Guest Reviews
- Eli (7/5): Good -
- Wei-jen (10/5): Exceptional - Really helpful staff and beautiful environment
- Karine (9/5): Calm stay. - The property is really amazing. Everything is super clean. The mattress in the dormitories isn’t firm in at all and there is no air conditionair, only a fan (that worked bc I was the only one in the room).
- Trevor (10/5): Exceptional - Great trails right from the hotel
Nice clean place
Ceiling fan is adequate for staying cool
Good staff Only the road noise
- Natasha (9/5): Great hostel with access by local bus to everywhere. - Beautiful jungle property, great pool to cool off in, heaps of showers and bathrooms. Bunks are uncomfortable.
- Brendan (10/5): A pool with a view to the jungle - We stayed in the big dormitory, very comfortable and clean. Lovely basic kitchen, good showers. Fans for ventilation in the room, pool is in a great location. Plus the staff are very helpful The kitchen needs a little more utensils, like knifes, plus maybe a little more space for eating
- James (10/5): Outstanding experience & amazing access to nature - The location and facilities were exceptional. Not a bad word to say
- Brayan (7/5): Decent Stay - Property The smell of the room
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were so helpful and friendly, they really went above and beyond to help!
The location is fantastic!
- Roxana (8/5): Basic but fine - Comfortable, basic rooms. Clean. I liked that they had trails and an on-site restaurant. Individual rooms were a bit small and basic, but serviceable. Could easily hear neighbors through the walls. Food was also basic but fine.
- Natalia (7/5): Ok stay for 2 nights to see the parks nearby - Big territory of the hotel, pool and air conditioning in the room. The hotel is a bit far from restaurants and beach, you need to drive to get anywhere (the road has no pavement for pedestrians and doesn't feel safe, even if it is only 10 min walk).
The restaurant at the hotel is not good! Food doesn't taste well, and it is incredibly expensive. 10 dollars for a toast with jam? There are hidden fees (tax, service fee) on top of the already expensive menu.
- Marc (7/5): Good - There is Iguanas all over the huge garde. I enjoyed watching them wile relaxing in the garden and pool area. Everything was very clean and the employees are super friendly. The rooms are quite small for the price, so I think you get better value for money deals but I had a good time there
- Ka (10/5): Pura Vida - This is an beautiful property with excellent staff I would absolutely recommend this to any travelers it is in a very nice location and you will not regret coming here Alben was amazing customer service flawless Nothing all was good
- Andrea (10/5): Great stay at Teva - Food and coffee at the restaurant was great. Our room was comfy, clean and had AC. We got to see monkeys and lizards on the hiking trails they have in the back. There was a staff member named Alan who was super sweet and welcoming and told us a lot of information about the local wildlife.
It isn't a super luxurious hotel but it was perfect for our three days in Manuel Antonio. We took taxis everywhere but there is a bus nearby.
- Anne-marie (8/5): A safe and beautiful way to stay in the jungle with modern conveniences - It’s pretty amazing to wake up to animals from the jungle. Very unique situation and location. Very relaxed staff. And on the main route into the center of town. The private rooms are quite small
- Samantha (9/5): Superb - Lovely place close to nature and not far from the city, shops and restaurants as well. The outside area is great, nice place to rest, read, just chill, and the pool is pretty cool, surrounded by trees and from there you may see diferent birds, even araras. The bar/restaurant is a plus, if you don’t wanna go out. Shared kitchen and bathrooms, very clean and always available. We had a great time, just suggest more hooks to hang stuffs in the room and maybe a place to open the suitcases (they are usually not clean to put in our beds).
And I also need to mention there was a Little misunderstanding about the guided tour we booked, it was said there would be water and fruits provided and we could stay longer in the park if we wanted and pick up a later transfer back to the City, but none of that happened because water was directly from the park fountains, no fruits and if you don’t come back with your guide and group you need to do it on your own. Just double check all informations.
