Guest Reviews
- İsmail (3/5): Only the receptionists were kind. But the hotel room was poorly maintained. - Only the staff were kind. Room is not clean, even on the fourth day they didn’t clean the bathroom, didn’t empty the trash in the bathroom also didn’t check the soap level ( last day we have to use the shower gel-its almost empty), they didn’t change the sheets and towels.
The worst hotel ever. The room was on the upper floor to the trashes early in the morning there is a big noise of the trash car and also very close to the bio market, there is noise of the food trucks. There is no air conditioner so if you open the window at night to cool down, you’ll wake up early in the morning with those big noises.

- David (8/5): Very good - Central location, perfect for visiting the town and walking around.
- Aruna (6/5): Pleasant -
- Leon (8/5): Very good -
- Amr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jocelyn (8/5): Very good - Great location and reasonable price
- Frank (1/5): Bad - My wide fell down very dangerous stairs next to the entry to be used when the reception is not staffed. This is a known issue and has not been addressed.
This caused extensive bruises and could have resulted in much more serious injury. The hotel manager apologized but did nothing to compensate us in any way for this very bad experience. For this reaon we can not recommend this hotel and will not stay there again.
- Katelyn (8/5): Very good -
- Christianne (7/5): Good stay - Central location, close to the christmas market and all amenities. A kettle could be useful in the room to make some tea/coffee.
- Okan (8/5): Very good -
- Heathcliff (7/5): Good value and central location, but some minor drawbacks - The hotel offers great value for money and is located in a very central spot. The room was spacious, with a slightly old-fashioned charm that I found appealing. The shower had excellent hot water, and the Wi-Fi was reliable throughout my stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating; when I noticed my towel hadn’t been replaced, I went to reception, and they quickly gave me two fresh ones. There are also some nice eateries conveniently located near the hotel, which added to the overall experience. While my stay was generally pleasant, there are a few areas for improvement. The reception is unmanned during certain hours, so guests must enter the building using a code at the side door, which may be inconvenient for some. When I checked in, the room was quite cold, and it took a while for the heating to warm up. It would be helpful if the hotel prepared the rooms in advance based on guests’ expected check-in times. Additionally, the hotel is located on a busy street with bars nearby, which makes it noisy at night. While I had no trouble sleeping, light sleepers might find this challenging.
- Tien (7/5): Good - The location is great. The staffs are quite friendly as well Cleanliness could be better
- Raedyman (9/5): Alfa Hotel Karlsruhe - The room was spacious and right in the center of town. there was a carpark building just opposite the hotel which was not expensive. The staff at the reception were very helpful. - The room had a key with a bulky key chain, which you have to keep with you even when going out.
- Since the room was in the center the weekend nights gets a little noisy. This was not a big issue for me.
- Kenneth (8/5): Very good - Nice big room and lots of space in bathroom too Noisy single bed
- Meltem (5/5): Sadly in need of renovation - The hotel is located centrally to go anywhere on foot is possible. The rooms are good sized and clean but everything is very very old and ugly. The place needs a MAJOR renovation! The breakfast is not bad and the garage is perfect! The recepcionist at day time is very nice… The noise from outside is fully inside the room: they have to change those ugly windows and get some sound insulation to avoid people screaming at the bar below. The rooms and beddings need a huge upheaval!… the recepcionist in the evening is not accomodating and quite rude! He is a liability for the hotel…
- James (6/5): Pleasant -
- Darren (5/5): ok - over night stay it was ok noise from club, soffa bed
- Teodora (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorenzo (9/5): Superb - Very friendly and kind staff, which was very fast to reply to customer care. Good rooms. Great position in Karlsruhe, and very decent pricing. Recommended all the way through! The bathroom was a bit small with weak lighting, but this is just a minor complaint.
- Tv (8/5): Very good -
- Tchabua (10/5): Exceptional - super location, helpful staff, clean hotel no A/C
- Mfundo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samuel (8/5): Very good -
- Nathalie (4/5): Disappointing - The hotel is in the city center.
