Guest Reviews
- Graham (1/5): A traumatic stay. - Location close to eateries, shops, bus stop and train station. Lack of ventilation, security and standard of facilities. Unhelpful host.
- Graham (1/5): Book at your own risk - no value for money, unhelpful owner and burglary occurred. Booking.com replied with owner not co - Location - close to shops and eateries. Angel train station is a stone’s throw away and bus stop at door step with numerous route services. 1) Poorly maintained, inadequately equipped and poor security - difficult to slide open windows, once opened there’s no way to secure them. Pillows were thin and floppy on an uncomfortable bed. One clothes hanger for two guests. Towels were thin, one had see-through patches. No fan despite the faulty, insecure windows resulting in a poorly ventilated room made more unpleasant during the summer heat. No tea towel or clean cloth in kitchenette. A mini hanging rack to dry washing that doesn’t hook securely. Owner was not prepared to see to the comfort of guests with replies such as fan is not on the listing, guests prefer to use or buy their own tea towel. Despite charging cleaning fees, in my case a double charge as a result of extending an extra night’s stay during booking, we were welcomed to a dirty, dry scrunched up chux!
- Chloe (5/5): Average - In a great location The extractor fan was broken, the windows wouldn't stay open due to being so old and damaged
The microwave wasn't clean and bits of food left splattered inside
- Wayne (6/5): Pleasant -
- Adriana (10/5): Exceptional - It was clean and comfortable. It's not a huge space, but it had everything you may need. I recommend it!
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable - Location is perfect. Bus stops and underground near. We often didn't have water to shower or wash our hands, and we didn't even mention that we never had hot water. The kitchen has no cooking utensils... nor wipes to remove food from the oven.
There are no paper towels in the apartment. There's only one roll of paper in the bathroom :/
The refrigerator doesn't work properly.
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - Clean, lots of facilities including clothes steamer, cooker, washing machine. You could stay for quite a while Stairs were steep with bags
- Jennifer (3/5): Poor -
- Anne (6/5): small place with super host - I was looking for a place near Business Design Centre, for my mum. This place was very close. Mum said the bed was so comfy. Nick is super and provides very high level service as a host. Grocery store accross the road, also several other options close by. The place is rather small but I have seen smaller rooms in London. I’m sure Nick will take care of the small shortcomings in the apartment and will find a handyman soon. Fixing all the small things would improve so much the experience. Also, would recommend to add a reading light/small lamp. The place is not soundproof. Because how the place smelt, I think it was not a non-smoking room.
- Daisy (9/5): I really liked staying at Nick's place! - I really liked staying at Nick's place. Enough room for one or two people to stay comfortably. The area was perfect as it was close to the Angel tube station as well as many bus lines. Check-in was easy - instructions were as clear-cut as can be. Would definitely recommend and stay again in the future!
- Jasmine (5/5): Passable - It was a good location, and self check in was easy enough. It wasn't very clean, on the last day just before checkout I discovered dried blood on the bedsheet which was not mine. It was also freezing cold at night and the curtains didn't cover the windows.
- Jodie (6/5): Basic but extremely clean - The bedsit was very clean, in fact spotless. It was basic but comfortable. It was in a great location - by the tube, restaurants, pubs and shops. We went to a gig at the O2 Islington which the bedsit was very near. A couple of small things could improve the stay like having a tea towel for instance and having blackout curtains.
- Daisy (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay! The flat was clean and tidy, bed was comfy. The host was responsive and friendly. I can recommend this place.
- Amir (7/5): Good -
- Claudia (7/5): Relaxing; any issues I communicated were promptly resolved - Location and studio set-up. Foul smell coming from the toilet pipes, no view from windows in room 3.
- Michele (4/5): Disappointing - The location was great. When I arrived, there was no hot water and no heating. Someone did come round later and fixed this issue, but this made my first few hours stressful and uncomfortable.
- Charles-antoine (7/5): Good location and good value for money, but not the most pleasant flat in town - The place is competitive price wise and nicely located. As I stated in a previous review, having stayed there before, the place is very basic and not particularly nice, but remains good value for money. No disappointment as I knew already the place. However, the code for the flat door did not work (they were very quick giving me keys, so this wasn't an issue eventually). Yet, I experienced two electricity cuts for no reasons - they sorted the first one and then it was too late when it happened again. This wasn't a major issue, but would have been pretty bad had I kept food in the fridge which stopped functionning...
