- Rebecca (3/5): We made the best of it - if the broken or broken down furniture and fittings were meant to be in some way quirky they we - View out the back is lovely. The heaters were nice and powerful. Too many things to list

- Manning (9/5): - Amazing view and a charming cottage. Kitchen has plenty of pots, plates, cups, utensils and more. Very close to the centre of town, less than 5 mins. A few trivial things such as cold water tap in the kitchen not working properly.
- Mitchelmore (2/5): Great view but poor facilities and uncomfortable - Close to the town centre, train station and walks. Nice view from the back verandah. Excellent for train spotters. We’re used to staying in old places that are a bit run down but clean and comfortable. This was not. The furniture was broken and old. It needed a really good clean. The sofa was too uncomfortable to sit or lie on, there was no tv, the projector didn’t work. The 4th bedroom was locked. It was noisy. It wasn’t charming, it was cluttered and neglected.
- Una (10/5): Breathtaking Views. - Amazing view from back veranda and Great location. Could do with a deep clean and some new furniture.
- Trudi (6/5): Old girls getaway, you’ll need vino & a sense of humour! - We liked the view from the back of the house, the beds were reasonably comfortable, good hot water, good supply of chopped hardwood for the great fire place, walkable to pubs, restaurants & shops & easy drive down into the Megalong Valley. You do need earplugs if your a light sleeper, take your own kindling & fire starters if you go in winter, plenty of chopped hardwood supplied. Sadly this lovely old house has been let go in the maintenance/repair department, there’s a lot of old broken, uncomfortable pieces of furniture throughout the house meant to give it its, so called ‘quirky’ description that should be thrown out and replaced with more comfortable user friendly second hand furniture, cupboards contain old out of date mouldy food left behind from other guests, the cleaning obviously isn’t done very often, other guests are not interested in using left over food, at eye level on a cupboard in the bedroom were bags of lollies, tissues and used babies swim pants I removed, draws through the house have a lot of broken toys, we had to do a bit of tidying/cleaning to be able to relax and feel comfortable.
- Kate (7/5): Gorgeous, atmospheric, vibey, convenient - Hanging out in the kitchen, gorgeous bedrooms, close walk to town. Didn’t supply firewood which didn’t work as we were arriving by train. , dripping kitchen tap was annoying, and need better outside furniture - a bit falling apart and not comfy to sit for long.

- Wendy (8/5): A fun family get together - A cute little stay with family in Blackheath. We loved the kitchen and cooked up a great big dinner. The house was old and cold but a quirky cosy experience once fires and heaters were on. The kids loved the fireplaces. The location was fantastic, close to lookouts and town. Careful of the doors that lock on themselves, we couldn’t use the back bedroom. Bring warm clothes.
- Sophia (8/5): Was a great stay. House was full charm and character, close to everything, train rams all night but you get used to them - Great kitchen to cook in, beautiful views overlooking the mountains and sunsets, great heating. Wasn’t able to use to washing machine, and kitchen sink tap didn’t turn off and leaked at times.
No TV.
- Regine (7/5): Good for family - Location was great, the view from outside is beautiful. Once you get over the shock that wow it is really old, you’d appreciate the property. We love the fireplace, host provided plenty of firewood which is nice. The house does not seem to be cleaned well before check in. ?was not vacuumed? Or the rugs are just too old. House is near railway crossing so the train beep the horn regularly up until the night and starts again at 4am
- Mathew (7/5): Charming old world feel close to town and a view to die for - The location, charm and character of old house and the view ! The back deck was great Lounge and dining chairs were a bit uncomfortable and whilst i like the old fashioned charm it could be more comfortable
- Sophia (3/5): Poor - This house is large, funky and eclectic but not necessarily in a good way! There is a sense that this house is unloved.
The furniture is miss-matched, most of it in disrepair and old (but not old in the character of the property). It would be good if it was pared back and most of it thrown out. The furniture in the living room is worn-out and therefore uncomfortable as the cushions sink down and offer no support.
The house itself has bags of character and the beds had clean linen (my bed was made incorrectly with the top sheet placed between the doona and top cover). Not realising this the first night, I slept with an uncovered slightly stained doona on top of me. There was a new electric double socket in my bedroom with USB ports however this supplied 1 bedside lamp and a single ended extension cord that went under the bed. From this, you had to choose if you wanted the other (mismatched) lamp on or one side of the heated blanket!
The view is exceptional, however the garden was unkempt with very long grass and untrimmed bushes, the back porch had mouldy rotting/broken furniture/cushions, and in the yard were discarded bicycles half buried, a bath tup filled with dirty water and a creepy caravan that looks like someone may have been sleeping rough in the garden. This did NOT give a sense of peaceful relaxation.