We stayed 2 nights. In the summer it is really hot in the room, just like a sauna. When you open the windows you hear all the noise from the street. On Thursday and Friday the bar under the hotel are open all night. Al lot of talking and drinking people and on the of that music. Terrible! We stayed 2 nights. - Tianbai (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel (10/5): The front desk manager “Cornelius” is the nicest person. He is the key to a comfortable stay! Thankyou - Front desk attendant “Cornelius” was wonderful helping with all our requests. He deserves a raise and promotion! No AC
- Barry (9/5): Relaxing quite and clean, lovely! - The room was lovely, a good size and clean! the hotel itself is in a great location for restaurants, bars, shops etc.
The man at reception was lovely, couldn't have been more helpful! A fridge in the room would have been good for keeping cold drinks but really no complaints at all.
- Amanda (10/5): - Excellent hotel- the staff was amazing, kind and helpful. The only issue was that our WiFi didn’t work in room 106. The other part of our group had no issues in room 305.
I cannot stress enough how wonderful the staff was. So friendly and courteous
- Anne (3/5): Poor - Hotel is in a good location . Breakfast was awful.
Staff were non existent .
Access was only through a code which did not work ..
Lots of lots d music and crowds outside the hotel at night.
But it may be because there was a festival in Karlsrue
- Sergey (8/5): Very good - getting inside is a bit tricky
- Johannes (7/5): Good -
- Lucia (8/5): Very good - The hotel is in an excellent location, in the very center of the city. The rooms are neat and very clean. It's a bit tricky that the main door of the hotel closes after 21:00 so you have to use the side door with a code. After entering the code, the door is opened by turning the lock, which is a bit tricky to turn because it seems to spin in place.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- G (8/5): Very good -
- Dmitrijs (8/5): Very good -
- Ange (3/5): Poor - Location . Friendly staff Website misleading. Booked because of bar at hotel only to find there wasn't one. The bar was further down the road which was only open 3 nights per week, very disappointing. When we did visit the bar we were told they were closing in half an hour, this was on our last night. Not great at all. Breakfast room & food cold & way over priced. Bed was like sleeping on a piece of hardboard , shower head holder was broken & kept falling off. Found it a little dangerous having to put a code in the door to get in at night as it was located at the top of the stairs leading to the garage, anyone who was unsteady on there feet would have fell to the bottom with multiple breaks or leading to death. No cold drinks in reception as advertised. You've asked for photos of our stay but unfortunately you can't share a photo of something that wasn't there.
- Dmytro (8/5): Very good - Everything is clean and tidy, but not worth the money paid Entrance to the hotel building by a special code with great difficulty. I had to try 10-15 times to get the door to open. Sometimes it didn't work and I had to call my colleagues for help to open it from the inside
- Akshay (9/5): Superb - The wifi signal in the room was barely available on the day of check in, it just kept dropping, making it unfeasible to work. On the second day it was available however it was so so slow that it was impossible to work.
- Ashish (7/5): Good -
- Cosimo (4/5): Disappointing - There is no one at the reception outside a specific time. We arrived at the hotel at 13:30 but we had to wait outside until 16:00. Not acceptable. There must be someone available to call in such cases or for any problem during the stay.
Wifi is only available using via username and password that must be generated by a very old printer. Different credentials for each devise to be used. This procedure is annoying, especially if there is no one at reception to ask.
- Bosoris (7/5): You get what you paid for! - The hotel was perfectly situated in the center of where we wanted to be, and get around was easy from the station just 3 minutes away on foot. The single beds in the room were a little uncomfortable and squeeky ... they could atleast have include a kettle in the room for some coffee!
