Guest Reviews
- ESTRELLA (6/5): - The bedroom is spacious, clean and the beds are comfortable. The common bathroom is big as well and kept clean during our stay.
The location is nice, a bit out of the hectic centre but close enough to be able to walk to the old quarter, etc. The ground floor area is very abandoned and quite dirty. The kitchen is not very well kept and not very inviting. It's a pity cause the place could be much nicer, but it seems that it is not being properly taken care of.
With all, it's a nice option and comfortable for the pressure.

- francesca (10/5): - Very smooth communication with the owner!

- Akruti (7/5): Good -
- Douglas (8/5): Very good -
- Oleg (6/5): Relatively cheap but might be more comfy - Prima location just five minutes walk from Ho Chi Minh mausoleum in historical quarter. Plentyos historical buildingd around. The lake from which McCain wasfished out in 1965 in 100 meters distance. By the way, Vietnamese guides now do not recall USA as enemy... Hidden deep inside a labyrinth of overpopulated back yard. Impossible to find without owner's guidance.Request for. Staff speaks practially no English. Communication thru Google translate only. During three nights stay no offer to clean the room and change towels
- Ngô (10/5): My holiday to Viet Nam is really great and fantastic! - Morri is located deep in the alley so it is very quiet, the yellow color stands out and looks very Vietnamese, the owner seems to love ceramics so there are many ceramic vases on the first floor. The room has basic amenities that suit our needs. The location is very good so it is easy to walk around. Morri and her staff are both friendly. Finally, Homestay uses a password gate lock so it is convenient for late check-in guests like me. Will come back if I visit Hanoi again.
- Nguyen (9/5): Hanoi is great but the traffic is chaotic - Great, I found a lovely homestay.
- Friso (4/5): Nice vibe, but bad amenities. - Nice entrance and the host was friendly and helpful. Good location and easy checkin. We booked a room with a balcony, we didn't get one. We paid more than expected and immediately at arrival. The room was ok but there was mold on the walls. The toilet was broken and leaked, which caused a bad smell. The owner offered us a different room for the night but when we had to return to our original room the smell was still horrible. When we slept in the other room for that one night there was a lot of noise so we couldn't really sleep. The beds were also rocksolid.
- Anna (9/5): Superb - Nice and hidden in an alley, away from the busy streets. Walls are very thin and there is loud music in the neighbourhood, definitely recommend earplugs for a good night sleep!
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cordula (7/5): Good - perfect location to explore the city. quiet and safe homestay not exactly what was described on the webpage.
- Leah (10/5): Pleasant - Our host was very friendly and good at communicating. We had grapefruit and tea together which was nice. The guesthouse is very basic but that’s all we needed and it’s quiet as it’s set back down an alleyway off the busy street.
- Julie (5/5): A bit disappointed. - The area was really nice. Less busy and more authentic than the city centre. The place didn’t live up to the pictures. It really needs a renovation. Yellow marks on the walls and a bathroom where the shower is almost on top of the toilet. The people working there was kind but barely there.
- Nicola (7/5): Good -

The room was spotless and very well-organized, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, from the cozy bed to the modern bathroom. The homestay owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. It’s the perfect place to stay if you're looking for a quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped space in Hanoi. Highly recommended!
- Peter (7/5): Good - Good location, good when you have small budget. Staf was always ready to answer. Shower head was so old and it was impossible to wash your hair.
- Jk (2/5): Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. - Location good for tourists. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Dirty rooms, disgusting furnishing, noisy and tiny. Never met proprietor, but they need to up their game. Avoid.
- Sneha (6/5): Pleasant - Location is good Not worth the price
- Zsuzsanna (10/5): Recommended - Clean and quiet homestay. Good shower and lovely staff.
- Huu (10/5): I would stay there again next time I am in Ha Noi - Very nice place with a valuable price. The host and staff are exceptional friendly and very welcoming. The water pressure is a bit weak. It might be we stay on a higher floor.
