- Emily (8/5): - Amazing beach Limited dinner options
- Natalie (9/5): - The staff was so wonderful! Everyone was very helpful and so kind. The rooms were comfy and good a/c to cool the rooms at night. Beautiful beach, although waves were very strong when we were there. So quiet and peaceful, the only sound is usually birds. And the bar and restaurant are great. It didn't bother us that much, but the showers are cold water only. We just switched to shower in the afternoon while it was still hot!
- Renske (9/5): Fantastic! - Very nice room, the photos don't do justice! The location is amazing; very remote and magical on one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. This was the highlight of our trip! Food is great and the staff is really nice, friendly and helpful. You could really tell that this place is managed by a family. Drinks were quite expensive.

- Tina (8/5): Paradise - The place is super secluded and located on a great beach. We loved the exotic surroundings—lots of birds! The vibe was really relaxed and uncrowded, and the room had everything we needed (water, coffee, etc.). The food at the restaurant was pretty basic and way too expensive for what you get. We highly recommend walking down the beach to the Sunset restaurant instead—much better value! Also, be aware the showers are cold water only, and they make you turn the A/C off when you leave the room, which is a pain because it takes forever to cool down again.
Rien
- Maguire (10/5): Rare place to find!! Truly a hidden gem. - This property has a wonderful history. It is a family run property and we were welcomed with open arms. Every morning we would wake up to the sounds of Toucans, Macaws and hundreds of other exotic birds. We even had a Tapir visit our place one evening. The drinks were amazing and the food was good and very reasonably priced. The beach was amazing and swimming was great. If you want something very special and romantic, this is heaven!!!
- Mette (4/5): - Midt i junglen - fantastisk natur Meget simple hytter. Meget simpel men fin mad.
Meget laid back - små ting kunne have gjort stedet mere æstestisk og indbydende,
- Mateusz (9/5): - * Owner (Sam) was incredibly helpful and responsive.
* Very secluded location, at a much better beach than the one in the town.
* Spacious room.
* Wild life all around you. * The restaurant in the hotel was like a school canteen, food was edible but not something you actually want to have.
* The drive to the town was quite long and the route to the hotel (From the main road) was just horrible - we had 4x4 but it was impassable during (or after) the rain.
- Nina (10/5): Kinkajoungalows - A dream by the sea - Kinkajoungalows is more than just an accommodation — it’s an experience that stays with you after you leave. Set along a long, quiet beach, it offers endless space to find your own private corner, where time slows down and the world feels wonderfully simple. The cabins are cozy, clean and very comfortable. You’re constantly surrounded by nature, with many visitors stopping by — from monkeys and toucans to colorful birds and curious squirrels, making every day feel alive and magical. From the moment you wake up until the end of the day, there is nothing you need to worry about — breakfast, lunch, dinner and tours are available, allowing you to truly relax.
What makes Kinkajoungalows unforgettable is the heart behind it. Samuel and his family are exceptional hosts whose care and attention truly make the difference. From arrival to departure, you are genuinely cared for.
This place — and the spirit behind it — will always have a special place in my heart. A rare gem that I will never forget. 🌊✨
- Ellie (9/5): - Fabulous location, immersed in the jungle, right on the beach and a long way from the crowds! Lots of birds and wildlife to see and nice walks from the cabinas. Samuel and the team were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Everything was arranged for us, Samuel also arranged a trip to the national park for us with a great local guide, really worth doing. The rooms were comfortable and the food was tasty and healthy.
Just for information - in low season there are no other restaurant/ soda options in the area and the nearest shop is around a 45 min - 1 hour walk away.
- Guest (9/5): - Amazing location in a very remote area. Fell like you are on the edge of the world Having to carry so much cash to pay the bill without a significant fee.
Absolut empfehlenswert! Pura vida!
- Bina (10/5): - Incredibly beautiful location with a jungle feel right on the beach. The Amaya family and everyone involved are kind and very well organized - not used to such all-round service when traveling, we felt truly spoiled.
- Aatrayee (8/5): Very good -
- Stefanie (10/5): Amazing! - Sam and the Amaya family gave us a very warm welcome and we felt at home right from the moment we arrived. The bungalows are situated on the beautiful Playa Rincon with the possibility to do several hikes to other beaches and the jungle where we saw a lot of wildlife. The delicious food and the great vibes made this our favorite stop on our trip through Costa Rica! We can recommend this to anyone and would come back anytime!
