Guest Reviews
- Catherine (10/5): Would stay again. Loved it. Wish we had longer! - Four of us were privileged to stay in this gorgeous, spacious, scenic home. We had double bedroom each and the lounge, kitchen/dining room and sunroom provided extra space. Great facilities, ensuite and bathroom with washing machine and dryer. The views were beautiful. Shops and wonderful Italian ‘Ottimo’ restaurant within walking distance. Twenty five minute walk to Salamanca. Excellent spot. Instructions for using the heating would have been handy. It was cold!
- tess (10/5): - everything
- kelli (7/5): Would stay in this area again - Location is great, amazing views parking is a bit of an issue due to lugging bags
- Zacharias (10/5): -
- Frances (8/5): - Amazing 180 degrees views. No heating in the lounge room.
- Mckendrick (4/5): Impressed but Not - Beautiful Spacious home, somewhat clean and tidy.
Beds comfy with heating blankets.
Bathrooms large
Views spectacular
Great home for summer use only Not a great spot for a winter visit, there wasno heat in any room but the kitchen/Dining room. It was very Cold and crafty
Poor Parking on side of narrow street
Not close enough to Hobart city centre, especially if you have children.
It never felt welcoming, there was no bathroom supplies, left over products
There was a viewing comfy room with a large mattress and pillows great spot to read and enjoy the views, but never used as it looked like someone had slept there and wasnt made up or welcoming.
There was no clean sponge ordinance cloth to clean up or clean counters just an old smelly sponge that was well used.

- Siu Ying Monica (8/5): - The house is amusing. If they can provide little rubbish bin inside each room would be peefect. Will definitely visit again.
- Kim (10/5): Fantastic location and luxurious comfortable house with amazing views - We are so surprised by how amazing the house was for the price. We were traveling with some visitors from overseas and every bedroom was so nice so everyone felt that they got the best room! I especially liked that it was made to feel like a home we could relax in without signs everywhere telling you what to do/not to do.
- Rehan (9/5): - Really beautiful house, very spacious, clean and well equipped kitchen. Location was good, with a beautiful view of the sea and surrounding hills. Had a great stay and would definitely recommend staying! Communication with host was very slow - they only sent check in instructions 20 mins before we were allowed to check in despite having asked first thing in the morning, which did cause some delays on our end as we didn't want to travel and arrive without having access to the property. Didn't respond to questions during the stay, but this wasn't a huge problem.
- Amy (9/5): -
- rebecca (9/5): Great location- spacious well equipped home with stunning views - Home was spacious and very comfortable with all appliances that you could want. The views were fabulous. The property was a comfortable walk into the cbd - our group chose to use a cab or uber for the return trip up the hill! Nothing - everything was great - maybe an outdoor table on the deck would be appreciated.
- Ben (9/5): - the parking was not available on arrival, there did seem to be parking nearby
- Rita (8/5): Good - Good view and good facilities Hilly and no designated car park. Challenge yo transfer luggages to o the house.
- Peter (10/5): - Great place, lovely view.
- jinfeng (10/5): -
- Kamalakkannan (9/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Access not easy, but we were warned
- Philip Grech (8/5): -
- Asuka (10/5): Gorgeous - The view from the house was amazing and the house is very big, clean and fabulous furnished. Nothing!!
- David (10/5): Hobart Hill House Exellence - Just like a home away from home, great facilities!
- Karen (10/5): -
- Laura (6/5): - - Great house! Left over washing in machine, commutation prior was poor. The house only has aircon/heaters in main room.
Under beds were dirty
- KHODARAHM (10/5): - The view was excellent, but it was hard to find the location. Har to find the address
- Reena (10/5): -
- Katrina (8/5): Amazing house! Poor communication! - Lovely house! Beautiful views Very poor communication!!! We left a treasured personal item in the house by accident and messaged the accommodation to see if they found it, they never even responded to our messages!!! Very disappointed!
- Susan (9/5): A beautiful home with a short walk to the city, although a climb back. - It is beautifully presented, well provided with all you would need for a comfortable stay and the view is stunning,
- Josephine (10/5): Yes we would stay again if the parking was better - Beautiful house and the views are awesome PARKING!!!! Nowhere to park!! Comments mention “tight parking” but fail to mention you’re on a 45° slope, on the street, competing for a park. If you leave the house between 8-5 you will not have anywhere to park when you come back. Workers use the area to park for a bus pick up and will park the entire length of the road during working hours.
