Guest Reviews
- Peter (10/5): - Lovely owner lady! 🙏🏼 Great location, right in the centre of Sai Gon. Don't expect luxury for what you pay
- Christy (10/5): -
- Adam (10/5): Memorable - I love this place. You can’t beat it if you want authentic accomodation. Nothing. Everything is as it should be.
- horne (10/5): - The hoasts were lovely, even cooked me evening meals. The bed was comfortable, air con and Wifi reception very good. Location excellent. Value for money excellent It was an authentic homestay. There was nothing that i did't like. Maybe a little difficult to find on first arrival is all
- Johan (10/5): -
- Diego (10/5): - Absolutely worth it! The family is very nice and friendly and ready to help you. I needed laundry and they did it for me. Special note is the dinner, simply amazing!
- Patrik (9/5): Top Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis mitten in Ho Chi Minh.
- Kelly (10/5): Give it a go - This is an opportunity to have an authentic Vietnamese experience. The host is delightful, the location is unbeatable.
Dinner with the other guests was home cooked and great fun with many laughs
It is a homestay, not just another hotel, and that's what I liked most. Probably not suitable for kids or people looking for luxury.I stayed 2 nights and that was perfect. Would not recommend an extended stay.
They are very simple lodgings but that's what's good about it
- Daniel Eugene (10/5): The hosts who welcomed me into their home and made me feel at home was special indeed! - This was homestay proved to be most memorable with-
The warm, caring, hospitable, and attentive couple and son.
They cook amazing food for dinner and had great company at the table with them catering to every need during our meal share.
The home was uniquely designed as well to maximize space.
- Andreanne (10/5): - If you are looking for AUTHENTIC, this is THE place! Everything you need, but not typical western comfort. This family is welcoming, the place is charming. Located in the best spot in Saigon, with the best restaurant just in front of the door! I stayed there for one night, and went back 3 nights when my flight was cancelled. The feeling there is incredible, I got to share meals with the family and the dogs are so cute and well taken care of (bathed regularly, pyjamas changed daily, taken out for walks at night).
- Skubis (10/5): Hospitality from the heart of the home. - Wow, what a wonderful place. The location is excellent—many places are within walking distance. But the biggest highlight was the hosts: welcoming, caring, and very easy to communicate with. We felt truly looked after and well fed, as the hostess even offers dinner. You can tell she puts her heart into it. Thank you so much—I would love to come back.
- Florence (10/5): - Friendly hosts in an excellent location to explore the city. Loved the dinners together with the other guests and Ms Dung even made us special vegetarian dishes. Clean room with everything we needed. Nothing
- Eryan (9/5): Impressed with this real, hospitable homestay! - This is truly a Homestay! The woman running the house is very sweet and hospitable. I am so impressed that she makes dinner for the guests every night! What an unbelievable value. And she offered to do our laundry no charge! We’re budget travelers, so we haven’t had service like this in all of our traveling in Southeast Asia. It was truly so nice. Room is clean and AC works. The puppy is very cute too. By the way, the outdoor restaurant out front of the apartment entrance has really good food. A lady at a tour agency in the city told us that they’re known for great spring rolls and she’s tried twice to eat there but they were out of food by the time she arrived. So we’re quite lucky to be staying right there! It is not a lot of space anywhere, the stairs are steep, and you share the bathroom/shower with the other guests, so it is often wet. However, it is a great deal for the value.
- Capelle (1/5): - L'emplacement. SDB riquiqui.
- Katrine Vad (10/5): -
- Wolfgang (9/5): -
- Mohammed (10/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): - Superb location. Also they provide free dinners. Also, it is located 1 minute away Ben than market, this homestay is the best for overnight stepovers.
- HUYNH (10/5): - Good Good
- masashi (9/5): -
- Ngot (10/5): -
- Christopher (7/5): Felt like part of the family - Excellent location. Lovely family, made me feel at home. Host made complimentary dinner. Great value for money.
- Jrellieye (7/5): Good -
- Johnnie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (8/5): Wonderful time, thank you - A lovely little place in a fantastic location for exploring Ho Chi Minh City.
I cannot fault the lovely couple here. So welcoming, even inviting us to dinner. We had a late check out and we're able to store our things and use the shower to refresh before the night bus.
Room was comfortable, basic amenities but everything we needed for a short stay and everything we expected for the great value.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nico (10/5): Exceptional -
- Agnieszka (10/5): Great location great host - The location .
- Gang (8/5): Very good -
- Mr (9/5): Very pleasant. - Dinner cooked by the owner of the homestay guesthouse is included. She's a great cook.
