- Eugene (10/5): Brilliant, especially for the appreciators of the Old English charm - Staying at Jim's Place is like visiting old friend's house. It is a charming old English (sorry, I should have probably said "Irish", but for me, who spent years and years in England, and visiting Dublin for the first time, the word "English" is more meaningful) style house. The house owner is truly hospitable and welcoming person. "Old friend" description comes to the mind from the very first moment of meeting him. Location is perfect, close to the Dublin landmarks, just several minutes walk from the Kevin Street stop of the 783 Dublin Express Bus fron the Airport. There are signs of the house getting dated (no wonder for 150 year old property), but these are like patine on the old sculpture which make it more attractive. Clean rooms and comfortable beds, good quality linens and enough cutions. There is a fully staffed kitchen where you can make a typical English (sorry again) breakfast with tea, tost and marmelade - exactly as if you were staying in the old friends house, in good spirit and without ceremonies. Last but not the least - the price is somewhat twice lower than the cheapest comparable competition in Dublin, the city, which, with all respect, went creazy with their overinflated lodging prices. Some better directions to the property would help. New travellers must be prepared to resolve the puzzle on how to distinguish between the Bride Street and the New Bride Street. As far as I can see, the house is located in the Bride Street, although the formal address suggests it is in the New Bride Street. Good Luck!
- ginger (10/5): Jim is a super nice man. The location can.t be beet I loved it. I thought of it as home. - Jim is a wonderful Irish man, can't help enough. He canceled a hotel for me so I could come back to his where there were more things to do . He drove me to the train station---SSOOOO nice. has fruit and cereal for breakfast and tea or coffee I couldn't have asked for anything better. I love Jims place and would book again if I ever return to Ireland and I will recommend it ti all my friends.

- Shana (1/5): - Nothing Everything the smell of smoke in the place the fact it wasn't an apartment but someone's house very misleading i wpuld never had booked if I knew it was going to be like that

- Daniel (8/5): Uncle Jims Vibe - Jim was a friendly person. I Liked the place and location. The vibe is visiting Uncle's house for a stay. Parking and kitchen provided.
- Horacio (7/5): Central location. - The location is very central The place is an old Georgian house, full of character but it needs a decor update and a good overall cleaning and dusting.
Jim was friendly and helpful. Breakfast facilities available.

- Richard (6/5): - Nice and warm No breakfast which was meant to be included had the use of the kitchen to do your own
- Grace (10/5): Highly recommended - Jim was a gentleman and great host made us feel really welcome , room was big and spacious, bed was really comfortable , great value for money
- Ana (3/5): -
- Neasa (8/5): - Host very pleasant and helpful, house Convenient to town, good facilities Shower wasn't great

- Mészáros (10/5): Brilliant place to stay overnight - The location is brilliant and the room was warm and very comfortable.
- Nathaniel (10/5): Comfortable night close to central Dublin - Very accommodating host. I got there at 02:45 but his instruction re access were perfect so no problem. Good breakfast selection. Toiletries were good, certainly no cheap shower gel. Nothing.
- Daniel (8/5): - Unkompliziert und sehr gut gelegen, schöner Garten
- Adrian (10/5): A comfortable, quiet, central location for visiting Dublin - The location couldn't be better for accessing Dublin tourist attractions (10 minute walk). Well stocked kitchen. Quiet house and responsive host with good suggestions. Jim had arranged convenient parking nearby Rain! But realistically you have to expect some precipitation or the isle wouldn't be emerald.
- Tara (8/5): Unbeatable value home away from home - Prime location and very friendly host. The property is cool and full of character. Unbeatable price for a city centre stay. Large comfortable room, lovely and warm. Free parking provided by Jim, much appreciated. Bring able to bring my dog was the best part. Far better than other reviews led me to expect! The bed was a little hard for my liking but it was only one night. The breakfast advertised is more of a "help yourself" situation, but that suited me.
- Fabian (9/5): Welcoming host with a comfy place in the center of Dublin - You can reach everything in Dublin by foot in under 20 minutes. The kitchen is stuffed with bread (butter, marmelade, cheese, etc.), cereals and milk, fresh fruits. The room has its own hair dryer. The bed was very comfy.
We have been at Jim's place in December but each room was equipped with a proper heating so it was really warm inside.
The place is clean and I mention this to relativate other reviews: The place is not the tidiest, but you don't need to worry about hygene!
Jim himself is one of the best hosts. He is there if you need him, you can always have a nice chat. We had a really good time! The only thing to mention is has that the house could be a bit better soundproofed. We were at least 3 parties in the house and everyone was quite, but you can hear people walking in the house and closing doors.
- sabrina (6/5): - Posizione centralissima. Cucina in condivisione. Pulizia spazi comuni. Bagno privato adiacente alla camera ma esterno.

