and also for the bus system. I stayed here because I was catching a bus early in the morning. So this allowed me to walk to the bus quickly in the morning. Everything seemed good, overall, at the hostel.
- Rb (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rb (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colette (10/5): Exceptional - Location!! The guy at reception was very friendly, clean sheets, spacious lockers, great cafe setting to people watch The female dorm bathroom could be checked on a little more
- Antonio (6/5): Good - Location is near to everything and staff is nice It's loud at night since it's at the Main Street and close to a night club
- Jan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Natalie (5/5): Lack of support in emergency situations - good location, cheap rates, sheets are clean. you'd be very helpless here in case of an emergency, as was the case of someone who was injured staying in my 6-bed room. staff members are friendly but refused to help on multiple occasions, even though they were aware of the situation. they were injured and broke their phone, so they had trouble with mobility or contacting their family. they asked me to ask the front desk to help buy her some ibuprofen. front desk refused saying there would be nobody checking guests in/out if they walked away, despite there being at least two staff members at the property, or could've perhaps put a sign that says be back in a few. i believe guests are a bit more concerned about whether they'll be able to get any help in these situations than having to wait some ten fifteen minute.... considering roads accidents are not uncommon in the city....
- Grrretel (9/5): Comfortable and clean! - Great location and helpful staff! Very clean and comfortable beds! It was a little loud, but I think this is typical for this part of Saigon.
- Prakhar (9/5): Superb -
- Leila (9/5): Superb - The staff are hospitable, helpful and friendly to help you with any problems or questions (the tips on choosing a nearby bus were great!).
- Sanjeevan (8/5): Very good -
- Sanjeevan (8/5): Nice - Hostel is at good location
Staff is nice
Comfortable Bathroom has less space
- Briana (10/5): Welcoming staff, fantastic location and value - Charming, friendly and welcoming staff and owner. They took the time to suggest nearby points of interest and helped me book a half day tour. The hostel and cafe are new so in perfect condition and also in a perfect location. I slept in both the female 6 bed dorm and the mixed dorm on the 4th floor. I used the cafe to work in the evening. Great value for the price. Female 6 bed dorm is located on the first floor and the street market starts around 6am. Just bring earplugs.
- Riccardo (5/5): Noisy - The area in nice. The rooms windows are in front of the street and at 6-7AM is already very loud(there’s a market)
so forget about long sleeping.
- Petra (7/5): Good - Friendly staff, good location, clean room, nice café downstairs. If you are on strict budget, it could be an option. I booked a 6 bed room but got an 8 bed one. The room was still nice, but quite noisy - too close to the bar street and the thin windows don't prevent any noise at all. I heard the beats from the disco at night.
I was in a female dorm and in the morning found out, that some man was sleeping there - he came late at night, apparently he knew some vietnamese lady in my room, who opened the door for him. This should never happen. The same lady was also hiding the remotes from the AC, staff did nothing about that.
Not too social for travellers, many vietnamese staying there, probably because of the price. Generally I felt strange there, and next time I invested more money to stay in a different place.
- Minelli (7/5): you get what you pay for - nice staff, fast internet, close to lots of cafes, I asked to move to a different room after being put in a room with only men and the front desk person was super accommodating. the rooms upstairs are in much better condition and cleaner than the rooms downstairs. the place looks like it’s been open for 2 years, not 2 months. when I arrived I was put in a room on the first floor that looked very worn, the bathroom was gross and a guy in my room was very sick with a cough (so of course I got sick too). bring earplugs because the music from the bar street can be heard until around 4am
- Maysam (9/5): Superb - Comfy beds with privacy curtains. Free towels. Clean spacious bathroom. Ac. The curtain of the upper bunk is a bit short, missing it's goal to provide full privacy. They should communicate better the no shoe policy. Although they provide free candles some guests step into the room with their shoes. It gets dirty when they go further onto the wet floor of the bathroom.
No filtered water.
- Chiranjeevi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hallel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hero (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rhandy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ryo (9/5): Superb - The first floor is a cafe so I can bring some food and enjoy it with a coffee. One toilet and one bathroom for 8 people is not enough I think.
- Chiranjeevi (10/5): Exceptional - The thing that I liked most about this hostel is the location and the helpful staff who are always ready to serve us . The location of the hostel is very close to a walking street. Mr. Van is a very helpful staff member, who is very concerned about our needs at the property and makes sure about our stay being at the hostel. The beds are clean and comfortable! I strongly recommend this hostel!
- Mrsbr (9/5): Great value for money. - Great location! Hard beds, however very comfortable, the little curtains each bed has gives you great privacy eventough you ar sleeping in a dorm. Sizable lockers, my 65L backpack fitted easily in it. Shower was good enough. It has enough light and it is decently clean. Showerhead is not mounted firmly, there is warm water and the water pressure is decent.
- Singh (9/5): Superb -
- Oliver (8/5): Very good -
- Tran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geetika (8/5): Very good -
- Sediq (10/5): Exceptional - Very good location, clean, helpful staff, Van at the front desk is hard working and sweet 👦 guy. Rates are reasonable and facilities are fairly new . The owner is a lovely and nice lady 👩. Nothing

I highly recommend it!
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Coco (10/5): Exceptional - I recently traveled from Germany with friends to Vietnam and it was my first time here. Staying at this hostel was a great decision. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the hostel’s central location made it a perfect base for exploring the city. A highlight for me was chilling in the downstairs cafe, watching the hustle and bustle of the traditional market. It’s a great spot to get a taste of local life. Totally recommend this place if you're planning a trip.
- Alec (9/5): Superb - Good location, and very nice and quiet in the rooms. Very clean and well set up. The staff were amazing and so welcoming! Especially Veng - he went above and beyond to make sure guests were happy and comfortable. Great place. It's hard to think of anything to improve. But maybe one idea is having water bottle refill available. But otherwise everything was great. Thanks guys!
- Eldar (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were very attentive and helpful. Good location, price. Nothing. Everything was great.
- Reichlin (10/5): Very welcoming hostel with clean facilities! I can very much recommend it! - Very friendly and flexible staff!