- Paulina (8/5): Cool place for Manuel Antonio a bit too expensive though… also the restaurant is mega expensive - Very nice location with lots of vegetation around and cool showers The dorm rooms are super small and it’s hot inside
- Salomão (7/5): Good -
- Matthias_bauer (8/5): Very good - Very nice and helpful staff, except for the guy from the nightshift. The pool and the hiking ways were also great. Uncomfortable beds and the long way from the room to the toilets.
- Krista (8/5): Very good -
- Leo (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional - Loved Teva Hotel. Beautiful buildings, nice pool, good restaurant and bar. Right next to the rainforest, and the hotel has multiple hiking trails through the forest. Super easy to catch the frequent buses running between Manuel Antonio/the National Park and Quepos, which stop in both directions very close to Teva's driveway. The powerful ceiling fan keeps you cool while you sleep and easily drowns out traffic noise from the street below. Special shout-out to Allison, Angel, and Abigail for great service and good cheer. They really helped me have a great visit. Thank you!
- Katia (10/5): Exceptional - Very relaxing place
- Peter (4/5): Disappointing -
- Gregory (5/5): Passable - Location
- Dinah (9/5): Clean and functional - Plenty of showers and toilets, spotlessly clean. The pool was great. Easy and cheap bus to the beach. It would have been nice to have hooks to hang towels on in the room.
Apart from by the pool and some stone benches nowhere to sit outside
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Great staff, good restaurant/bar The kitchen was extremely limited
- Melissa (4/5): Disappointed, NO AC, False advertising. - The location. This hotel has no AC, the employees were not the great. Price was not worth the stay. Definitely do not recommend. This is a hostel not a HOTEL.
- Luis (6/5): Pleasant - Staff and location Matresses and pillows were very unconfortable
- Jodie (7/5): Good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (5/5): Low cost, great location, mediocre comfort but you get what you pay for - Cost of the stay, the pool, the bartending and front desk staff and the location were great. Pretty consistent issues with the plumbing required the hotel to turn off our water multiple times a day. We had to whatsapp the front desk at least five times to get the water turned back on so we could use the bathroom. We stayed in the nicest apartment they have and there was no comforter on the bed. We get that this is a lower cost option for the area but it was a bit ridiculous.
- Charlotte (10/5): So happy we found this place - I loved that you were surrounded by jungle at this hotel. Iguanas and monkeys all around you. Staff were really friendly and the food in the restaurant was great. Nothing
- Gem (5/5): Overpriced - Nice pool area with sunbeds Room was unclean. A small scorpion was on my bed. After dealing with that we surveyed under the bed and it was full of webs. Guy on reception was unhelpful and advised we didn't need to book the ferry, which resulted in it being sold out. Food and drink overpriced and stay overpriced. Not a good vibe
- Terry (8/5): Basic, expensive room - This was the cheapest private room I could find in Manuel Antonio. $70 for a small, sauna-like room without even a fan. The shared bathrooms are plentiful and clean. It’s in town and close to everything (if you have a car - you can’t walk on the narrow mountain road. The room has no airflow and is like a sauna. It’s strange that the restaurant is so fancy and expensive for a budget place
- Beatriz (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms were very clean, I love it had so much nature around, the pool area was nice and the hotel was quiet and relaxing. The only bad thing for me was the noise of the street. Teva is located on the side of the main road and my room was in the front so the sound of the cars and buses was really strong.
- Jan (8/5): Very good - Nice town, clean and organized.
Good happy hour from 4-6. Beds are only half comfortable, road noise from trucks and mopeds.
Breakfast is overpriced…
- Eleanor (9/5): Amazing Hostel!! - It was the perfect place to be during a stay until he area. It’s perfectly located between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, easily hopping on the bus! I’ve never stayed at a hostel/hotel like it, you have sloths in the trees whilst having breakfast and has an amazing pool to chill by! All the facilities were incredible and even better with hot water! The mattress in the 16 bed dorm room wasn’t too comfy with a dip in the middle.