- Phuong (10/5): Grate - the staffs are friendly and always about to help us
the homestay is located in a central place, where we can easily reach many famous sites
the house is vintage and deliciously cool
- Adnanemaaloum (10/5): GREAT HOMESTAY IN HANOI - It is quite place away from the crowded noisy old quarter, when you walk all day in a hectic place you wanted some place that is quite and small to relax and this place offers it,
Thuong managing the place, she is super nice, kind and lovely person, also hardworking, we had good conversations in late evening, this adds chilling value at the end of the day All great
- Patricia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Vi (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is really friendly and helpful. She suggested a lot of cool local restaurants and that make my trip more wonderful. Room is clean and smell quite good.
- Thibaud (9/5): Superb - The person working at the Homestay were very sympathic and welcoming.
- Đức (4/5): Disappointing -
- Erik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victor (9/5): Superb -

- Allen (5/5): Passable -
- Štěpán (1/5): Bad - Unfortunately, our experience with the room was bad - it was dirty, someones body hairs in the bathroom full of mold. The bed smelled terribly moldy. The balcony unusable - dirty without any chairs and facing wall. Nobody to check us in or out. Very overpriced for such level of “quality”. Can’t recommend.
- Erik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Egbe (7/5): Good - I like the fact that the homestay is located in a really good and quiet area. And the homestay itself feels like home to me😊 No microwave in the kitchen 😂😂😂 But it's okay. I still love the place 😊
- Mprrichardson (8/5): Very good - Nice staff but only reachable on phone as nobody ever at property
- Rose (7/5): Comfortable but a little dirty - I chose this place based on the location proximity to west lake/a little out of the mayhem of the old town, and the location was really good. Would recommend a visit to tranquil books and coffee around the corner!
The place is cute, there’s lots of art and paintings around the room and the yellow entrance-way is a lovely colour. There is a wardrobe in the room and it’s nice to put things away when you’re travelling.
We did have a lovely stay and slept very well in the comfortable bed. We never met the host, but they were responsive over WhatsApp and let me pay via PayPal.
I read other reviews beforehand and some things were right - the towels are small, and the location is not the pin on the map, you have to go down an alleyway. But I just messaged the host ahead of arrival and they sent me a video of how to get there which was very helpful.
And the bed was super comfy and not too hard at all, and I didn’t see any mould/damp
- maybe those reviews were from other rooms or maybe they’ve changed some things. The floor was dirty especially in and around the bathroom and we had to cover the bath mat with a towel because it was dirty. The bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a while, lots of water marks/limescale and lots of hairs on the floor that weren’t ours. There were also used tissues in the wardrobe. It’s an affordable place and I don’t expect it to be perfect. But if it was cleaned properly it would have made a huge difference - I hope they can change this!
Also we booked the ‘king room with balcony’, but when we got there the balcony was locked and the host said we weren’t allowed to open it because animals might get in. I understand this but it was disappointing and a misleading name - if you can’t open the balcony then it shouldn’t be advertised as a room with balcony.
Also to note, as far as I saw there is no social or common area and we didn’t meet anyone else staying there.
Hopefully they can change the cleanliness and the room description and then this place would be much improved!
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Satish (8/5): Very good - Without staff it's running parfectally smoth with cool anwarment . Nothing eles
- Kitamura (7/5): Good - she is kind person it was hard to find
- Sebastian (7/5): Good - The dorm was just spacious enough to fit the 6 bunk beds. Mattress was a bit too hard, but that's fine with me. The kitchen was available to use. The common area is the living room in front of the kitchen and the entrance to the property fitted with a small table and seats. The personnel were friendly and very helpful to show me on the map a few shops I needed to go to. The location of the hostel is very central, with a convenient variety of nearby restaurants and shops. Good value for the money. I would come back.
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb - It's a very nice hidden gem in a great location. It's down an alley so it's quiet, but leave the alley and there is so much to do. The room was nice and comfortable.
- Arshad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matteo (7/5): Old but central place in Hanoi - The place is in a good location, close to Ho Chi Minh mausoleum. Beds are decent, though quite hard.