- Daniel (7/5): Fantastic location, adequate accommodation for the price. - The location cannot be faulted. The shower is superb, (there was no hot water or heating when we arrived - but a message to the host had that resolved quickly - I messaged around 7.30, received a reply 30 minutes later that someone was being sent out to look at it, we were out and I was asked for permission for them to enter, when we returned at 11pm the heating was on and the hot water was working). The steamer for clothes is excellent. We didn't use it, but the washing machine could be really handy for those travelling around. Kitchen facilities are fine, (no oven or toaster, but I can see why as the fire alarm would probably be set off by absent minded guests). Once received the comminutions and instructions are very detailed. The door code came a lot later than advertised, and the phone number listed did not work, which caused a bit of panic on the day. However, I was sent it 2 hours before checking in. The door handle is a little odd, (hint don't turn the bit you enter the code, turn the part of it that flashes to say you have entered the correct code). Some small touches would elevate the flat. A couple of coat hooks on the door, a quick repaint of the flat and a shower mat would all improve this from 7 to 8. It certainly does not deserve the very low scores some reviewers have left.
- Will (7/5): Good -
- Anthony (1/5): Horrendous and harrowing - Absolute disgrace should never be allowed to rent out death and health trap Every thing!!!
- Nikolaos (6/5): Pleasant - It was freezing cold even with the heater on
- Abakar (8/5): Very good -
- Bryan (6/5): Comfy, basic, small, convenient - Very well placed for Islington. Small and cosy, decent kitchen and bathroom. Needs maintenance. Kitchen tap (top floor flat) is completely loose and moves a LOT as you use it. Shower is very hot or volcanic, couldn’t adjust to a safe temperature.
Bed springs are gone on one side. Collapses under you!
- Emanuele (6/5): Not that great, but it's fine if need to stay for a few days without needing many services. - Great position, I love Angel I wanted to stay there and it was very hard to find an accomadation, the price, on a relative wscale (London Scale) seems to me relatively affordable The apt is pretty small, so three people was managebale as far as the kid is only six. The secondo bedroom, was a mattress on the floor. Not very bice, btw.
- Hamamcıoğlu (2/5): not preferable - its clean and good location the heather works in the morning. so yhe afternoon and night its not warm enough and the shower is tooo hot to take.. kind a burned myself
- Steve (8/5): Convenient, comfortable, great value. - Location,Location, Locatiom. The apartment is 120 yards from the Business Design Center exhibuition and conference center. Max and Nick were helpful and attentive, the cost for the area was good and it was really accessible to Angel Tube and the busses. a wide range of restaurants and bars in the area. The locks are very sensitive to the point of being a problem. That's is it, the apartment was great other than that.
- Ali (1/5): Do not book this property. It should not be listed. - Location Security poor, bedsit in HMO not comfy one bed apartmen as described. Top floor room ....., fire risk, low water pressure, bathroom venting into bedroom, broken locks and communal door left open, people wandering round the building at night.
Not safe. Not pleasant.
- Jem (4/5): Good value but would not want to stay for more than one night. - Location was great and it was quiet and warm. Comms from host were good. The shower had a crack in the tray (crudely repaired) and did not drain properly and its temperature was difficult to control. The extractor fan from the shower/toilet discharged straight into the bedroom instead of outside the building.
The carpet in the bedroom just outside the bathroom door was wet and dirty. Several fittings (toilet roll holder, towel hooks) were loose/falling off the wall and the tap in the kitchen sink was loose.
The room was very cramped and you had to be careful not to bash your head on the sharp corner of the extractor unit above the stove (just by the door).
- Devin (10/5): Peaceful, quaint, and immersive- you really felt like a local staying in this location. - It was so quaint and in an amazing location! 5-10 min walk to the angel tube station, in the center of the shopping area surrounded by cute shops, restaurants and grocery stores. The only frustrating thing was other people in the building dont always lock the first door so it was often times open.
- Ciprian (8/5): Convenient and functional, but could improve on comfort. - I liked the small kitchenette, which was very convenient for preparing meals. The apartment also had a fairly large table, plenty of storage with a wardrobe and chest of drawers, and the bathroom was equipped with a shower. The sofa bed was not very comfortable, as the mattress was small and it took up a lot of space when extended. The apartment was too cold, which made it uncomfortable at times. The toilet area was very narrow, so it might not suit larger individuals. Additionally, the apartment is on the third floor, and the narrow staircase made it difficult to carry luggage up/down. Even though we paid a cleaning fee, we were still asked to wash the dishes and take out the garbage before leaving.
- Frankie (4/5): Very cramped and uncomfortable - Good location. Well-equipped and clean. Detailed information about self-check-in and smartlock system was useful, even if somewhat complicated! Tiny space - more like a bed-sit than a flat: one room with a tiny toilet/shower room at the side. Entrance to the building was dirty and shabby. While the 'flat' was clean, the walls were tired and paint was peeling off in one corner by the toilet. Washbasin was miniscule. Bed base was upholstered and ripped on one corner. Wardrobe handle was broken and smoke detector had become detached from the ceiling. Overall, very cramped and unable to relax here.
- Odaline (5/5): Not a nice place and overpriced for what it offered. - The location was good. Transport was good also There were issues with the doors - both entrance and upstairs doors. The caretaker was not very nice and when I tried to explain the issues we were having, he implied that I was not telling the truth.
