• Petra (6/5): - Michael ist ein bemühter aber eigenwilliger Gastgeber, der seine Räumlichkeiten anbietet. Für mich hat es leider nicht gepasst, ich habe augenscheinlich mehr erwartet. Das Ambiente, ich habe noch nie eine Buchung mit Frühstück gehabt, bei der ich das Geschirr anschließend selbst in den Geschirrspüler stellen sollte. WLAN war im Gästezimmer nicht zu empfangen.

The mattress was awful. 3. The bedding was of poor quality and worn out. 4. No bedside table, no lamps and no refreshment facilities. 5. Inadequate mirror and vanity facilities. 6. Shared bathroom on the floor below. 7. Bathroom was not clean; shower (water pressure pathetic) looked like it had not been cleaned in months and had visible black mould. 8. Bath mat needed washing. Questionable as to how long this had not been done. 9. Sink was not clean. 10. Upon arrival to the attic windows were closed and radiator on; room unbearably warm and stuffy. 11. Host needs to seriously improve the overall experience . 12. This stay is sub-standard and not worth £91.00. We did not feel welcome. Why do people who rent out rooms constantly give the impression that they would rather you were not staying.

• Efua (10/5): - Everything was perfect, the host was very professional, property was exactly what it looked like Everything was perfect, was absolutely nothing to dislike
• Miles (10/5): Excellent, in the future when we stay in London we’ll be staying with Michael. As long as he’ll have us of course. - Michael and his girlfriend were fantastic hosts they are both lovely and really accommodating. Not to mention he cooks a mean breakfast that sets you up ready for the day. Also they have a beautiful home we loved their pineapple lampshades. The only 2 small things that I personally didn’t like, was I like more pillows, but I didn’t ask for any so that’s on me. And the plug sockets are so far away from the bed, but that’s only because the guest room is so spacious. Not complaints just considerations.
• Stephen (1/5): Dreadful doesn't begin to describe it! - It was a 10 minute walk from where I needed to be. I chose this because it was close to where i was working the next day but it was a major disappointment. The room had a lumpy uncomfortable double bed cheap lumpy pillows and a hanging rail, no bedsise cabinet or desk. Towels provided were rough and probably only fit for washing a floor. Owner said he would give me wifi password and never did. Bathroom was shared with other visitors and not always vacant when needed. Had to practically beg for water. He berated me as I had a cigarette (my first and only one of the day as im a very light smoker)before entering the building and whilst I understand there is no smoking on the premises his notion of not allowing anyone who smokes to enter his property is frankly ridiculous. I had to agtee not to leave the property for the duration in case i dared to smoke again. He claimed he could smell the smoke on me from across a 20 ft corridor through 2 closed doors and still banging on about it the following day. No breakfast offered despite being included in the price. This guy needs to go to charm school as he has zero people skills.

• Natalia (3/5): Poor - Owner was very communicative and helpful This was first time we didn’t stay in the property and left after 30 mins. House was just too dirty, on one of the beds there were black, short hair and duvets were very used and on second bed, there were blood marks on the sheets. We just left and went to hotel nearby because cleaning standard of property was too low. Fair enough- price was very low but it didn’t work out of us!

The owner gave us 15 minutes grace before deciding if we wanted to stay. And was understanding when we left. The price was very reasonable. The bedroom door had no lock. Immediate street parking was permit from early morning until 6:30pm, although we were told that there was street parking further away. The owner likes guests to remove their shoes on arrival and leave them downstairs. The loft room was clean but sparse with the only furniture being the bed. It would be much improved with bedside tables, lamps, seats/chairs, a rug and kettle. There were no locks on the bedroom door, which was an absolute no from us, and we decided not to stay.

• Flynn (1/5): Worst experience ever! - It was not dirty. As seen in the other reviews. I will get a response from the house owner full of lies, but here it goes. Before arriving in the airplane we started getting weird texts by the owner. When arriving the owner immediately said that we should cancel (he asked if I smoke and I said yes sometimes but not at home and he got angry). There are no locks on the room and there is also no breakfast. I had to leave for a work emergency. My girlfriend had to stay alone because she had to work in London on Monday. We communicated this, but Michael started acting rather intimidating. Saying that they should talk and that she was nervous (she was indeed). Then he told her to leave the Airbnb early in the morning. (We had two days left). He told her to go downstairs again and started to question our relationship and telling her that she could not invite other men over (this was not the case at all, I overheard all of this as she was recording so I can prove). She decided to leave in the middle of the night because it was a very uncomfortable situation with a owner who probably does this as a scam, so he gets the money and doesn’t have anyone in the house. Do not book here. Overall the worst stay we had. No locks; weird owner who intimidates