- Jankat (10/5): Exceptional - This place is not only a place to stay, but also an experience. You get to stay in a regular Vietnamese flat with incredibly lovely hosts. Sitting around the same table with other people and having delicious Vietnamese style dinner together was great. The hosts were very accommodating towards my check in and check out times. Overall, it really felt like family!
- Oliver (10/5): Great homestay in the center of Saigon - Very nice owners, they serve a wonderful dinner at 7p.m. - best dishes I ate in Vietnam - they also did laundry for me. Really great! The location is very central, the room has a good comfortable bed and AC, also a TV (but I did not use it). But the best thing is that you are welcomed in a very friendly family. -
- Amelia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Celia (9/5): Superb - Perfect location! Walking distance to all the hotspots (not to mention an amazing bun thit nuong street cart is right outside the entrance). Wifi worked well for my needs for remote work (no table in the room though but perfect opportunity to meet others and owners if you work downstairs in the main room). But also plenty of coffeeshops nearby to work at. Owners are sweet and love that they feed us.
- Thị (10/5): Exceptional - Very warm and welcoming host, the facility is clean and even though I skipped dinner, having that option available for the price I paid is totally exceeded my expectations. Definitely return and recommend to others coming to Ho Chi Minh
- Gergely (8/5): Very good - Really nice family and really clean room perfect for the price. Bed mattress is a bit too hard and bathroom is a really small room with toilet together
- Uta (9/5): Superb - It felt more like a home than like a homestay. The dinner was so nice.
- Sukhbat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Leela (8/5): Stay was good and cheaper except for the access to the property. - The amenities in the room. The entry to the property is a bit confusing and not clean. You need to enter through a street food centre.. Also, there was something I didn't understand about hot water why it hasn't worked some times. But the staff was really good and helpful.
- Peter (1/5): Bad - nothing all of it
- Tom (10/5): The absolute best Homestay I’ve seen in Vietnam. Great value. - I stayed here 5 times in a month, kept coming back between excursions because of Dung. It would be hard to exaggerate her kindness. She helped book travels, constantly offered help and advice, and cooked an amazing dinner every night for her guests. The location can’t be beat- 30 second walk to vendors and restaurants, one block from the Ben Thanh Market. But set back and actually very quiet at night! My best stay in Vietnam! For those with physical disabilities, the rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors above the kitchen via steep narrow stairs.
- Jos (9/5): Superb - You feel like you are part of the family. They are very welcoming, dinner and laundry is included. Located very central, yet very quiet. Nothing bothered me.
(1/5): Bad - Nothing Everthing
- Tom (9/5): An excellent value with a great hostess in an excellent location. - Extremely welcoming and friendly hostess. Excellent dinner prepared from scratch every night. Free laundry service. Within 30 seconds walk to outdoor vendors of Ben Thanh Market, and one block from the indoor Market. Lively area with restaurants bars and cafes, but set back on upper levels, so quiet (important because I’m a light sleeper). Comfortable bed. The shared bathrooms are small, but only 2 or 3 rooms share a bathroom. Steep stairs getting up. Difficult to find. Scary appearance from the street entrance but safe (and clean inside). See picture to recognize the entrance.
- Alford (9/5): Lovely stay in great location - Lovely couple that shared their home with travellers. The lady wanted to cook dinner for me (very sweet). She came out late at night to help me find their place as my phone ran out of battery. The whole stay felt very authentic. My room (Mangosteen) was lovely. I was a bit confused whether I was in the right place as the homestay is up a few flights of very dirty and graffitied stairs, but this superficial front does not detract from the experience. This is probably typical of where most people live..so not really a dislike!
- Andrina (8/5): Very good - Great location, friendly family and great value for money. Need to be able to climb steep small stairs.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (7/5): Good -
- Monika (10/5): Exceptional - They were so nice! You can‘t expect luxury it is a cosy Homestay with a great family! Come back for sure!
- Alexander (10/5): Amazing homestay in the heart of Saigon - The family was super welcoming, the dinner delicious, the location superb. The room was super clean. The bathroom is tiny and not as clean as the room but it was no problem.
- Omar (9/5): Value for money spent - Location is the best. Near all attraction. A/C working best. Water is available. Value for money. Security is good.
The flexible hours to check out are the best. It is the only homestay with a checkout time of 2000hrs, it is very convenient for onward night travellers. The stairs to the rooms are steep, but you pay for what you get. I can't complain much.
