Guest Reviews

- Laetitia (7/5): Very good resort for exclusive beach vacation but bathrooms could be improved - The Cape Santa Maria resort has the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. the location is really good and the staff working there is amazing.
The restaurant serves very good and fresh food. The bungalow are nice and have lot of space but with the price we pay the night (almost $400), they could make some renovations inside the rooms so they look a bit more updated
- Armando (9/5): Wonderful experience -

- Anthony (7/5): Great to visit but only for a day or two - The resort has access to some beautiful views, has great landscaping and layout, and is serene. The accommodations are quite a bit outdated and worn. The beds were comfortable. The unit we were in used a mini split HVAC which kept the room cool , but humid due to the fact that the doors and windows to the room were all louvered, hence not sealable. We were there the last week of February so it was livable. Also, the sand fleas are horrendous. I don't recommend being on the beach without pants and socks/shoes. The staff were mostly pleasant with a couple exceptions where they were indifferent, curt, or terse. The food was okay, 7/10. Overall, I would say that for the price, it was slightly overpriced.
- Maria Ines (8/5): - Cape Santa Maria is a true paradise - it's for sure one of the most beautiful beaches we have been on and the resort was quiet and secluded. We were upgraded to a villa and I must say, we absolutely loved our days there. The villa was huge (2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a huge kitchen and living room and a nice terrace fully protected by mosquito nets). It was completely equipped so we decided to go to the supermarket and make most of our meals there instead of the hotel restaurant. We rented a car one day and we explored the island, we loved how it was not crowded at all (we barely saw another tourist). Unfortunately, the staff was the worst of this hotel. Rude, unprepared, unbothered - we were often treated almost like idiots. But it seems to be a regular complaint in the reviews of this hotel and no one from management seems to be worried about this matter. The hotel has a wide variety of services and equipaments that guest can use but absolutely nothing was explained to us. The key to the villa was literally tossed from the counter and not a single word was said regarding activities and services we could use. I had booked a rental car by email prior to our arrival, but it was not considered even though several emails were exchanged regarding the topic. It's really a pity because with the right people, this hotel could be heaven on earth.

- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful spot. Lovely staff.
- Ugo (8/5): Beatiful location but staff has to be improved - The beach and the location The staff. The girls at the restaurant were rude and unpleasant.

