• Alexandre (10/5): Si j'ai à retourner à Tamarindo je choisirais cet hébergement. - Emplacement à moins de 5 minutes de la plage et d'une épicerie (Vindi). Lit très confortable dans un dortoir climatisé, personnel à l'écoute de nos besoins, piscine pour se rafraichir, grande cuisine très bien équipée.

• Yael (1/5): - Terrible staying. The bed was very small and extremely uncomfortable. The pool was filthy, with plastic bottles floating in it. The room was full of insects, including a huge cockroach and tons of ants - I had tons if them on my bed and pillow. The Wi-Fi was very poor and only worked occasionally. The bathroom floor was in very bad condition, which just added to the overall disgusting feeling. There was no water from the afternoon until night. Even if this was an area-wide issue, there were no basic solutions offered (like water containers to manually flush). Also, they probably have no backup water tanks as my friends that stayed in other nearby hostels mentioned they had water. I was supposed to stay for three nights but left after just one because it was unbearable. To make things worse, after checkout, while sitting in the shared area and quietly reading a book, the owner reached out to me and asked me to leave the hostel area as guests aren’t allowed to stay after 13:00 when doing check out. So be prepared that if you have a late shuttle you will be forced to wait in the street. Absolutely terrible experience. Avoid at all costs.

• huseyin (10/5): It was a total blast! - Everyone working at the hostel was great and so helpful. You have everything you need for cooking and eating. And we were so lucky during our stay that we met such great people from all over the world. Pura Vidaaaa!

• Elizabeth (9/5): - Great location, nice kitchen facilities, pool is such a bonus. They are strict about quiet time which is helpful to be able to get a good nights sleep. Definitely glad I stayed in the 4 person dorm though, a/c throughout the night and I'm always cold so they gave me a blanket. They were helpful with planning a shuttle to La Fortuna and also the surf lessons were great (cash only). I think only 4 bathrooms / showers so you might have to wait but generally I didn't have any issues. Also no lockers so bring a lock for your bag if you have lots of cash and valuables.

• Lindsay (9/5): Fabulous experience, wonderful staff, warm community atmosphere & great policies. - Amenities and activities on site were great, snooker, ping-pong, foosball, books and board games. Good prices for surf rentals and lessons. Location was great. We liked the strict quiet at 11pm (but lots of fun and enjoyment to be heard right until then). Staff were so lovely, and the property was well kept, lots of options for cooking and the pool was small but nice. Green trees from the windows, and blackout curtains in the private room. I was apprehensive to bring my 12 y/o to a “hostel” (my experience in Europe and Canada were more party-centric), but this was more of a warm community-driven place. Loved it and would stay here again and again. Our mattress wasn’t the best so if you have any physical ailments (like a bad back), might be best to check with staff first to make sure you get a bed that’s right for you. The A/C was great, but I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the beep, so I was waking up others when I needed to adjust it in the night.
• Marika (8/5): J'y retournerais sans hésiter! - Belle auberge jeunesse avec une petite piscine, un coin pour relaxer/jouer entre amis, et une grande cuisine très bien équipé. Le personnel est sympathique. L'ambiance est agréable. J'ai même prolongé mon séjour. Très bien placé, à moins de 5 min à pied de la plage et du "centre-ville" avec pleins de resto, magasin et petites épiceries mais dans une rue plutôt tranquille donc peu de bruit. Il y a un seul hamac, il serait cool d'en avoir plus. le coin public pour relaxer/jouer ainsi que la piscine sont fumeur donc il y a souvent des odeurs de tabac/cannabis.
• Owen (10/5): Casa pura vida is an excellent hostel in every category - I loved the location, the atmosphere, the pool, the beds, the rooms, the bathrooms, the common areas. Everything was clean. I felt very safe and comfortable Nothing could’ve prevented the AC from breaking, but the next night the room became a refrigerator and that was slightly uncomfortable but also not an intentional issue

The all ages was difficult, children crying all during the day, it was mostly 18-20 year olds besides the families with small children and not social or friendly. Then 9-11pm loud screaming karaoke. It didn’t have any the social aspect of hostels that I have experienced before. Very clicky.

• Brooke (10/5): - This was one of our favourite hostels we stayed at on our whole trip, it has everything you want in a hostel, great kitchen, great communal area, pool, great staff, hostel cat, etc. Amazing location just steps from the main town, yet you felt like you were hidden away… often seeing monkeys, iguanas, etc. Loved it!!!

• David (8/5): Great base for visiting Tamarindo - Very clean, very friendly, very helpful and great value for money in Tamarindo. A lot of people used the kitchen for cooking but it was extremely well managed. After hours security response was excellent. Main issue was that the air con in my room was too strong and cold. However that was probably my fault and I didn't ask for assistance. A brief guide to managing it would have been helpful. That or a blanket.

Meten a 10 personas en una sola habitación como si no trajeran nada de equipaje, el locker es demasiado pequeño y los barrotes de las escaleras del camarote son bastante dolorosos e incomodos para subir y bajar (cuando te toca dormir arriba en la litera).

• Geordie (9/5): True Pura Vida - Hosts, location, good vibes! Some cleanliness in kitchen (i felt comfy using the kitchen at all times), but that is to be expected in a hostel that serves youths.

• Ute (9/5): Klare Empfehlung für ein paar coole Tage in Tamarindo - Die Betten sind bequem, kleine Ablage und Strom. Leider keine Leselampe. Auch keine Vorhänge für etwas Privatsphäre. Locker sind vorhanden. Klimaanlage auf angenehme 25 Grad am Abend eingestellt. Die Duschen/ Toiletten sehr sauber. Keine Möglichkeit zum Abstellen von Kulturtasche, (dann halt der Clodeckel) der Pool ist toll, genügend Sitzmöglichkeiten. Großes Areal um Billard oder Kicker zu spielen. Küche sehr gut ausgestattet, Eiswürfelmaschine Kühlschränke etc. Kaffee oder Tee kostenlos. Personal sehr hilfsbereit. Die Preise im Ort sind teils sehr hoch.

Entendemos que pueda haber cierta presencia de bichos, pero encontramos hormigas y vimos algo entrar en un agujero creemos que una pequeña serpiente. Además, los restos de comida se deposita en una zona de habilitada a nivel del suelo, lo que atrae mapaches y dificulta salir de la habitación con tranquilidad. El precio resulta bastante elevado considerando las condiciones de humedad y la escasa protección frente a animales.
