- Eadaoine (10/5): -
- Tracey (8/5): Celebrated a couple of milestone birthdays and stayed at The Ranch. Perfectly located to all the wineries and restaurant - We loved everything, well set out, great for our family get together The road into the property, needs a bit of attention, ok for 4WD vehicles.
- Amy (5/5): House is okay, little run down and not very well maintained but was able to accommodate everyone. - Location. Nice big house to accommodate everyone The roads leading to the house is very poor and hard to access due to lots of divots and holes
- Mitchell (10/5): We loved our stay and will surely be back again. - Great location for our planned activities and plenty of space for our family. Loved that we were a bit further out so the kids could have fun without us having to worry about noise.
It was our second time staying here and it was even better the second time around!
- Shahar (10/5): - The property was stunning and perfectly suited our trip. The BBQ wasn’t the best and so we couldn’t use it, but other than that I would highly recommend this accomodation.
- Shaleen (10/5): -
- Kate (10/5): Overall great accommodation in a beautiful setting. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - Great location and large, comfortable and very well equipped accommodation. Loved the kangaroos in the garden. Only thing that would have made our stay better would have been a better BBQ

- Gary (10/5): A great place the we would stay at again. - Clean and spacious Not much
- Deb (9/5): Very good location and large house readily fits big family but road in bit rough - Liked the spaciousness n multiple bathrooms . Lovely indoor seated area and outside areas to sit . Dog friendly and just very communicative and helpful. Clean n tidy and nice linen n furnishings . Lots air con n fans in rooms Road in pretty rough for non 4wd cars and fridge in kitchen not very big for size of house and number of people hosted . Dog fence bit lifted and worrying in places for small dogs . Outside screen door didn’t lock to keep dogs in outdoor area
- Toni (8/5): A perfect facility and lication for a group of friends spending a weekend in the Hunter Valley. - Loads of space, well equipped and good value for money. A bit Barron around the house and access road a bit rough but no big deal.
- Libby (10/5): - Nestled into the country side while also being so central to the hunter valley region
- Alison (10/5): A home away from home. - Plenty of room for a large group, kitchen well equipped, plenty of bathrooms, fenced back yard, bedrooms lovely, grey dining area for a large group. We will be back
So much better than we expected. Nothing really , suggest bring an esky for drinks as fridge quite small.
- Wei (8/5): Hunter valley - Stayed with whole family to attend a wedding Gets really cold in the house
- Michelle (10/5): Had an awesome weekend surrounded by nature—kangaroos on the front paddock, beautiful scenery, and peaceful surroundings - The property was amazing—peaceful, beautifully located, and conveniently close to wineries and local facilities. - Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Vicky (9/5): Superb - The house was large and well designed. Great for a large family or a group of friends. Large yard for kids and dogs to play. The property was a little cold, even with the main aircon set at 25 degrees, maybe needs to be serviced
- Jamie (9/5): Superb - Big spacious house. Great secluded spot.
- Deb (9/5): A fantastic family get together for my 65th birthday ❤️ - So spacious with plenty of room for the family to enjoy! Loved the fire pit 💕and the Mountain View was spectacular! Nothing
- Kerrin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kylee (7/5): Good - Beautiful spacious property. Lots of space for the whole family. Lawns, gardens and backyard needed upkeep in order to use,
- Cecelia (7/5): A great home for a large family or a group! Private, spacious and close to wineries. - The open space, the big long table for the family , well provided kitchen and bathroom essentials, games for kids
Lots of kangaroos One of the beds was not cleaned. It had hair and stained bedsheets. No reply from the host when we messaged.
The floor needs a GOOD CLEAN!!
- Wendy (3/5): So disappointing that the house was not available to use in the first night afternoon - The guest house was left in a terrible state from the last guests with bins over flowing with rubbish the floor was unbearable to walk on, no toilet paper. The Cleaner left late that evening so we spent the first night outside so the house could be cleaned. This was very embarrassing to myself as I was the host. The place had not been serviced and we had no toilet paper for 10 guests nor a bin to use outside to remove rubbish.
