Guest Reviews

- Vianney (10/5): -
- Ruth (8/5): We have stayed here before and enjoyed both expriences. -
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - The deluxe twin room was gorgeous, with a little balcony of its own. Supermarket very close by, tram and metro stations easy walking distance. Albert Cuyparlet just around the corner. The shop/cafe that Ninette and Paul run was nice and we also went for breakfast at the pub they own. All great!
- Stern (7/5): -
- MELIZE (10/5): A great place to come home - Wonderful
Space
- Martynas (10/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): Lovely comfortable apartment in quiet area. - Location was great. Quieter location but close to many food options. Stairs were steep and difficult to get up with suitcase. No air conditioning, which would only be an issue for a small amount of days per year.
- Dawn (10/5): Perfect in De Pijp! - This is a smashing place to stay for a few days in Amsterdam. The room was large and comfortable with all the amenities you need. Ninette is very welcoming and makes a delicious breakfast in her small cafe and gift shop. The location in De Pijp is great for places to eat and for sightseeing in Amsterdam. Highly recommended Nothing
- Mara (9/5): This is the absolute perfect stop to stay and visit the museums. Easy walk to market & restaurants. - Absolutely LOVE the flat!
So comfortable and the design details are creatively, artistically, modern and bohemian all at once.
So much thought & care involved in EVERY detail- The access stairs are tough...very steep.
Could not imagine getting our luggage up and down them...
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Hostess was lovely, room was large and well decorated, comfortable beds, two bottles of great wine available for purchase in the room. Could have used extra blankets.
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Kayla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dearbhla (8/5): Very good - Room size Small toilet
- Zorica (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and comfortable accommodation in a quiet location, yet close to the city center. It takes about 20 minutes on foot to reach the center. The surroundings are peaceful, perfect for a relaxing stay. Highly recommended!”
- Sonya (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): Clean, spacious and comfortable room. Good location in a quiet area but close to the action. - Located close to the city centre, just 15 minutes walk away. The room is spacious and comfortable, with exposed brick, nice old floorboards and plaster work on the ceiling. The radiators were off when we arrived, so the room was chilly, but they were easy to turn on and quickly warmed the room up. The reception area is directly across the road from the property, and the lady on reception was very nice and welcoming. Our room was on the first floor, so we only had to deal with one flight of Amsterdam's famously steep staircases. The shower was large with good water pressure and the beds were comfortable. The room and bathroom were very clean. I'd recommend staying here. Everything was fine.
- Jo (10/5): Delightful location, great location - Spacious room and bathroom, comfortable beds, great location
- Rufat (8/5): Very good -
- Dori (7/5): Good, can easily improve - The room is very nice, located in a good location.
The bed is good and the owners suggest a nice breakfast in the opposite building (extra payment).
Ninette is a very nice person. The water in the shower are not warm enough.
The windows are not sealed, so especially one night when there was a party, I could not sleep until after 0200
The steep stairs to carry the luggage.
- Raine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dermot (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raffaella (9/5): spens some days like a real amsterdamer - The studio was lovely, with a beautiful view on a garden. The area was lively and the Albert Cuypersreet market very close. The owners were very kind. A curtain was broken and they fixed immediately . Maybe the stairs are too narrow for elderly people or for too large luggage. The toilets too small for someone with long legs
- Susannah (10/5): Perfect. Would definitely stay here again! - Excellent hostess and beautiful amenities. Best night's sleep I had my entire stay in Europe! Very walkable location and nice to be away from the crowds.
- Lucy (1/5): Beware: Discriminatory and Greedy Hotel - Nothing If you value your comfort, dignity, and physical well-being, avoid this hotel at all costs. My experience here was nothing short of a nightmare. First and foremost, they will blame you for not disclosing your disability in advance, despite not providing any information about their extremely steep stairs on their website or Booking.com listing. Even the first floor is only accessible via steep steps, making it impossible for anyone with mobility issues to stay here comfortably.
To make matters worse, they sent a single sentence warning about the stairs in an email the day before my arrival—while I was already traveling. By the time I saw it, it was too late to cancel. I tried to tough it out, even getting help to carry my luggage up to the third floor, but after just one day, it was clear that staying any longer was impossible.
When I brought this up with the owner's son and the receptionist, their response was appalling. They had the audacity to tell me, a tourist, that I should have known better because "it’s Amsterdam and they all have stairs." This dismissive and condescending attitude is unacceptable.
I quickly found a real hotel with elevators just 10 minutes away. The owners of this establishment are greedy and discriminatory, caring more about their profits than the well-being of their guests. Don't ever stay here. Save yourself the trouble and find a hotel that actually respects and accommodates its guests.
