Guest Reviews

- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Edward (9/5): On balance, it was a very positive experience. - Breakfast was really good, more or less a basic casado. Gustavo was very helpful. I appreciated his providing me a ride to the farmers market, dealing with a shoe repair fellow on my behalf, and taking me to the Alajuela market.
I had picked up some things at the Farmers market, and I appreciated Rosi and her daughter's help in processing them.
I happen to speak half way decent Spanish, and I enjoyed chatting with members of the family.
Access to the second floor balcony was also a big positive, as there is a refrigerator and sink there. One should know that the hostel is right in the center of the city and on a major road, so it can be rather noisy particularly on the balcony. My bedroom was not too noisy, though.
- Alexander (9/5): Superb -
- Billie (8/5): Basic amenities,a terrific host. - The family were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was terrific! Couldn’t find the place in the dark, but Rosa came out right away.
- Janet (8/5): Nana and her daughter were great hosts! 😁 - The room was comfortable and clean It’s on a main road so can be noisy.
- Marta (9/5): Superb - The room was very clean and close to the airport. Everyone was super welcoming, and Nana’s breakfast is simply the best. Wishing to go back very soon!
- Lefi (10/5): I came with a booked room, i left as a family member. Great people. nice place - A cozy room near the airport. The host makes it incredible. I was treated like a member of the family. Everybody was super helpful, nice, and welcoming. I never experienced such hospitality befoer. nada
- Francois (8/5): Very good -
- Angelika (9/5): I felt very welcome! - I didn't stay overnight but was looking for a place to rest during a long layover between a bus trip and a red-eye flight. Posada de Nana is conveniently close to the airport. Nana took great care of me! She made me feel welcome, treated me to coffee and homemade pastry, and good conversation! It was lovely. Finding the place was a bit of a challenge for me. I couldn't call to verify the location because I didn't have a phone plan for Costa Rica. If you can call ahead of your arrival to confirm, it should be easy.
- Suebee (5/5): Sweet place if you are not sensitive to noise - This was really the absolute sweetest family. They were very generous and I could feel the love in the interactions, and the love in the cooking of the breakfast was amazing. The location is walking distance to Plaza Real where there are all sorts of restaurants, cafes and and an ATM at Banco Costa Rica (BCR) that did not charge any withdrawal fees!! Unfortunately, the windows do not close (just screened) and the hostel is located on the main road. I was told there were no other quieter rooms. Even with ear plugs, it is quite loud and I was not able to rest. It can be difficult to find even with a location pin— each of the other guests I met during breakfast had epic arrival stories, so make sure you know Spanish and arrive in the daytime to ask around.
- Luther (9/5): It was excellent and I would do it again. - It was clean and cozy.
The hostess was super friendly, accommodating, and helpful. And the rest of the family/staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Fabian (10/5): A true Costarican experience - I had a wonderful experience spending time with Rosi and her family. Rosi is an amazing host and makes you feel like home. Rosi is a marvelous cook too. She makes the best gallo pinto in Costa Rica. Muchísimas gracias y hasta pronto! Everything was great.
- Vojtěch (10/5): It was really nice stay with home and warm atmosphere. Amazing breakfast. Once again thanks you 🙂 -
- Marcella (9/5): Great option for solo traveler - Great location, very close to the airport. Wonderful host, very accommodating and easy to communicate with.
- Erik (10/5): Like staying with Nana - The location is close to the airport in San José. Its definitely a great place to come to, especially after a long flight where you want to relax or shower asap. It's also a great place to spend the last few nights before you leave because of the short distance to the airport. The accommodations are ample and clean. There is a private living room with tv, sink and refrigerator for personal items. The host is knowledgeable about the country and travel locations and distances. She is very kind and hospitable and makes you feel at home. And her cooking is EXCELLENT! I was treated like I was part of the family and made good friends here. I recommend trying it out! There is no parking available at this location if you have your own vehicle, HOWEVER, the host can usually find parking for your vehicle nearby.
- Adelfye (10/5): Great host. Great location. - Rosi was a great host. She was extremely attentive. Made my family and I feel like we were staying with family.
- Brian (9/5): Nice stay in the city - Good basic accommodation with shared bathroom. I was the only guest. Nice common room with couch, kitchen, and massage rocking chair. Was a little hard to find. A house or two down from the plaza.
- Victoria (10/5): Wonderful home stay with plenty of privacy with an amazing family who truly cares. 100 % authentic experience with an a - I love the house & the warmth of the host family. I arrived in the early afternoon & was invited to have a home cooked lunch with them, as well as breakfast the next morning, delicious! I felt welcomed as part of the family which made the experience very special. There is a terrace on the 2nd level near the bedrooms that has a large refrigerator as well as coffee & tea service, & the shower has great pressure & hot water. The location is near the airport in a residential area that has supermarket’s & restaurants in walking distance, as well as the Plaza Real, which has many shops & and a wide variety of restaurants; There was live music when I was there which was lovely. I highly recommend the posada de nana! Nothing
- Petr (10/5): Close to the airport, welcoming and helpful host, good breakfast - We stayed as patr of transit on SJ airpirt. Rosy, the owner, is very nice and welcoming and cooked nice breakfast for us and talked with us while eating, which was a nice welcome to the country. There are nice restaurants and other infrastructure nearby to go out for a dinner. Noisy during the night as the street passing by is busy.
- Ben (10/5): Donna Rosi and Don Gustavo were the best imaginable hosts. They made us feel part of the family. Lov - Very real and truthful experience, in a beautiful place. Authentic breakfast and authentic Family. They really made us feel at home when we were young. Good stuff , very considerate people with cool stories and insights. The room and the house were clean and beautiful. It’s easy to see Donna Rosi and Don Gustavo put a lot of love and care I to the place. The food is just great and professionally made and you feel the joy of Rosi making it.
There is always a great atmosphere and if you have any questions, they will , explain and help and are super knowledgeable.
Life was good there for us , hot shower , excellent laundry service , fun kids , sweet translators, and just super cool vibes.
So all in all very thankful for the few days of stay, would clearly stay again. Couldn’t complain about a thing. Exceeded our expectations.
- Brad (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice home cooked breakfast and a great view of local life from the front porch. This place was such a great alternative to hotel/condo stays! Highly recommend if you want to be close to Alajuela and San Jose but away from the noise and traffic. 5 minutes from the airport!