• Hernani (2/5): Very poor - Clean house. Normally I avoid choosing shared residences, however I ended up deciding to give it a chance as it accepted pets and the photos of the residence were beautiful. However, it was the worst stay experience I have ever had. Upon arriving at the residence, the owner welcomed us and my dog. He went to show the house, rooms and told us what could be used. I noticed that the house had carpets and informed the owner about my pet ending up peeing on them and how to proceed. In a somewhat rude way, he asked me why my dog wasn't trained, as if it were an obligation. I mentioned that my dog was taught to do it on his toilet mat, however in the presence of mats he didn't always do it correctly. He asked to keep him locked in the room to avoid ruining his carpets. I did so and we went out to dinner. During dinner, the owner of the residence sent videos of my dog barking non-stop. It was the first time he had behaved like that. I apologized and said I was coming back. Another time the owner sent a video of him barking and said he couldn't stay like that for another day and that he had to respect the neighbors. I told him that when we were in the house he wouldn't bark. He said that my dog had an anxiety problem when being around his owner, however in our house this does not happen. He isn't trapped in a room and was finding the situation strange. The owner came several times to compare his dog, which was supposedly trained. That he knew how to do his business outside the house. That he didn't bark when he went out, etc. Showing a certain air of superiority for having a trained dog. When I got home I called booking to report that the owner wasn't going to accept it that way. He says he accepts dogs, however anything that showed that there was a non-quiet and 100% obedient dog was not to his liking. During the call, I reported everything that had happened and that the owner did not want to maintain our stay.

• Slartibart (7/5): Good - Beautiful house with large bedroom and shared bathroom in a quiet area Far away from a tube stop (however there two bus stops nearby) and from the centre, breakfast was advertised but available only at 9:30, the bedroom was lightly furnished with no bedside light and table

• Veronika (7/5): Good - The owner was very communicative, made everything clear, and we did not have to worry about sharing the house. It was exactly what you would expect when you stay at someone's house. The owner made sure we were comfortable and not afraid to use the facilities. Breakfasts were very good. We always settled ahead of time what we would like to eat. It is a 15-20-minute walk to the tube, or you can take the bus to take you there. We also used the bus to take us to DLR (train). Good conection to the city. Very good and quiet spot.

• Peter (8/5): Great value for money - My wife and I only booked in for an overnight stop and the host was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had our elderly lurcher dog with us and she was made equally welcome. Our stay was brief and we didn't have time to take advantage of what looked to be a delicious full English breakfast. On street parking near the property wasn't a problem (free between 6pm and 8am), and there was on street paid parking nearby after 8am. Although shared, the bathroom was also very nice. The room we stayed in only had the bare essentials (double bed and a hanging rack) so I wouldn't say it was suitable for an extended stay. But given the very modest cost of the room and what was offered, this property was exceptionally good value for money.
• Laila (1/5): Bad - I arrived to the property and told me to cancel the reservation and I’ll get a refund back and till today I still have not got a refund. He was very rude and disrespectful after contacting him about the refund. He told me to stop messaging him and told me to shut up.

• Carla (7/5): Good - - We felt that the room was private and actually very ample - we paid for a smaller room but they upgraded us for free because they needed the room for a relative, which is very appreciated. - We were not aware of the fact that there are two addresses that are the same when we booked the accommodation, and because we were attending an event in central London, we ended up having to return at 5am because of the transport (took us 1,5 hours to get back), which Michael was understanding with when we explained him in advance. - The entrance wasn’t independent, so we got a bit stressed about the fact that the tube was delayed, knowing that the family was waiting for us for the check-in. - We booked the accommodation including the breakfast but this was not offered at any point. We felt that the communication was overall good since the beginning but we were never asked about the breakfast during our stay, which is disappointing because is one of the services included and why we chose this option over others. It is the first time that this happens to us, but we have never booked a shared accommodation through Booking with breakfast included so we felt that would be really awkward to wake anyone up/text at 8 in the morning asking for it.
• Paul (10/5): Best place I've stayed in quite a while - The host was a true Gent. Very helpful, very friendly, and polite throughout. I frustratingly forgot my toiletries bag and he kindly gave me a new toothbrush and toothpaste and also prepared me some breakfast to go in the morning. The bed was super comfy. House was stunning and I had a very welcoming experience throughout. I dont travel to east London often, but when I do, I'll now only book here. Nothing to not like.
• Peter (9/5): Superb - The breakfast were super tasty, owner made them for us every day. it was a typical English breakfast with juice. I can recommend it to everyone. The owner asked for more information about alergies, he was very responsible. There was no information on website that there is a dog in a house. Dog was very nice, small and friendly :) , but someone with allergies should be informed in advance.