- Ruth (9/5): Superb - We loved the friendly reception and the spacious rooms, very convenient position and location
- Julie (7/5): Lovely room in great neighborhood but with some challenges for some people - The vast room in this classic Victorian flat was beautiful and looked out on a leafy street. Good bed, room well furnished. It included a study area/separate room. It's like having your own apartment. It's in a great location and very reasonably priced. Note: my bathroom was down the hall shared with other guests--but there weren't any other people staying that night. May NOT suitable for someone who has trouble with stairs. The staircase up to my room was very steep and narrow. It's possible there is a unit on the ground floor--I suggest asking for that in advance of booking if this is a problem for you. Also this hotel was listed on booking.com as including an airport taxi. That's one of the main reasons i booked it. The owners did book a reliable taxi for me--but in fact it was not included in the price. I think this is an issue caused by mislabeling by booking.com--not the owners who seem very nice.
- Domenica (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Great location with lots of room. - Great location, close to the local tram stop as well as multiple restaurants, with a grocery store across the street. The rooms are very spacious with great natural lighting. The wall of windows in the bedroom had a door to access the balcony, which was nice to have to enjoy the later evenings. It was nice to have the coffee machine and kettle with supplies in the room. The large couch was comfortable and the mini fridge convenient. The host was very friendly and helpful. Could have used 2 bed pillows per person. The mattress was average. Sleeping with the duvet was very hot. Synthetic vs natural???
Not the most convenient having to leave the room to access the toilet (in a closet sized room) and the shower area. However, we knew these were located outside of the room ahead of time, as it was listed in the description.
- Ellen (8/5): Very good -
- Tana (10/5): Exceptional - I loved our stay! Room (or should I say apartment!) was spacious and unique. We had a whole floor to ourselves. Neighborhood was quiet and picturesque and easily accessible by multiple tram lines. The listing does not do it justice. This will be my first choice of accommodation next time I am in Amsterdam!
- Lisa (10/5): Quiet location, spacious space with a lot of nice natural light! Great place to stay! - Spacious and nice decor, great location and close to Albert Cuyp Market which we enjoyed daily. Paul and Ninette are both very helpful.
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (10/5): Lovely, bright space - Spacious, clean, lovely, comfortable, bright studio. Lovely bathroom and shower, No complaints at all. Will be back Nothing
- Noa (9/5): Superb - Rooms were really big and specious for location of the rooms. We appreciated the location and it closeness to many main tourist locations. We love walking and felt safe and that apartment was so close to everything we wanted to explore.
We loved the coffee shop as their reception. One of the apartment water were not warm enough.
Stairs as mentioned not easy for some people with suitcases but worth it anyway because the rooms are wonderful!
- Natania (9/5): Superb -
- Jaspa (10/5): I really enjoyed my stay here. I felt like a princess. Perfcet location in the heart. Walking distance every were. Thank - I love how I felt like a princess I couldn’t open the balcony
- Saeed (8/5): Very good -
- Therese (8/5): Very good -
- Tanya (9/5): Was a lovely place to stay.. - It’s got a great vibe and rooms are spacious Having to get your suitcase up steep stairs.
- John (9/5): Fun place, lovely people, comfortable room and a great location. - The people and room are delightful! The stairs were daunting for an older couple. We wished we had read the description more carefully and thought to write ahead and let them know this would be an issue. They so graciously helped us get it figured out, though.
- Anna (10/5): Great place! - Amazing apartments, very conveniently located; spacious and bright; comfortable bed; welcoming host and, just next to it reception area with delicious coffee or 5min walk a nice cafe/bar with food and drinks. What else is needed for great stay in Amsterdam? All was perfect
- Alessio (9/5): Superb -
- Hasan (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): Would gladly stay again - The room was very big, the beds were comfortable and the room was flooded with natural light. There were large windows at either end but the blackout curtains provided privacy. Good access to a grocery store and restaurants The other reviews about the stairs were accurate-they are steep and narrow. The Booking.com ad says that breakfast is provided-that is inaccurate.
- Louisa (7/5): Good - Beautiful room, nice quiet location My room was a 3rd floor walkup so it was warm and with no screens or mosquito nets for the windows and no AC. Needed to open the windows and the fan was not adequate to keep the mosquitoes away.
