Guest Reviews
- Charley (10/5): Fantastic and authentic stay - Loved it, thank you
- Arne (6/5): Pleasant - Nice welcome, very clean, close to the port and beach Very difficult communication with the owner pre-arrival. After arrival i could communicate with the concierge.
The building is very nice, but old. Squeekibg floors, doors that can hardly close….not perfect, but charming
- Sibilla (10/5): Exceptional - It was an amazing experience. Staying here feels like being a guest in a noble family's home—surrounded by art, antiques, and elegance at every turn. Yet, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I especially enjoyed my veranda, where I spent each evening relaxing with a cup of tea.
This is a truly special place to stay, but it's not your typical four-star hotel—there are no spas or standard amenities. Instead, it's a unique experience for travelers seeking something distinctive and memorable. Nothing
- Edie (10/5): Staying here is like visiting that favorite aunt who had a life of travel and lived life her own way. - Charming property conveniently located between the lake and city center. Tram stop is 3 minute walk and flat - fine to do with luggage. Sunroom was too hot to use.
- Christopher (10/5): A perfect place for a famil break over a long weekend - The cleanliness and the decoration. We also liked the excellent breakfast in the company of the other guests Nothing
- Julian (2/5): Avoid - Very old hotel, that feels it is falling apart. It is nice to look from the outside but not to stay.
The staff is very friendly and try to compensate for the poor facilities, but they can only do so much.
Location is good. - Old hotel that feels like it is falling apart.
- Hideous breakfast: One boiled egg, one yogurt, jam and 3 slices of cold cuts.
- Cold and humid.
- Bad isolation.
- Vera (8/5): An originial beatifull well located chalet with warm welcome and a tipped Thai restaurant nearby - The served breakfast was capious and the coffee was good! The service was excellent! The price was in the higher range and since I left early I couldn,t really enjoy a proper breakfast.
- Clare (10/5): A friendly welcome and comfy stay in a quirky property - A family feel and welcome. The property is well positioned for public transport. Filled with historic features the bedrooms are unique and comfortable It wasn’t possible to open the curtains in my room which was a shame as it has a fabulous balcony
- Oliver (9/5): Very friendly staff & great location - Very friendly staff & delicious breakfast in the garden.
- Detlef (5/5): would not recommend as a romantic place to stay - Noise, both from wooden floor when s.o. walked the aisle, and the car corso all night on the main road in front following Spain's Euro soccer win
Garden was not well maintained
- Jacqueline (4/5): The staff were kind but the property is very old and needs proper investment to make it more liveable. - The property was very close to the metro and very easy to get to the centre of town. The property is a short walk to the lake which is also good. The property is very old and in dire need of refurbishment. In our room, the floorboards had broken through and the windows and sores outside didn’t close properly. We got locked in our room as the keys didn’t work and the door lock was very old and needed to be updated with new keys.
- Kristin (8/5): Classic "bed and breakfast" in a historic building. - Great location, lovely breakfast on the patio, comfortable room. Staff were awesome! Very convenient to the M2 metro and Busline 2. Price was reasonable, especially including breakfast. The building is quite old (as expected) but floors were very creaky, doors and windows hard to open. Knew that going into it but if someone wasn't expecting that could be an issue. They do not allow shoes in the rooms (provide slippers)
No shower -- was a bath with a hand held shower
Had to be buzzed in every time we wanted to return
- Angela (7/5): Friendly - Location to lake and metro good Only a room the common area was limited access, front door always locked and owner met you to take off shoes in house.Defs BnB vibe, so not bad if you prefer that to hotel.
- Alberto (5/5): Passable - The atmosphere of the property Presence of too much fabric and carpets with a strong smell of dust.
Broken wooden floor, and windows that open with difficulty.
Bathroom definitely small.
- Jennifer (7/5): A comfortable clean hotel in a great location - Location was excellent for our purposes.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety on offer.
Very quirky unusual hotel.
Staff were excellent and very helpful. Bed was only made on one morning.
No hairdryer in room.
- Danielle (7/5): Pleasant but not cosy as I expected a chalet with rustic living toom with fireplace 😞 - The muffins yogurt jams orange juice the friendly service Having to remove my shoes to use slippers to walk on rough concrete stairs.
Having to phone to make sure someone will give me the code to enter the place after 10pm
My phone did not work, just WhatsApp did❗️
- Oldham (9/5): Wonderful memorable B&B in a perfect spot for enjoying Lausanne - Our long weekend at Le Chalet d’Ouchy worked out even better than we hoped for - the location close to the lake is fantastic and the house itself is amazing … full of character and old Lausanne charm. Emilio, who looks after the guests, is super-helpful and kind, easy to contact and very friendly. The rooms are large, very comfortable and well appointed, also much quieter than I’d imagined, despite being close to a road. Transport is great - the metro is less than a minute walk away, and it’s easy to walk down to the lake front at Ouchy in less than five minutes. If you’re looking for a full-service hotel, this isn’t for you, but if you want a rich and memorable experience of Lausanne you’ll love it! Nothing.