- Alexandra (10/5): Amazing place to stay and recharge. Alone, in family or love - Everything. Amazing place to stay and recharge. Alone or in family or love
- Jere (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (3/5): Poor - Amazing location We stayed there about 15 years ago. I doubt anything was updated since then. The rooms are extremely basic which is fine however the dark cold lighting and the damp smelling linens made our night uncomfortable. We were booked for 2 nights and left after one. My wife was not feeling well and the uncomfortable room did not help things.
- Christopher (7/5): Good - Location, simplicity, quietness Staff service, cost for experience,
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - There should be more fogging as the No see ems were biting even at night when asleep I liked the beach and the boat captain mr smith
- Sam (9/5): One of the best beaches you will ever visit - Our villa was excellent, right on the beach, and had everything we needed. However, the main attraction is the beach, which was incredible. The staff are a mixed bag- some, such as Starlene, were brilliant, polite, friendly and helpful. However, service from some is probably in need of some work. For example, walking up to reception, or into the restaurant, you are stood waiting whilst they deliberately ignore you/ refuse to engage. Whilst it certainly didn't make a difference to the overall enjoyment to our stay, it definitely reduced the amount of time that we spent in the restaurant and, ultimately, meant we were spending money elsewhere.
- Cindy (9/5): We found our place! We will be coming back again and again to enjoy this little slice of heaven. - Cute beach cabanas just steps from the ocean. The staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful, they make you feel special and right at home. The grounds and the beach were impeccably clean, this is the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen! We’ve been to some gorgeous places: Fiji, Bora Bora, BVI’s, and all over the Caribbean, but this beats them all. The water is crystal clear and bright blue, the sand is powdery white. Heavenly! Nothing of any note. We would have loved an ice maker in the room.
- Konrad (9/5): Superb - The food was good. The peaple at hotel were very nice and friendly. The best waitress was Jesica:)
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kareen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Monica (9/5): My son and I enjoyed our stay. - Breakfast was.not that great. The food was mot seasoned. They had problems with their kitchen so food options were limited.
- Brian (9/5): Was fantastic. - Breakfasts were great. Servers were wonderful
Location was surperb, water wonderful Bugs were horrible. Everything else was very enjoyable
- Petra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Great hotel in great location. The beach is perfect. The staff are great. Would recommend to anyone who wants an idyllic - beautiful beach
great staff
tasty food nothing
- Wentz (9/5): we love staying at the Cape - location, location, location
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Very good menu Missing airpods from nightstand
- Anonymous (10/5): we had a wonderful time at Cale Santa Maria. we felt no need to leave the property and wouldn’t hesitate to make the tri - proximity to the beach and the kind staff. Bungalows were a buy run down (nothing terrible) and mattresses were old and stained (underneath the mattress covers)
- Lafazia (10/5): Most beautiful vacation yet! - Amazing views, spacious bungalow for our family of 5. We loved the activities that were available. The staff was top notch and we felt so welcome. The only thing I would have liked was a small microwave or toaster oven. There were a couple of times we had leftovers from meals and no way to reheat.
- Nelly (8/5): Very good -
- Arthur (9/5): Superb -
- Yokat (8/5): A nice low-key resort if you want just peace and quiet..... - We liked the location. Just the resort by itself, a terrific sandy beach, without any kind of garbage, all that beautiful turquoise water in front of us, the peace and quiet by 9pm, and did not mind the absence of a tv. The portions at dinner were more than generous. We ended up sharing a main dish most evenings and that still ended up being a significant amount of food, especially the pasta items.
- Monica (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (10/5): amazing - everything glorious
- Gianluca (5/5): A golden prison, good for cost no object holidays. Service very basic (not an issue) but expensive. - The site is amazing, one of the best beaches and seas ever. The staff, especially the native people, is wonderful: always trying to accomodate your needs and always willing to do something kind for you and your family.
But aside from the wonderful seashore, once you get there you're almost blocked and in the hands of the resort's managers - and they know it. You can move by bicycle should you want to ride a bit, but if you want to either eat somewhere else or make grocery shopping (in case you opted for the residence formula), you have to rent the resort's car at around 80 dollars per day. To eat there are 2 possible options: (1) if you have the residence formula, and hence a kitchen, you can buy the food at the supermarkets (there are few, with not so much choice), spending additional 80 dollars for the car each time you go there or (2) eat at the very expensive restaurant of the resort. If you don't want to eat "a la carte" (in four people you can easily spend 100$ or more for a so-and-so breakfast and 200$ or more for a lunch or a dinner). You can choose from two meal options, full (breakfast, lunch and dinner) or "modified" (breakfast and dinner) - the latter stills make a lot of money, especially if compared with what you get for that money, not considering the daily issues in getting some ingredients or food, so that it's almost impossible to get what you want from the menu. Plus there are some unavoidable extras that the managers of the resort are very good at shaping. All guests with whom I have spoken were disappointed and willing to leave if they could. It would be more transparent to propose a room+meal plan cost at reservation, or seriously downsizing the meals cost for the guests of the resort. To make it short, out of about 1500$ payed for the room, with the modified meal plan and few activities (pigs, fish trip and katamaran trial), at the end we spent more than 5500$. - No full transparency on costs.
- Being litterally blocked in that location with no other viable options for food.
- Had to pay for some "fancy" extras. About the trip to see the pigs, we've been told the cost was of 550$ for each boat (we were two families of 4 people). We got only one boat with a broken engine that was not working fine, so we had to reduce the journey: nonetheless we had to pay 830$ due to a different "formula" used for the calculation. Not fair, neither honest.
- Some food is always missing.
- Meal plan is crazy expensive, especially compared with what you get. A room+meal plan, with clear prices (including taxes) would be better. Reduced (for real) prices for the resort's guest would be appreciated.
- Meena (10/5): Exceptional -