- Michaela (7/5): Good - perfect location in the city center, yet quiet
not the most modern equipment, but functional and clean
breakfast buffet is small, but sufficient
very nice staff
- Dijana (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (4/5): Because of the lack of aircon (and a fridge) l simply cannot recommend this hotel on a cost-benefit - N/A I was shocked to learn that the room came without air conditioning unless one accepts an oscillating fan a form of air conditioning. So you keep the window open for cross ventilation but then the noise from late night revellers keep you awake until the early hours.
I was unable to access the tricky hotspot wifi system and reception wasn’t able to help.
- Thomk (7/5): Great stay for people who love party zone - Hotel is located right in the city center. Great for people loving party. Loud noise from the street until 5 a.m. every day
- Ovidiu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hafiz (5/5): Passable -
- Andy (7/5): Great simple hotel if you want to be in the heart of Karlsruher - The hotel was in a great location close to bars, restaurants etc
Comfy bed The decor and furniture is a little but dated
- Sofia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andy (7/5): friendly staff. Clean rooms. - Good location. Reasonable. Nice staff Wi-Fi is terrible. Street was loud past 10 pm into the night. Antiquated door locks with keys.
- Kiran (7/5): Good - Location Internet can be connected only in one device though we pay for each person in the room
- Toni (7/5): Good -
- Boris (8/5): Very good - Location, very helpful receptionist. Reception is not open whole day, there is no breakfast during weekend, bed produce too much noise.
- Viktor (7/5): Good -
- Lesley (8/5): Karlsruhe & The Alfa Hotel, a great place to stay, will definitely return! - We had a late check-in and were unsure about how we were going to be able to get into the hotel. As we passed by the B17 Bar & Restaurant a young man & lady approached us and asked us if we were staying at The Alfa. They explained how to enter the building and said to come back to them if we had any problems. we struggled to use the code to unlock the door, but the young man went out of his way to let us into the building (think we would've been on the street all night had he not helped us out!)
The Alfa is situated in an excellent location, surrounded by lively bars and restaurants, catering to all age groups & tastes.
The hotel rooms are large, very clean, comfortable, and with good soundproofing windows!
We all said we would certainly visit again. Would be nice to have tea/coffee-making facilities in the room.
- Timo (8/5): Very good -
- Ahmad (5/5): Passable -
- Dmitrii (8/5): Very good - Great location, clean rooms, responsive staff. There is no fridge in the room.
- Bursac (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (9/5): Superb -
- Vlad (7/5): Good -
- Nikolay (8/5): Very good -
- Nchang (8/5): Very good - To be sincere, the receptionist there is wonderful.
- Maniraj (8/5): Very good - Location, value for money, supportive staff A lot of noise from the casinos around during midnight
- Jsan (7/5): Good -
- Hooman (8/5): Very good -
- Joanna (8/5): Very good -
- Nchang (8/5): Very good - I enjoyed my stay there. The reception was great indeed.
- Aline (10/5): Exceptional - very central in the city and close to most touristic activities. the hotel was very clean. if you would like to arrive a bit earlier you can use codes … but it was challenging and not only for us.
- William (8/5): It was fine and tye staff were helpful - No food served on premisses because of Covid restrictions.
- Ton (7/5): Good - Great location in the city centre, close to restaurants, cafes and shopping. Great location. It was loud during the night, as the cafes were closing late, and early morning the delivery trucks to the shops and cafes and the city cleaning came in. Our room looked out over the street, and therefore it was quite noisy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We had some trouble with the language barrier. Also, with all the road construction, we couldn't drive to the hotel.
- Prasanna1965 (8/5): Value for Money - This is a very good budget hotel to stay in heart of Karlsruhe. This small hotel is maintained neat & clean. Tiny arrangement for breakfast is made by the hotel. We preferred to have food outside this hotel because there are plenty of good restaurants located around this hotel. Wifi was good. Garage is available to park car at extra fee. Room was big enough to accommodate 3 persons. Overall, we had pleasant stay.