- Shannan (7/5): Great house. Awesome location. Dirty facilities. - The house is amazing and in a great location. The beds are super comfy. The floors were so dirty that the soles of your feet were black from walking around in the house. There were not enough towels and the grass was at least knee high around the property. For 600 dollars a night the grass could at least be mowed.
- John (6/5): Not bad but not the best - The house was a very good size and accommodated for our large group of 10 people The fridge was very dirty, sticky and smelly! The outside areas all around the house was overgrown and no TLC seems to have been given for a long time! There was holes in the outside roof, torn fly screens, many of the lights inside didn’t turn on or work. Staff were not great, I never received any email instructions on how to get to the property (it is very hidden with lots of signs saying closed and stop signs saying turn around don’t enter). The “road” to the property is horrible, lucky we had an SUV, would 100% recommend to make sure you have a SUV to get to the house! I had to call and message the staff with no response for a while before I finally received a text picture of how to open the door to the property, no other questions were answered when asked. Horrible customer service.
It is such a shame as the house itself is charming and in a really good location, if owners gave it more TLC inside and out and actually provided great customer service I would 100% recommend this.
- Danielle (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (7/5): Nice big place with comfy beds and heaps of room for everyone we enjoyed our stay few things are broken and maintenance - Big place too suit the extended family bedrooms and bathrooms very nice and clean
Kitchen was nice and clean Tiled floors were not clean left black on our bare feet
Heaps of rubbish left around the bin outside didn’t look like had been emptied for a while
Outside of house could do with a good tidy up and a pest spray as was heaps of spiders
- Kerry (7/5): Enjoyable stay in a clean and spacious home. - Thank you, we enjoyed our stay at JE Guesthouse very much. Inside the guest house was very clean and largely well equipped. The space was large and welcoming. The ‘we are closed’ sign at the entrance was off/putting and then arriving at the house it seemed unkempt from the outside. Someone to mow and remove the weeds in the paving and the cobwebs would make a huge difference. The outside area was not well maintained.
The vanity sink in the front bedroom ensuite (on the left as you face the front door) was blocked when we arrived on Friday evening. We only used this sink the once and then did not use that bathroom again. I emailed the hosts with a photo but the email was not delivered despite the hosts previously asking me to reply to an email.
There were no cleaning products for use in the kitchen. We did go get our own so hopefully have left everything in a satisfactory condition. I am assuming this was just an omission but if not a sponge and spray to clean up is needed.
The booklet provided about the guesthouse needs an update and it would have been really helpful to have received this 48 hours in advance.
I hope this feedback is received in the way it is intended - it is a great house.
- Kimberley (9/5): Superb - Great location and lots of space in the house. Great having the property to ourselves so the kids could play. There weren't any cleaning clothes or kitchen drying towels in the kitchen.
- Conor (9/5): Superb -
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathleen (9/5): Superb - The dirt road going to the house was not very good especially as we have sedan cars
- Virginia (8/5): Very good -
- Grahame (5/5): Warning - an additional cleaning fee charged up front when never mentioned on the Booking.com site - The location is very good and only 5 to 10 minutes from a number of wineries etc. The house is a good size for 10 people and very quiet. The main issue was that we were charged a cleaning fee of $250 on top of the booking fee the week before we arrived. As it was so close to the trip we had no choice but to pay but this was never mentioned on Booking.com.
In addition the gas bottle for the BBQ was completely empty (another $40) and the kitchen was in poor condition with few utensils etc even though we had called and asked if we needed to being anything.
- Tara (7/5): Good - Great for multiple families, beds very comfortable. Lots of space for kids to run around A few maintenance things needed aircon probably needs a service and lights in kitchen didn’t work on one side. Nothing major.
- Emily (7/5): Would definitely stay again if the driveway was fixed. - Loved the number of bedrooms and space, the privacy of the location, and the firepit and wood onsite. The dirt driveway was very difficult to navigate with numerous large potholes, drops and points where you had to drive through vegetation. It meant we did not go out as much as we liked as not all cars could navigate the driveway and were worried about getting bogged at night. Also the acoustics in the dining room were very loud and required lots of yelling to be heard.