- jay (8/5): don't judge the book by it cover. Presently surprised. Great location . Very friendly host. - Jim very much a people's person, Jim's place is clean ,tidy , and warm . Great location for myself . Nice surprise. It first apparence ...
- Alvarado (5/5): Don't expect a nice place, but location is awesome. - The location was excellent. The bus stop is just around the corner. When you take the Dublin Express from airport to this location, and back, it's really great. As well, if you use train to be around the city, the bus stops are relatively close. I had a bathroom just for me, the climate was goo too. Jim, the host, is very nice guy. The house is very old, and therefore rooms, kitchen too, the carpet is old, dirty, filthy, etc. The description said that breakfast was included, but what it was, I was given the option to use the kitchen for my use, taking cereal, coffee, fruits, etc.
- Marcos (10/5): - Jim is one of the greatest host I ever have, kind and thoughtful. He took us in his house and treat us like real honor guests. if you go please respect him and his house
- Sheila (3/5): - Bed was clean Everything else
- Monika (1/5): - Docházková vzdálenost centra Špína, smrad, skvělá snídaně v ceně znamenala dva uschlé plátky šunky a pár kousků ovoce. Pokoj s vlastní koupelnou jsme nedostaly. Tohle je opravdu mnohem horší, než si dokážete představit.
- FreitasRenata (8/5): -
- Romans (5/5): -
- David (1/5): Dirty - Location Dirty rubbish left in kitchen rotten fruit left kitchen table badly advertised was like going to stay in a squat only stayed one night out of two
Estremamente delusi.
Si salva solamente l’ottima posizione.
- Andora (2/5): Lovely guy, rough quarters - Jim is lovely in person. I loved the beginning of my time there before I saw the room. Very cute house. The room had a lot of dust and mold. I am allergic to both and had a severe reaction. Tried to contact Jim, but he was unreachable. I had to bail within 2 hours and had to book a hotel by the airport. This experience ruined my short trip to Dublin and I ended up having to pay for two hotels. Unacceptable.
- Joseph (1/5): see above - NOTHING, We have stayed in a lot of Booking.com sites over the past 10 years and have never ever seen anything like this. We are surprised that Jim's Place is even allowed to be listed on the site. It is a disgusting place, not fit for anyone. We did not stay at Jim’s Place…..we chose to move to a hotel…..our entrance was through some empty beer bottles (another reviewer made the same comment). We went to our room and it was dirty….the comforter on the bed did not look like it was washed. As for breakfast, we were told to help ourselves to anything in the kitchen. The fruit was just on the table and the bread was in the cupboard and the packages were not closed up. The toaster was omg (see picture)! There was a full garbage bag by the back door leading to the outside patio as well as empty cat dishes. Cat hair was all over. There was a cat in the house. The outside door to the patio was left open (we were told to leave it open so the cat could come in and out). The oven, as the toaster, was omg! The freezer had food crammed … we were supposed to help ourself….
- Lidia (1/5): Ongemakkelijk, grote spijt. Vreselijk.

- Johann (2/5): Inferior! - Kein Kommentar!
- Pamela (5/5): -
- Heather (2/5): Pick somewhere else to stay. - Great location close to bars and restaurants. Towels and sheets clean along with bathroom. Not sure where to start … the place needs cleaning. Beer bottles at doorway entrance just to start with and the list goes on. Our room was dusty and hot. House is for sale and it looks like no one cares anymore. Does not look like the photos.
Ramen sloten slecht
- Johanna (4/5): - Sehr zentrale Lage.
- Valentina (6/5): 6 politico - Posizione ottima in centro a Dublino.
Hygienisch sehr bedenklich.
- Nicola (1/5): Fogna - È da chiudere fatiscente Tutto inagibile.

È da denuncia.