I paid £18 per night for the hostel and had to make my own bed which is a first considering the price.
Getting to the bus stop you have to walk on the road (there is no pavement) so it does feel a bit dangerous when lorries or buses come by.
- Jose (8/5): Very good -
- Matthias (8/5): Beautiful accommodation - A god send compared to the nightmare hostel (Sleepers Sleep Cheaper) in Monteverde. Clean and well equipped kitchen, warm showers, friendly staff, strong wifi, and a beautiful pool area. A short 5/10 minute walk to the supermarket. Would recommend AC is installed in the dorms, I was lucky enough to have the dorm to myself for three nights but it was full on the last night and the temperature within the room was unbearable, even with the fan and windows open. The beds are also narrow.
- Olivia (8/5): Very good - Super friendly staff and beautiful accommodation in fab location The bunk beds are so close together that you’d have your head at the next persons feet literally half a metre apart if that 😂
- Imogen (7/5): Good -
- Angela (9/5): Peaceful hostel in the jungle - The hostel is amazing! It sits right at the edge of the forest. I meant to do the hikes from there but didnt have time. There is a pool and chairs to lounge on that are lovely. The entire property is super clean. Big props to the team cleaning there! There are tons of shared bathrooms and showers so you never wait. The wifi was fast enough for me to work too! There is a restaurant onsite that is delicious. The bus can pick you up for the beach or park nearby and take you into Quepos too. It is less than $1 and comes often. Walking on these streets is a no no the turns make it super hard for cars to see you. The front desk helped me arrange all my tours too. Gracias Alvin! They can even send your laundry to be cleaned. Only negative is no Air conditioning but really it is so cool at night that I didn't need it to sleep.
- Filippo (6/5): Merely decent, not great value for money - Good location in Manuel Antonio Very small room with little light. Facility is fairly run down and really not great value for money. We were assigned a room just next to the bar / restaurant area which was not great.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Andurina (8/5): Very good -
- Maya (7/5): Good - Great location and the stuff was really nice The room was really really small for four girls.
- Annabel (7/5): Good location to explore Manuel Antonio on a budge - Good location to explore Manuel Antonio
- Bowyer.k (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mann (8/5): Very good -
- Pip (6/5): Pleasant - Comfortable beds, lovely hotel, cool trail walks, close to town The walk to town was only 12mins but on a busy road with no path. The bus stop very close but again on the road to get to which was dangerous at night. They weren't serving breakfast which we weren't informed of pre arrival or at check in
- Arthur (7/5): Good location short bus ride from park - Spacious large dorm. Nice little swimming pool and the grounds had an area of jungle to walk around Restaurant was closed and no cold drinks for sale.
- Michal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lina (8/5): Very nice - Friendly staff. Some accomodations a bit small, but the hotel was able to put us in a bigger room.
- Rasheedgreen2003 (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was very attentive. Pool area could be improved. It doesn't look new or updated.
- Mateo (9/5): Superb -
- Blanca (8/5): Very good -
- Sai (4/5): Uncomfortable sleep but great views and terrific restaurant and bar. - The views of the jungle are stunning, and the property is full of wildlife. The pool area also offers amazing jungle views, making it a great spot to relax. The bathrooms were very clean and plentiful, so we never had to wait. The restaurant and bar were the highlight of the stay. The prices were affordable, the staff was incredibly kind and courteous, and the cocktails were amazing. The food was delicious, making the restaurant the best part of my experience. The rooms were a major letdown. They were small (around 80 sq. ft.), dark, and unbearably hot. We stayed in a 4-bed dorm where the small fan barely circulated any air, leading to a very uncomfortable and sweaty night. The beds were another issue; the mattresses were hard, and the bunk beds felt unstable—any movement would cause the whole structure to shake, making it very difficult to sleep. the kitchen was another disappointment. It lacked basic essentials, the stove was barely functional, and the whole kitchen area felt very rustic and outdated. With just two tables in the kitchen dining area, it was far from accommodating for such a large hostel. As for the location, it’s not the most convenient. There’s a bus stop about a 5-minute walk away to get to Manuel Antonio, but the walk is on a dangerous, hilly road with no sidewalks. Walking to nearby restaurants isn't really an option, as the area isn’t pedestrian-friendly at all. You can try to walk 15 minutes uphill to some restaurants, but it’s a challenging and risky walk.