• Bibi (1/5): Shouldn’t even be on booking ! - The rooms have no lock , so basically you are in one of the most dangerous area of London, without being able to lock your door when out of the house, and the owner admittedly have had robbery not long before! The host was very rude, and racist towards where i came from, telling me maybe my English is not so good (i live in uk and i have a British partner from 11 years) I threatened to leave after just 5 minutes for how unwelcoming and weird to say the least was, so much so he had to bring himself to apologise as i was about to live, while i was constantly trying to call the booking.com service with no luck. He, a part laughing at the amount of my luggage, has not helped me at all, but indeed laughed at me repeatedly, keeping me outside in the mean time!..all for going back to call a guest to make her laughing too about my luggage. My 4kg pet was also a problem, even if pet allowed. Also he has a dog too in the house which is not stated anywhere at the time of the booking and it's a problem for pet owners. Once upstairs, he apologies for his rude behaviour, but starts again with a mile long list of NOT TO DO THINGS, like, everything! ..i felt so unsafe, abused and laughed at, that after a decision with my partner at the phone, we decided to not entertain this any longer, so i leaved immediately. He promised a full refund, to both me directly, and my partner when he spoke to him at the phone, and he NEVER PAID IT BACK to us,but also lied with the booking.com team, about the whole situation, even insinuating that my boyfriend was there with me when he was at work in the other side of town. He was rude , manipulative and i appreciate the house looks nice, but this is not a place that could be on booking.com It is a private house, so expect to enter many rules that you haven't been informed about .

Directions very easy to follow, very easy to find his beautiful property. Beds were clean and comfortable, shower was wet, warm and clean. 100% would stay here again Within walking distance of the Excel exhibition centre I personally loved everything!
• Lau (1/5): We had a very bad experience - / The host was not welcoming. He wanted to throw us out on the first night. He is invasive, you feel like a teenager with an angry mom. We think he does this on purpose, so he can make money with an empty house. He forces you with lies and guilt, so your only option is to run away. You pay in advance and you don't have a case afterwards. There is no refund so watch out. He made up stories about us, for example on this platform he said that we were young woman under 25 years old. The truth is that i'm 32. The whole thing was traumatizing.

This is because, in this winter, he waited for us to arrive and enter the room before putting the heating on. The room was underfurnished. Just a small double bed in the middle of a big room. The floor was laminated (wood) and made the room very cold.
• Joaoleitao (10/5): Perfect house to stay while in East Ham - London - I had the pleasure of staying at this house for a week during my recent business trip to London, and I must say it was an excellent experience. The location of the house is ideal, situated not far from local shops and within a quick 10-minute walk from numerous restaurants at Barking Rd. What truly set this place apart, though, was the host, Mr. Mike. He is a direct and efficient person who genuinely cares about ensuring his guests have the best possible stay. His attention to detail and commitment to making our stay comfortable was truly impressive. Mr. Mike's friendly and welcoming demeanor immediately put me at ease, and his genuine concern for our stay process was evident throughout our time there. You can freely use the kitchen facilities. In short, Mr. Mike is the perfect host, and I would not hesitate to stay at this house again if I find myself in London in the future. His hospitality and the convenience of the location make it an excellent choice for both business and leisure travelers.

• Richard (10/5): Exactly what it saya on the tin. - Warm welcome and good communication. Room was simple but comfortable. Decent walls so was quiet at night even though staying in the room at the top of the stairs. The area surrounding the house was quiet and, while it was a 15 minute walk to the tube station we always felt safe while walking around. It was a little further out of town than we may have liked but that was the balance between distance and cost that we chose ourselves based on our budget for the night so something of a self fulfilling prophecy and not something to level at the property.

• Debbie (10/5): A successful first night away in London with our 9 month old Golden retriever . - We had our large 9 month old golden retriever with us and having a garden was great. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. There was good communication regarding checking in times and the hosts were very accomodating.

• Gerfried (9/5): I had a nice stay - A caring host, nice, quiet room, good facilities. The house is spacious and clean. Good for cyclists as it's right off the Green Way bike path and has a back garden where it's safe to keep your bike overnight. Large kitchen/shared bathroom. No complaints.