- Panagiotis (8/5): Very good - Very elegant appartment in nice place with a nice balkony looking at a garden with cherise trees WC and bqthroom were separate from the appartment
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Skoritsch (10/5): 10/10. When we make our way back to Amsterdam we will be staying at nine(T)teen again!! - Owners breakfast spot is under a 10 min walk towards city centre, it was lovely! Across the street from our apartment is the owners cafe and wine shop. Every morning we would walk over and start our day with a cappuccino and sit outside. Beautiful spot! Location is perfect. Close to our all favourite areas for food, shopping and drinks. Far from all the rowdy tourists that tend to be right in the city centre. Enjoyed sitting on our little balcony every night as the sun went down with a glass of wine. Wifi wasn’t the best, my husband and I continued to use our data during our stay.
- Laura (9/5): Lovely stay for a quick weekend! - Lovely welcome at the cafè. Room very clean and has everything you need for a short stay. Walking distance to trams and bike hire very handy! Lack of double glazed windows for a quiet sleep (student area), steep stairs so no good for poor mobility however didn't affect our stay at all.
- Nikki (10/5): Exceptional - Paul and Ninette were lovely hosts. Our room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Nespresso machine in the room was fantastic for those early morning wake ups fresh Croissants from Bij Paul were delicious.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Magdalena (7/5): Comfortable and spacious apartament, unfortunately with very steep stairs -
- Paul (7/5): Good - Location was great. 5 min walk to tram. LIDL was 1 minute walk. Room was very spacious. Bathroom and WC separate. No key available upon arrival after 5.00pm. No breakfast at B&B was very annoying especially given the price paid. Very steep stairs for room access with poor lighting.
- Caroline (8/5): Would be perfect if it wasn’t for the noise. Thank you - It’s beautiful 😍
Really great staff
The cafe and breakfast cafe were lovely We didn’t sleep very well. It is very very noisy from the apartment upstairs.
My shower was cold this morning.
- Dmytro (9/5): Superb -
- Sinan (10/5): Exceptional - Location was really good, very close to supermarkets, restaurants and open bazaar in Amsterdam.
Rooms are large and clean. They also helped us about airport transfer Bathroom was a bit cold for winter
- Jonyngvi (7/5): See comments above - The room itself was excellent, spacious and cozy. Our main complaint is that the bathroom and toilet were not en-suite. We had to go out of the room and into a corridor to access them. We were not informed of this upon our booking. The hall was also used by other guests and the owner's family, who lived on the floor below.
Another thing we were not satisfied with was the sparse heating. The bedroom and living room were quite cold during our stay.
The last thing we would like to mention is that hostel's owner hosted a party on the night of our arrival. It was quite loud and lasted until midnight. We understand that people are allowed to host parties in their homes; however, if your home is part of a property where you run a hostel, it would be polite to end the party at a reasonable hour.
- S (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amir-kamran (8/5): Very good -
- Barbara (10/5): felt like a home away from home in the most beautiful city - convenient walking distance to shops, museums, center. beautiful comfortable rooms, excellant bed! a little noisy in the early hours but mainly on the weekend
- Tomás (10/5): Exceptional -
- Turki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (9/5): Wonderful location and a quiet, clean room. - Big wonderful room with huge windows on both sides and a great little balcony. Everything was clean and bathrooms are modern. I really enjoyed this place but a couple things to note. It's listed as a Bed & Breakfast, but Breakfast is not included. The cage across the street serves breakfast for a fee, bit it is lovely and the food is delicious.
Bathrooms are separate. One has just the toilet, and the other one across the room has the shower.
- Patrick (8/5): Great location and exceptional rooms and facilities. Bigger than some apartments in Amsterdam! - Room and location were a great break from epic journey to Netherlands. Once you're up the stairs!
The staff were friendly and helpful. I was able to get groceries locally and there's a lot of markets and restaurants nearbye. There's a major renovation across the road. This is only temporary, and outside anyone's control, but the skips truck arrives very early and, well, it's a strip out/rebuild, so there's a lot of noise. Most of Amsterdam seems to have this feature now. It's everywhere..
- Elin (10/5): Thank you Ninette! - Very beautiful place
Clean
Spacious wardrobes
Great bathroom
Bathrobe was nice
Mini bar with wine
The host was great, very friendly and helpful.
Everything was perfect :)
- Ben (9/5): I loved my time there and look forward to booking again. - The location was amazing and the property was great. I had a large room with 2 bathrooms (1 for toilet and 1 for a huge walk in shower). It looked as if the bathrooms were recently upgraded. the room was very clean, included a fridge and plenty of towels for me.
at first I wasn’t clear where the reception area was (it’s right across the street), but it was a cute cafe with delicious food prepared for by the owners. they were lovely people.
I was also able to rent a bike from them which was very convenient. the stairs getting up are steep! good to be aware of before booking. unless you’re unable to navigate the stairs, it shouldn’t stop you from staying there.