- Marta (8/5): Very good - the place is really great. the location is amazing and the bus stop to quepos is super close. bathrooms and room super clean. best hot shower i did i costa rica. felt very safe for my whole stay there and wifi works good. the two girls from the reception were super kind and ready to help me, even when i had some troubles in town and call the reception for some help. i really enjoyed my stay here, highly recommend! the kitchen is well equipped but as no basic stuff (like salt, sugar, oil etc). i ask to the reception guy to help me booking a shared shuttle: he tried to hep me but seemed to be no more shared shuttles, so he proposed me other option like local bus and drove me with taxi (which were not an option for me). I ended up finding and booking a shared shuttle online by myself for the price i wanted to pay.
- Harshavardhan (7/5): Good - The amenities, such as the restaurant and bar, were fantastic with excellent service. The food was delicious, and the bar had a great selection of drinks, making for an enjoyable experience
The rooms were quite disappointing. They were very dark and lacked proper ventilation, making the stay a bit uncomfortable. If the rooms had better lighting and airflow, it would significantly improve the overall experience.
Regarding the hike, it was incredibly challenging, despite its short length ,be prepared for a tough trek.
Overall, it's a nice place, but with some adjustments to the rooms and a bit of a warning about the hike's difficulty, it could be even better.
- Carla (8/5): Very good - Very friendly personel! The structure is well integrated in the nature which is amazing, rooms are clean and comfortable No hairdryer in the bathroom which would be useful
- Alejandro (8/5): Very good -
- Ana (8/5): Great clean hotel with friendly staff - Nice layout. Pool and hiking trails were a plus. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Explained the bus and taxi system to my friend and I. Helped us navigate to Quepos and the national park. Made great recommendations on local areas to explore. Room and bathroom were very clean. Good coffee. Breakfast was decent. Went into the city to eat and explore other places for lunch and dinner so can‘t comment on those. Bus stop to go towards Manuel Antonio National Park is 0.9 miles away from hotel. Friend and I had to walk along the road with no sidewalk. Felt a little dangerous with all the cars speeding by. For safety at night, would recommend taxi or shuttle which the hotel staff can easily help you with.
- Ismail (10/5): One of my favourite places in Manuel Antonio! - Amazing space! Always love staying at Teva and will definitely be back. The pool area is so wonderful to relax in! Nothing!
- Issy (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely dorm rooms, with great facilities which were so clean! Nice kitchen space. We enjoyed the trails that were so close to the property and the lovely yoga studio in the forest.
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isabela (9/5): Superb -
- Corea (10/5): Exceptional - Great rooms, good music, and the trails inside the property are really nice. Also the food is really good and they have a lot of shuttles to move around inside or outside Quepos town.
- Luke (10/5): Amazing hotel, I highly recommend it. - Everything! Friendly and helpful staff, great pool and amazing food in the restaurant. The forest trails you can explore starting from the hotel are awesome too. Great value for money, I highly recommend anyone going through the area to stay here. Nothing, it was all great 😄
- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariam (5/5): Beautiful, very clean property but the bed was very uncomfortable, music way too loud (even at night) and the room super -
- Ana (8/5): Ok hotel - Nice pool and pool area, the hotel had trails around the property that you could walk. They showed us a baby sloth on a tree right at the hotel, amazing! The stuff was nice. The room had a fan and aircone and also mosquito protection on all the windows. A lot of iguanas all around, very nice. The location was nice surrounded by jungle, but it was 10 minutes walking from the closest restaurant, up the hill. Not convenient after the sunset, as there is no sidewalk and you need to walk on the road in the dark. The matress was horrible, so very soft it was impossible to sleep, my partner had back pain. The restaurant in the hotel was very expensive and they served maroccan food (??).