- Cedric (4/5): -
- Des (3/5): Jim's Place needs help, now - The location is excellent as its only a few minutes walk from Stephen's Green
Jim seems to be an OK fella but he's clearly not up to running a B&B It was noisy from the pubs nearby that are open late.
It was dirty and very unwelcoming from arrival at the front door where a load of empty beer bottles were left by the front step, and then into a grubby hallway etc.
The bedding and furniture all needs immediate updating
Above the bedroom ceiling with a hole in it, you could hear the rodents playing.
I'm not sure how Jim gets away with charging £92 for one night here.
I left promptly at 7am the following morning after very little sleep.
The description of the property on this site is very misleading.
Clearly booking.com are ignoring the poor reviews
Jim needs help and needs it now.
- julie (1/5): Avoid! - Property is up for sale! Front door nothing like photos. Building site next door. Room was dirty, fridge had half drunk bottles in it and was grubby. Leaves, hairs and fluff on floor. We were advised this was an upgraded room!Bathroom toilet seat dirty. Kitchen dirty. Unacceptable. We didn't stay. We booked beginning of year when reviews were ok. It's obviously been neglected since then.
- Zaneta (6/5): - It is a very central location. The room was big and I had an en-suite bathroom (I would not have booked a room without it). The building in itself has a great character. But I guess due to lack of funds it feels that it need regular maintenance and Cleaning. Cleaning is the weakest point.
- Karen (4/5): Not worth the money - Location was good Didn’t get the room we booked, place wasn’t very clean, no en-suite, dead spiders in shared bathroom, we checked out a day early and booked a hotel so we could have a shower and feel clean again
- Giovanni (1/5): Non lo consiglio a nessuno / I don’t recommend to anyone - Nulla / Nothing
Pulizia indecente / Total lack of cleanisses Assenza totale di Pulizia / Total dirt throughout the house
- Stephan (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Comfortable stay - The bed was comfortable and the room had everything you need. Towels and plenty of bathroom products. Very close to the town for pubs and sightseeing. Jim was helpful in advising where to go. Breakfast was help yourself but plenty of bread, fruit and various jams, teas and coffees. Yes the place is a bit tired and could do with a bit of dusting but it was comfortable and a pleasant atmosphere. I had the place to myself so nice and quiet as well. I would happily stay there again. N/A
- Patrick (7/5): All good - Good location
- Henry (6/5): Pleasant -
- Larry (1/5): I want a refund as I did not get what I booked - Nothing to like Very dirty bedroom, kitchen dirty; cats running free throughout house: no breakfast
- Karen (2/5): Very poor -
- Annamaria (1/5): AVOID AS THE PLAGUE - Nothing Everything.
I booked the accommodation a month ahead and never heard from the owner how to get into the property.
On the day, we arrived at 22:00, still no messages from the owner. So, I called and he told me that I had to let myself in by taking the key from key box (not a problem). However, he also told me that because he had been in hospital for a few days the room was not ready and I had to make the bed myself (which still wasn't a problem) or cancel the booking and go somewhere else (which was not practical as July is high season, we arrived during the weekend, was already late, and we already paid). The owner said that he would refund me 50%, but never heard from him when I messaged. Once in, we discovered the truth! The house was neglected for more than a few days (probably weeks if not months).
All house was dirty and dusty with cats hair and bad smell and rubbish all around.
The owner just grabbed our money. He could have cancelled the booking when he was admitted in hospital (I don't believe is the truth, anyway).
I will file a complaint to Booking.com as the property is not fit to host people because it legally lacks the health and safety minimum standards.
- Brian (6/5): Pleasant - Jim was a great host, despite his current leg injury. He was always up for a friendly chat and advice on what one could see and do.
The location was a key factor. Within walking distance to centre of Dublin, as well as other facilities along Camden rd. Twas hard for us to find affordable accommodation close to town, given we're managing a budget for a 9 month trip. We found the bed a bit firm for us oldies.
We are also not fans of showers over a bath, again because we are older. But here Jim at least had a non slip mat in the shower.
- Garry (6/5): Pleasant -
- Søren (8/5): Charming old house. Good location. Jim is a super host. -
- Gustavs (7/5): Good -
- Wendy (7/5): Good -
- Marie (1/5): Poor accommodation ...check out attached photos..the front door pic must have been taken years ago! - Nothing! There was NOTHING about this accommodation to like!
- Roger (10/5): At first we were apprehensive but it proved to be fantastic. - Very comfortable charming room. Warm. Great location and Jim is a wonderful interesting funny host. We really enjoyed our chats with him. Breakfasts were minimal ,but I’m a minimal breakfast guy so it was fine by me. Nothing
- Lidia (3/5): Not recommended, a dirty and run down.place - Conveniently located and good communication from host. Plenty of fruit, tea and coffee in the kitchen. The house is run down and dirty. Advertised for sale so not intended to be maintained. The bathroom has mould on the walls, and the bathtubj was dirty, as was the floor. Room dusty, dirty carpet, spiderwebs,.
- Lynn (6/5): Pleasant -