- Daniel (6/5): Good location and standard but noisy! - Nice small hotel in a good area for restaurants and nightlife. However, that also brought the late night noise, the nightclub next door played loud and youngsters on the street expressed their happiness for end of school. Or something. Glad I had earplugs with me! Besides that good standard of the room and well sorted breakfast. Location is great if you want to have walking distance to Karlsruhe town center.
- Darren (8/5): Football trip to Karlsruhe - Nice friendly welcoming hotel in the heart of Karlsruhe, reception very helpful and informative on arrival and departure
- Grillo_ParlanteITA (4/5): WIFi is useless. For the rest it is Ok. - Unfortunately, if you need the WiFi for working.. it can’t be used. Simply it doesn’t work.
It hangs, it disconnects, it is slow, it disconnects again.. no way to fetch some files from a server. The file transfer will never go through.
And I spent a night for that.. so.
Solution is to go somewhere else to use the WiFi… but it shouldn’t be like that.
Rooms are Ok. Clean and well dimensioned.
The stuff is friendly and nice.
The location is quite noisy at night, even with the well isolated windows.
The Hotel is nicely in downtown, this si a plus sign.
If you don’t care about the WiFi, consider the Hotel. But if you need to work.. it really makes your life miserable.
- Sarah (6/5): Great staff, good location, the bed was horrible - Overall, this hotel is fine. The staff was kind and helpful but the bed was incredibly hard. I awoke uncharacteristically early due to the inability to sleep another minute on the bed. For those who like a firm bed, this place could be for you.
- Felice (8/5): richtig Zentral - Hotel recht gut, Zimmer gross, sehr hellhörig, trotz geschlossenem Fenster konnten wir jeden der
draussen vorbeiging sehr gut hören, also etwas lärmig.
- lynntrick (8/5): Better than I expected - A comfortable, clean hotel, with quite a good breakfast. We chose to pay a little extra and have a three person room for two of us. This meant that we got a sofa as well as a desk, which we were glad of. Having read that noise is a problem, we asked for a room on the quiet side of the hotel - and that was definitely a good move. There was some noise on Saturday night - but nothing we couldn't cope with. The plus side is that the hotel is very central and well positioned.
- Mattias (10/5): Billigt och bra mitt i Karlsruhe - Billigt och bra mitt i Karlsruhe. Rent och fräscht. Lite lyhört. Bra personal.
- Ayse (10/5): Recommended - We have spent a nice week here. Overall it was all you expect from an hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms, a central location and a decent breakfast (in exchange of 10 Euros) and helpful receptionists.
- cleopatras175 (8/5): Very good - The hotel is comfortable and affordable. Importantl, it has private parking underground. Breakfast satisfactory, although my colleagues who came later have not found all the dishes. The hotel is well located, you can easily reach the castle of Karlsruhe.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Kai-Uwe (8/5): Nettes Hotel in lauter Umgebung - Tolles Hotel,
gutes Frühstück,
sauber, freundlich.
- Michael (8/5): - God service, meget centralt. Værelserne mangler dog aircondition.
- alexl499 (8/5): Ok for price and location - The hotel is a surprise even is old and you can see the difference with the new hotel stile, the rooms are nice the breakfast is enough to start the day. I suggest you to ask for room looking inside. In the nigth the noise from the street can make your nigth a nightmare.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very kind and helpfull stuff. - Lovely stuff. Great location. The decoration in the rooms need a fresh. Ergently.
- Martin, (8/5): Convenient Downtown Hotel - We stayed for the second time in March 2016 at Alfa Hotel. We keep choosing the hotel for it's convenient location in Downtown Karlsruhe. You can walk almost everywhere in the immediate center in less than ten minutes and most of the tram lines pass nearby. The hotel is very clean, the rooms have sufficient space, breakfast has a satisfying standard, the staff is very helpful and some speak some English. If you want to criticize something it would be the small bathrooms and eventually the hard beds as well as the tight parking spaces in the garage. The rooms to the street can be quite noisy during the night on weekends. We still will return for sure for our next stay in Karlsruhe.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - fine but no coffee maker as appear in website
