Guest Reviews
- Paul (10/5): Comfortable, clean, well appointed. - Location is great, close to everything, beautifully presented. Nil
- Jo (9/5): Fantastic convenient stay that felt like home. - Location, friendly and helpful owners.
Perfect backyard area. Great kitchen supplies. Would have been great to have a BBQ.
- Doug (9/5): We really enjoyed our stay at Hargreaves Cottage and would definitely try to book it again. - Brilliant location: very close to the city centre, a park, restaurants, library, etc. As an added bonus there is an excellent breakfast/lunch care almost directly across the road. There were no face washers, nor was there a bottle opener. There was a corkscrew of a type that normally would open a beer bottle but this one wouldn't. The kitchen was very well equipped generally but we like to cook a lot and a smaller frying pan would be useful for scrambling eggs and other small task.

- Alexander (1/5): Couldn’t gain entry, refused to refund - I never got inside the property. Couldn’t open the door, owner couldn’t be contacted despite numerous attempts. Refused to refund payment The attitude of the owner is disgusting. Refused to refund even though we were unable to gain entry to the property

- Maria (10/5): Very enjoyable - Like the position close to the CBD and everything was in walking distance just about
- Ella (10/5): Cozy and comfortable home away from home! - Hargreaves Cottage was perfect for a 3 night stay. It had everything myself and my two children needed. We were able to cook breakfasts & dinners in the kitchen, the beds were extremely comfortable and warm with the electric blankets, and the heater in the bathroom was perfect for those frosty mornings. It was a great base for our Bendigo visit. It had one parking space in the driveway and plenty on the street if needed. Close to the town centre and Lake Weeroona. The hosts left the lights and heaters on for us the first night when we were arriving late which was much appreciated. Thanks for having us!
- Josh (9/5): Fantastic cottage, loved the location - The heating wasn’t great
- Brian (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (8/5): We enjoyed a great short break at a charming house with very comfortable furnishings and many amenities. - Great location. The house is extremely well appointed, with many thoughtful extra comforts included. The hosts were friendly and immediately available to solve a small problem that arose. Off street parking is a bonus and there is an excellent cafe just a few houses away. The back of the house could benefit from a window to enable a view to the garden/trees/sky.
- Bruce (9/5): Superb - Conveniently placed near gallery, gardens and lake....all within walking distance
Well done period charm of building High period ceilinged rooms are always harder to heat at the time of year we chose
- Wallis (10/5): Comfortable stay in a delightful cottage close to CBD. - Great location to CBD and cafe across the road.
Bedroom and bathroom heaters worked well. Lounge room air conditioner was not warm enough and also needs heating in dining room and kitchen.
- Paula (9/5): We had a lovely stay at this cute, cosy cottage. - The cottage was very well presented, clean and comfortable. Communication with the hosts was excellent and details for checking in and key access were clear and easy. The beds were comfortable and had electric blankets as well as nice linens and phone charging stations next to each bed. The heating was on when we arrived which was appreciated. Apart from having some problems with the heating unit in the lounge room, our stay was wonderful.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (9/5): Country.Perfection - You can tell the hosts love the property and have put thought and detail into it. Lovingly looked after and a pleasure to stay in. At night found the overhead wall heater noise travels down the wall to head level - but can’t be helped and certainly doesn’t detract from what the property offer.
- Jane (10/5): We had a delightful stay and enjoyed the amenities. Will definitely book again. - It’s position close to centre of Bendigo, the historic tram depot and a neighbourhood cafe with tasty breakfast food. A lovely small Victorian cottage in a nice residential area. It had all the facilities and despite the cold weather was warm and cosy. Nothing
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prahran (10/5): Cosy Cottage in tree lined heart of Bendigo - Adorable, cosy cottage within walking distance to Art gallery, theatre, restaurants and tram. Beautifully decorated, excellent quality linen, everything that is needed is on hand. Check in was seemless, we arrived to a cosy warm house, as the hosts had turned on heating and lamps. The check out time of 11am was generous and we were offered an early check in as the house was ready. Highly recomend.
- Dianna (9/5): We would recommend this property to others and we wish we could have stayed longer. - Gorgeous property with lots of character. Plenty of places inside and outside to relax and the beds were very comfortable. Easy access to locations around Bendigo too. The heater in the bathroom/family room didn't seem to work (we made good use of the blankets in the family room). We were a bit confused as to why the TV wasn't working but then I checked the antae cable and that had been knocked out by the toy baskets being so close.
- Tasma (9/5): Cosy cottage stay with family - Beautiful little cottage with great amenities. Gorgeous bedrooms, comfy beds and lovely linen. with the added bonus of electric blankets for those chilly nights. Lovely pub within walking distance and a cafe just down the road. Great hosts, easy to communicate with and friendly. There is a little bit of road noise heard the bedrooms but it didn't wake us up. Indi (our dog) loved sniffing around the secure backyard. Nothing springs to mind.
- Chang (10/5): Love the coziness and homely feel - Beautiful home. Great location. Kind hosts. Nothing! It was close to perfect!
- Joanna (9/5): Very clean & comfy, great location, Coffee shops & pub all within walking distance, enjoyed our stay -
- Jiang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (9/5): We'll worth a visit - Lovely cottage in a quiet location but convenient to the city centre. It has everything you need for a short - or longer - stay. The hosts are great - provided useful information about the best places to eat (and we managed to have a beautiful evening meal at one of them), local attractions and even a bottle of wine. We arrived earlier than expected and they allowed us to check in early and even notified us as soon as the cottage was ready to check into. Nothing that bothered us greatly.
- Jane (10/5): Enjoyed our stay and would like to return. - Very comfortable, clean and stylish home. Well fitted out kitchen. The position was excellent. Close to the centre of town but also quiet. Nothing
- Carol (9/5): Superb - The charm of the property was really lovely. Each separate space within the property had its own charm. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable.
- Simon (10/5): Beautiful Victorian Cottage, in a fantastic location - Great location, comfortable and clean N/A

