Guest Reviews
- Helen (6/5): This was a really handy option at a reasonable price. Don't expect hotel cleanliness - Location excellent. Ease of keys great, nice park outside for kids if travelling with them. comms great, WiFi and tv streaming great.
Being able to sleep separately with sofa bed use, fab. Made use of sparkling clean fridge and kettle.
Good hot water, shower head would benefit from being adjustable. Good underfloor heating.
Convenience stores 5 mins walk great. No plug in kitchen sink. Had to use detached bath plug which was difficult fit.
Cleanliness in kitchen wasn't great. Some plug sockets had ground grime on top, had to wash cutlery b4 use. No mirror present in bathroom just screws where one once was.
I wasn't 100% sure the bedding was fresh. Didn't have that clean smell so slept with towel over pillow.
One of the windows on arrival was open and could not be shut, needs new handle i think.
Bathroom basics clean but skirting and bath edge grime.
- Alsatti (1/5): Never visiting London because of that bad experience - Location only Water leakage everywhere, not clean, owner doesn’t help you with water leakage problem he will leave you on your own. By the way water was leaking on electricity and floor rugs so it’s so unsafe. Smells bad rotten
- Johanna (4/5): Cheap but we will not return - The flat is cheaper than other options at this rather central area. The location is well connected to the city center by a tube line and buses. Also, there is a pub and restaurant street just 3 min walk away. Although the flat is comparably cheap it is still overpriced. It is in a social home house, neighbours are loud till late night or smell strong in the elevator, which both causes to not feel like on vacation. The flat is spacious but more than basic. The only good point was that for the cleaning fee they actually had cleaned. Still some pots were a bit dirty, windows extremely dirty and no washing liquid or sponge in the kitchen. The worst was the missing basic things like soap or a hook for the towels or something like a lamp or a bedside table. They saved on everything although we paid good money for the stay in a obviously not-to-rent social housing apartment. The balcony door was broken and did not at all close. It really did not feel like the money we still paid. It should have had more basic comfort and higher maintenance.
- Iván (5/5): The host's customer treatment compensates for other less comfortable experiences. - There is a basic role, so you can live there for a few days. The kilting is genius. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The bed is particularly uncomfortable and small. It lacks basic amenities such as a bedside table, reading lamp, comfortable armchair or sofa. It would be worthwhile to wash the outside of the windows from time to time.
- Mcgowan (4/5): I can’t imagine many people staying here more than once because of the mattress, the host was very nice and helpful, if - Great location, great price Couldn’t sleep in the bed as the mattress is very thin and of poor quality, slept on the very small sofa bed in the living room
- Jenny (1/5): Booked for 3 nights. Left after 1 night. No refund - Nothing
- Joanna (7/5): Good - Location. Size. Nice owner or manager No soap. Someone should clean it especially kitchen cabinets and( Old carpets). Problem with wifi
- Anonymu (7/5): Good - It is the best locati9n ever, decent appartement, would stay again.
- Sorina (9/5): Superb - The Host was very helpful with all our request .The apartment is very well located near a park and very close to Southwark tube . the kitchen is fully equipped, maybe only a coffee maker needs to be added. The bed in the bedroom is quite comfortable and you can sleep well on the couch, but you can hear the sound of the street A coffee machine will be useful
- Saliu (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (6/5): Good location and size and a relatively good price but the whole place needs an urgent refresh as it is tired. - Good location close to Southwark Underground Station. Comfortable bed. Fixtures and fittings of a poor standard. Bathroom needs refurbishing and bath mats were dirty/urine stained/damp. Curtains throughout too small, not fitting the windows. Whole place looks tired and in need of decoration. Bedding was stained.
- Elaine (6/5): Pleasant - Fantastic location. Close to everything from restaurants to transport links. Good host with speedy response to questions .
ideal for very short 1 or 2 night stay. Very basic apartment Limited furnishings (no bedside tables/lockers in bedroom, bare bulbs in kitchen and bedroom. not even one glass in kitchen for drinking. mugs and plates dirty and had to be rewashed to be able to use. bar stool broken. Lounge could do with more furnishings.
didnt use washing machine but nowhere to dry clothes if did need to use. clothes horse needed.
could be great if fully finished with more furnishings etc.
- Nattakrit.p (10/5): Exceptional - Very good property
- Jorge (8/5): Very good - Location, location, location, just a few minutes walk from the river tames. And steps from tube station NA
- Julia (8/5): Very good - Lovely location, clean and comfortable apartment, friendly and understanding host available by phone to help out. We had to call the host for the lockbox code when we arrived, which was a bit stressful.
Some bedsheets were missing, might be good to leave a few clean ones in the flat just in case. The host provided them the next day, so we were fine.
- Futoshi (7/5): Good - Easy to access Southwark underground station and bus stops. A lot of restaurants, bars and supermarkets are close to the apartment. When I checked-in, bath towels were put in the bath tab without being washed. I found one washed bath towel in the washing machine so I hung it in the bathroom to dry, and it helped me a lot.
- Olivier (9/5): Very nice accomodation, spacious, warm, we were 3 persons and that was really fine - Spacious acomodation, warm, very nice view. Super location, quiet. Host very reactive. Maybe a small table in the living room and more dishes.
