- S. (9/5): We had a great time in Aruba. Having a car to explore the island and the beaches is the key. - It's an interesting setup. The apartment is on top of an office building overlooking the bay and is close to everything. The kitchen is well-appointed, and the view is fabulous. If you want to be in the center, this is the place. We watched the carnival passing by from the balcony and simply walked out the door to be in the crowds. The apartment is managed by a company and they did not know everything about the building. For example, they told us to just pull up to the gate, which opens. We arrived and the gate did not open. Parked in the street. We called them, and they said the gate was automatic. It was not. On the first day, we accidentally found a fob in the living room. We thought it was for emergencies, then realized it was for the gate. The apartment had some water stains on the walls and lights out, and we notified the management company, and to our amazement, they sent people immediately for repairs. Conversely, the beach equipment and umbrellas were rusted and broken, and we notified them to replace them and not to hold us liable. They said they would fix it, but they did not replace it. There was no instruction on where the beach equipment was. Found them by accident. The rooms are basic, and the wall art could be improved with some help. We had a great time in Aruba. Having a car to explore the island and the beaches is the key. Given the price of the apartment, one could save money by being in a less central location if one wants to go to the beaches in one's car. If you value your sleep, the noise from the carnival may be bothersome.