- Mirriam (9/5): Superb -
- Adams (6/5): Pleasant stay in a cute cottage - No breakfast offered No tv streaming
- Will (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Location and cleanliness
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - Facilities were terrific with an excellent location for our needs.
- Ross (8/5): Very good -
- Marcie (8/5): Very good - Location was excellent
The bedrooms were very nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was a disappointment as there was no natural light because of a blind screwed down over the window. The kitchen felt a bit tired. Parts of the outside walls of the cottage needed painting.
We would have liked an outdoor setting on the back lawn.
- Gayle (8/5): Cozy, welcoming and wonderful location,. - A pretty Victorian cottage in a central location to the CBD, so walking distance to restaurants and everything Bendigo has to offer. Being able to park our car off the street and in the driveway of the cottage was a bonus. The front verandah was an ideal spot to have an evening drink in the sunshine where we enjoyed the friendly welcoming of neighbours and walkers by. We felt like inviting them in for a drink! Borchelli's, Italian restaurant (Bath Lane) was a wonderful place to have dinner. I ordered Risotto al Pescue (entree size), absolutely delicious. My husband had a pasta dish which was just as good and we shared the garlic bread. Lemon Slice also delish. This restaurant was buzzing with happy staff and happier customers. Highly recommended. You need to book ahead. Back to Hargreaves Cottage - we loved the bedrooms, cozy, electric blankets and typical of Victorian cottages, the bedrooms were at the front of the house.
The kitchen and bathroom were dated, but clean and perfectly acceptable for any traveller. Percy and Percy, cafe, literally opposite the cottage has wonderful coffee, food and ambience. So convenient. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your cute cottage.
- Julia (9/5): Clean, comfortable accommodation for our group. - Comfortable clean and easy to stay in. A bit noisy but otherwise great coffee machine would be great especially on Sunday when the coffee shop is closed.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good - Position. Nice street and central
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional - Directions were clear and the box easy to locate
- David (10/5): Exceptional - This is a lovely old cottage, nicely furnished with everything you could need. Spacious, comfortable and welcoming.
- Larkin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional - location, clean property
- Mary (9/5): Cosy, warm, clean Victorian charm - Cosy and comfortable beds in a beautiful Victorian style home. Excellent location. Very clean. Easy check in. Would definitely stay again and recommend. Felt very true to Bendigo accommodation. Maybe a coffee pod machine or something similar for evenings would be a nice addition as a lot of coffee shops close early around town. That's just me being fussy as a coffee drinker. There was tea options for the evening.
- Mang0es (8/5): Very good -
- Suzanne (9/5): Cosy and warm on a winters day - Proximity to town and it was cute Only one bathroom
- Lynda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marina (10/5): We had the best stay at this place and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. Love visiting Bendigo. Would definitely r - This cottage was very comfortable and warm. Little touches like electric blankets if needed were lovely.
So cozy and secure. Very clean and neat.
Great location to explore Bendigo. Couldn’t fault anything.
- Cheryll (9/5): Looking forward to our next stay at Hargreaves Cottage. - Charming and spotlessly clean Victorian cottage in quiet neighbourhood. Well-resourced kitchen - cookbooks and bottle of wine a nice touch. Very comfortable beds, and plenty of blankets and rugs and reliable heating appreciated on a very chilly night. Needs a safety strip on step from living room into kitchen - hard to distinguish it from kitchen floor, especially at night.
- Carole (9/5): Lovely warm and cozy cottage. - It was very warm and clean and central. There was a gap between the front verandah and the driveway which nearly caused my husband to trip especially in the dark.
- Bernadette (8/5): The cottage is a delight. Well equipped and clean. Quite cold in winter. It would be good to return in the summer. - Charming. Very central and within walking distance of art gallery and parks and museums. Bedrooms and lounge were heated. However, kitchen and dining room were not and the bathroom was very cold.
- Annette (10/5): Beautiful well appointed cottage. - Very clean, well appointed and in a good location. Not a thing.
- Meredith (9/5): Superb - House had a lot of character but still comfortable. We enjoyed walking and cycling - location great for this.
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional accommodation , with a warm and welcoming feel and perfect location ! - The warm and welcoming presentation of the property was outstanding and made even more exceptional by the additional touches and items for the traveller. The guest guide and local recommendations were friendly and spot on !! With the brilliant central location topping it off ! I cannot recommend this property highly enough! There was nothing not to like.

Location was good, walking distance to cafe and pub. Having to go back home
- Yvonne (10/5): A clean & cosy cottage, with all the amenities you need & close to Bendigo main centre. - House was beautiful!! Cottage vibes. Immaculately clean & close to town centre. It felt cosy & welcoming. We couldn’t work the TV remote as there were two but the owner replied immediately and was super friendly!
Would stay again in a heartbeat. Nothing!!