- Radhakrishna (8/5): Very good - The location was very good.
- Adewale (9/5): Superb -
- Moore (6/5): Pleasant -
- Griffin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philippa (9/5): A comfortable convenient stay with everything you need for a great trip to London. - Nino was a great host who kept in contact making sure my older teenage son and I had everything we needed. The property is well situated-near the Southwark Station, close to small shops for groceries, and not far from the river and many attractions of London. It is an older property which has been freshly painted, carpeted and refitted, containing new appliances and roomy and light with views on three sides. It is situated on a higher floor and accessible by a lift (no carrying luggage up stairs! Yay!) The kitchen looks out towards a lovely green shared community park and we enjoyed seeing squirrels and people walking their dogs as we walked through to catch the tube. The neat and tidy flat was perfect for our needs and allowed us our own personal space-I took the bedroom and my son slept on the fold out sofa in the living area. I loved the big bath towels and plenty of cleaning products to use if needed, as well as tea bags etc. and also that it was very quiet for a city area. We mostly prepared breakfast and snacks in the flat and went out to eat dinner. Nearby is a pub with great Thai food and Nandos and other assorted restaurants around the corner. We easily walked to Shakespeare's Globe and also to the Old Vic Theatre to see performances and caught the tube to other shows. My son and I were very comfortable and would highly this recommend this accommodation for anyone planning a similar trip to London! Thanks Nino ! Everything was great but I would just suggest adding one of those wire folding clothes drying racks that could be used outside on the balcony for drying clothes after washing them. And aesthtically, to enhance presentation, a hardy green plant would be nice in the planter on the balcony wall !
- Pavel (9/5): Superb - Great location! Close to city center - many attractions are in walking distance! 300meters from Southwark metro station,Very good and professional communication with Nino - the landlord. The appartement is well equipped, clean, not noise from neighbours. We definitely recommend this for 3 people. Everything was good.
- Amy (2/5): Very poor - We made a reservation for a Spacious Room located in Helen Gladstone House from June 22nd to June 24th (2 nights). However, when we arrived, we were completely disappointed.
Dirty lobbies, lifts, windows, and ventilation fans were just some of the things that made the experience bad. The most concerning issue of the flat is that there is no air flow or ventilation within the apartment--it feels like we could not breathe. We could not stay there any longer and had to book another hotel immediately on the evening of June 22nd.
There is only one operable window in the living room with a small gap, and 2 operable windows in the bedroom, also with a small gap. These 3 small gaps are the only ventilation in the entire flat. The balcony door can't open. The ventilation fan in both the kitchen and washroom are out of order. We tried very hard to create air flow, but there was nothing we could do. The windows and ventilation fans were all out of order. How could it be an accommodation? The air in the flat is dead, making the heat unbearable, and we could not breathe inside the flat.
- Leicht (7/5): Good - the location was great. Right around the corner from the underground. The communication with the host was efficient and quick. Check in was easy. The shower was really frustrating, the hot water didn’t last long and would cut out. The elevator made us too nervous to use and we ended up taking the stairs (7 flights, yikes!) every time. There were no additional locks on the door which would have been nice to feel more secure. No additional blanket or pillow was provided for the third guest.
- Mary (6/5): Okay place, hot water turns off after 2 minute shower, otherwise it would be alright. - It is a block from Southwark tube station and a close walk to Waterloo station, so transportation was good. The couch was comfy and it had a washing machine in the kitchen. It does have a view of the London Eye which was nice at night. There's a playground on the property. It was quiet, no noise from neighbors just noise from the city streets. The apartment is a good size for central London standards. It had a few issues, otherwise I would have rated it higher, because if those get fixed, it would be fine. I was happy with the size of the place. The hot water stopped coming out of the shower after maybe 2 minutes. The hot water completely stopped coming out and only the cold came out. That sucked for showering. I had to turn off all the water and then sometimes when I turned the hot back on, it would come out again for a short time. The weather was 80+ degrees Fahrenheit and the living room/kitchen windows were locked with no air conditioning. The host said the window keys were ordered and would arrive a week after my stay which made it really hot in the living room area without being able to open the kitchen windows. I feel like that should have been handled before renting it out. I could open the balcony door, but the breeze doesn't come from that direction, I needed the kitchen window to open which had the breeze coming in. No screen on the balcony door so bugs came in, but with the heat we couldn't close the door regardless of bugs. The bedroom windows were open which cooled the bedroom down otherwise we would not have been able to sleep in the heat.
It wasn't very clean. The fridge had some leftover food in it. The trashcan was about 1/4 full of old trash. The bathroom mirror was completely filthy, I cleaned it myself.
- Mages73 (8/5): Nice Apt - The apt is very close to Southwark Station n there's a Tesco convenient store just around the corner. Very central, only 2 Station away to Westminster(Big Ben). The apt is very clean, neat and had all the necessary appliances. Carpet was very clean and new. The host was very responsive and accommodative. The lobby outside the apt looked worn off but the apt but inside was very good. The apt didn't have an iron board and did not have hooks to hang yr towel or clothes other than those inside the cupboard. No aircon but was cooling. Got a standing fan if needed.
