Guest Reviews
- Robyn (1/5): NOT A WINE EXPERIENCE, BASIC ACCOMMODATION AT LUXURY PRICES - The hot water was plentiful and strong, the bed was comfortable. Everything. Basic accommodation for a luxury price. 2 stars at best. No bedside tables or lamps, no cupboard to hang clothes in bedroom. No mat at feet to get out of bed but a hard, cold cement floor. No smart TV so no streaming. No firewood for outdoor fire pit. No tissue boxes, it's the small things that make a great place. No welcome bottle of wine from the winery, plus the tasting room was not open, no special tasting for guests staying at the property. We could have been staying anywhere but this was no wine experience we have ever had before. No amenities in the kitchen, not even a bottle of salt & pepper. Last straw we are out in the country, so no lights the first night the gate lights & a tree was lit up so we could find the entry way coming back from dinner, but the second night they were all shut off and it was very difficult to find the drive way.
- Lauren (7/5): Good - The accommodation itself was lovely – beautifully presented with a great view and all the amenities you could need for a comfortable stay There were a couple of issues that impacted our experience. The biggest concern was the noise from the separate upstairs accommodation. There is no soundproofing between the levels, so we could hear every footstep, creak, and movement from above. This is something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper or value peace and quiet. Additionally, the curtains in the room were too short, which meant the room didn’t get very dark.
- Leanne (8/5): Lovely view but another set of guests there at same time - Lovely location and view. Next to the cellar door. The Mortimer family were lovely when we met them at the cellar door. Lounge was very uncomfortable, almost unusable. Not supportive enough so you would collapse into the middle of the lounge and the cushions would slowly slide out from under you.
Curtains did not cover the windows completely so there are gaps and they are also white so let a lot of light through in the mornings.
It wasn't clear from this listing that the unit was part of a set of two so there were guests staying above us who were a bit noisy. You could hear all their conversations and every time they walked around it reverberates through our ceiling.
- Claire (8/5): Beautiful but lacks some practicalities - Beautiful, idillic spot overlooking the vineyard. The open plan studio is best suited to a couple. Air conditioned for comfort in any season. Small kitchen is equipped with the basics if you feel like eating in.
Everyrhing is modern, including the bathroom. Combined bath/shower with good water pressure. There are signs indicating tank water. The towels are nice and big.
There is a firepit but if you wish to purchase kindling from them it's $65. We bought our own in town for $18 a bag.
There's a short path through the bush to the cellar door where we enjoyed a lovely tasting.
It's about 10 minutes into town, close while still having some solitude. We caught an uber back from dinner one night for about $18. We did have at least one winery tour say they wouldn't pick us up from there but we found a driver on airtasker who took us out for the day. We found it really strange that the curtains didn't fit the windows when drawn. Bit disconcerting with the uncovered window having a clear view of the bed.
There also weren't any bedside tables and having your things on the floor feels more hostel than luxury.
The studio is directly beneath another apartment and you can hear pretty much everything they do, including the TV. That ruined the peaceful, romantic vibe a little bit.
When we were leaving we did our customary check under the bed and found a bottle of lube from a previous guest.
- Tan-phu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brett (7/5): great - THE location was handy to town & other destinations, peaceful the pillows
- Kevin (8/5): Orange is a great destination . - Fire pit and setting.
Gas fire inside. Having a kitchen is good. Drink decaf but had Nespresso machine bought own pods. Didn’t realise from pics that another unit was above. Bit noisy as they walk through.
A few kilometres from centre of town Car needed. Need to buy timber for outdoor fire. ( and bring marshmallows)
- Mahrukh (8/5): Very good - Clean and had @ most” of the expected facilities In extreme heat and with no airconditioning the single ceiling fan in the bedroom was inadequate Better directions to the property in advance would have saved us walking around in the heat too. The dog is let loose and barked for long periods at night and scratched the door wanting to be let in
- Karuntarat (10/5): Great place to stay - Beautiful location. Got everything we need.
Love playing with Archie. Nothing
- Louise (10/5): A lovely place to enjoy slow mornings and leisurely afternoon looking out over the vineyard - The outlook was lovely Footsteps a little noisy when someone was staying above us, if you are very noise sensitive
- Tonie (9/5): Excellent hosts relaxing weekend - Lovely quiet setting with views over the vineyards Nothing
- Carl (10/5): Extremely peaceful place to stay. Would definitely stay there again - The Mortimer family were extremely nice and welcoming when we met them at the cellar door. The studio is beautifully set overlooking the vines. It had all the facilities required for a comfortable stay and it was especially nice having a fire at sunset.
- Claire (10/5): Country paradise - Absolutely perfect getaway and the location was amazing. About a 10 min drive from the main town but still close enough to feel like you’re in the heart of the city.
The hosts were lovely, genuine and own the cutest winery. We loved the fire pit and stargazing at night.. a little bit of country paradise just outside of the city. Nothing.