The bathroom is in need of upgrade with a loose fitting toilet, cracked basin, broken tiles around bath taps. The hot tap handle in the shower comes off when trying to adjust the temperature. The shower head sends a stream of water straight to the wall which then drains onto the floor and across the to the doorway The shower is in in a high-top free standing bathtub in need of re-enameling with a curtain. There are no grab rails.
In the kitchen, there was a continual stream of water leaking from the sink tap, which could not be stopped.
There was a projector to watch DVD’s (supplied) that was quite complicated to set up.
- Steven (8/5): Very nice. Thank you. - We enjoyed the very relaxed style of the house.
Being next to the railway line was not as much of an issue as I thought it could be. They only let me know that I needed to bring my own coffee for the coffee machine about two hours before our check in. I was already on my way by then and didn't see the message until after I got there. I had to buy coffee the next morning in Blackheath. If they had let me know earlier I would have brought some from home. Having the coffee machine was great though.
I am still waiting for a response to a question I had about some sunglasses I lost on the holiday as to whether they may have found them on the property.
- Maddie (9/5): Cosy, short and sweet weekend stay - Cosy and a bit quirky- like staying at my great grandmothers place. The location was great and close to town- could walk to everything. We had cheese and wine on the verandah and enjoyed the view. The noise from the trains at night was a lot louder than expected, the couch could use some extra support to reinforce it.
- Cathy (6/5): The property is quaint and charming and met our needs for the few days we were there. - The kitchen was well equipped and large enough for the whole family. The large gas stove was great although we had trouble with the oven we eventually figured it out.
The property was eclectic and charming and although the weather wasn’t great, the view from the back was fabulous. The proximity to shops was also very handy. My daughter described the bed in the first room as probably coming from the same era as the property. The beds in the other rooms were comfortable although squeaked every time we moved. The couch fits with the eclectic nature of the property but it definitely needs padding.
- Brendan (4/5): I liked the vibe that was there but it could be more comfortable and still work. Especially for the cost. - Lovely view and some great old world decorations and furniture. Not comfortable though and could do with some new old fashioned furniture which is not falling apart. Oven door would not stay closed.
- Anne (7/5): We enjoyed our overnight stay. - The view is terrific. The house is convenient to town (a pleasant and short walk) and is quite private. The beds were comfortable. It’s a quirky, individual house. We were able to sit out on the back verandah comfortably despite the rain. There’s plenty of room in the pleasant kitchen and dining area (and in the lounge room, though the seating leaves a lot be desired). The trains kept some of us awake most of the night - the train line is just across the road.
The lounge is really uncomfortable, so we didn’t use (or really need) the lounge room.
The oven remains a bit of a mystery to us as we weren’t able to determine the temperature, though we managed okay.
Likewise, the microwave seemed to have a mind of its own, working at times, not at others, but again, we managed.
The bathroom is very basic, but clean.
- Peter (1/5): Paid for 3 nights stayed for 2. That was too long - The heavy train ran all the time all day and night. 30 metres from front door. Nothing has been spent on this property for 20 years. It is a death trap. If the lawn has been mown this year I would be surprised
- Lambropoulos (9/5): Character house fabulous, views and hosts who were very very generous with firewood and times - If you like a property with lots of character this is the place for you as it is comfortable and is walking distance to the Blackheath shops with a great back Veranda looking out towards a valley and sunset. Every night was glorious. There was nothing to complain about everything worked and was available except the couch could do with some upgrading
- Kevin (7/5): Good -
- Vanessa (8/5): Very good - We loved the cool, eclectic, lived-in, relaxed feel and history of this beautiful classic old house! Awesome views out over the valleys beyond, watching the sunset while we played backgammon from the porch - after a day of bushwalking - perfect! Sitting around the 1895 fireplace after dinner, chatting and laughing together - a beautiful family weekend for us all.
- Andreas (8/5): Very good -
- Steven (8/5): An easy stay for the family in historic blackheath home - Size, views, location (close to town and tourist destinations)
Property manager was very accommodating and helpful
- Jo (8/5): Very good -
- Justine (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (9/5): Quaint old cottage with stunning views walking distance from shops and walks - original old cottage with huge back veranda with lovely views perfect for watching sunset walking distance from everything in Blackheath and walks or short drives to everything in Blue Mountains it is in original condition but this gives it great character
the trains do run past the house but you get used to this and we slept well
- Georgia (9/5): This was the perfect location for a group of 6 friends. Very spacious and very responsive host. I would highly recommend - The house was gorgeous!! Even better than the photos make it out to be.
The location was ideal (less than a three minute walk from the town centre) Not much!
- Anne (10/5): Exceeded our expectations. Need to stay longer next time. - An intriguing & charming cottage filled with so many interesting things. Very clean. A very easy walk into town. We didn’t use our cars once we were at the cottage. Spacious. Great view. The trains were a little bit noisy at night time in the front bedroom but we did go to bed early…….and they did stop as it got later…….added to the charm of the cottage really