The bathroom was not in good condition. The toilet paper holder was falling down. Something else on the bathroom wall was falling down. The shower was either hot or hotter, there was no medium temperature and you had to shower very carefully so you wouldn't scald yourself. The freezer compartment in the fridge did not freeze. There were no forks to eat with! We ate with spoons and knives! When you opened the wardrobe it almost fell down. The problems were endless and because of the caretaker's attitude we didn't contact him again.
- Amanda (5/5): Great location, disappointing accommodation - Great location bang in the middle of Islington The accommodation is not a 'flat' - rather a room with en suite & random kitchen appliances shoe horned in. Very tired bathroom, carpets & furniture. No ambient lighting.
- Anna (7/5): Good - Location was great, very convenient and easy check-in Flat was a little bit cold
- Gwénola (1/5): Should be removed from rental unless work and re-equipment - Only the location was ideal because it was located near a metro station. This apartment is to be avoided. It is indicated for 4 people even though it only includes one real bed for 2 people. The other bedding is just a mattress barely 1.5 meters long to which a wooden board has been added. There aren't even 4 forks in the kitchen for 4 people to eat. We see damp stains on the wall in the living room and the bathroom. The sheets were stained and the fridge, which had not even been emptied, contained opened and already started products (one might have thought they were welcome gifts but not even that!). Finally, we had a water problem with sometimes a complete cut-off or just a trickle of water, or even absence of hot water even though we had only taken one very quick shower, treated with contempt by the owner .
All for 812 Euros, a real shame.
- Edith (5/5): Great location + flexible check in process, but very small--would recommend for short stays only - Location was perfect and exactly what I needed for this particular trip. Host was helpful and allowed me to check in early which was ideal given I had an appointment at 4pm on the day I arrived. It was tiny which surprised me as it was listed as a flat. It's more like one small room with a tiny kitchenette and bed and small desk. I would not call this a flat personally.
- Leonie (6/5): Location and simplicity - Location was fabulous. In the heart of Islington close to shops and eateries.
Key system was secure and worked well There are 56 stairs to negotiate. Only a problem if carrying heavy bags.
Tiny but functional
Hot water was tricky but I’m sure the owner will sort it before the next guest.
- Jolly (8/5): Clean, comfortable and functional flat in a superb location at a very good price for central London. - Nick, the host, was responsive, communicative and helpful. The instructions to get into the property were detailed and precise. Ok, this is not a luxury flat, of course you would not expect that for this money in Islington. However, it is clean, comfortable and functional. It has all the amenities you could expect, fridge, cooker, microwave, washing machine, shower and the host has been thoughtful to leave everything that you might need in the room, including tea, coffee and cordial. There is an Amazon Fresh supermarket on the opposite side of the road which is open until 11pm. For somebody working for a few days in London, this could be a great little flat. The only things missing from the flat are a TV and a bedside lamp. I suggested to Nick that he might change the main ceiling light for a dimmable one, as it is pretty bright. I found the Wi-Fi very flaky, not good enough to stream a movie, as both the regular one and the EXT alternative kept dropping out. The hallway leading into the flat and up the stairs is a bit grubby, and it made me fear that the flat was going to be just as bad, but everything was fine once I was in the flat itself.
- Ivan (8/5): Very good -
- Rushda (3/5): Poor -
- Angela (2/5): The price was £168 pounds absolute rip off! and was not worth it! The photos did not match the description! - The shower The flat was above a boarded up shop… this was not mentioned in the description. Difficult to get in- spent 5 minutes working out how to unlock the door. Then an unwelcoming staircase up to the flat.. covered in children’s stickers. Dirty carpets in the corridor. With lots of wires hanging out over the fire exit signs. Opened the door into the flat… blinds were pulled down to hide construction and views in to another room. Wardrobe hanging off the wall. Microwave on the floor, washing machine did not work. Tv did not work. Extension leads on the floor so a trip hazard. Dirty floors and skirting boards. Scuff marks all over the walls and bedding was clean but years old! I have lots more photos to prove my description but can only give 4!
- Beth (10/5): Great value and excellent location. Host was extremely helpful - Excellent location
- Jon (7/5): Good -
- Daisy (9/5): Superb - Perfect distance to Angel underground and loads of local shops /restaurants and things to do. Had all the facilities we needed, was comfortable, easy to find and great price. Thanks, we had a great mini break in London.
- Ivy (9/5): Really fantastic place to stay! - Great stay near Angel tube station. Handy having the washing machine. This apartment was quiet. There is an Amazon fresh across the road and we cooked food in the oven. The dryer and steamer were handy. Nice places all around for food. The bed was comfy. We used Netflix too. Good value for London. I and my friend stayed. I recommend this place.
- Bujamin (9/5): Superb - Location To narrow
