Guest Reviews
- Roberth (10/5): Great stay - I stayed here for one night on my way to Tilaran, and it was a great experience.
Heidy was an incredible host! From the moment I booked, she provided clear directions on how to get to Quesada from Puerto Viejo. When I arrived, she even had some travel essentials ready for me, which was a thoughtful gesture.
During my stay, she helped arrange a tour to the Río La Vieja Canyon, which was an amazing experience.
The house has a shared kitchen and bathroom, as there were other guests, but everything was well-maintained and kept clean.
The WiFi was strong, and I had no issues at all. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I truly appreciated Heidy’s hospitality! Would definitely recommend! -
- Geoff (3/5): Disappointed, in customer service , honesty , communication, Leadership - The property was within walking distance to grocery stores , restaurants, so it was ok I have been at this property before .. and stayed here and were no real issues that I had to deal with as the owner followed up with me when I had questions or needed towels toilet paper .. was ok
This past experience was very disappointing as there were some major issues that had come about during my stay as an international traveller
1) communication- as I first arrived to the property, I was unaware and the owner failed to mention to me that there would be construction going on .. even though it was only a few days .. she failed to mention it to me .. so the trust factor I was disappointed with …
2) Health and Safety concerns - during the construction process , which started at a very early time in the morning.. 7am .. noise was very loud , things were being thrown down from the roof in to the ground , ( aluminum siding an example) … owner didn’t check any of this ..
Now at the end of the day .. when workers were done .. they did not have any tarps , blankets nothing covering the debris, and the owner of the property never mentioned to the workers to cover it .. To me this isn’t responsibility, professionalism and taking care of your paid travellers..
To me it honestly looked like a scrap yard of debris in my opinion..
and to top it off throughout my whole stay , there has been old toilets , that haven’t been picked up and thrown away .. and this is in the so -called patio area ..
3) Cleanliness /Miscellaneous- after reading what the property is supposed to offer .. like
—Tour Desk ? and are sone other things that raise my eye brows about what they offer to the traveller because in my opinion I didn’t see some
Had to ask for towels
Daily Housekeeping?
As I left from my stay .. looking for property owner to say good bye , and she was not to be seen … and once again this is my review and what I experienced, and I feel I have this right to share this .. ..
- Jade (5/5): Not welcoming or pet friendly - It would have been good value for money. It was in a safe area. As a professional travel writer I feel I need to leave an honest review.
I booked three weeks at this 'pet friendly' guest house well in advance, and after 10 days of staying there, the owner told me that her housekeeper had 'developed' an allergy to dogs.
I was given two options: either pay $10 a day for the remainder of my stay (11 days) to have another cleaner come in to clean the hostel or find another accommodation. I took the full refund and chose to leave this accommodation as i felt completely unwelcome.
During my stay, there was construction going on, which started at 7 am for several days in a row, which upset other guests too. The hostel was always dirty, and I had to ask for extra sheets and towels, in fact when i arrived im sure the bedding was not fresh.
There were no outdoor areas to sit because of the materials left by the workers (huge hazard), and the overall atmosphere was very sour and unwelcoming.
After finding a last minute alternative accommodation, I soon found out that the same cleaner returned to clean my room and the rest of the hostel despite having a 'severe allergy' to dogs, which leaves me to assume this was a lie to get us to move out.
The hostel promoted that they were pet friendly but in actual fact I don't believe they ever had a dog stay there and were shocked that dogs actually shed hair, and cannot be left in the room 24/7. My dog is an assistance dog and needs to be with me whenever I go.
I am truly appalled by the lack of hospitality, understanding, or respect by the owners here, despite the meagre apology.
If you are seeking a stable place to stay and enjoy some downtime, do not stay here - and most certainly not if you have a pet.
- Geoff (10/5): Was a relaxing , environment and got everything done that had to be done in the area - Owner Heidy was professional, courteous, helpful and any questions I had I text her and always answered me .. whether it was about location of grocery store, bank , restaurants 👍👍 All was great
- Isabelle (4/5): Cockroaches - Very nice lady and equiped kitchen Cockroaches everywhere. They even got in my clothes. Expensive stay for what you get
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed stay here, Heidi very lovely and helpful, room is big and comfortable, kitchen useful, nearby bus stop and supermarket, very happy I had great time with Heidi. non
- Marc (9/5): Very friendly host, very good stay just outside city centre. -
- Jeffrey (10/5): the owner was extremely friendly and courteous. I’d suggest anyone stay here - it was very clean and well put together it didn’t have any signage and if the store clerk on the other side of the street didn’t know where it was I wouldn’t have been able to find it
