• Ioannis (7/5): - Apartment is centrally located in the center of Cairo. It is close to many embassies and there is police presence in the area. Host was flexible and accepted that we could stay longer in the apartment after check out time which was much appreciated. There was a misunderstanding at the beginning where even we had booked the apartment for 5 people, we found 4 beds. The fifth would have been the sofa but it was not prepared at all and there were no bedsheets available. First night, we took our 12 year old to sleep with us in the double bed which was narrow for 3 people. Next day, after some follow up communication though WhatsApp, we got the bedsheets delivered and used the sofa for the remaining days. Apartment looks as on the pictures, but it shows signs of getting aged. It was nicely renovated and it is very modern and spacious. Apartment's entrance door is a security door and with code opening. You will get the code by WhatsApp. Some reparations now, could prevent the need for more extensive and expensive reparation in the future. The apartment itself looks fine but the whole building, the entrance and the elevator are from a different century. Most buildings in the area are like this, so be prepared. We didn't use the elevator as didn't look trustworthy. FYI, apartment is on the second floor. I would have also preferred more active contact from the host after the booking was done. Message on Booking.com was never answered. Till the day we were flying to Cairo i was not sure if the apartment was indeed reserved. It was reserved in the booking,com but communication happened only when we were at the departure airport that we got the code of the apartment, after i initiated communication. In general, all communication was triggered by myself. I would recommend to the host to communicate proactively with the guests and send all relevant information without having the guests ask for it. It would create a more secure feeling for the guests

• Vadim (9/5): Spacious renovated apartments in the center of Cairo - Spacious renovated apartments in the center of Cairo, comfy beds, online check-in via door lock with code. Here is a mosque nearby, so prayer in 5-6 am could wake you up. In my case even earplugs didn't help

• Angelica (7/5): - The apartment was in a great location of Cairo city easy to get a car to all the different main attractions. The apartment itself was a good size and the beds were comfy. The shower does have very low water pressure but it did the job.

• Derrick (10/5): Modern secure good location - Newly modernised in an apartment block about 100 years old (the lift is original) in what was then the elite part of Cairo. British and US embassies close by and near a modern Coptic church all with a heavy police presence 24/7. Secure door with electronic lock. Nice student style coffee shop and bookshop 1 minute walk (Falaka) with English and French speaking clientele, and close to Four Seasons and other five star hotels. V Good restaurant 5 mins walk (Taboula). Nearby corner shops “supermarkets”! Owner quickly replies to WhatsApp. Spacious main bedroom and en-suite shower. Good kitchen. Good internet. Uber pick up outside is easy - about 200 to the Grand museum and similar to the citadel. 15 mins walk to old museum. Any negatives are universal features of central Cairo. Bad pavements so you walk on the narrow roadway with cars parked both sides. Most buildings now showing their age externally and the area feels run down despite some renovated mansions - a general shabby respectability. Finding the building is not so easy - it’s on the corner of a five road junction opposite the bank which is next door to the Coptic church. The open and lock door controls on the inside of the black electric pad are at the very bottom and not easy to spot - I managed to lock myself in before discovering this !!!

Drivers have difficulty locating and booking.com pin is not the correct location. It’s frustrating when organising tours and drivers have to contact you because they cannot locate the pick up point.
• Marios (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful modern apartment. Big and comfortable. The apartment was clean and fully equipped . We enjoyed our stay!
• Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Considering the standards of Cairo and Egypt it was a very decent stay. The building was old and you need some time to get used to the different way of living, but the appartment was remodelled and we felt comfortable and safe. Two big bathrooms and spacious kitchen and living room were much appreciated. The area was quiet enough and safe to walk around. You get a feeling of real Cairo without the chaos of the centre and the constant noise from the streets.
• Len5742 (8/5): Very nice place (if you can find it), with a couple shortcomings. - I (alone) spent four nights there at the beginning of my Egypt trip, and another four at the end. Total of eight nights. The front, and entrance, of the apartment building is not at all attractive. There is an elevator, but I didn't use it. The unit is located on the second floor, or third floor if you're from the US. A door code (sent the day before you arrive) lets you in. The interior is quite nice, tastefully decorated. A/C works well. Lighing is very good. Kitchen has all the basic utensils. I never used it, but there is coffee I think, and sugar packets. No food condiments. Very large fridge and freezer. I used the washer multiple times on the 20 minute cycle, and it worked well. Owner ended up providing laundry powder after I wasn't sure what to buy. One huge bedroom and a smaller one with two beds. Hair dryer in the large bedroom. I used the smaller bedroom and the bed was comforatble. Shower/toilet/sink integrated with the larger bedroom, and also a standalone one. Plenty of hot water. There are various small markets in the area for things like cereal, milk, eggs, bread. I ubered to metro market to get meat. I like to walk, and this location made it easy to walk to at least some of the popular sights. (If you are an experienced navigator of the insanity of third world traffic, you can manage, otherwise, use uber.) Uber is extremely cheap. The host was quick to respond on whatsapp. There is a 'doorman' who may or may not be around, but the host can contact this person quickly if you need assistance. I guess can get groceries for you. He brought me the right laundry powder. Also, on my second visit, I arrived before check-in, so I left my bags with him, which he put in a locked room. 1) First off, note that the LOCATION OF THE APARTMENT ON BOTH THE BOOKING.COM MAP AND GOOGLE MAPS IS OFF BY SEVERAL BLOCKS. If you put the '14 gamal el din abou el mahassen' into google maps, it takes you to the wrong location. And the marker on the booking.com map is also in the wrong location, though at a DIFFERENT wrong location than google maps. Good grief. The actual building is on the southeast side of the intersection of Khaleel Agha and Gamal El Din Abu El Mahassen. Using '14 Khaleel Agha' in google.maps WILL take you to the right location. (It's just that there's no building entrance on that street side, it's on Gamal El Din.) I tried to raise an issue with the host who had no interest in correcting booking.com. I also raised the issue with booking.com directly and they tried to contact the host about this but got no response. The host will send you, near your arrival, a google map screenshot with a marker near, but not on, the correct building. And also sends a video taken from the Khaleel Agha side of the building, but not from the front where the doorway is. She did send me a picture of the front side when I requested it. Somehow, UBER's map did go to the right location if I put in the gamal el din address. Will credit the host for being responsive when I noticed that locations was not as indicated. She sent me enough info to finally figure out the exact location. I do wish this would be corrected in booking.com 2) My google FI phone plan could not get reception in front of the building. Make your uber reservation while on wi-fi (which worked quite well), then walk down to the street. 3) It's not as quiet as some have claimed. The building itself is quiet, I didn't notice my upstairs neighbors activity. But the honking horns do penetrate.