You have free washing machine The buiding is very old and not maintained at all. The instructions to get there were wrong as well as the code to get in.
- Stephan (1/5): Bad - Unfortunately I have to give a bad rating because my room was actually not livable, a large part of the wall was moldy, red and black mold.
The location is good, as is the building itself, but this is irrelevant under the circumstances.
As others have already mentioned, Google Maps doesn't take you to your destination with the address.
- Grace (5/5): Good location but not worth it - Close to everything 1) super hard to find, google maps doesn’t bring you the right way. Thankfully some lovely locals showed us where to go
2) towels- super small & smelly
3) mould of walls- not shown in pictures
4) loud at night- music stopped at 11pm however neighbors stayed outside talking until 2am. Windows are so thin you can hear everything
5) no hot water when showering
I’m glad we only booked for one night. I would definitely not stay here again!
- Justin (8/5): A cozy homestay in a nice location -
- Anonymous (9/5): Please give this place a try, you won’t regret it. Also free laundry! - Perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a chill night or two in Hanoi. This place and the people I met there completely recharged me after staying in various hostels in the busy areas. One of the best experiences I had in Vietnam. I felt like Frodo in Rivendell.
Also very close to truc Bach lake which is the best spot to walk around during sunset. The only issue (that I never personally experienced myself) is that due to there not actually being any staff on site, communication is done via WhatsApp. Apparently there was a miscommunication and the lock code got changed without staff knowing so I had to let some people in at the front gate.
But they were equally helpful when I lost my room key and needed to stay late after check out. So no complaints.
- Karolina (8/5): Cozy inexpensive guest house in cute neighborhood - Cute guest house with cozy atmosphere! Very fair for the price & charismatic. The staff communicated very quickly over whatsapp and was very kind and accommodating, allowing us to deposit luggage while on a trip outside Hanoi. We also liked the location just south of the West Lake in a neighborhood that is less crazy than the old town but still only a short walk away from everything. There isn’t any staff present at the guest house, and the property could use a touch up & a bit more thorough cleaning.
- Ankita (1/5): Bad - Nothing to be honest, the pictures look pretty but the place isn't maintained at all. Everything was terrible, from service to amenities. Rods were broken in bathroom, no tissues provided, everything was ramshackle. For 2 guests 1 glass was provided. It was raining hard when we checked in, no one came out with an umbrella to help us get in. We got out under the same conditions too. Absolutely not recommended
- Hauke (9/5): Superb - Excellent location away from the overrated old quarter. Nicely next to Westlake. It's like moving in with your grandparents. You can slowly discover that this place is more like an art project than something like a hostel. Free washing machine ! Nothing
- Thùy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (10/5): Cozy place with a wonderful view - Very friendly and helpful staff, cozy and lovely place in a silent area, small kitchen downstairs with a teapot. Lovely rooftop with an amazing view, very quiet and nice. Good luck for your business and best wishes to an owner and staff! No complaints at all
- Mrmaxwise (9/5): Superb - Ac, room ,quiteness, location Wifi very spotty
- James (10/5): Our host went above and beyond. Extremely hard-working. - So helpful staff. We checked in late and our Grab food app didn't work so she went out to buy us dinner 😚🥹
Really nice old school style rooms.
Refillable water tap.
Interesting inner city courtyard. Towels were amusingly small but we've realised that's pretty standard here in Vietnam.
It was really difficult to find the place, it is not the correct pin on Booking map. We could have really done with some extra pictures of the alley way entrance to make it easier (just like they do with front gate key living instructions)
- Mrmaxwise (10/5): Best hostel in Hanoi if you want to rest. - Comfort- very cool and quiet sleeping quarters
Common zone - fridge, utensils. Even reverse osmosis water tap!
Bathroom - sunny - no mold! ( Rarity in vn)
Feels - cozy, quiet and comfy. For hanoi its a luxury
Location - actually quite good . Not the standard old quarter, but next to the lake and mausoleum . Easy to get anywhere in the city.
Host communication - perfect Nothing. Best hostel in Hanoi if you want to rest.
