- Jean (10/5): - Wendy nous a préparé de succulents déjeuners
- Carrie (10/5): - Property was gorgeous and our hostess, Wendy, was great!
- Hammond (9/5): Superb -
- Gwen (9/5): Gorgeous views and comfortable accommodations in a perfect location. - The host was warm and interesting. The room was very comfortable. The complimentary snacks and wine are lovely touches. The view is gorgeous. The couple we ate breakfast with was very friendly and interesting. Would have liked different toiletries and more hooks for towels etc. Some fresh fruit or vegetables at breakfast would have been a bonus, as well as a little menu/preview of the food to be served.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (10/5): Great get-away - Host, breakfast, location, quiet I needed more instruction to work shower and mirror.
- Dale (10/5): Top accommodation in notl - Excellent Coffee wasnt hot enough for me
- Angela (9/5): Enjoyable stay in a spacious room in picturesque location overlooking the lake - Picturesque location with lovely view from the spacious room. Breakfast was a huge spread, more like brunch. Friendly and welcoming staff. The price was rather high but this was probably due to the timing as it was during the eclipse.
The breakfast was delicious, but a bit heavy on pastries, with croissants and custard tarts, but no toast.
- Nicola (10/5): A perfect break - There are so many things to say about this property. However I have had to shorten review as ran out of space!
Firstly, if you are looking and wondering if it is worth it and should you book - do book, it is worth it.
My husband and I wanted something in the region as a base for wine tasting, the falls etc. I wanted some space and didn’t want a hotel room. Somerset was perfect.
Many reviews refer to Darren - he is just lovely and so welcoming. Nothing is a problem and generally he is a joy to chat with and has such an interesting background.
The room was lovely and large, beautifully decorated and with a terrace to sit out on. There is a large common area downstairs. What is so special about Somerset is the large lawn down onto the lakefront. Sitting down there was lovely and my husband even talked me into a swim on one of the days. Very much well worth it and I think a special thing to do - looking at out Fort Erie.
Breakfast is a tour de force. Just to note, breakfast is at 9am and sitting with the other guests. I didn’t realise when I booked so was a little surprised however - if you need breakfast earlier I am sure Darren would assist - but other than this - do it. The other guests were a total joy to chat to in the morning - swapping stories as to where you are from, what you have done and where you are going. It was such a pleasant surprise that I was not expecting and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was exceptional - come hungry - there were pastries, freshly baked bread and a lovely cooked breakfast to boot. Each day was totally different and totally tasty.
Some other reviews mentioned taking your shoes off and how they don’t appreciate it. Personally I didn’t care about that and actually, this is a lovely house and not traipsing through dirt etc is a good thing and it makes it all feel more homely. The location was excellent right in the middle of it all.
We would go back in a heartbeat. There isn’t anything. Darren was a wonderful host and really helpful. I struggle to think of anything to say that we disliked.
- Bradford (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): A stunning location - Darren was an exceptional host and made us feel right at home. The property is on the waterfront with views across the river to old fort Niagara. Breakfast was a feast every morning and varied and interesting. We would love to return. Everything was perfect
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Stunningly sited, purpose-built luxury inn on the Niagra River - Stunningly sited waterfront at the mouth of the Niagra River looking across at Fort Niagra in NY and sweeping views of Lake Ontario. Very well decorated and exceptionally large and luxurious suites with separate living areas and private outdoor porches are great for couples to enjoy early morning teas or wine hours. A full and well prepared breakfast every morning. There is no downside here - If I try to find something I would say that the adjacent waterfront public park to the east, although well-screened by dense landscaping, is very popular with visitors on the weekend days with nice weather or holidays, so there was some happy people noise impact with picnickers during the day.
- Ati (9/5): Superb -

- Sima (9/5): Superb -
- Claudia (10/5): Even though we only stayed 2 nights, it felt like we were away a week. So calming, thanks Darren - The setting right on the water is breathtaking, you can view the lake while showering. You are steps away from a trail that goes along the golf course & water. Our host was gracious, genuine and had lots of information to share to make it a great stay & experience. His breakfasts were unbelievable, we were not expecting this. Every attention to detail shows throughout the property. We can't wait to return! Thanks Darren There really isn't anything not to like. Picture perfect setting, amazing host, location and property
