- Maeghan (10/5): -
Danke .
- Zimmermann (9/5): Wonderful stay and Ria, was exceptional. - Ria, the hotel manager was exceptional - definitely the best part and there were many great parts to this stay. Location was perfect, room was quaint and perfect - a bit small - but that is the era. The bathrooms were shared but otherwise fantastic. The breakfast was outstanding and my kids and I raved about the fresh croissants. I would go back in a heartbeat. Nothing really.
- Lynn (10/5): Fabulous and fun time in Barkerville! - So much fun to stay inside the gates at Barkerville! The breakfast was amazing! The host so helpful and pleasant! We highly recommend this little adventure! Nothing
- Christopher (10/5): We loved it! - We loved everything – our host Ria, the hotel, and Barkerville itself.
The hotel is incredibly beautiful and decorated in a charming period style. The room was an absolute highlight. Even though the house is quite old and you can hear some sounds, it was always peaceful, and everyone was considerate of each other. The charm of the historic building combined with the warmth of our host made the trip truly worthwhile. We are absolutely thrilled!

- Darlene (10/5): Quiet, comfortable, clean and welcoming. - Best croissants on this planet, very charming hostess, super clean, great bed, quiet all night. Everything was terrific.
- Fraser Douglas (10/5): Great choice to live the Barkerville experience. - Fantastic breakfast with GF options.
The hotel was central in the village.
Hosts were very helpful and friendly.
Rooms were quaint and comfortable. No issues
- Laraine (10/5): Delightful and loved the old Barkerville style. - It’s old style and delightful ambiance.
Pleasant company and friendly staff Nothing
- Callum (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (9/5): 2 nights in Barkerville - The opportunity to stay in a historic building within a famous gold-rush town was not to be missed. It did not disappoint. The staff were kind and helpful. The hotel is sympathetic to the period and comfortably furnished. Our room was perfect, clean with a comfortable bed. There was tea and coffee with biscuits available in the lounge throughout the day. Breakfast was great, there was plenty to eat. We had our evening meal in the House Hotel Saloon just across the way. Nothing to dislike.
- Heather (10/5): Loved it! Rhea and Liz were amazing. The breakfast was delicious, the accommodations were stellar! -
- Janet (9/5): Staying here added to the ambience of visiting an old gold
mining town! - Great location, quaint b and b. Period correct with staff in costumes. Lovely people. Breakfast was exceptional for a continental breakfast. Tea coffee and cookies available all day. We expected tiny rooms but it was nice to have the parlor to visit with other traveller's. Very clean and comfortable.
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Perfect Spot on Barkerville Site - The house was beautiful. The bed was SO comfortable. The balcony was a perfect place to sit and start my day and sit reading a book at night.
The breakfast was beyond my expectations. Yogurt, fruit cups, fresh fruit basket, meats and cheeses, jams and butters, hot hard boiled eggs, WARM croissants and other baked goods. Juices, coffee and tea topped it off.
The bed was super comfy. I was able to have my own bathroom to myself.
The wallpaper and photos were a perfect touch along with artifacts around the house.
I was able to find a book on the upstairs bookshelf written in the late 1800's, it was a perfect read for one night.
The lady of the house was SO amazing and was there when you needed her if you required anything. Responded quickly to messages and was just and incredible host, making the whole experience truly perfect.
Barkersville it's self was amazing and the staff just add to the charm. I will bring my family back next year and enjoy it all over with them.
Thank you to every single staff member seen and behind the scenes, you really make the whole experience memorable. ONLY complaint and it's not even a big deal. The bathroom shower head i used had a decent water void in the middle and made for an oddly awkward watering experience. It just hit your head funny and the water displayed weirdly.
- Terri (10/5): Wonderful - Fabulous breakfast, great location WiFi was sketchy
- Gillian (10/5): Amazing family vacation! - Loved everything about the property. The rooms were beautiful..we were so well taken care of. Amazing breakfast! It’s a beautiful area to explore.
- Ramon (9/5): Interesting old hotel. Gracious hosts. - Good breakfast. Euro continental.
- Cheryl (8/5): My mom and I appreciated the stay and experience of history. - The uniqueness, history. No elevator, (for physically challenged) bathrooms in units, but it was very cool to experience the era. The long walk to the hotel from the parking lot. Have something to transport people that are physically challenged that arrive later than normal hours.
- Marcus (10/5): Excellent host, and excellent location - Location- in the historic town
- Laurie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lancaster (10/5): Exceptional - We really liked everything about St George. Our hostess was wonderful ensuring everyone's needs were met nothing
- Stephanie (10/5): The hostess was absolutely lovely! - Fun to stay in Barkerville. It was quiet in the evening and you could really experience the town. The hotel is an original which makes it unique but you must be prepared for thin walls. Some guests can be thoughtless and loud. It is a reminder of the old days… so you need to be for prepared that. Most guests were lovely.
- Capwell (10/5): Our Barkerville experience was enhanced by our stay and hospitality received at the St George. - Our host / owner Rea was very accommodating throughout our stay. She made our Barkerville experience very enjoyable, from her initial warm greeting - later than we had originally planned - to providing us with a great breakfast., and providing an additional activity that was very much appreciated. Nothing to suggest... it was all good.