- Erica (8/5): Very good - Comfortable beds, lots of space, lovely outlook. Road into place was a bit tricky for some cars
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clare (9/5): Unfortunately has seen better days and is rundown. - The layout of the house was excellent with plenty of space. Good sized kitchen and eating area. It is clearly quite rundown and not at all inviting from outside. The road to the property is very eroded and difficult to navigate in anything but a four wheel drive. You have to turn off at a derelict cellar door with strewn rubbish and broken appliances and furniture littering the ground. The property itself has a lot of broken items and furniture outside.
- Arron (5/5): Passable - Location Access , air con not working, smell
- Karen (5/5): Would need a bit of work before we would consider returning there. - The home is large and the areas are comfortable. There are three bathrooms and five bedrooms which are large easily fit our group. The proximity to everything is pretty good as long as you have a car. There are laundry facilities and bbq as well as a large table to eat together. There are lots of native animals and birds around that don’t invade the space but are lovely to see and hear during the stay. I will start by saying at some stage this would have been a top stay however it has been neglected and is in a poor state at the moment maybe due to the cellar door not being open anymore I can’t say why really. So to get to the home there is a dirt road which has a large sinkhole in it and just basically is extremely difficult to navigate especially at night. Our 4WD was able to just navigate it but others had smaller sedans and it was not easy. We pulled up and there was a large industrial sized garbage bin which was overflowing and garbage strewn everywhere- not nice especially with wildlife around. Inside the homes floors in particular were filthy my feet were black within minutes, wiped the table down and the rag was black. The pavers have weeds high and in abundance all over them and just generally not looked after. If these were attended to it would be a great stay but unfortunately it impacts your stay.
- Kristie (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (8/5): Great house for our family weekend away. - The house was incredibly spacious and clean. Well suited for our big family holiday needs. Very comfortable beds and great bathrooms. Fire pit was a lovely bonus. The road needs a lot of tlc. We were lucky to have 4wd but there are some very big pot holes and fallen away parts. The front porch and grassed areas need a bit of weeding as there are a lot of bindis in the back yard so the kids had to be careful.
- Keely (7/5): It suited our group of six girls. The amenities are basic but the property is clean and comfortable - the size of the rooms
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Quietness. Cleanliness.
- Toni (5/5): The guesthouse is a generous size but it needs a lot of maintenance. - Location & privacy The house needs a lot of maintenance & thorough cleaning. The air conditioners need to be serviced. My husband cleaned the filters in the air conditioner in the dining area as thats where we spent most of our time.
- Steve (8/5): Great place for a large group of people. - The location is excellent and the place is very nice for a big group. Nice large table for everyone to dine at. Very quiet and the kangaroos in the morning were nice to see. Also, the outdoor firepit was great and a lovely way to wind down and watch the stars. The road to the property needs repairing. Not a big problem but something that needs to be looked at as it will only get worse.
- Anne-mari (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsty (7/5): Good -
- Kelly (10/5): Enjoyable and comfortable place to stay - Location- especially as it was 5 minutes from Wedding we were attending. Beautiful homestead with air con and fans. Lots of rooms to accomodate family. Road in (which we were advised was in need of repair), fridge in the kitchen was smaller than expected but found second fridge in laundry. Due to layout and tiles it does get noisy
- Vivienne (9/5): great property for a family holiday - the property was exactly like the photos and there were plenty of cups and plates. it was private and quiet and we loved the daily kangaroo visitors the driveway was tricky as we didn’t have 4WD vehicles but we managed to navigate it without incident
- Anonymous (10/5): The whole family had a wonderful time at the James Estate Guesthouse. Kids had plenty of space to roam around or play o - The location is amazing and the guesthouse is lovely.
- Lynette (10/5): Exceptional - Location was wonderful, house was more than adequate for our group. Liked it had facilities for bringing pets, we didn't but all agreed we would return here if we wanted to bring pets.
- Michelle (10/5): excellent! - beautiful property, large and good facilities