- Nin (10/5): Perfect. - This house is incredibly beautiful. I think it is the best booking.com property I have ever stayed in. It's set on the hill overlooking the Hobart harbour, the views are just gorgeous and the house is so pretty and comfortable. I highly recommend it. I wish I lived there full time. There's only one minor thing that is a downside to this property (and it's also the upside too). It's on a hill so if you're walking it's a bit of a tough climb. BUT it is so worth it. The views over the harbour are really lovely and there's a little room with a very comfortable day bed with 180 degree views. We just loved this place so much.
- Cary (9/5): - The view, the house, the location Not that i like complaining but the dryer was not user friendly
- Daana (10/5): -
- Penny Mitchell (9/5): - The house was beautiful, well accommodating to families The cameras at the front and back entrance and the mirror out front looking up to the front door. Where I suspect the owner lived/stayed down stairs. Felt like we were being watched.
And no private parking. Having to park your car on the street on a steep hill.
- Melissa (9/5): - amazing views
- cuiyi (9/5): 装修不错的老房子,住的舒服。 - This property is in a great location. The balcony offers lovely views of both the ocean and the mountains, and there's even a dedicated loft space for enjoying the scenery. The house is beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. Though it's an older building, it's very well maintained and fully functional.
It includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a separate living room and dining area—perfect for a family trip. The amenities are very complete, everything from kitchenware and tableware to toiletries is provided. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely recommend it to friend. The parking space is on a slope, so you have to be very careful. The frying pan was burnt, making it difficult to fry steaks and eggs.
- Thảo (10/5): Đỉnh của chóp - Phòng sạch sẽ, đầy đủ tiện nghi, phong cảnh đẹp, dụng cụ nhà bếp đầy đủ K có chỗ nào chê
- Reece (9/5): Would stay again - Location and great views No heating in bedrooms, however it did have electric blankets
- Chen (9/5): -
- Simone (7/5): Liked the addition of the bus off buiscuits. Suited our purpose for a short one night stay , would not want to stay long - Comfy beds Cold no heating no parking
- Mark (7/5): -
- Shreya (9/5): -
- Heinrich (4/5): Disappointing, had to clean place before use. - Good view Dirty, took us 2 hours to clean all cutlery and drawers. Kettle rusted inside, oven, microwave and toaster dirty. Cobwebs on light shades and walls. Broken glass in bedroom on floor. Parking is a problem. Wet towels left in tumble dryer for guests to process. Place mats full of old food and needed to be washed. Kitchen doors broken. Outside bbq too dirty to use, misleading advertising as I wanted to use the bbq. Tumble dryer filters were extremely clogged up. Dirty bedding on bed in room next to kitchen.
- Amirul najhmie (1/5): -
- Lee (8/5): - Location and view unbeatable Lack of communication with owners
- Adrian eduardo (8/5): - Beautiful view It doesn’t have enough heaters, was too cold
- Julie (8/5): Lovely stay, lovely house - Great location, view, lots of room. Beautiful house. Great beds. It was very cold and the heater in the tv room didn’t work.
- Richard (9/5): A great place to stay near the centre of Hobart. - Spacious with exceptional views and great location close to city centre. Could not find any paper towel, chux cleaning cloth or tissues in kitchen
...or anywhere.
No heating working or available in the main lounge/ t.v. room.
- Chelsea (10/5): Excellent location and beautiful house - Huge place, great character and in the best location. Walking distance to everything in the CBD. Also the VIEW! Heater in the living room didn’t work but there was a smaller one we found that worked great!
- Driscoll (5/5): Passable - Beautiful view, clean spacious main house. Lounge heating didn't work causing the day bed room to be unusable due to the cold. The dryer didn't work. There is apartment downstairs with a noisy tenant, strong spells of cooking coming through the floor.
- Karen (8/5): Expected amazing..felt let down - Great views.
Great room sizes.
Big wide hall way.
Rooms are beautifully appointed with lovely linens and overall look.
Items left in pantry and fridge helping to start you off so I'd suggest checking before buying salt pepper sauces, washing powder etc. This was lovely touch.
I did love the house and for our needs 4x couples all big beds it was great but there were a few things that let it down from being great in my eyes. Surprisingly enough of all the places we stayed in Hobart and Tasmania this is the one I was looking forward to most but it was also the one I felt let me down the most. Right from the start I thought the comms were intermittent /poor.
The house sent me a message asking me for some information pre rental which I tried to submit and was not able to. I sent two messages through booking.com none of which were answered.
On arrival towels were all in the dryer. Not a big deal but I mention it.