Thank you to the Amaya family and the team! -
- Penny (10/5): A True Poor Man's Paradise! - We have been home 2 weeks but we are still dreaming about our stay at Kinkajoungalows. From start to finish the stay was perfect. A welcome committee of strong men met our boat from Sierpe to help with our luggage. We were looked after like this for the whole of our stay by the perfect hosts. The family team never imposed on our privacy and were very discreet but were always available when we needed any help. Samuel was incredibly helpful and responsive providing answers to all our questions. The lovely little bungalows are well positioned for each guests privacy and with balconies overlooking the jungles.Just sitting on the balcony we saw Monkeys, Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, a Tapir and an anteater.
The rooms are perfectly comfortable , nicely decorated and very well equipped.
We loved the location just a few steps from a secluded paradise beach, where you could lay in a hammock to enjoy a cocktail and watch the fabulous sunsets. We didn't venture very far as the immediate area was so wonderful that we didn't want to to rush around,. We wanted to enjoy the relaxed mood and savour the moment. We simply relaxed , enjoyed the simple home cooked food., ad being looked after by the staff. We are now desperate to return and hope to have the opportunity to spend more time there to further explore the area, or simply enjoy this very special place ! A thank you to Kenya who helped me out by giving me a tube of Aloe Vera Gel when I stupidly got sunburnt on the snorkeling trip to Canos islands. Nothing
- Erica (9/5): Amazing Location in Drake Bay - If you're looking for a location right on the beach, immersed in the rain forest, then this is it. Kinkajoungalows is the most amazing base from which to explore Drake Bay. The accommodation is clean and the grounds were beautiful. We saw so much wildlife just from our balcony. The staff are all very friendly. I highly recommend the horseback riding there and also get a massage! Bliss after a long day of adventuring! This is a bit beyond their control. Because of its remote location, the only option we had for dining was on the premises. However, the food is tasty and reasonable. Taxi rides into town are also very expensive - USD$50 one way.
- Tamara (9/5): We recommend the place to chill , rewind , enjoy and enjoy tje nature - Location is great ! Villa is very spacious and comfortable, nice big beds ! Everything is there what you need
Great sunsets and super bar , we danced Salsa merengue and bachata with everybody
The food in the restaurant was the fist days not so special, but the tuna was delicious on our last day
The staff ( Adrian , Samuel family his wife daughter and the people working there all very sympathetic) Adrian helped us a lot with the tour
. All was nice
- Leah (10/5): Warm hospitality and tranquility in lush natural beauty. - Gorgeous location where the jungle meets the ocean. Samuel, his family and staff did an amazing job of making us comfortable in such a remote place. Our cabin was large and airy, equipped with fans to keep us cool. The bed was comfortable and the kitchenette seemed well-equipped, although we didn’t test it with any actual cooking. Meals were simple, fresh, and healthy, and our bartender Wendy made deliciously creamy maracuya (passion fruit) daiquiris. We saw toucans and scarlet macaws onsite, and on nearby forest paths we saw a sloth, an anteater, and groups of Capuchin monkeys. It was all good.
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional - Sam and his family were really welcoming. We loved staying there. The bungalow was surrounded by nature and so close to the beach. The food was very nice too.
Would highly recommend :-)
- Brooke (10/5): Exceptional - This property is beautiful. I loved how it is right by beach, literally from my bungalow to the beach was a 1 minute walk. The rooms are spacious and clean, I loved the large front porch where you can sit outside and enjoy coffee or read and watch all the wildlife. This place is also run by a native tico family, and they make you feel like you are at home. There is a restaurant and bar on the property with great food and drinks!! You can grab a mojito and chill in the hammocks by the beach to watch the amazing sunsets. A little tip I would say is it bring cash because you will need it for boat rides and it’s better to pay for tours and food with cash to save some money on taxes. The WiFi is not the fastest speed but I was able to work completely fine from it. I would definitely recommend staying here, this place is absolutely gorgeous.
- Jack (10/5): A memorable experience. One of my favourite places in Costa Rica - My stay at Kinkajoungalows was very special thanks to Sam and his amazing colleagues. The boat journey from Sierpe was an incredible adventure, the cabin was comfortable and clean (the shower has hot water too!!!) the restaurant served healthy traditional food at a very reasonable price, and on top of all of this.. the beach was just a few steps away from my cabin (and I had the whole beach to myself). I also had a family of monkeys swinging in the trees outside my cabin window, it was a real jungle experience! Nothing. Only after getting there did I realise I wish I was staying longer!
