Dorms are okay, but free WiFi advertised is very misleading as all accommodation is too far away to connect in the first place.The restaurants food is good, however the service is ATROCIOUS, having to wait over an hour and a half for a bill to arrive, even after asking many times.At one point, at the 3rd time of asking, the server who we asked the bill for said okay, and sat on a swing and did f*** all.Also, viajero prides themselves as an eco friendly hostel, and on our first night, we watched employees brutally murder a snake using a combination of a log, and a belt, used as a whip.If I could sum it up in one word, it would be sh1t.
- 717kingu (10/5): Valentina Host - Valentina what a professional host!! She has made our time better. She always make sure that you are okay & having the best time you can. She speaks English & Spanish and knows how to reunites people together. She manages everything really well. For example, sometimes those games planned for the day at the hostel were taking too much time to get started. When she analyzed that she handled everything herself quick and easy. She has that "drive" and good energy in her that makes everybody comfortable. I have baptized her with a new name "Jefa" 😁 Tommy/Canada
- lorenzomP5922HA (10/5): Amazing place - Stayed at Viajero Tayrona and loved the eco-cabins, super comfy! Plenty of activities and plans available at the hostel, making it a great spot to meet new people. Perfect for a trip with friends, lots of fun to be had. Only downside is the restaurant service can be slow, so be patient. Overall, a great experience, would recommend!

- O1842IBdamianb (8/5): Nice venue - music goes on too late 2am - This hostel is nice. Cool pool and right on the beach. Lots of activities planned too. However…..the bar by the pool plays really REALLY loud music from about noon and as we stayed the Friday night in a dorm - banging music with some serious base until 2am! Yes two in morning! 🙄🙄. Couldn’t sleep. Wouldn’t have stayed here knowing this.
- E9301WBrobynm (2/5): Dont use their excursions desk - This review is about their EXCURSION DESK - PLEASE AVOID We got scammed into the excursion to the Desert. Four of us asked, before we paid or agreed to go if there would be vegetarian and vegan food available for us. They said yes, I asked them to confirm it with the tour operator and she said she did - This messed up massively and we went without proper food, the tour operators laughed at us when we asked for it as well - so rude and condescending. They said 'We can eat fruit' for 3 days - Who can survive on fruit for 3 days!?!? We also got split up as a group when we double checked if this would happen, the lady said we wouldn't be split up. Lots of things on the itinerary we was sent just didn't happen. We was looking forward tot he cultural part of the trip and it was a big reason why we went on the trip. Sadly the dancing, face paining and other cultural experiences simply didn't happen. We was also told we had an English-speaking guide. We did not - we wouldn't have gone on the trip if we knew we wouldn't be able to communicate properly with the tour guide. He done his best and so did we but with limited internet for google translate it was difficult. This could've been dangerous if we needed to know certain safety information as well. We contacted the lady from Viajero many times during the trip to try and sort it out. She kept shifting the blame to the tour agents and then to us. She had no accountability. Ive contacted Viajero hostel reception multiple times as well and they said the tour operator would be in contact - they have not. They shouldn't be selling this tour as they are mis-selling it. I wouldn't book anything with them ever again. Also, Viajero made me do a fake booking.com review to store my bags for free when i went to the national park by the way - don't trust their reviews at all!!!!!
- Savannah (8/5): - The property is huge with a restaurant and a pizza resto, bar, yoga, workspace and beach space. The staff are fairly organized but the cleaning staff are awesome and keep everything very clean, outdoor and in you room. The location is not near anything walkable and the walk from reception to the beach is a fairly long walk. Staff do not really introduce you to the property so it’s on your to figure it out yourself. Less of an organized hostel vibe then other Viajeros. You don’t really know who’s the volunteers are at the hostel. I’d go for the beach, get away from people and somewhat the vibes.
- Vacation01973879250 (8/5): Viajero tayrona - The room are clean, AC is working fine, a lot of outside space, nice big pool and dj music on friday/saturday. The staff is very helpful. Tayrona park a 20 minutes bus ride from the hostel. Very nice stay if you want to visit both tayrona park and than move to palomino.

All the workers were lovely and very helpful, but especially Miguel and Estrella in reception. Me and my friends did surfing on our last day and it was a great place to learn as a beginner.

I would suggest this place to anyone who enjoys living. If you want peace and quiet, this is not the place to go. This hotel is full of people enjoying life and having fun.

- McKenzie (6/5): - The hostel is very unique. It had a really cool design to it and we enjoyed the beach and the pool. Staff was very nice. However for the price, wifi connection was very slow and only available in certain areas. And in our room the bed was very hard and the bathroom was open to outside so we were finding way too many ants and spiders in our room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

- Verified traveler (6/5): False advertising of dorm rooms !! - The problem I had with this hostel is that they had false advertising on their website. I booked a females only dorm from the photos they advertised. When I arrived it was absolutely not that room. When I inquired the front desk told me they only have one of those and it was coed. She also agreed it’s all sabotage. The women’s only dorm is a very old and smelled like mildew. The bathroom looked like it wasn’t cleaned in days. The rest of the hostel was nice. Food was good. Nice bar area and options. Good cheap massage for 30$.

Son embargo el aseo en general deja mucho que desear, las camas estaban sucias y desatendidas, los baños y duchas sucias y durante todo el tiempo que estuve, si estado no cambió, eso es triste. A parte del aseo, todo fue grandioso.

The bartender at the pool/beach bar was unable to make a mojito. In general, excluding at the front desk, service was poor. The beach was dirty and unappealing.