We noted straight away that the whole frontage was off the log fire in the Dining room. There was no information about this but assumed that meant it wasn't in use.
There was an electric wall panel heater in the lounge. There where no instructions about this. We spent ages trying to to get this heater going, pulling down Google brochures etc.
On communication with the owners/ managers we where advised it doesn't go use the heat pumps.
This is a big house, part of its charm to me.. there are 2 heat pumps one in dining room which heats it great, to replace the log fire, and one in the hall facing towards the back door and one bedroom and the master room. This means 2 bedrooms, part of the hall and the lounge have no heat source.
There are electric blankets on the beds but the 2 bedrooms, lounge and half the hall were freeing. We closed the door to the lounge and didn't use that room at all. We all sat around in the evening on the dining room chairs
The day bed had not been made up and it was obvious that it had been used as there where some markings on the cover and crumbs and the blankets thrown into the corner. I assume missed in the change of occupants?
The oven language is in Chinese. We again tried googling and using translate on our phones to get it to work.... after we cleaned the oven tray of food from the last user but couldn't get it to go. I messaged the property asking for instructions, I'm still waiting 6 days later for a...
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jie (1/5): Bad - The location is good, the scenery is good The worst experience ever 😟😮💨
1.You can't use the garage of the house, but no one told you in advance.
2.The house requires entering the door and taking off shoes, but the kitchen floor is sticky
3.I was three and a half hours behind the allowable check-in, the washing machine was still washing things after arrival and showed that there was still one and a half hours left to finish, leaving me with not enough time to do the laundry that day.
4. There was a room that forgot to clean up, it was a mess.
But none of these are big problems, and I can stand them. The biggest problem is!!!!
When I called the landlord but no one answered, I asked the problems to the landlord by booking.com,
But the landlord did not dare to reply to me through the app, he/she sent me a private text with an incredibly arrogant attitude. He didn't feel like he had any problems, pushed all the problems on me, and his attitude was very bad.
I put the chat conversation and the question photos here.
- Khatiwada (8/5): It is very beautiful house to stay with large groups, walking distance to a amenities - Sightseeing Parking
- Chrisand (8/5): Great heating system in the bath room ! - Inconvenient for group .. transportation is a problem Stairs and some light were OUT of order .. out dated electric appliances .
- Harshad (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, it was a mesmerizing experience. Very beautiful house and view Everything was great, just a little trouble with parking but after the first night it was ok as well.
- Matthew (9/5): Lovely house and location - Location, style, amenities Parking but not much you can do about that
- Jan (8/5): R& R - Location We had a problem with oven. Suggest owners provide some instructions as it was giving off toxic fumes.
Noise from downstairs was annoying at times
- Bern (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning home. Very clean. Big rooms. Great city views. Excellent location to Hobart city. Staff very discreet. Highly recommend Having to leave.
Coffee plunger needed. Coffee capsules do not fit machine
- Karl (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (10/5): Absolutely perfect! Very spacious! - Beautiful historic home with everything you need! 10 minute walk into town (downhill) but an easy walk and ubered back home!
Best views I’ve experienced so well worth it. N/a

- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning views in a very comfortable, charming house
- Kirsten (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (8/5): House with a view - View and comfort road parking . No sugar, bath towel had holes in it.
- Ignesh (10/5): Great location and perfect property to stay for 2 families. Amazing views from the house. Would sure - Great location and perfect property to stay for 2 families. Amazing views from the house. Would surely recommend it. Car parking on street and Table/Chairs in balcony were in very bad shape.
- Rupesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Myriam (10/5): Wonderful stay, highlight of our trip - Charming, characterful and tasteful, excellent location with beautiful views, spacious, beautiful furniture. Access for bringing heavy suitcases in a bit difficult.
- Sandeep (10/5): Best Sunrise to witness - Property is clean and gives you good vibes.
View of city and water is beautiful in the morning.
Experienced best sunrise of life.
Highly recommended.
Parking is on the street which made me feel worried about my car. Street Parking
- Josh (10/5): Perfect spot for a Hobart stay. Would definitelybook again. - Wonderful historic house that is tastefully decorated and quite comfortable. The view is amazing from the deck which is where we spent most of our time. Really enjoyed it. Nothing
- Sarah (9/5): Overall a wonderful stay, beautiful home and couldn’t ask for a better location in Hobart. - Fabulous view, superb location! House was clean and comfortably fit our 7 guests. Just be aware, parking is on street and steep up to the property. Some utensils in the kitchen (non-stick fry pans & whisk) were well beyond their intended lifespan and need replacing.