- Alexandr (9/5): Superb - Very hospitable family, good food, best location Steep steps, low ceilings
- Lien (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you so much, Dung and Phuc. We felt like we were at home. The evening meals were delicious and suited our taste. Phuc took great care of us during our stay, and we were very touched. If the stairs were a little easier to climb, it would have been perfect.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amnaj (1/5): no stay here it terrible - this is a room to check in it look like abandoned room full of garbage even the homeless peoples they will not stay here a a free I surprise why owner of this property used Booking .com .I have no time to take picture and sent to Booking.com have to rush out from a terrible mansion
Thanks
- Enrique (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is perfect !!!
The accommodation is amazing, the hosts are The Very Best in all my uncountable travels around the World, the dinner is really delightful and Saigonnais Homestay is located at the very very hearth of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
SAIGONNAIS HOMESTAY is at THE TOP of the TOP TEN !!!
- Christian (10/5): Great place hidden in the heart of saigon - the place is great, the owners too, maybe the main gate make you feel scared or something but everything is amazing and good, we then you go upstairs and enter you will discover nice rooms in the heart of the city.
- Leah (5/5): Needs cleaning - Location is great. Close to everything.
The homestay host is accomodating and helpful. The dinner provided each night was delicious. The facilities needs to be restructured esp the common area where the guests eat.
The shelves in the sleep room so as the window little bench were too dusty.
(10/5): Exceptional -
- Globalcitizen-de (8/5): Very good - It's definitely a good place to stay. Considering the location. The price and the dinner offered.
The dinner will be local vietamese food, but they can adjust it to your diet too, like me, I am vegetarian.
Also, the hosting family is very friendly and accommodating. The stairways to the apartment iis off putting, as it looks almost like an abandoned house, but the appartment and rooms are in a good state.
- Thi (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - The family was sooooo welcoming!!! its like your part of the family. free laundry as well :)) and the lunch from her is soooo delicious!!
- Maricon (8/5): In the heart of HCMC - Great location. The family was very kind and helpful.
- Mai (10/5): Exceptional - Highly recommended. The host is very caring they helped me carry my luggage upstairs, turned on the AC and boiler shower before I come in. The lady has amazing cooking still and the room has exceeded my expectation with extra space. Very good value for money
- Khanh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (10/5): The real vietnamite experience - A very nice family who rents some rooms in their apartment. It is simple, but they have nice attention for the details. The room was big, comfortable beds and everything I needed. Very clean. It is a real vietnamite experience, and all the family is very nice. The dinner was absolutely amazing, a lot of food and very tasty. The position is also perfect to go everywhere walking. I recommend it
- Nhieu (9/5): We enjoyed our one-night stay at this location. - The homestay is located on a quiet street near Ben Thanh market in city center. The owner and his family were very friendly and treated all guests to a wonderful, complimentary Vietnamese family-style dinner. From this homestay location we walked one block to Pasteur Street to catch Bus 152 to go Tan Son Nhut airport (SGN) for 5,000 VND (not even 20 cents) The stairs were somewhat difficult to navigate but the owner helped us to carry our luggage upstairs.
- Martha (10/5): Proper homestay with a lovely familyl - A really authentic homestay experience - you are staying with a family in their home. It's not a hotel, so expectations should be as such. It was really clean and comfortable. Decent aircon in the bedroom. Yes, the bathroom is a bit small, but it's not a hotel. For the price, it's perfect. Dinner was really good both nights and there was lots of food. It was nice to have dinner together with the other guests. The host family were lovely, even letting me have a short lie down when I arrived in one of the family's rooms as mine wasn't ready yet. One of the best places I stayed in Vietnam. Nothing
- Donna (9/5): Authentic home stay with dinner. - The highlight was the dinner food. was great to eat with other traveller's too. The air conditioning was good and the room and bathroom had everything I needed. Excellent helpful host. It was a little difficult to find and the host wasn't there when I arrived, but arrived soon after. There are quite a few stairs to climb, the host happy to help with getting your luggage up.
- Joseph (10/5): Super friendly hosts, great value for money - This was a truly authentic Vietnamese Homestay experience right in the heart of Saigon. The family living there were extremely welcoming and cooked for us twice. The food was delicious! We had a late flight out the next day, but the hosts let us leave our belongings there whilst we ventured out for the day and even cooked us another meal that evening! Incredible value for money!
- Anh (10/5): Incredible, cheap and excellence place to stay, 10/10 would book again. - Overall with the price, it's the best option you can find around D1 district, right next to Nguyen Hue's street, can't complaint. Nothing
- Esmeralda (8/5): We had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect. The food is delicious and the family is kind and welcoming. We highly - Well located. Execelent dinner included. Hospitality Everything was ok for the price
- Ha (1/5): Bad - I feel like I was tricked. I arrived at 10:00 p.m. and called no one answered. I called the fourth time and they hung up and didn't answer. I had to find another place to spend the night. What an awful experience!