- Michael (6/5): Hotel turned hostel - The owners have recently rebranded the place as a hostel, while maintaining the hotel-style rooms on site. The old hotel website (when it was called Hotel Merecumbe) made it appear like a luxury place. It is a good value place to stay if you are paying the hostel prices but very poor value if you are paying for the hotel rooms, as the facilities, including the food, are not up to the right standard, particularly at the hotel room prices.
- Alexander (10/5): Best hotel in Leticia. - Resort is beautiful. Those with high expectations, please keep in mind that Leticia is extremely remote, so comparing Viajero to a regular Dicameron all-inclusive isn't possible. The rooms are huge and beautiful. The grounds are superb and the people are wonderful. Highly recommend.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a great place! We would definitely go again! The staff is all very helpful and several are english speaking- which is a rare find in Colombia. The food was good. The beds are very comfortable and the atmosphere is enjoyable. Laundry service is available. It's a 15-20 minute taxi ride to Tayrona NPP entrance, so that was farther than we had thought it would be- but it was not a problem. We traveled in November which is the end of the rain season, so the nearby Buritaca River was dumping a lot of run-off and debris into the ocean, therefore, the beach was not swimmable while we were there due to all the extra mud and branches in the ocean. It is a lovely location and we enjoyed our stay!
- Simon (8/5): - Nice eco resort on the beach. Close to Tayrona and great staff. The hotel also serves as a Hostel and the vibe is definitely more of a hostel scene than a luxury resort. Food was great, drinks were tasty, but probably not the gourmet dining scene that the website makes it seem like. Rooms do not have AC, no pool, and while the property is on the beach you really can not swim in the ocean due to current and an incredible amount of debris in the water on the shore. Overall satisfied with our stay but I think for the price you can do better.

The service was espectacular, it has the vibe of a hostel with the accommodation of a quality hotel. Ideal to relax, chill, meet people and just enjoy the place. We really enjoyed the restaurant,good quality food ant reasonable prices.

Le seul bémol concerne à la nourriture, le petit déjeuner comme la carte proposée sont un peu décevant. Avec la quantité de fruits et de poisson de qualité à proximité il serait facile de faire simplement bon.

- Jeff (10/5): Amazing eco-retreat away from the Tayrona crowds. - This place is a beautifully appointed piece of paradise located on the beach just north of Tayrona National Park. The shared facitlities were very well maintained and the food was really good. The rooms themselves are a masterpiece. Really recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful retreat in the Colombian/Carribean hinterland. Make sure you take bug spray!
- Diego (8/5): Tranquilidad a un paso del Tayrona - Ecohotel a un paso del Tayrona. Ideal para hacer las excursiones al parque y también para desconectar. Alimentación muy buena aunque si estas una semana se puede hacer poco variada. Imprescindible repelente de mosquitos. Playas semivirgenes. Asustan las olas, pero una vez que las pasas se esta muy bien. No hay excesivas corrientes. Wifi en zonas comunes funciona bien. Personal muy atento.

- Fishcakes (10/5): Paradise found - We had a very enjoyable 4 night stay at the Merecumbe. Staff were welcoming, and accommodating when it came to small alterations to the menu. The ecohabs are lovely - tastefully designed and decorated with ceiling fans in the room that kept us cool enough, the outside shower is fantastic (even if cold water takes some getting use to but it's the Colombian way!). I really can't fault the hotel, but then for what you pay you should receive excellent service and facilities. There isn't a pool and the sea is too strong to swim in, but a nice 1km stroll along the beach brings you to Rio Buritica which you can swim in. I can't say we missed having a pool as I think it would impact on the natural serenity. Top tip get up at 5.30am for a beautiful sunrise on the beach.

- DIEGO (6/5): Demasiado ecológico - El hotel es bueno, pero no tiene las comodidades necesarias de un hotel moderno, para descansar es ideal, pero le hace falta una piscina, Tv en la habitación y aire acondicionado, se fue la energía eléctrica dos veces en la noche, los bohíos son bonitos, la cama cómoda, pienso que para la tarifa debería ser mejor.
- Winni (8/5): 5 Sterne - eher nicht - Das Hotel liegt fernab jedweder Infrastruktur, aber ganz idyllisch am Rande des Dschungels und am Strand. Allerdings ist das Meer nur bedingt zum Schwimmen geeignet (starke Stroemungen, Brandung). Die Hotelanlage ist hervorragend in die umliegende Vegetation integriert; die Bungalows stehen weit voneinander, man ist absolut ungestoert (es sei denn die Haehne fangen um 4 Uhr morgens an zu kraehen. Das Hotelmanagement hat wahrlich an alle Freizeitvergnuegungen gedacht: Fussball, Federball, Kartenspiele, Buecher etc. Aber zu einer 5 Sterne Anlagegehoert mindestens eine Aussenpool und eine Rezeption, beides Fehlanzeige. Auch dass die Zimmer ohne Warmwasser, Telefon, TV ausgestattet sind, zeugt nicht von 5 Sterne Ambiente. Und dafuer ist dann der Preis nicht gerechtfertigt!

Gusto exquisito en la decoración y totalmente integrado en la naturaleza.A mejorar, la gastronomía, muy repetitiva en cuanto a pescado y frutas y teniendo en cuenta que es full board y no hay opción de comer en otros sitios, cansa un poco. Las habitaciones no tienen agua caliente... y eso no se advierte en los datos del hotel, aunque hace calor, para mí sí fue una pega y algo que se debería advertir. Por lo que conversamos con ellos van a solucionarlo. La atención es amabilísima, aunque el servicio de cocina y restauración es extremadamente lento y no se aclaran mucho...