- Victoria (7/5): Good - 1) when we reached, there was a full load of towels in the dryer & some laundry in the washing machine
2) no tissues packs
3) no litter bin
4) prefer a key holder for the house key
- Mike (8/5): Comfy house with superb views. - Hair-dryer wasn't working, no coffee pods for Nespresso machine and bedside light not working.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Great house! Great view! - Beautiful large house with great views over Hobart. Plenty of space for the family
- Alvin (10/5): Beautiful house; well equipped kitchen - great for families or groups -
- Cherie (9/5): Beautiful views, great house with everything you need. Parking with children would be an issue. - Parking. Would be easier if directions for parking were on the check in information
- Kim (8/5): Potential for 5 stars - View from the windows is stunning, the house is spacious, well-equipped and classically furnished. We had a lovely stay, and the kids particularly enjoyed lying in the day bed and looking at birds outside the window. This place has a big potential to be a 5 star property, however, it lacks some personal touch. As mentioned by previous reviews, laundry was still in washing machine, and storage cupboard was overflow with untidy linens with opened doors when arrived. Parking was on steep hill and some days no space to park out front.
- Pantiwa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (7/5): Good - The house was very spacious and had great views. The communication with the property manager was terrible. There is no response to any emails and the phone was not answered nor calls returned following messages.
- Linda (10/5): Hill House - Exceptional view, great heating, decor, facilities, roomy and comfortable Tricky parking
- Sheryl (8/5): A great place for family groups to stay but some maintenance and attention to detail needed - Big rooms for our family group
Comfortable beds
Coffee pod machine
Great outlook Inside front and back hall lights didn’t work
Household laundry left in dryer
Couldn’t get lounge heater to work
A number of Lights in ensuite didn’t work
Vase of dead flowers in the lounge
- Belinda (10/5): Loved it! Cute, convenient and charming! - Just as described the Hill House had charm and stunning views. Spacious rooms for our family. Loved everything about it. Maybe a little information on how to turn on the lounge room heater, would be my only suggestion.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sakthi (8/5): Very good -
- Kelly (9/5): Such a fantastic place - we will be back again - Amazing location , view and comfortable beds and amenities. Would recommend to anyone staying in this amazing city Nothing
- Jodie (4/5): Disappointing -
- Noni (8/5): We had a lovely visit and was impressed by the home. - Close to town. Beautiful home with many places to curl up and relax. Warm and comfortable. Parking was precarious on street. It is on a very steep incline which would make access difficult for someone with mobility issues.
- Shilpa (8/5): Fantastic views, comfortable accomodation. - Beautiful views, comfortable beds and bedding. The piano on the property was the highlight of our stay, albeit not in tune. Our stay was great.. only issue we had was unloading our luggage (lots of luggage and heavy) out of our car, as the house is on an incline. This was a difficult task- unloading and loading luggage. Additionally, this required to be carried up stairs to the house. Something to be mindful of.
- Shannon (8/5): Very good - Spacious home not far from CBD. Plenty of room for family. Excellent views. Off street parking would have been nice.
- Matt (8/5): Very good -
- Mun (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Beautiful Home on the Hill. - The house is beautiful. The bedrooms and bathrooms are massive. Very clean. The views from the dining room and balcony were stunning. Will stay there again. The access to the house from where the car was parked with all the luggage required some negotiating due to the steepness of the property. Hence it is named The Hill House. But once in, the beauty of home and the views are breathtaking.
- Bishal (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (4/5): Nice views , but didn't get the entire house , having to listen to the ownersdown stairs talking and - Views Being lied to and told that we had the whole house . Not finding out later that I have to share it with the owners.
Bbq hadn't been cleaned for a very long time along with the day bed
- Kathy (8/5): Love it - Nice location , high good view. Parking a bit hard on the hill especially at night
- Sudawan (9/5): Superb - The house is spacious ,good view and location. The day we stayed could see the southern lights from the house. parking is difficult , would be better if a picture instruction to find key box is provided.
- Anna (10/5): A great weekend in Hobart complimented by the lovely accommodation. We were sad to leave and would definitely recommend - The property was simply stunning. Great location with fantastic views of Hobart. The accomodation itself was well appointed, comfortable and extremely homely. The pictures on the site look good but ultimately still don’t do the actual place justice! We had 6 people in our party and we were all happy with our rooms. Nothing
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (8/5): Excellent property and managed very well. - Very clean with excellent quality house