- Toni (10/5): Wonderful people, plac and experience - It was awesome. I have told everyone I know that they need to go visit Barkerville and stay here Was nothing. I disliked
- Davies (8/5): Quite enjoyable with informed staff about the local happenings. - Friendly and helpful staff. We had quite a small room with two twin beds. Would have liked a queen instead but wasn’t an option offered on the web-site.
- Maureen (9/5): Very hood - Everything was well done
- Mark (9/5): You get to go to sleep and wake up in this original gold rush hotel in a car free zone, but with the modern comforts of - This historic 19th c. Cariboo Gold Rush hotel is located on the main street in the middle of the historic Barkerville Provincial Historic Park. The park has about a hundred restored gold rush buildings, extensive interpretive programming, many restaurants and stores, a theatre, and costumed "players" to help with interpretation and entertainment. A generous continental breakfast was served. Everything was in keeping with the historic nature of the place - no complaints. Only two of the 7 rooms have private bathrooms. Cars must be parked outside the park gates, but carts are provided for the short walk up the historic main street to the hotel. All bedrooms are on the 2nd floor and no elevator is available.
- Joy (9/5): Great spot to stay right in historic Barkerville! - Lovely old historic property- really great continental breakfast with lots of choices/ room was comfortable and ours had a private bathroom.
Our hostess was incredibly helpful and friendly- there were always hot drinks and cookies and fruit available in the entrance foyer. Thin walls as it’s an old structure- sound carries very easily- could hear people chatting and singing in the shower next door.
- Sandra (10/5): Highly recommend for the full Barkerville experience - Delicious continental breakfast, lots to choose from, including home baking.
Wonderful to be right in Barkerville and soak up the ambiance. Room small, (they were in the “old days”) but very comfortable.
Rhea, the lady running the hotel, was very helpful about information about the surrounding area.
- Emilie (8/5): Very good -
- Dory (9/5): Time Capsule - The location and host were excellent. The authenticity of the period of which it is modeled was wonderful to experience. It was clean and breakfast was rich with a variety of breakfast choices. If you want to escape and slip into the wonder of this fantastic and historical time in canada. This is the place for you. You will be right in the middle of everything that is Barkerville. Your hosts are sure to help you feel comfortable and answer your needs. I have nothing to mention. It really was an excellent stay.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Brenda (9/5): Enjoyed every minute of it! - Great breakfasts every day
- Sharon (9/5): Our stay at the St George Hotel in the heart of Barkerville was a magical journey through time! - Loved the decor! Really put us back into the 1800s. Our host was warm and friendly and had great suggestions for things to do at the park. Our room was immaculate and comfy. Also the continental breakfast was amazing! So much to choose from! I can't think of anything I would change or didn't like.
- Crystal (10/5): It was a great experience staying in an authentic gold rush town - It’s location - very authentic
- Jennifer (10/5): My stay could not have been better. Being able to immerse myself in the community was magic. - Breakfast was highly varied, delicious and plentiful. The ambience was terrific and the lady of the house (staff) was fantastic. We were made to feel very welcome and I would return and also recommend the hotel to others.
The hotel is within the attraction of Barkerville and we were able to enjoy wandering around after the visitors had gone for the day. The long summer solstice gave us a wonderful opportunity to experience nature (fox, ground squirrels, birds, etc) as well as the fine museum quality attractions. Being a Victorian hotel, in every sense of the word, the walls are a bit thin between the rooms so I would not recommend honeymooners stay there. Not that they would not enjoy it, but guests in other rooms might be disturbed.
- Halyna (10/5): It was a great experience and adventure. -
- Carole (10/5): Staying at the St. George hotel in Barkerville is a wonderful experience for those who love history. - The is a wonderfully unique experience as you are literally sleeping in the museum. I felt like we should be dressed in period costumes. The rooms are cozy and comfortable and the bathrooms nicely updated., Rhea gave us a very warm welcome. Continental breakfast was lovely. Tea and coffee available all day in the parlour. The weather turned cold and wet and we weren’t as prepared as we could have been. The location is remote and high in the mountains.
- Marilyn (9/5): Superb -
- Hans (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was excellent. Big variety. Ria was the best hostess ever, i felt right at home. Too bad Judge Begby was cancelled. We hope the number of visitors will increase. The performance at the waterwheel used the word Bloody a bit too much, otherwise very good
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Natasha (10/5): Lovely, wonderful, amazing. - It was so cute and quaint. Felt like living in those times. It’s inconvenient to find food after hours.
- Gabriella (9/5): Great place to stay to get the full experience - Breakfast was lovely, staff was so sweet and kind. Beds were not comfortable, doubles need a topper or to be switched out
- William (10/5): Fantastic getaway - The balcony was very nice just to sit and people watch. The bug spray was an added touch that i did not expect. LOL Too many Mosquitoes
- Lorraine (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. - Atmosphere was wonderful. Very comfortable. Nothing
- Mike (1/5): The park was a good place to visit for the day but I would suggest staying in one of the towns - Was not ready when we left The whole experience was very inconvenient had to make a very long voyage with our luggage from the parking lot and were offered no assistance. Can’t get so much as a canned drink after 6 pm anywhere. The entertainment was only in the early afternoon and nothing else after that. Also had to share a bathroom anc no one was cleaning it between guests.
- Michael (10/5): We had enjoyed everything . - We liked everything,N Nothing to changeW