- Ji (7/5): Good - The staff was very kind and shared the fruits from her house.
- Benedikt (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely host with amazing dinner every night! The flat is really central and authentic (like a real homestay).
- Mark (10/5): Great authentic experience. - Really lovely people, very helpful and friendly.
Home cooked dinner every night at 19h00 included and laundry too.
It was like being at home!
My bedroom was super clean and comfortable.
It was lovely staying with a Vietnamese family and sharing dinner with other travellers.
- Sharon (7/5): Good - A lovely lady N husband went out there way to help me to find bustop for airport great location loving family great hosts 🎀 For the price there's nothing to dislike
- Jacob (10/5): Great homestay - Host family was very friendly and the included dinner was quite filling and varied. Room was comfortable with good AC and bath is only shared between two rooms. Both the bed and bathrooms were clean. This is a great location and value for staying in D1 HCMC. Nothing
- Fabian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (10/5): Amazing stay ran by a family who cooks dinner every night - Really nice family who own the homestay! Cooks family dinner every night which is very nice and free, helped us with our bags to the room when we arrived and even helped us with our bags to the taxi
Bed is comfy and has hair dryers and fridge
Etc
Shower is powerful and very hot!
- Miroslav (9/5): Superb - Dinner every day at 7pm , hospitality
- Abhay (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing hosts who make you feel like home.
- Simone (8/5): Very good - The kindest host we met on our trip: we were welcomed our first night with a delicious meal even if we arrived past dinner time! And the location is great, in the heart of district 1.
- Jenny (8/5): Cool home life experience - The hosts are very kind. We arrived and they made us dinner which was so tasty! The room is big and has air con. The family are local and really kind. It didn’t feel safe going up the stairs but don’t let it put you off! It’s a really cool experience.
- Patrick (9/5): Delightful homestay in central Ho Chi Minh - Incredible family dinner each night
- Max (10/5): Great Vietnamese experience!! - The homestay is very well-located and close to everything in the city center by walk.
You really feel at home and get the chance to live as a Vietnamese.
You have a private room and you share a bathroom with one or two other guests.
Dinner is included and served every evening at 7 pm. The homemade food is delicious!!
Thank you for this amazing experience. Just a warning to future guests: this is not a hotel, so don't expect full comfort and privacy. It's a real homestay/guest house where a Vietnamese family lives so please, respect them, their home and their lifestyle.
- Chandra (10/5): Amazing - The owner invited all the guests for a dinner and the dinner was amazing. It was a great opportunity to socialise with other people. The owner and her family are super friendly, kind, and compassionate. I wanted to stay more but the rooms got quickly booked out. Rooms are clean, internet worked good, location is at the centre of the city. Everything was perfect.
- Tomek (9/5): Superb - english speaking host, central location, nice room with air conditioning, delicious dinner
- Richard (5/5): Pleased I only stayed one night. - The Wi-Fi was adequate.
The tv although only cable channels worked fine.
There was a kettle in the room.
Leaving the next morning unfortunately.
In the room it’s self was clean. I have no idea where these good reviews are coming from. I can only assume because they get a free meal they leave a good review.
1/ Entering the building was to put it mildly, disgusting, filthy and dogs on the stairs that were not to pleased I wanted to get past.
2/ You go through the front room to get to your room while they are eating there meals etc, feels awkward.
3/ The bed is made of foam it’s not a mattress, I woke up with a terrible back ache.
4/ The shared bathroom was really dirty, shelves etc. Also it was tiny, 5ft x 4ft. You had to shower over the toilet. It was constantly wet from all the guests using it. Not just the floor but obviously the whole toilet with being so small.
5/ Rat traps in the house, hence why I made an excuse as to not eat there.
I don’t leave bad reviews very often but this place I could not pass on. I’ve been in Asia for nearly 6 months travelling and this is my worst accommodation unfortunately.
- Nash (10/5): Exceptional - Stay was phenomenal. The room was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked amazingly. Dinner every night was a highlight of my time in Vietnam. The hostess was very welcoming and accommodating. She even stayed up extra late to make sure I got to the airport for a very late flight. The location can't be beat. Within just a few minutes walk of lots of the main sites and food markets. The restaurant on the street right outside the stairwell was amazing too.
- Karina (10/5): Amazing Vietnamese Homestay - It was such a great experience staying here. The host and her family were so sweet and caring. The accommodation is simple but very clean and has everything that one needs. It is close to markets, shops and public transport. The host prepared delicious, homemade Vietnamese food every evening. We are very glad to have found this place and can only recommend a stay here.