- Tatiana (8/5): Nice basic stay close to the national park - Lovely breakfast area
Good parking availability Bathroom and the room are very basic
Location is fairly far away from the national park; as I was by car I did not mind but perhaps a question for people traveling by public transport
- Sundance (7/5): Good - Very nice staff and grounds. The room I had with 2 beds did not have air conditioner as an option and was not informed when I booked my room. I saw air-conditioning units on the property so I didn't think that was going to be an issue. It was very hot in the room with no way to cool down without leaving the door open. Had to take a swim in the pool to cool down. With air-conditioning it would have been the perfect place.
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mete (8/5): Great value, good vibes. - Great vibes, pool, calisthenics area, staff. Our ceiling leaked. Not in a super bad way but it did. Staff were helpful but only thing we got was towels. Kitchen to cook was a bit limited. Not many plates and utensils.
- Manon (9/5): Perfect stay in Manuel Antonio - The room was very nice and the bathroom was big. The swimming pool is next to the jungle so if you are lucky you can see some animals. There are also some hiking trails through the jungle, some are a bit difficult. The restaurant is great for breakfast and dinner.
- Till (7/5): Good - The provided hiking trails of the accommodation are a nice thing to do early during sunset or after a Daytrip. You can see black/green frogs (April). The provided kitchen is greatly undersized and badly equipped considering the size of the accommodation.
- Kelsey (8/5): Very good - Bar food and drinks were very good. A lot of college students.
- Dh (7/5): Perfect place if you just need a place to stay while going out on your adventures. Helpful staff. - The room was no frills. minimal and pretty bare. For all intents and purposes, this place is a hostel with several 'full service rooms' with private bathrooms and air conditioning. If you just need a place to use as a base while you go out on your day trips, etc. then this is an excellent place to stay.
There are also several small trails behind the property (about 1 mile long). Surprisingly these were very technical trails and a lot of fun. In fact during eth wet season I am sure they are even better. Also had a good time observing the monkeys that live near the trails. (At least 1 howler and a troop of squirrel monkeys) Only two complaints. Our room was close to the restaurant/bar, so had to listen to loud music later than I would have liked, but in all fairness the music was usually before 10pm.
The kitchen facilities were also not the greatest. Shared refrigerator and microwave. Looked a bit less clean than I felt comfortable in.
- Aafreen (7/5): Staff is the best part. Facilities are what you pay for - Staff was great. Very nice Not clean rooms. We were only give a top sheet to shower. Got so many mosquito bites at night in the room.
- Kristina (8/5): Very good -
- Hilary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (7/5): Nice hostel, lovely staff but very hot rooms - The location is great. Easy access to Quepos & Manuel Antonio National Park. Towel provided which isn’t always the case at hostels. Shower gel too. Good but small kitchen so busy at peak times. Pool was great & saw lots of wildlife from the hostel. Lovely, helpful staff. I’m not usually too bothered by the heat but for some reason (building materials or that the rooms face the sun all day maybe) the rooms are like saunas at night. The ceiling fan does nothing to cool the room. In our 4 person dorm some people were so uncomfortable we slept with the door open. Noted by most guests.
- Walter (10/5): It's cool to have your own hiking trails! - Ideal for people traveling on budget, amazing pool, rooms is basic but totally fair for what you are paying. Bunch of shared facilities, super clean and Emily at Front Desk was really cool, friendly and helpful.