- John (7/5): The stay was enjoyable and the hist very helpful ans - Chalet is located close to the lake and is handy for the Olympic museum. Easy walk down and close to metro station for return if you don’t fancy the walk uphill. The room was comfortable though a bit on the small side for 3 occupants. Generally, there was nothing to dislike. The room would have been better if there was more lighting.
- Marylynn (10/5): The chalet is charming, artistic, and the host is very welcoming. - The chalet is charming, artistic, bright and beautiful. Like a little oasis in the middle of the city. The atmosphere is welcoming. And our host was very helpful and responsive at all times.
The brunch every morning was delicious and more lovely than we had anticipated.
- Lugigi (9/5): Superb - Special location close to the Lake, in a historical building,
with correspondingly historical interior ... however the
staff welcomed is very nice and provided a great breakfast
every morning! Special atmosphere! The special atmosphere in the Chalet does not imply luxury.
- Francoise (8/5): Very good -
- Raymond (8/5): Well intended experience but falls short - The location near the lake in the Ouchy area is one good point. The staff especially Cyrille is excellent in making sure that the guest had the best experience possible. The property is promoting the chalet experience and highlighting its historical significance. However, the owner seems to overlook the importance of comfort as an integral part of this experience. One major issue is the lack of adequate lighting in the room. Why not consider using bright LCD lights to illuminate the space? Additionally, the keys provided are outdated and prove to be quite cumbersome to use. It takes some time to figure out the correct insertion level for them to work properly. Moreover, I am facing difficulties with the bathroom, as it is located in a separate room and I am struggling to lock it from the inside using the keys. I had to resort to using a stool to keep the door locked while I am using the bathroom. Lastly, it is highly inconvenient to have to call the custodian every time I need to enter the property since I do not have keys to the front door. To enhance the overall experience, it is crucial to address these issues. Firstly, improving the lighting in the room would greatly enhance the ambiance and make it more inviting. Bright LCD lights can provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that guests feel comfortable and at ease during their stay.Secondly, replacing the old-fashioned keys with a more modern and user-friendly alternative would greatly improve convenience. Guests should be able to effortlessly access their rooms without having to struggle with complicated key insertion methods. This small change would go a long way in enhancing the overall guest experience.Furthermore, the bathroom situation needs to be addressed promptly. Guests should not have to resort to using makeshift solutions like stools to keep the door locked. Ensuring that the bathroom can be securely closed from the inside would provide guests with the privacy and peace of mind they deserve. Lastly, it is essential to provide guests with a more convenient method of accessing the property.
- Marie-simone (2/5): Very poor - Beautiful building in a little park. Comfortable bed, new and nice bathroom. Friendly stuff We had the room "Chambre Mille et une Nuit" which is facing the road and a very tiny balcony and small round extra room (oriel). The bed was very comfortable and the little bathroom new and nice. The room was smaller then described, because the oriel can't be used in summer, it is completely heating up the whole room. The provided mobile air con, didn't help. The breakfast didn't gave a lot of options and coming 9:30 most things were already gone or not really fresh, but have been refilled after requesting it.
- Rawlinson (10/5): This is a really special quirky hotel which won't suit everyone but we loved it. - Breakfast was great and plentiful. . We were in the kitchen around a big table win other guests, which worked really well. nothing!!
- Kerenza (9/5): A peaceful, comfortable and historical place to stay if you want quieter but convenient! - The Chalet d'Ouchy is really close to a Metro station (2mins) but even walking from Lausanne main station was really easy. The Chalet was really quiet but you could reach the lake front in Ouchy very quickly. The room was really comfortable and clean and we liked the spacious bathrooms. The breakfast was really extensive and delicious: Breads, meats, cheeses, omelette, fruit, varied juices, yoghurts, cereals, bacon one morning. Cyrille, the manager was incredibly kind and helpful and made us feel really welcome and answered all my enquiries in advance as well as when we were there. He recommended some good places to eat (we wanted something a bit more international which was great he was able to help with) and was available for our late check in. It was lovely to stay in something historical in Lausanne and because the chalet doesn't have a loads of rooms, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We would definitely choose to stay here again if we return to Ouchy/Lausanne. It's hard to say anything we didn't like.
- Ed (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderfully caring hosts in an eccentric and beautiful building, maintained in very original condition. Very un-corporate yet clean and professional. Charming and memorable. Great breakfasts.