- Jason (9/5): Extremely enjoyable and relaxing! - Pool area is an excellent place to chill next to the bar where you can get lovely food. Monkeys, birds, iguanas visit all the time, very close to nature at the pool. Quiet at night, bar the odd loud motorbike. It’s just lacking some kitchen utensils, was always a queue to cook. Pans/ pots are very outdated. Only downside.
- Jessica (7/5): Decent for travellers - Nice outdoor space and pool, good restaurant and the overall price was good The hill in which the property is located on is rather steep which can’t be helped but maybe noted down. People kept throwing out our clearly labelled food and guests could not flush the toilet
- Ben (5/5): Great atmosphere & staff, but let down by communal facilities & beds. - Really good restaurant that served quality food at a reasonable price.
Customer service & staff were really helpful.
Had a small pool.
Whole area was deep-cleaned regularly & thoroughly.
Good atmosphere and games available.
Jungle (path) walk right out the back of the hotel.
Sociable hotel & good for meeting other travellers. Even got to see large iguanas walking through the premises. Disappointed with the room in that there wasn't any air-con or decent fans (we'd previously stayed in "lesser" establishments that provided these). Limited space in the room as well - deceptive from the photos they show.
Communal kitchen feels deliberately sub-standard so that you "have to" buy meals from their restaurant. Not enough utensils / cooking space / cleaning items / limited fridge space.
Yoga was on offer, but was cancelled without notice on the day.
Be aware that the hotel is half way up a steep hill, so getting to more vibrant places either side of the hotel can be quite a strenuous trek.
Beds weren't particularly comfortable.
- Sarah (8/5): Great pool and good price for Manuel Antonio - Lovely setting with the jungle behind Teva and a wonderful pool. Restaurant had great food at prices comparable to the area. Plenty of showers (hot) and toilets for the dorm areas. Dorm rooms could really use individual fans, I come from a very hot city and it was even too hot for me to sleep. More seating areas outside the restaurant would be good, there were a few tables scattered around but they were often all in use at night time.
- Marta (9/5): Superb -
- Zacharie (2/5): The change of management at Teva has obviously led to hiring staff who don’t know how to advise customers. - Well located, well maintained. We had the only room with a disfunctional fan which sounded like a broken motor. Was impossible to fall asleep
- Adriana (4/5): Disappointing - Staff was very nice No AC in The dorms and it was super hot I could sleep.
- Miriam (10/5): Nice place! - Friendly staff. Clean room. Nice pool area. Short hike behind the hostel. Good food and drinks in the restaurant.
- Valérie (8/5): Very good -
- Sam (3/5): Poor - The rooms and showers were clean but basic. The pictures and the name of the hostel are misleading. It makes out you are at a jungle reserve when in reality you are next to a busy main road. The reception bar plays bad loud music continuously, only stopping at 10. Rooms are incredibly basic, guests are asked to put on their own sheets. Confusion over deposit system creates a bad atmosphere.
- Melanie (8/5): Very good - The property backed on to the jungle and we were able to see heaps of wild animals. The pool was fantastic. The aircon in our room was great, as was the bathroom. The staff were friendly and accommodating and access to the shared kitchen was great. Happy hour at the bar was fabulous and the restaurant was good. The mattress on the bed was lumpy.
- Luis (7/5): Good - Location and Pool The location of Room 106, It is in front of the hotel restaurant, and there is no privacy at the entrance and exit of the room! And in addition to that because of the proximity there is noise until 10 pm and from 6 am....
- Stefanie (8/5): Very good - There were monkeys at the top of the house walking arround. It was great.
- Mais (5/5): Passable - The price and the restaurant were good Staff barely speak any English, some of them were even rude to answer question. The kitchen is not equipped.
The room floor was dirty despite the fact that they entered room and clean it.
The laundry service is expensive 7$ for kilo. And they only accept dollar cash. And once you give a bigger bill they will give you the rest in costa rican colonies with a rate that they decide, which I think is illegal to do.
We requested sheets from the staff over 3 times and we got the wrong one every time.
